The layout is absolutely brilliant a beautifully curated mix of open dining tables, chic bar seating, and intimate private areas that cater to whatever mood you are in. I was particularly charmed by their ordering style; you simply place your order directly with the fabulous bartender, who handles everything seamlessly with the kitchen. The hospitality was top-tier, and I was greeted with the most radiant, warm smile. I decided on the Crispy Short Rib Hummus, and it was delivered to my table in mere minutes. Let me tell you, it was an absolute masterclass in flavor and texture! The richness of the short rib paired with the silkiness of the hummus was divine. This place was recommended by a local and she all told us to call to make reservation ahead of dinner. It was a great dining experience! I had seafood Cioppino and my friend ordered Wild Boar Bolognese. We also shared Classic Hummust o share as appetizer. WOW, everything tasted great and delicious. I passed by the kitchen to go use the restroom and had to stop to enjoy all the dishes that were prepared and ready to serve. Even a simple Romaine Wedge looked so good with halal beef bacon sprinkled on it. Could not order any dessert since we both were full. Went back to Souk last Saturday with 3 other dining partners and really had a great experience. We had a reservation and unfortunately, they seated us in the front room. It's nice in there, but it was just too loud for us. We asked our waitress if we could move to the back room. she checked with the hostess, and it was no problem. She graciously helped us move, thanked us and handed us off to our new waitress. She was really nice about everything. Our new waitress took our drink orders, and I decided to have a Manhattan. It was just the well whiskey (I'm guessing they used domestic whiskey, so the "e" needs to be there!) and it was really well made. They even used a giant ice cube that kept the drink well chilled without the dilution issues typical ice can bring. On to appetizers... We had the calamari and an order of hummus with onions and browned butter. The calamari was really nice, but kind of stingy. It was very well cooked, nicely breaded, etc. My one quibble is there just wasn't enough, especially for the price. The hummus... So, the hummus was a rather generous portion that was out of this world delicious. It was served in a large bowl with browned onions, brown butter, paprika and fried or baked chickpeas. The hummus reminded me of Middle East Market. Smooth, creamy, garlicky, well-seasoned. If you go to Souk and don't get this, you're making a huge mistake. After the apps, we moved on to our entrees... I had the crab cakes. They were really enjoyable, served with some nicely dressed, mixed salad greens. they were full of crab meat (but unfortunately not lump crab). The outside was crispy and the inside was very nicely cooked. Great flavor. One of the folks at the table had the butternut squash ravioli. It was probably my favorite dish of all that night. Amazing flavor and perfect texture. the thing that makes their ravioli the "leader of the ravioli wars" is they served them with a sherry, cream sauce that was just amazing. Kind of a sweet and savory, salty thing. Delicious. Our other guest had the Kafta Ravioli and said it was really good. I didn't try it, so I really can't comment, but it did look pretty great. After our entrees, we moved on to coffee and split a desert. Souk's Turkish coffee was great. It's been years since I've had Turkish coffee, but it was really strong and piping hot. Just perfect. We also split an order of their bread pudding. WOW! I've not had bread pudding that good since I was in New Orleans. So, my first trip to Souk really sucked (see my review). My guess is they were having a bad night, and we got stuck with a really sh*tty waiter. The place is expensive, but the food and drink substantiate the prices. Our waitress was very professional, she knew the menu and offered informed suggestions when asked. She seemed to know when we needed her. Souk never misses. Whether you come for brunch, lunch, or dinner, you're getting great food and good service along with it. The decor inside is marrakesh style - very trendy and cool with a mix of industrial and an open kitchen where you can walk past and view everything being prepared. The Literally French Toast is literally the best French toast we've ever had. A must. Crunchy on the outside, fluffy and airy inside because it's made with croissants. 20/10. The Greek chicken wrap is a healthier option that we enjoy. I've had the gyro, but it's made with braised lamb not the typical shaved lamb so manage expectations appropriately. Flavor is still delightful just not what I had expected. The pizza dough made fresh and makes me want to try the Sittos bread. The hummus with lamb ragu is my favorite thing I've had so far. Met a business contact at Souk for dinner. We had a really nice meal. The place itself is right by the farmers market. There is street parking or you can park in one of the nearby paid lots. It's in a bit of a warehouse district looking area in an older building, but it's very attractive. The restaurant itself is very nice looking with dim light and dark wood. There is also a really lovely patio with the cutest little garden. We were seated in the back corner in the booth closest to the bathroom. It was OK but not ideal. I did appreciate that the two tops are bigger than an average two top table. -My whiskey ginger was perfect. Blended really well and a very good drink. -My friend had the pineapple mocktail, which she said she gets almost every time. -We had the grape leaves appetizer. They were small in terms of the grape leaves length, kind of short and stubby. But very tasty, and I really appreciated the grilled lemon provided to add an extra citrus punch of flavor. -I ordered the octopus salad which was FABULOUS. Grilled octopus with some crunchy bits and a lovely seasoning, some kind of hummus type spread and a pile of fresh cucumber, tomatoes and red onion. Delicious. And very filling. -My friend got the duck, which looked very good as well. The only thing that really bothered me was that we were seated by the kitchen and the wait staff would kind of congregate there waiting for food. Sometimes you'd have five or six people all lined up against the counter. We were a few feet away from that, but the folks in the booth next to us had to eat their whole meal with people standing right next to them. A bit of an experience complaint. Finally got around to trying Souk last night. I don't actively avoid downtown but hate the hassle of parking and forget about all the options downtown. Really glad we finally popped in. Great location near the warehouse district in a renovated building. Parking actually wasn't bad thanks to the empty farmers market across the street. Staff were beyond amazing. Besides the food being excellent our server Mary may have been the highlight of the evening. We started with sharing a pizza that was bursting with flavor. We then each ended up getting the Mediterranean Chicken and it was beyond amazing. Capped off dessert with trying a couple of their cheesecakes ands they were some of the best we've had. Everything was fantastic! I absolutely loved the Turkish iced coffee and the vegetable lentil soup. The Mediterranean chicken was incredible, paired with perfectly cooked pasta and a flavorful garlic wine sauce. The Margherita pizza was spot-on too. Nice vibe and outstanding food. Make sure you are hungry because they have a lot of things to try. Sitto's Bread (hope I spelled that right) was fantastic. Had the classic hummus which is very smooth and tasty; and whoever heard of watermelon radishes but they are a great vegetable for hummus. Tenderloin pasta was excellent as was the garlic chicken. So many other dishes I'd like to try next time. Finished with blood orange gelato and the Dubai custard and licked the bowls clean. Souk is by far top 3 favorites in the Toledo & surrounding area. I always suggest Souk when my friends from big cities visit & they're always impressed. The drinks are boozy & well crafted from quality ingredients. The menu is inclusive enough that anyone can find something familiar enough & will undoubtedly enjoy. The service is always great with knowledgeable pleasant wait staff who obviously have experience in fine dining. We keep them on rotation for a reason. Let me start by saying this: we weren't planning to be impressed. We were just hungry, scrolling through Yelp, and noticed this place had more foot traffic than we've ever seen in downtown Toledo -- which, if you're not from here, tends to be more chill than busy. We said, "This must be the spot," and wow, were we right. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by Aaron (yes, A-A-Ron) -- the kind of bartender that makes you want to become a regular. Friendly, attentive, and actually listened when I explained that I don't really drink but love fresh mint, ginger beer, citrus, and fruity flavors. I told him to let me be a fish in his drinking pond, and what he created? A smooth, refreshing, tequila-based cocktail that tasted like sunshine and intentions. It knocked me out -- shoutout to my friend for driving us back to Columbus because I was absolutely no help. My friend ordered a tall, strawberry-garnished drink (forgot the name but it was a hit), then later accepted a gifted espresso martini from a friendly bar regular named Lamont. I only sampled it (not a chocolate fan), but even I had to admit -- it was dangerously good. Lamont was so welcoming, he offered to show us more of Toledo next time we're in town. We even followed each other on Instagram. That's the energy of this place -- communal, warm, full of good people and even better service. Now, for the food: * French Onion Soup: Flavorful and rich. The cheese didn't cover the full top like I love, but the quality and seasoning made up for it. It was layered, comforting, and strong enough to convince the person next to me to order it on the spot -- and they thanked me for the recommendation. * Tomato Soup: I didn't try it personally (not my thing), but the guy next to me had two bowls and said it was his whole reason for surviving a no-meat day. Take that as gospel. * Short Rib Hummus Bowl (with veggies): Visually stunning. The short rib was beautifully cooked but under-seasoned. Hummus had that fresh tahini taste -- good texture, just lacking flavor. BUT the vegetables? So fresh and vibrant that I ordered more to go. I'd honestly go back just for those. * Spicy Italian Pizza: The crust was the star -- fluffy yet crisp, garlic bread-adjacent perfection. But the toppings didn't quite come together. Sausage was tasty, mushrooms were great (for me), but the pepperoni was oversized and spice was barely there. It looked better than it tasted overall, but I'd give another pizza a shot next time. The total for all of this -- two drinks, soup, hummus, pizza, and veggies to-go -- came to about $60. That's beyond fair for the level of service and quality we got. Bottom line? Souk is that place in Toledo. Warm service. Elevated kitchen. Real community vibes at the bar. If you're from Columbus (like we are), this spot makes Toledo feel like a hidden gem instead of a pit stop. Ask for Aaron, talk to strangers, and let the drinks surprise you. This is, without question, the best sandwich I've ever eaten in my whole entire life. The different liquors and flavors were really interesting and the ones I ordered (Emotionally Unavailable & The Bartenders Number) were amazing. Since we were going out later we ordered couple appetizers. The bone marrow was good but the Duck and Street Corn Sambousek was the best I've tasted. I came with a group after work for an early dinner. For shared appetizers we had bqcon-wrapped dates and hummus. For an entree I had Wild Boar Bolognese (pasta) and my companions had fish and something with either Lamb testicles or meatballs. All the food was well prepared and delicious; even the balls. Portion sizes were reasonable and prices expensive but on par with other fine restaurants in Toledo. The hostess gave us a pretty sucky table near the kitchen, but the rest of the dining room was very warm and attractive. Our server had a bothersome attitude when he was unsuccessful with the upsell on drinks and sides. But when we ordered dessert he became a reasonable human being again. Finally, we each had a dessert as mentioned. One baklava, one affogato, and I got the Baklava cheesecake. They were beautiful in presentation and good in flavor and texture but not exceptional. Of course not knowing what an affogato is supposed to taste like, and what exactly is contained in the creamy combination, the thing might have been extraordinary. If it contained lamb ingredients like so many of the other menu items at Souk then it was out of this world. We had a nice time, good company and good food. If the waiter hadn't pressured us to get drinks and other items, and the hostess had given us a better table in the 1/4 empty dining room, the evening would have been a perfect business dinner. Great menu and wonderful wine and cocktail options. I ended up getting the short rib hummus, which was a HUGE portion, served with homemade pita. The shortrib is delicious and falls apart it's so tender. I also got the grape leaves, which were super flavorful! The spices used *chefs kiss*. Went to Souk's this past Friday 2/20/26 after a show at the Valentine. I am not sure what to make of the whole thing but I feel slighted. We got in the door and the hostess took us to our seats. We passed several empty cozy booths and were lead all the way to the back of the restaurant across from the kitchen pick up window. next to a booth where it appeared all the wait staff congregated.
