Great old bar and grill! We stopped in after a shopping trip and it was well worth it! We ordered the deep fried green beans as an appetizer! So good, dipped in to a spicy ranch dip. I would definitely order these any time I go back. My wife ordered the All American BLT Burger, a 1/2 pound burger with five slices of bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo. Huge and she chose the hand cut fries over the kettle chips. I ordered a half Lenny (the full Lenny is two sandwiches), it's a bagel with fried salami, corned beef, Swiss cheese and cream cheese. We've been here a handful of times and the food never disappoints. I'm not usually a creature of habit, but here, I am. I always get the house wrap with grilled chicken, and fries instead of chips. It's hit or miss on whether it's busy or not. Our most recent visit was on a Friday night and it was packed! The only seats open were at the bar. One waitress was flustered and was cussing, while the other was just as busy but composed. Our service was fine though so no complaints on that - just thought it would be helpful to make note of. I don't know why I haven't written about this place before; maybe because side it's on my opposite side of town. Easy to find but somehow still hidden across from Miracle Mile. This local tavern has a great selection of cold domestic brews and beverages. They offer your normal fried bar apps always hot and satisfying. But the burger is the star! Every burger is generous and cooked to perfection; great grilled crust on the outside with a tender seasoned inside. Every one I've tried is great but I'm partial to the All American BLT, 1/2 pound cheeseburger topped with all the BLT fixings; including 5 perfectly cooked strips of crunchy bacon. I dare you to finish. They also offer a 3/4 pound burger. The fries are hand cut and crispy and the onion rings melt in your mouth. In general, I love this place! read more

Ok, so far. 2 bartenders, that are also working as waitresses. They are doing what the can! Deep fried pickle spears - no. Not spears, more like pickle fries, but almost black fried. So, pass. Red, white and Bleu burger was great! So we're chips Added some black jack sauce on side, and WOW! Would definitely recommend for a burger and drinks. Appetizer? Not so much. Was ignored for quite some time, after served by staff. Not a big deal breaker, but definitely more attention to current customers, rather than new ones, would be appreciated. Tried this place for the first time tonight. Had heard from friends that the burgers were really good. Totally not disappointed other than I ran out of delicious beef on a bun!!! I was on my way back to Cincinnati and stopped at this place recommended. MANNNNNNN!!!!! If you're a burger person then this is definitely a place for you. I got the Phil's Burger to go but I wish I had of stayed there to eat. This burger was not made to eat and drive. It was big and juicy. Definitely would've been a sloppy meal without a fork. Took a friend out today and we were looking for a burger place that also had a bar. Friends recommended Berger's so off we went! We started with cocktails...a Long Island iced tea and a whiskey sour, both of which were excellent. Lunch was the black jack burger and fries and the Big Phil Burger with onion rings. Very simple issues: fries were over cooked, onion rings were a bit greasy and the hamburger buns could have been way better quality. The good: the service was great, I loved the smallness and the ambience of the place and the menu did not offer 1000 choices. I'll definitely go back, but I hope they up their game a bit! read more

At one time this place was glorified used to be one of the best burger places in Toledo Ohio. I know what it's like to get bad service and this place is king of that all. You can treat me like shit all you want! But the worst thing to do is treat my family like that. Me and my brother were looking for music one day. We came to Berger's thinking one day we'd get a Big Phil. For one we waited 5 minutes they weren't busy at all and the waitresses didn't want to to seat us so we left. That first time. The Second time again no one seated us so we decided let's get us a seat. And a family in through the door from another race. And the waitress welcomed them in open arms and seated them even got them their drinks she went right passed us. So that was it me and my brother left again. So my father told me that him and my oldest brother went there they ignored them so they left just like we did. My dad goes in there now remember my dad has been coming to this burger joint for more than 20 years and they treat a loyal customer who has been bringing a lot of business to.. that's not right! So my dad and his worker left and said I won't ever come back here again! So me and my other brothers made the same decision. I left this same review on their Facebook page and this is how petty the management is they reported or edited the review I made and blocked me from their Facebook page. Why? Because your establishment sucks! I'm gonna tell everyone I know never to come here. Bergers has gone down hill the last few years. I have been coming here for over 25 years. I played softball with a Berger family member. The big phil is dry and not the same. When I complained the owner/manager could care less. I almost had to beg her just to replace my order. Today I called before I even left my house for a takeout order because I knew they were probably busy at this time. I was asked to hold but continued to drive there thinking it wouldn't be long. I arrived at Bergers about 15 minutes later. While still on hold. I went in and spoke to someone calling themselves Rachel. I let her listen to my phone. She never apologized but said she was busy. It's 18 minutes later now on hold. She said why are you here. I said because I thought if I called early my food would be almost ready. I asked for her name and for a manager. Manager not here. She offered me manager name and owner name. Now remember I have already dealt with owner previously. She said what do you want. Meaning what do I want to order not what can I do to fix this. I said what can you do for me. She said nothing. I figured so I took the names she wrote down and headed out. I was stopped by a male who said he worked there but was at the bar drinking. I said well shame on you and as I walked out the door a woman? Said shame on me. I will never return to Bergers again. Food has gone down hill. Service is terrible and management doesn't seem to care. What a shame this great family business has gone to hell. read more

This little known bar in west Toledo is one of my favorite places to grab a quick burger any day of the week. They have a good selection of burgers and sandwiches. They were voted best burger by the Toledo City Paper and I would have to agree. The only set back to this place is the very small dinning area. We have been to Bergers quite a few times, and it was okay, but this last time it was awful. I had a baked potato with chili. It was really hard, so the waitress took it away. Not more than a minute later she brought it back with some more cheese on, still as hard as it was before she took it. I could'nt be bothered to moan about it again so just did'nt eat it. She asked if I wanted a box...erm no if I wanted to cook my own food I would have stayed at home. well i went to this place to meet some great friends (including one of the best girls i have ever dated) that i haven't seen in about 30 years. it had a great reputation of having awesome burgers, well they didn't disapoint on that aspect great beer selection also. we were getting caught up and having a great time when one of my friends had to leave (had to go to work early poor soul) . me and my lady friend didn't so we decided to have another beer. when we got back inside we asked the bar tender to bring us a couple of beers. she replied hufffffff fine. i then asked what the problem was are you trying to close early ? Then she replied well i WAS trying to. well far be it for me to ruin somebodys night by giving them buisiness. so i paid the tab and we blew the joint (not literally havent had to do that since i got out of prison) Well this turned out to to be a blessing in disquise, because i punched in dive bars in the old gps and came up with one of the coolest divey type bars i've ever found Daffy's thirsty duck awesome characters there (see my review on that) read more
