Pinball
Lexi M.

We came here because we heard the area was getting a lot of buzz. We popped in mostly because of the pinball, but a new bar and BBQ spot in Toledo? We had to try it. I ordered the Dolly Tea Tini and was very delighted by the sweet tea flavor with a nice punch at the end. We wanted to try a little something so we tried the deep fried deviled eggs. Now, I know it may sound odd, but man were these so delicious!!!

We had a wonderful time here. It was our first time coming here and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The vibe is very relaxed and warm. It felt like having barbecue in your neighbors backyard As for the food the deep fried deviled eggs were to die for. We gobbled them down so quickly. They were crispy on the outside but soft and flavorful on the inside. It's a very refreshing take on a classic. The barbecue was outstanding. The meat was perfectly seasoned. My only draw back was I felt they added too much sauce which took away from the meat but that's my personal opinion. I know there's people that love a saucy barbecue The chicken sandwich was juicy and well seasoned. The onions added a nice crunch and cut the sweetness of the barbecue sauce If you're looking for good barbecue and want to support local business this is the place for you!

To go order lots of food

First off I did not want to like this place, great another BBQ place just what we all need. Took me awhile to try it and bummed I waited so long. this is the ultimate, BEST, most mouth watering, incredible, satisfying food, I could only imagine eating. That should explain how awesome this BBQ is. Everyone, try this I swear on my wife's kitten you'll love it. The Cole slaw so creamy, best smash burger I've ever tried, smoked bologna can't believe you can make something so good, the banana pudding we fought over walked all the back to get another, and I didn't know I liked banana pudding.

Most items sold out by 7 PM on a Friday. Bummer.

Our first visit collided with a "Party in the Park" event--loud music, a boomer stampede, and a menu wiped out before sunset. Total chaos. But on the return trip? The food absolutely delivered: tough brisket but great crust, chewy-yet-delicious burnt ends, glorious deep-fried deviled eggs, and sauces that practically held your hand (vinegar based white BBQ my personal favorite.) Just skip the Mac & Cheese - it's nothing to write home about. Service was vapor, lighting is mysteriously dim, and no one explains anything--but the BBQ itself ranks among Toledo's best. We'll be back... just not when the venue is hosting another festival disguised as an ambush.

Pulled pork sandwich

I tried the pulled pork sandwich with a side of greens and baked beans. This was my first time in and I enjoyed all of it. Chef Paul came out and met us. The food came out very nice. I sat at the bar and had a blast. I will be back

Food was great and must admit comparable to Bbq at Memphis. Great space but as we are "boomers" very odd not to have a server but rather order all per the QR code. Again, food great and will be more comfortable at next visit. Go Toledo for growing Ostrich Town.

Love the brisket and the banana pudding, but everything else was mid at best. It's all "self serve" using QR menus with food delivered to the table by the kitchen staff, zero servers. Mehhhh. If i drop 40 bucks on my lunch I want to be served. The place has a very cool vibe- but they really need to have some BBQ platters instead of the all a la carte menu. The cowboy beans were legit disgusting. They did take them off my bill. Completely hard and undercooked and they tasted like they used taco seasoning from a packet to make them. I did like their BBQ sauce and signature drinks. I'm hoping they work on the menu a bit to make it a little easier to mix match and try new things. And those beans have GOT to go! The bartender was great. She was helpful in figuring out the menu and ordering system. It was a sunday and there were some older church crowd in there looking super confused and equally underwhelmed. I really want this new riverfront area to work. In order for it to take off they will need some food worth driving for.

The mashed potatoes are real potatoes, not boxed. My husband had the chicken fajita wrap. He says it was hot and juicy, contents were well seasoned and well cooked. Fries were crispy without being burnt. Our server was friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. We were here in December, only complaint is I don't think the bathrooms are heated, it was very chilly in there. One other thing to note, if you order root beer, it is birch beer and is very sweet (for my own future knowledge, I don't care for it).

Ambiance was dark- like a bar-type of atmosphere- which didn't matter because it was an overcast day in Ohio. It was also more of a sports var as there were lots of TV screens. I ordered a chicken caprese sandwich after being assured by my server that it was one of her favorites. It came with delicious French Fries. The sandwich was good but not amazing. For my taste, the chicken was a bit overcooked, but better than undercooked. The fries were delicious, even though I only ate a few. Before I went to college, I worked in a nice seafood restaurant and our nightly task was to make sure ketchup containers were full. Therefore, I noticed that my container of ketchup was down to the last few squirts. Never a good thing/sound! Overall, not a bad place to eat, but nothing worth going out of your way to try, imo. I see that others gave it better reviews, so this is my experience, Pictures below...

The atmosphere feels modern and chic without being overly stuffy, making it perfect for date night or hanging out with friends. The cocktails are creative and well-made, and the food is solid with a nice mix of shareable plates and entrées. Service is usually friendly, though it can get a little slow when the place is packed. Prices are on the higher side for Toledo, but you're really paying for the location and the experience. Only reason I can't give it a full five stars is that it does get very busy on weekends, so expect a bit of a wait if you don't have a reservation. That said, The Heights is a go-to when I want a fun night out with a great view and good vibes.

Some of the food we had included pork sliders and also Waygu sliders. These were tasty and let's face it, you will eat more than one. The charcuterie platter was very solid and I part liked the prime rib which was medium rare which is how I really like it. The desserts included tiramisu cake, chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate chip cookies. The cookies in particular were soft and had great texture, just like mom's! They brew beer (on site) that will please almost any pallet. You're a fan of light and refreshing Wit beer? Yep. How about jet black (essentially) imperial stout? You're covered. Christmas ale and "French toast ale?" You're still good. IPAs, yeah sure of course. At any given time, it seems like GBSB will have between 20 and 25 beers on tap. Is the brewmaster stretching himself a little too thin?? Maybe. I wonder what would happen if they decreased the number of beers brewed at any given time and focused maybe JUST A LITTLE BIT more on quality. Regarding EtOH, they have more than just beer, but every time I've been here, I've only seen people drinking the fermentation of malted barley (and a little wheat). And for good reason...the beer is good! There's no food to speak of, but like most microbreweries around here, you can frequently find a food truck parked outside. The location (on Tedrow in South Toledo) is great. Inside, GBSB is clean and very comfortable. I'd say the taproom could be considered to be a little towards the "sports bar" side of the scale, but still, the TVs are not overly intrusive. Free popcorn. The service has always been great...fast and friendly. The prices? It's craft beer. Regarding the atmosphere again. Great Black Swamp Brewing is dog friendly. You can bring your dog(s) inside. Bring your dog but don't bring your mother-in-law. FOUR STARS, with the potential for 5.

This is Ohio and the weather here 7-8 months out of the year are not a open your windows type of deal. I like beer. I drink beer if Im going to drink most times out. I tried a flight here of 4 of their beers and did not find one that was good. For me. As my man was enjoying the atmosphere I even resorted to getting a glass of wine so we could hang for a bit. Service was just ok. They do have food trucks time to time. None when we were there. I can just imagine how cold it is in here in fall/winter with warehouse type spot atmosphere. Glad I checked it out but don't see any reason to return for me.
