We were in the area and stopped here for dinner. Our server Cassidy was great, joked with us and gave prompt service. We were seated in the bar area which was busy and a bit loud. But that is to be expected in a bar. I had a Mango Cart beer which was available on draft. For my entree I had the BBQ chicken bacon wrap, it was delicious and the tortilla strips in the filling gave the sandwich a nice crunch. I had the homemade chips as a side, yum! My husband had the club which he said was excellent. He said was one of the best he had, his recommendation is to have the wrap grilled. We were looking for a place to have a special dinner for our Friday date night. My husband suggested Dales. I agreed and I am glad I did. We sat outside on the patio, during a gorgeous evening, around 5pm. The place was already packed, which was a good sign. We ordered 1/2 price potato skins with chicken and bar b q sauce. Crunchy skins but tender meat made my mouth water. I had soup with a bacon cheeseburger. I also pushed the boat out with a blueberry tini. It was so much food, tasting this, tasting my husband's cod. Hit Dale's Friday around 3:30pm just before the rush started pouring in. We were greeted happily and immediately by staff the second we walked in. Both my daughter and I got a Moscow Mule. The Mule had a great amount of ginger and lime mixed to perfection. Just want we needed after a long day. Once again my daughter and I both got the bacon cheeseburger with tots. The burger was great and I'm glad my daughter recommended Dale's! The tots and a nice amount of season salt and didn't stand a chance! Great little spot nestled in the heart of Maumee. Man where to start. Sales at one point in time was a 5 star place. Some years back they remodeled the place and it went from hand pressed burgers and just a sloppy little bar with home made food to frozen patties and typical bar food. It made a transition from a bar to a restaurant a while back and it's always kind of been hit or miss since. Service is decent, never had an issue there. Just wish I could travel back in time and have the old classic dales back. I don't really go here all the often anymore just because it's not a good place to drink and it doesn't have good food so what's it good for? read more

The food here is persistently several steps below average, and the restaurant itself is *always* dirty. The only reason I've ever visited Dale's is because it's one of the very few options in Maumee - otherwise I'd always opt for something better than this. Also worth consideration is that they don't require employees or patrons to wear masks during this worsening pandemic, and their communication regarding this fact has been that they are, curiously, *proud* of this. It's almost as if they view it as their patriotic duty... to risk the health and safety of their patrons, all because "tHe CoNsTiTuTiOn". So considering this is actually a matter of public safety, who's to say that their employees wash their hands after using the restroom? Or that temp-sensitive ingredients are stored properly? The mind boggles when considering all the corners they could be (and demonstrably are) cutting. A restaurant that picks and chooses which public health guidelines to adhere to is not one I could, in good faith, ever recommend to anyone--hence the dreaded 1-star rating. You should be able to enjoy your drink and/or meal with confidence. There are plenty of other options out there, in Maumee and just down the road in Perrysburg, and I would strongly recommend visiting one of these alternatives--particularly, one that values the health and safety of its patrons, and the overall dining experience, over the twisted, politically-motivated-reasoning of its owner. read more

Dale's is a fun bar/ restaurant in downtown Maumee. The food here is pretty good. They have sandwiches, wraps, salads and some good beer. I had the varsity club and house chips. The club was pretty good, not the best though. My wife had the avo govo (not sure of spelling) sandwich which she raved about. I would come back and eat here again. Checked out Dale's for the first time and had a truly pleasant time. The food is not blow your mind amazing taste but it does the job of being fried diner style food at amazing prices with great deals peppered into the days of the week. Mondays and Wednesdays boast 50 cent wings and chicken chunks (bbq Parmesan sauce is delicious) and they were pretty tasty albeit served sort of lukewarm almost borderline cold. 50cents though what do ya expect!! Monday also had a $1 taco special but I would definitely pass on that because the tacos are just your standard Taco Bell style taco except not even as good because no cheese sauce or other toppings besides tomatoes and shredded cheese... BUT regardless of the average taste, my boyfriend and I really enjoyed being able to eat all the junk fried food we were craving at leas than $10. ALSO USE YOUR YELP CASH BACK FEATURE AND SAVE 7%!!! GROSS. We were met with a puddle of puke at the entrance. I notified staff as it was hard to avoid this puke splatter upon entering the establishment. When we departed after our disgusting meal, the puke remained on the tile entrance. I now understand how a customer puked! I sat at a table that appeared set and ready to take customers. The menu was on top of a visually soiled table including sticky dried beverage with crumbs. I had to eat with my winter coat on as it was freezing. I ordered a burger. What came out was charred black & crisp (see photos)! I do not know what the draw is to this bar other than the historic significance. It was gross, dirty, cold, & the food was horrid (except the tots). It was worse than my past less than average experiences over the past 2 decades. Gross, bland food, and dirty atmosphere. All four items ordered came out dry and lacking in any real flavor or originality. The fries all needed to be sent back, by the kitchen's request, because no one seasoned them. Multiple toppings meant for sandwiches also came out separately because they were originally forgotten about even though there were four people working in the kitchen and only three other patrons. It was completely dead when we went and all of the tables were still dirty somehow. Last, they are also an obviously unprofessional establishment and not the kind of business I would give my money to (luckily, I was not paying yesterday). Went to Dales to watch the Micigan game sep 29th. Dropped 90 bucks on food and drinks. With only a few minutes left on the game they changed the channel. Refused to turn it back because they are ohio state bar. Totally rude about it. After 14 yrs in maumee my happy ass will now walk across the street and spend my money elsewhere. So F you Dale's! We've been to Dale's once before and it wasn't great. We were in Maumee Thursday night and decided to try it again. I think their COVID prevention was decent, I also think that if you're super concerned you probably shouldn't be eating out in restaurants at this time. Atmosphere is great, I absolutely love a bar and grill/historic feel. Dale's has exactly that. Beautiful space. We would have preferred to eat outside but it was full. Took awhile for our order to be taken, no big deal, we weren't in a rush. When the order was taken the waitress really wasn't paying attention at all. 1st she brought out the wrong soup, we said something immediately and she said nothing, just took it back and retuned in about 30 seconds with the correct soup, but kinda shitty. It was weird, she was busy, whatever. Husband ordered a burger medium. It came out about as rare as could be, he ate only the edges. My daughter got the sriracha bird, no bun. it came with a bun (she took it off, not the end of the world but annoying at this point). She said the sandwich wasn't very good. The chicken was just smothered with sriracha, it wasn't cooked it in so it had no flavor. she got steamed vegetables as a side, they were steamed to death and looked nasty. Dale's Bar & Grille has been a staple for Maumee & NW Ohio since 1920 So obviously, Dale's has done Something Right. The Moment I stepped foot inside, a Someone kindly greeted my arrival. I was struck by The Wonderful, Old Classic Bar with plenty of Sports and Life artifacts. Even had a Muhammad Ali Sandwich. Along with Larry Bird and other Athletic Heroes. Mr. "Maumee" Heisman Trophy Winner. Mr. Richard William Kazmaier makes an appearance. I could feel the Greatness of History before I ordered a Dale's Burger well done with lettuce, mayo, ketchup, onions & mustard. The Bun was soft, onions & lettuce were Top notch...The Burger itself was bland & Beige colored throughout...at least use the Spatula to Sear the "Formerly Frozen" Burger to give it a little taste. If they used Fresh ground beef, the Dale's Burger would have a line around the Corner because the toppings were Great. I'd give the Atmosphere an A+, the Beer was Cold but the Burger was barely Ok. Worst Experience Ever! The owner Bill Anderson is a complete jerk. My parents were in town and I wanted to take them to Dales so they could check out their new patio. We have frequented both locations over the years and typically have had a great experience. However, at lunch today a bug flew into my moms salad as soon as it was set on the table, which is understandable since we were on the patio. We couldn't get the bug out since it crawled under the lettuce and just asked if they could bring her a new side salad. The waitress said ok and took it in the back. Then the owner came out with the salad (and bug) and told us it was our fault for sitting outside and that he would not give us a new salad and if we wanted one we would be charged for both salads. He spoke with absolutely no tact, was beyond rude and embarrassed by mom in front of all the other guests on the patio. My mom started crying. The guys seated behind us couldn't believe it. They got up and walked out saying "that guy lost us as customers over a 75 cent salad". He also lost me and my family as customers (6 of us). I hope that $7 was worth it! It ruined our afternoon together as a family this holiday weekend. I will tell everyone I talk to about this horrible experience and will never set foot in an establishment owned by this jerk again. Dale's is a great neighborhood bar. There are no frills here and you might get your shoes dirty from the peanut shells on the floor, but you will find friendly servers, local people, and cheap drinks and eats, and that's what makes Dale's so great. This bar is my sanctuary around the holidays or whenever I'm visiting home. Most recently I stopped here with a large group of maybe 8-10 people after a retirement event at the Maumee Police Station across the street (Congrats again TJ!). The lovely server with white blonde hair accommodated us by moving a couple of high top tables together, making sure we were all good on water, and then getting us our drinks and tater tots quick enough to get us out the door again to see the end of the retirement ceremony. She even stopped to show us how to do her beautiful up-do hair style when we inquired about it. Great service, cheap drinks, wonderful memories at this bar! read more

I have to assume that this place has drastically changed the way they do things recently, because that is the ONLY thing that could possibly explain all of these rave reviews of food that was incredibly under whelming...and by under whelming, I mean lazy. Where to start? I ordered the jalapeno poppers, which, to be fair, I fully expected to be prepackaged freezer food, and they were. My issue with them was two-fold: first, I got 5 poppers...for $5. It seemed pretty stingy to me, especially since these were small frozen poppers. Second, they were served in a large pie pan, and this large plate only served to highlight how small the portion of food actually was. Free tip: Serve your food on appropriately sized plates. The fries were (unfortunately) frozen too, but the large amount of cheese that was melted over them made them ok. The 'Slap Shot Burger' was the biggest disappointment of all. The menu description sounded great...Swiss cheese, grilled green peppers, and buffalo hot sauce on rye bread. When it came out, the burger and toppings were dwarfed by the over-sized bread slices; this was a smaller burger than I expected. It was cut in half, so I picked it up and looked at the inside and thought, "Well, they certainly cooked all the life out of this thing...then I noticed it was the same color all the way through. I removed the bottom bun to confirm my dreaded suspicion...a pre-made frozen burger patty. What a waste of decent toppings. Frozen fried foods, I understand, but how can you serve your customers a frozen burger patty? That's just lazy. This place should be ashamed. Pretty much any restaurant in Toledo serves burgers made with fresh beef. Some of the best ones (Perrysburgers, Burger Bar 419) even make their own fresh cut fries, are comparable in price, and are only about a 5-minute drive from this place. If you are in Maumee, don't waste your time at Dale's, because they don't care about you enough to put any effort into the food they will serve you. read more

Since Corona is on our minds so much these days - now match that Corona with a Dales burger and fries: Put your Corona in the freezer before you leave, order the bun to be packed separate from the burger, and when you get back, pop fries, burger and bun under the broiler for about 2 minutes.
