Good food but awful service. I'd give the food four or five stars and the service 1 1/2. I love their turkey sandwich and the meatball sub and it's great having potato salad available as a side. Recently a group of three friends and I decided to go to Table Forty 4 for lunch. For a downtown restaurant at noon on a Thursday, the restaurant was surprisingly empty, with only a couple of tables occupied. We were quickly shown to a table, and greeted by our hipster waiter some minutes later. It took our party of four several minutes to make up our minds on what to order, and we all really appreciated our server's excellent knowledge of the menu. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a side of coleslaw and an iced tea to drink, which made my total bill $12.30. While waiting for our drinks to arrive, we took in the urban chic ambiance of the restaurant, as well as the massive number of televisions, which seemed to hang from every conceivable wall. Our drinks arrived a few minutes later, which is where our Table Forty 4 experience started going downhill. Our waiter delivered the diet to the person who ordered regular, and regular to the one who ordered diet. Luckily the two cola drinkers were not afraid of each other's cooties and just swapped drinks, as our server was nowhere to be found. When I tasted my iced tea, it had that funky, "I came out of a tea pitcher that has not been washed in several days" taste. I would have asked for a replacement, but it took so long for our waiter to come back again, that I just ended up drinking it anyway, and hoping for the best! After what felt like a long time -especially for a nearly empty restaurant- our server brought out first our food, and then drink refills (this time getting the colas correct, and my iced tea tasted less funky). While we all remarked surprise at the small sizes of the portions, everyone in our party agreed that the food tasted very good. For me, the pulled pork sandwich had a great flavour, and the coleslaw was excellent. Even though I really liked the restaurant's cool atmosphere and good food, the sketchy and inconsistent wait service, questionable beverages, and small portion sizes for the price left me feeling ambivalent about Table Forty 4. As such I rate the restaurant as being OK, and might or might not come back. read more

I have pros and cons about this place, and the cons are mainly about the time of day that I went. Pros: Great food selection and the fries are AMAZING. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They do delivery for the Black Cloister Brewery across the street and it's extremely efficient. Lots of seating and a nice outdoor area for seating as well. Cons: Loud. Always loud. It's a restaurant with a big bar area and a stage. Great atmosphere but can be a bit much. One night I went there with my boyfriend and there was a large birthday party reservation going on in the outdoor area, but everyone was crowded around the bar getting drinks and bumping into our table while we were eating so it was rather annoying. Even the waitress couldn't get to us at times because they were clustered around our section. So maybe the layout is a bit rough at times and maybe people are jerks, but that dampened our experience there a bit. read more

Came here looking for a good local spot and found it. I really liked the open warehouse atmosphere. I see several reviews that are reporting sub-par service but my experience speaks the opposite. Our server was extremely helpful in helping my wife find a good mixed drink, and in recommending my entree: the peanut butter bacon burger (absolutely delicious, sweet/hearty/salty). We also witnessed a very attentive server get absolutely railed with complaints and hassle by an extremely rowdy couple that came in after us. He maintained his professionalism, and afterward we tipped him (the couple left, very drunk and angry). That server told the owner, and 2 minutes later we were eating some delicious, free carrot cake courtesy of the owner. In summary, great food, service, and atmosphere. This was our first visit to Table Forty4 and we will be back. We were graciously greeted and seated right away. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating. He suggested one of their signature cocktails, the Moscow Mule--it was great (loved the copper mug)! Our appetizer of fried green tomatoes was fantastic. My husband loved the pulled pork sandwich and Parmesan fries. I had fall-off- the bone tasty ribs with fresh homemade coleslaw (thanks for allowing me to "substitute") and possibly the best sweet and savory brussel sprouts ever! We called ahead because there were 7 of us, when we got there it wasn't busy at all, only a few other tables. Things started out promising, drink were good, appetizers came out quickly but then we waited and waited and waited for our food. We just got easy stuff, sandwiches, flatbread ect. The philly steak sandwiches were dry- no sauce or anything and the flatbread was dry and barely looked done. So after that long wait, the food was just ok. Table 44 has a split personality to accommodate the wide range of crowd and regulars. It can be a sit-down restaurant if you hadn't eaten and have a hankering for sandwiches, seafood, pasta, etc. It can also be a bar if you're looking to grab drinks, peoplewatch, and enjoy the live band. While I wouldn't necessarily call Table 44 "fine dining", the place does boast an eclectic (and tasty) menu guaranteed to please even a discriminating taste. The curried swordfish was phenomenal, as was the hefty portion of fries that accompanied it. Other plusses include: friendly and personable staff, parking (lot for $3), and atmosphere in general. I can definitely see the patio being a hit in the upcoming warmer months. If -- like me -- venturing to Downtown Toledo is beyond your comfort zone, give Table 44 a whirl. Went here for the 1st time and it will likely be the last. They were out of soup (and it was only 6pm) and it took a very long time to get our food. When we inquired as to how much longer it would be our waiter told us they were busy and couldn't possibly get everyone's food out in a timely manner. Absolutely horrific experience. I went out last week and bought a total of 4 drinks, which were each around 5 dollars. I looked at my debit card purchases through my bank account, and noticed they over-charged me for all of my purchases. Some Friends & I came here and we were instantly greeted at the door. He treated us very nicely & welcomed us very well. The service is slow and generally crappy--and that is regardless of how busy the restaurant is. The food isnt great but it's cheap. So you get what you pay for in this case. Also, the acoustics are horrible when there are more than 3 people in the place due to the tin ceilings and the layout of the place. Let me start by saying that the cucumber wasabi dressing was great and my husband loved the ribs. I ordered a pasta dish with shrimp and waited for a long time, only to be brought a different dish because they were out of shrimp. The waitress thought that another staff member had asked me if it was ok. I ordered a salad with toasted pumpkin seeds instead and waited for a long time. It came without the pumpkin seeds. Interesting menu of appetizers, sandwiches, and entrees. The mussel in lobster sauce appetizer was great. Decor: old Toledo architecture: metal stamped ceilings, wood floors, and exposed brick walls. Unfortunately this makes for a very very noisy restaurant. The music and staff dumping dishes into busboy bins doesn't help. Overall the food is pretty good as is the bar. We were looking for a spot to check out downtown Toledo and fell upon this place, having read about the good food. We sat at the bar on a Saturday at around 2. The parking was free at the meters outside. The place was pretty empty. I got a stout that had a honey and berry flavor, forgot the name, but it was super strong. I got the Baja sandwich which was more of a burger due to the bun, it was soooo good with the slice of pineapple on it. I got a side salad but also the fries came out with the burger/sandwich which we also ate. They were warm and seasoned well. My fiancé got the meatloaf which he couldn't stop talking about. His side of potato salad was delicious as well. This bar has the best food I have had in quite awhile. I definitely recommend this spot. By the way the bartender was very nice, gave great suggestions for food and drinks and was very friendly. read more

We went to Table 44 last Saturday evening before going to a 7:15 pm Walleye hockey game. I wanted someplace casual but nice to celebrate my husband's birthday. Table 44 fit this criteria. I'm happy we went there. I had the Shrimp with angel hair pasta and my husband had the ribs. I was very happy with my choice. The texture and flavor were remarkable. I would definitely order it again! My husband ordered the barbecued ribs and he said they were good. I would say he is rather picky regarding his ribs as he smokes his own in the the summer . I had the lemon-berry cake for dessert and it was wonderful! Our server provided good customer service with a smile, even though he was busy before a hockey game. I really enjoy this bar, I've been several times. Usually it's busy but the service is good if you can find a table or a spot at the bar. I will say that it can get REALLY LOUD! My food was delicious, but the service was awful. It took foreever to get our drinks as well as food. Granted we went on the day before Thanksgiving so they were busy but the server wasn't even apologetic and didn't bring us things we asked for repeatedly. Plus, all our drinks bar drinks were made wrong. My friends "dirty martini" came in a highball glass without an olive and was completely the wrong color. We thought it was a misorder by the waitress but when he went to the bar itself, the drink was still made poorly. Often we had to ask 3 times to get refills. It toke over 40 minutes for us to order then another hour before our food came out. After the food arrived our waiter disapeared again leaving us no untensiles to eat our meals and ultimately my wife was not able to eat her coleslaw. Our server was great but the food was not. My wife had the Betty salad and the spinach was overdressed and wilted. For around $11 she got a bowl of spinach and bamboo shoots. I read all the previous comments before posting. Some were funny, some things I agree with and some are way off base. The part about "fine dining" I only ever took as a nice atmosphere and good food. Served by pleasant people. It didn't mean center cut filets and lobster. Maybe I am wrong. I have always been greated by a friendly person and the food is above average for downtown Toledo. The meatloaf sandwich is ridiculously good. Their in house made soups are incredible. The pricing is more than fair. To the person drinking well vodka and paying $7, I'm guessing it was much more than a Vodka/Soda or Vodka/Cranberry because their typical mixed drinks are between $5- $6. For downtown Toledo, that is good. I highly recommend this place and if you find something you don't like, share it with a manager. They would probably appreciate the insight from you. read more

I can't say enough about this place, IT WAS GREAT! For starters the we had the 'Duck Wings' and the waiter recommendation of 'Rock Island Shrimp'. The wings where actually duck wings and soooo good. Came in a sweet Teriyaki sauce on a bed of cellophane noodles. I think I ended up eating most of them. The Shrimp was simply deep fried shrimp with an insanely spicy dipping sauce. Nothing special here. There is a lot of Veal and seafood on the menu with a decent hot sandwich selection. I went with something called 'The Cardinal'. Beef medallions, a mushroom cap, red pepper, wrapped with bacon with Gorgonzola cheese on top. I had this medium rare with a side of garlic mash. The first bite was pure ecstasy. The bacon kept the meat juicy and the creamy cheese on top was more like butter in consistency. The mushroom/pepper combo really complimented this perfect. I washed this all down with a Stella Artois. Even had my beer out of a Stela gold rimmed glass. The atmosphere itself was relaxed sports bar that caters to an upscale crowd. If I am in the area again I will definitely come back for that light night meal. YUM! read more
