The margaritas, on the other hand, are the absolute best in NW Ohio. It's a fun, lively environment with music on Thursday nights with Word of Mouth DJ music. We moved to Columbus, then Tucson for most of our lives, then Portland, then moved back to Elyria several years ago. All those years, we NEVER had a problem, not once. Loma Linda was our go to restaurant every time we came home. My brother and I came to town Saturday, and before we left, had to stop and enjoy it again.... Biggest mistake we have made in a long time. My brother got a ground beef Chili, I got a taco/ enchilada combo. I did not not eat my taco until lunch on Sunday. My brother ate all his chimi. Overnight Saturday, my brother started getting sick. He felt a little better during the day. I had my taco around noon....at around 7 pm, I couldn't leave the bathroom. Montezuma's revenge, FULL FORCE. You don't want to know. My brother's kicked up again, and we were up all night. We both took yesterday off. Sick all day. I left several messages for the restaurant, no one called. I finally reached the manager, Brett, yesterday, and he basically called me a liar, and blamed everyone but L.L. We KNEW something was amiss with the ground beef, and he didn't care. He said, "hope you feel better", and hung up. Nothing else...he didn't care at all. That possibly there might have been an issue. Like they are perfect, and we were to blame because no one else had called. I am so upset they didn't care. All those years of memories and history, just gone now. I am still home sick, but improving a little. Our hearts are broken no one cared. We will never return and take that chance again. Since 1965.... Shame on them....

3.5-ish For starters, the name of this restaurant (according…read moreto its own sign) is Taqueria Carnales, not Carnales Taqueria (as listed on Yelp). Anyway, this is a place for people who enjoy highly flavored and spicy food. Seriously, ask them to go easy on the jalapenos if you aren't up for spicy. I ordered everything as is for my first visit for takeout and enjoyed it but it was on the edge of too spicy for me, (chicken grande burrito) without actually crossing the line.Very much crossed the line with the shrimp tacos, imo. I ordered the following: Menudo Soup (made from cow's stomach); Shrimp Tacos and a Chicken Burrito Grande. The estimated prep time was 15 minutes and the food was ready on time. It's a cute, small restaurant that is very clean. While you could choose to dine in, I didn't see anyone eating there and it appears that most of their business is carryout. Upon arriving home, I found that the Menudo Soup had spilled inside the plastic bag. Not too big a deal. The other entrees were packed in styrofoam containers. The burrito was wrapped in paper and foil. My mom had the Menudo Soup and said it was good. She had one of the three shrimp tacos and said it was okay but that she wouldn't crave them. The avocado slices looked very fresh. My mom loves spicy food but she commented that the soup and tacos were very spicy. As for my chicken burrito, it was unexpectedly spicy in a mostly good way. The burrito was stuffed with everything inside - guacamole, rice, chicken, refried beans (very little), cheese and jalapeno peppers. It was a delicious combo but I would have preferred the individual ingredients to be separate. The biggest problem, however, was that the foil wrap made it difficult to cut into the burrito without also cutting into the foil. I think it's more of a "me" issue that might not bother anyone else. Overall, I would order from this restaurant again. The quality is definitely way above Taco Bell, but it's not quite fast food even though it's next to a Subway. Also, I asked if their refried beans were made with lard and I was assured they were vegetarian. If I hadn't seen so many positive reviews on Yelp, I wouldn't have known to check out this spot, but would encourage you to try it too for high quality, authentic Mexican cuisine! EDIT/UPDATE: I tried one of the shrimp tacos that my mom left in the fridge. OMG, it was super spicy to the point of giving me hiccups. Plus, the spiciness seemed to come from a creamy cheese sauce added to the shrimp tacos after they were cooked. I can understand why my mom wouldn't crave them and I would never order them myself. Based on your personal preference for spiciness, let this give you an idea of the level of spiciness that could be added to your food unless you request your dish to be less spicy. Recommend with caveat re spiciness.

But in general, like his Perrysburg location, and his place downtown (Toledo), this is an excellent restaurant. Is the food authentic? Probably not, but personally, I couldn't care less. Tex-Mex and Toledo-Mex are good enough for me. (Besides, authenticity is overrated. After all, would you want to go to a Brazilian restaurant and find atta laevigata on your plate? Hell no, I'd say). My man Deadpool would LOVE this place, because Carlos makes one of the best chimichangas in the city. Also, what he can do with pineapple and cactus, you need to taste in order to believe. The salsa is made with the same recipe that he uses at his two other establishments, and, it's the best salsa in the city. It's made from scratch two times per day, and you can really taste the freshness. The service, at least at the bar, was perfect; it was fast, friendly, and accurate. The building that houses the restaurant was built in 1840. Suffice it to say, this restaurant is not located in a strip mall. The atmosphere is dynamite. Do yourself a favor and check it out, along with Peddler's Alley. I/we will definitely be returning. 5 stars.

The moment you walk in, you're hit with that warm, lively vibe that makes you feel like you're in for something good. And trust me, you are. Every dish I have ordered from this place tastes like it was made with real care. The plates are generous, too. You're definitely getting your money's worth here. What really seals the deal is how reasonable the prices are for the quality and portion sizes. It's rare to find a spot where the food is this flavorful, the servings are this big, and the bill still feels fair. Jalisco had great reviews and I was lucky enough to be able to try it recently. Conveniently located just off of Michigan Ave, Jalisco occupies a large building with a large patio. I chose a taco salad and it hit the spot. Kiddo got Mac and cheese after overhearing that it was available. It was all solid. Prices were extremely reasonable and service was fast. Overall we were very happy diners and I can't wait to return to try something new!
