Food was superb, service friendly and prompt, atmosphere relaxed, comfortable, casual & clean. As a New York City diner, Hannon's upended all my bigotries about Midwest bar restaurants. Truly superb. read more

I had high hopes for this place but left feeling unsatisfied with my experience. First, we walked in and stood at the host stand for a few minutes before anyone acknowledged us. The bartender ignored us and one waitress was standing at the bar making time with a patron at the bar. When we were acknowledged by the one waitress who was working rather than flirting, she sat us down and brought us some water. We ordered drinks and an appetizer which were good. Dinner came promptly after our appetizer was done. The pork chop was moist and tasty but a little salty and the gravy tasted like Lipton onion soup mix. The lamb was super salty and when I asked for mint jelly to cut the salt, the waitress responded in a snarky way that they didn't have any. During the meal, the waitress didn't check in on us and didn't refill our water or iced tea. Perhaps this was the case due to the other waitress making time at the bar with a patron for most of the night so she was too busy carrying the load. read more

Luck be a lady, Bathroom: **** (clean) Quality: **** Quantity: ** Presentation: **** (well platted) Service: *** Price: $$$$ (Quality) Ambiance: (Loud/Casual/Busy) Attitude: (Chatty/Busy) Outside: No Brunch: N/A Happy Hour: N/A Overall: I've came here now a handful of times before posting a review. I've given this an ample chance I think nearly trying everything on the menu at this point. Even though the moral seems high, service attentiveness needs much improvement. 10-15+ minutes to attend to a table or even the bar, is pretty excessive. Asked for a burger medium rare got it cooked well. It's just the details of things that are missed. Meanwhile they can clean each and every glass as a priority yet, customers and orders overlooked. A little goes a long way. Hopefully it gets worked out because I'd love to come back. read more

This is an interesting place. The front bar is in an older building and serves food, and the back is a garage type bar. Bar. That makes sense? We just came in for a beer and the bartender was very nice, just a normal Joe kind of guy. The bathrooms are in the main building and you can tell that the place on the insides a little more bougie than the outside for sure. The bar on the back with a large garage door open has a lot of kitschy kind of memorabilia as well as a true pinball machine, which you don't see often. I would imagine that they draw a big crowd on game day, just being so easily accessed from the street. read more

I made a brunch reservation here a few weekends ago for some girlfriends and I. Went on a Saturday and brunch is only on Sunday, womp womp. We pivoted and all had a lovely meal. Our server was so terrific. All the food was delicious. I'd been craving French onion soup and decided to give it a try and it was sofa king good. Perfection! I also had a delicious turkey club paired with a kiwi smash. The space is open with high ceilings and a long bar. It started filling up shortly after we were seated so would recommend a reservation. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in Toledo! read more

Hannons garage I've been to this place a couple times. I really like that they had a "divier" bar behind Hannons Block that is a bit more casual. What's really cool is they still offer the Hannons Block food menu at Hannons Garage. We ordered the artichoke feta dip and it was delicious! If you're a fan of feta it's a must try! read more

This is kind of a hard review for me. I REALLY wanted to love this place, but a few things went kind of wrong, and the ambiance, although really interesting, was off. The drinks were good, but again, a hitch. Service too... So, two of us ordered the French dip sandwich. They were just OK at best. Really no flavor, the roll was kind of wrong and the jus was tasteless. I asked (several times) for some horseradish, and I would guess it's still on its way to the table... 2 folks ordered the fried walleye, and one said it was REALLY good and the other said it was really over cooked. 1 person ordered the burger and said it was great. The last person ordered the salmon and did like it. The standout sides were the brussels sprouts and the fries. Both are very, very good. No comments about the other sides. The person across the way ordered the bruleed sweet potatoes and they looked amazing. The ambiance. What a cool place inside. A cool mix of furnishings with some kitsch factor. Not in a bad way from aesthetics, but in practicality, a big miss. When we were taken to our table, we were presented with a 1950's style dinette and chairs. Again, really kitschy, but not at all fun to sit in. The place has a cool mix of all kinds of stuff, but the noise was deafening. We tried to talk to one another, but it was really hard. Just too much background noise from all the people in a concrete, brick and steel room. Too bad. The drinks... So, I took a chance and ordered my martini. I explained how I wanted it mixed, etc. and the bartender did a superb job! Hats off to him for making a great martini! The big issue was one of our guests wanted a Bloody Mary. The waitress explained that they have great Bloody Mary's as they make their own mix. After the drinks were ordered, the waitress came back to the table to let us know they were out of Bloody Mary mix. Mind you, this is 6:00 on a Saturday. That shouldn't happen. The service... All of the drinks were ordered at the same time, and they came out in a staggered fashion over a period of 15 minutes. Same thing with our dinners. Interestingly, the hold up with the entrees was the 2nd French Dip. I would guess if the guy making the sandwiches saw 2 of the same thing on the same ticket, he'd make them both at the same time. That second sandwich took at least 15 minutes to get to the table. We're all being polite and waiting for his meal to deliver so we can all eat at the same time. Cold fish, anyone? And I'd still like to know where my horseradish went. Oh, parking in the lot to the left of the building is stupid expensive. Park in the garage across the street and save $20 bucks. All in all, our check came to about $100.00 for 3 of us. That's without the tip. My meal was a solid 2 to 3-star event but factoring in the others' opinions and negating the Bloody Mary incident and service, I'll give it 4 stars. Pretty sure I'll go back, but probably not too soon. read more

If I could give 4.5 stars I would. The ambiance is cozy, the diner style tables are a creative flair. We ordered the drumsticks and lobster toast. The lobster toast was flavorful...but the lobster was in such big chunks, having it cut down more would have made it more toast friendly. I had the lamb which was 5 out of 5 stars. My son the steak and fritas and my husband the mushroom pasta. The steaks were cooked well but needed additional seasonings. read more

Very good food and service. Honestly great to have an "upper scale" restaurant but for the area the price of alcohol drinks is a little steep, same price as drinks in Miami.... Salmon was a little overcooked but other than that the food was good. read more

Although I rarely give out a 5-star rating unless a restaurant, bar, business is absolutely stellar in all facets, a 4-star rating is usually my rating for an excellent experience. With that said, we did have an excellent experience during our visit to Hannon's Garage. The food was great, the vibe was great, and the service was top-notch. All things considered, I am revising my rating out of love and respect for my Grand Niece. read more

Great old brick building in downtown Toledo. Great look on the inside with exposed bricks and high ceilings. Nice selection of beers, I had the cream sickle orange wheat ale that was really tasty. I had the Walleye with mashed potatoes which was very good, nice big piece of Walleye on the plate. Had the Artichoke Feta dip which was very creamy and their pita chips held up well. My gf had the steak frites which was NY strip cut into strips which was very solid along with restaurant cut fries. Nice atmosphere, friendly service just took a bit to get the food but not a major issue. If you are looking for a nice place for good food and a relaxing atmosphere this is your place! read more

Food was great. French onion soup had a good flavor and wasn't too sweet. The burger is well made , a bit too much cheese tho. The wings appetizer. Very good also. The best of all is the dressed avocado. What a great side ! The place is very neat looking and has a nice older building flare with vintage feel. The menu isn't huge; but it doesn't need to be. Service was decent. There's a bar behind with same name, make sure to hit the restaurant ! Parking is not great. We paid to park next to the restaurant. Ran into this place by chance taking my daughter back to university of Toledo this past weekend. Would definitely go back to the more of what they had on the menu. read more

Food: The dip was excellent -- definitely a 5/5. The margaritas were about a 3/5; my first one had debris in it from an un-rinsed shaker, but they did remake it. My husband's burger came out very undercooked and the fries were flimsy and underdone, and even the bun was uneven in temperature. We had to send the meal back, which made the experience disappointing over all. The plates we were given were unclean. Service: The staff was polite and ultimately handled the issues -- they remade my drink and took the problem items off the bill. Replaced plates with clean ones. However, it did take a while to get someone's attention, even though the restaurant wasn't very full at the time, so the delays added to the frustration. Ambiance: We really liked the space -- the warm brick, dim lighting, and vintage-style décor give it a cozy, inviting vibe. It's a great-looking bar area and the atmosphere was a highlight of the visit. read more

This spot came highly recommended from some friends that are locals to the area - we see why! Cool vibe inside with great food! We got a dip appetizer, some cocktails and wine, and the steak and frites and lamb. Everything was delicious! Only complaint is that the steak was quite fatty which is not my taste. Everything else - ambiance, our waitress, the rest of the food, the Toledo 85 cocktail made up for the steak though (: Although I don't remember our waitresses name - she went above and beyond and was wonderfully pleasant! May have to go back to try the burger next time we are there. read more

As someone who travels for food and lives to connect people with quality dining experiences across Northwest Ohio, Hannon's Block in Toledo is an absolute gem worth celebrating. From the moment you step inside, it's clear this place operates on a different level. Hope and Faith, two of the most attentive and genuinely kind waitresses I've had the pleasure of meeting, bring warmth and energy to every table. Their service is seamless, personal, and elevates the whole experience. Behind the bar, Skyler is a standout. His espresso martini is the kind of cocktail you remember--it's rich, balanced, and expertly made. The house Old Fashioned is equally top-tier: bold, smooth, and crafted with intention. Sunday brunch here is iconic. The Block Bloody Mary is practically a local legend, and when paired with their corned beef and eggs, you've got a brunch worth bragging about. Dinner? Get the Steak Frites. It's done right--flavorful, cooked to perfection, and plated like they mean it (because they do). And it's not just the front-of-house stars. Huge kudos to the entire staff--from the kitchen team to the support crew. Every dish that comes out, every clean surface, every smooth transition from drinks to dessert speaks to a team that works with pride and precision. Hannon's Block doesn't just serve great food--they create a memorable, high-quality experience from top to bottom. If you're local or just passing through, this is one spot in Northwest Ohio you absolutely need to put on your radar. --Spreading quality, one bite at a time. RLF III read more

The food at our last visit left much to be desired and was not as good as other times. It was my first time here and I had high hopes. The lamb chops were cooked unevenly and mint was listed as an ingredient, but I could not taste it. The mashed potatoes were good but needed more seasoning. The broiled salmon was plain too. The mushroom tagliatelle also didn't have much flavor. The fries were off putting and not good at all. The waitress was friendly and the interior had a good vibe so those were nice! read more

I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant, it had a pleasant atmosphere. We ordered two espresso martinis, but they came out in noticeably different colors and tasted completely different. While neither was bad, the inconsistency was disappointing. I also tried the housemade veggie burger, which was okay but nothing special.. I wouldn't order it again. The arugula salad was better, quite good even, but still not something l'd return specifically for. Overall, while the experience wasn't terrible, it wasn't particularly memorable either. If friends invited me, l'd give it another shot, but wouldn't go out of my way to return. read more

So this place has always been pretty cool. And now, with a fun bar (Hannon's Garage Bar) attached, it's even cooler. So, from the mismatched silver wear and barstools, the bare brick facades, and the cool music playing overhead, Hannon's Block has a very appealing atmosphere. It's comfortable, clean, and...cool. Perfect so far. Its location is in the heart of downtown Toledo. Cool. Still perfect. The service has always been great. Ok, yeah...still perfect. So H'sB MAY be a little overpriced. No longer perfect, but seriously good enough. I'll be honest. The food is (damned) good, but by no means is it the best in town. I've raved about the roasted broccoli, but the last time I had it, it was "just OK." The burger and the chicken sandwich are also good, but not great. I do think that the food is a little under seasoned...at this point we're no longer perfect. There are times when I drink, and there are times when I do not. H'sB can accommodate either Mike P. They have a very well curated selection of beer, a fairly decent wine list, a pretty OK list of whiskey/spirits. ALSO, they make some excellent virgin drinks. Not quite perfect, but rounding up... FIVE STARS! read more

Great spot in Toledo! We stopped here after a visit to the zoo and were so happy we did. It's got a bit of an eclectic vibe inside. Our server was great and very accommodating. We were all pleased with our food. The artichoke feta dip was amazing. This is a must try! The house made tortilla chips were so good. We also tried the Farm greens salad which was also delicious and refreshing on a hot day. The buffalo chicken wrap was just ok and I do think the fries could have been better for this type of establishment. For dessert we went with the chocolate cream pie which we were told won an award. I can definitely see why because it was outstanding! Overall we were very pleased. read more

This place is alllllllll about that thick cut bacon, let me tell you! The breakfast potatoes were also solid. The deviled eggs, I would skip next time. They come to your table ice cold and need to warm up significantly, and even then, the flavor just wasn't for me. The space is cool, old timey, Formica tables reminiscent of grandma's kitchen...very open and nice inside, but also quite echoey so might get loud when they're busy. Very convenient location right downtown. We came in for breakfast/brunch on a weekend. I am interested to come back to try their dinner menu all the same! I'd come back for breakfast and order extra thick cut maple glazed bacon any day, tho. That one was a hands down winner. read more

Friend and I have been trying to grab dinner here for months but things kept preventing us from coming. Finally got the chance to last night. Cool atmosphere and amazing staff. Seriously our waitress was one of the better ones I've had in awhile. Just top notch from start to finish. We both got burgers because that's what they are known for. It was an average burger but nothing special. Fries were good but along the same line. Got the chocolate crème pie and was again not wowed. Had a fudgy consistency rather than a crème I would expect from a chocolate pie. If I were downtown already I'd come back. Wouldn't really make the special trip downtown just for the restaurant. Always a pain with parking and other BS. read more

We made a reservation to try this place for a first time. We arrived a little early and asked if there was anything available early or if we would need to wait. She said we would need to wait for our reservations even with several open tables. She offered we go wait on the bar side which is hannons garage. The whole vibes on hannons garage are not good and is just uncomfortable. They have very limited mixed drinks on the bar sides. Once it was our reservation time we came back and got sat. They sat us in the table right next to the bathroom and the door for hannons garage. It was very loud and had a lot of foot traffic. The table probably should even exist. We got espresso martinis to start which came out totally different. They both tasted good but seemed like total different recipes. I got the boasted chicken because the server said she preferred it over the steak. It was good, but not amazing and just okay for the price. I would give them another try if I was invited. Maybe get the steak as the people next to me ordered it and really liked it. read more

Went for birthday dinner and had great service and wonderful food! It was there first night being open on a Tuesday so it was a little quiet in there but it was nice atmosphere. Came here before a walleye game. A quick walk from the Huntington center. There was a garage bar connected to the restaurant section. Loved the look of the place. It could be dressed up or casual. I liked that the menu wasn't huge but had many options. I got the spicy Paloma. It was very good and refreshing but wasn't spicy spicy. Large cocktail, beer, and wine selection. For dinner I had the burger with fries and a side of their Brussel sprouts. I added bacon to my burger and that's a must. The thick bacon was chefs kiss bc the burger was on the drier side for my liking. Fries are skinny and had a good crisp. I couldn't stop eating them. Can't wait to come back and try other dishes. Hannon's Block has that industrial vibe with a menu right out of your grandma's kitchen. They have a great beer, wine and cocktail list. Everything is made in house - down to the cocktail syrups. Their menu is packed with comfort foods. Amazing burger, fried walleye, steak frites. I love their chicken drumettes and love the homemade ranch and calabrian chili oil they're served with. One of the best sides on the menu is the bruleed sweet potato. It's like a sweet, crunchy, delicious dessert. For dessert, their chocolate pie won the best dessert during the Italian bowl.
