The Roadhouse has one of the best liver and onion dinner around however it's their Sunday special. We called ahead and asked they would make it for us and they accommodated us. DO NOT PASS THIS PLACE UP!…read more BLUF: This was the best food I've ever had at a truck stop-affiliated restaurant. The staff was pleasant, the food came out quickly, and it was delicious! I assume the locals know this is a great spot, but from the outside, it doesn't look like somewhere you would want to try. I walked in and was greeted by a lovely woman who asked if I wanted a booth or table. To the left was a bar, and to the right was the restaurant area. I was provided a specials menu in addition to the regular menu. I was offered bread, but I declined so as not to go into an evening food coma. I ordered iced tea and was pleased with what tasted freshly brewed. Within 10 minutes, my food was out, and it was a hearty chop steak, cooked to medium as I requested, with flavorful gravy and cooked mushrooms and onions. The mashed potatoes were good, but I'd try a different side next time. The Mac and cheese was great, and I'd likely order that again.

Knowing this it made we want to go immediately, and I'm glad I finally did because it was, and it was great. The women in there were leathery and gray and all wore skinny black tanks which showed off sweet biker tattoos and scars, my kinda ladies. The place also reeked of cigarettes and sweat. Aside from that aspect, the patrons were down to earth and just hardcore about drinking. The only crazy shit that I saw was an old woman who decided that it was best to settle an argument by throwing a beer against the shuffleboard table which nearly took out my eye. I was cool though, she probably had good reason. Enjoy Suckas'!!!

For an appetizer, we ordered the wedge salad and the Buffalo Chicken dip. I got the perch dinner for my main course. The kid got a chicken sandwich and my wife got the brisket Mac n cheese. They said that the kitchen was backed up. Honestly, it was totally not an issue. We were just relaxing, watching the game and chilling after a 7 hour drive from NJ. What was an issue was...... appetizers came out exactly the and time as the main courses. WHY????????? It couldn't have taken that long to throw blue cheese, bacon and tomatoes on a chunk of lettuce and pump out the Buffalo Chicken dip and then worry about the main courses later. Now we have to decide, do we want to eat the entrees or even touch the appetizers. That alone always ruins everything. Food was very good. Like I said, people were very nice but you just can't bring everything out at once. Defeats the point of "starting" with something.
