I had a mixed experience at Table 45. While the atmosphere was nice, the service was not. It was very slow, and our food didn't come out all at once, which made the meal feel a bit disjointed. That said, the highlight of my visit was actually the Moscow Mule I ordered at the bar. It was perfectly made. Three stars feels about right. Kind of a tragedy of unfulfilled potential. Nice looking menu and lovely room, but for our (admittedly early) dinner, we were surprised that this restaurant claiming to be at least part sushi bar HAD NO SUSHI. Perhaps a consequence of the NCAA Tourney being in town, but I'd have expected the server to let us know that before we were seated or when we sat down rather than as I began to place my sushi order. Our meal turned out simple -- a couple of salads, a couple of glasses of champagne, and a curry bowl, all of which were perfectly good. Service was a little uneven... The final hiccup was when they sent the restaurant's host over to the bar to let me know that my dinner companion had apparently taken the wrong copy of the receipt...leading to me calling them, ask for a copy of the tab to ensure they were tipped properly...and waiting for a while...only to be told that everything was ok (without apology or explanation). Bar request (black manhattan) was, in my experience, pretty standard...but a total mystery to the bartender... End result was somewhat grim if drinkable...but not worth the trouble to send it back given the experience so far... So, nice menu IF everything is available, pretty good food, but pretty clumsy service for the price point. read more

Oh my gosh!!! We love sitting in the lounge area, so much going on and not as much pretense. My husband and I are here every 1-3 months and we eat here every 3-6 months or so. We prefer to sit in the lounge area; our only pet peeve is that they send large groups to the hostess stand inside the hostess area to wait on a table where are eating or drinking to wait on a table. Seriously wait in the alcove like a normal person. The food is top notch and the wait staff is awesome. We always have the same waiter and he always remembers us. We absolutely adore Table 45 and highly recommend them when you are in town. I didn't take any pics because we were too busy eating; LOL. read more

My first ever visit to Cleveland staying at the Intercontinental and I'm tired and hungry. It's Saturday night and I don't have a reservation. So I hope for the best and head to Table 45 at the hotel. Where is everyone?! There was no one there at nearly 7pm. So we basically had the place to ourselves and it was so quiet. The hostess was very welcoming and seated us at a comfy booth in the air conditioning which was nice because it was so humid. The outside patio looks very nice though. Our waitperson was very nice but drink service was on the slow side. Remember there is NO ONE here! We went with Pride month drinks, the Queen Fizz and the Absolutely Fabulous. The Ab Fab was the winner for taste, but Queen Fizz had flashing ice cubes which was fun. Warm bread rolls and olive oil was brought to the table. We ordered Butter Chicken, the lettuce salad with chicken, roasted potatoes and roasted carrots. The food was really good and the prices were about average. My one criticism was that the salad was over dressed. Way too much dressing. Order dressing on the side. The entire experience was really very good. I just can't understand where everyone was. I guess the good folks in Cleveland don't hang out in hotel restaurants on a Saturday night in June. read more

This is a lovely restaurant with fantastic food and I highly recommend it to anyone staying in the InterContinental Hotel or anywhere else near the Cleveland Clinic. It is not cheap - entrees range from high 20s to 50 or more. But the quality, inventiveness and attention to detail justify the price. I had a seared halibut entree which was done perfectly and probably the best halibut I've had. Caesar salad was very good and even the bread was top notch with a perfect crust and soft, warm middle. Service at the bar was excellent. Some reviewers have found the restaurant too brightly lit for an upscale dining experience. It could have been a bit more subdued, but it seemed normal at the bar. I think the restaurant is probably mindful of the large number of older customers who are patients or families of patients at the Clinic. For those of you who like a restaurant where you can see your food and hear your companions, it's a find! Again, some of the best food I've had in Cleveland! read more

I enjoy the food here, the service, and the ambiance. What I don't enjoy is the fact that a group of interns sitting in a "pod" where they think there words are not heard in the middle of the bar dining area, use foul language and talk about the physicians they're under while making fun of procedures or patients. They can be heard. When I mentioned to the manager on duty that they needed to clean up their language, he did nothing. It's inappropriate, and unnecessary. People dining here have loved ones and family members that they are concerned about. They don't need to hear sarcasm from a group of young male interns who find humor in what they experienced from their mentors. Nor does anyone dining need to hear the language coming from these young men. Very disrespectful. And very disappointing on the part of management. I've dined here often and found this experience to be reprehensible. As an aside note, while dining at the bar, twice I had a gnat land in my wine. Twice! Two separate glasses. You would think the second time they would offer the glass on the house. It's not that I don't want to pay for it. It's the principle of service. The third glass of wine came with a coffee cover to keep from anything else floating in my glass. That tells me something. Very disappointing. read more

I was at the Table 45 Easter brunch buffet. It was excellent! The atmosphere was elegant yet very welcoming. The buffet was very encompassing, beautifully laid, and delicious. The guitarist/singer was spot on with a lovely mix of entertaining without being obtrusive. Everyone working was very kind and helpful. The highlight, however, was our server Valentina. She remembered details about us despite not seeing us in many months. She was very friendly, professional, and efficient. Honestly, she is reason enough to visit Table 45-everything else is a bonus! read more

I had always wanted to eat here but was afraid it would be an overpriced disappointment. But with an upcoming anniversary paired with a pre-Jerry Seinfeld show, the time was right. It did not disappoint. Everywhere is pricey these days so I might be becoming immune to the cost of eating out, but it wasn't as bad as I feared. For the appetizers, salad, soup, entrees, drinks and dessert we spent about $160 plus the tip for the excellent server who was unfailingly upbeat and friendly. Remember the context: a higher-end, dinner-only restaurant and well-stocked bar with creative cocktails and decent wines...in a hospital-connected hotel (InterContinental at Cleveland Clinic). To have this level of food available without having to leave the hospital campus (especially when you're from out-of-town) is a rarity. Many of the dishes have a slightly Indian flair, but they also offer several steak and seafood options. We ate here twice during our stay trying the seared scallop pasta, beef tenderloin, ricotta gnocchi, and mahi mahi -- all were fantastic. The bartenders were friendly -- in particular a young man behind the bar on 5/31 took the time to engage with us and explain some of the neighborhood's history and development. The only negative was the overly bright lighting, but we concluded its intent was to assist patrons including clinical staff reviewing information at the table. Table 45 was more of a mixed experience that I was expecting. I love Zach Bruell's restaurants - just detour to check my rave reviews of L'Albatros - so my expectations were high. I'll start with the positives and will end with the less positives, so we start on a positive note. People's opinions are always personal, but I don't know how anyone can claim food here is less than 5 stars. From the ingredients, to the cooking, to the plating, everything is a festival to your eyes and, most important, to your palate. We started with the roasted lamb lollipops that are perfectly seasoned and cooked and pair really well with the chickpea and cucumber raita. My wife had the grilled vegetable platter, adding up the scallops, that was also great, and I had a divine pasta with vegetables and seared scallops. The pasta was as al dente as can be, ultra fresh and deliciously decorated with a delicate but flavorful and not excessive sauce. The dessert was another highlight, the goat cheese custard with honey comb is to die for, a beautiful creation and a taste you will not forget. Some of the best food ever tasted in Cleveland, so what's off the perfect rating? The service was considerably off. You cannot have a restaurant with this quality of food in a luxury hotel and not pay attention to detail. It rubbed us off from the start how the hostess received us, sounding difficult to sit us in a patio with plenty of tables where no one else sat after us. From that point on, people were nice but the restaurant is clearly understaffed and that reflects in some parts of the service, such as no one taking your appetizer plates for a long time after you're done, to long wait times for some parts of the service, or a smoked old fashioned being advertised as smoked tableside and that not happening. It is a difficult time for everyone in the hospitality industry and I get it, we are super patient in general and even more during this pandemic phase, but when you are in the upscale dining business there are some thresholds that you need to meet, or you can't function up to expectations. In summary, the food is so amazing that we will consider coming back, but really hopeful that they sort out the service issue, as dining out is a lot about the food but almost as much about the experience. read more

Came here for a business dinner. Classy ambiance in a hotel with lots of seating including some closed off areas for groups. Service was great and our server was very attentive. I had the striped bass which was flavored well with tarragon and pine nuts. There was complexity in the flavor without being overwhelming or unbalanced. The bass came with skin (which I personally love). However, I wish more veggies were included. This establishment is classy, but not off-putting. The restaurant is easily accessible for Cleveland Clinic staff as well as patients and family which I love. It's normal to see an array of patrons - dressed up, business casual, jeans, or scrubs. They also provide excellent bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar while you are waiting as well. I didn't drink or have dessert, but both menus looked great. Definitely a great place to consider for a work function or fancy date night. It is pricey which is on par with what is expected. read more

My husband and I are in Cleveland because my husband has to have a procedure at Cleveland clinic. We are staying at the Holiday Inn and the other evening we decided to go to dinner table 45. While staying at the hotel I tried eating at this restaurant on multiple occasions out of connivence. The food is mediocre at best, you can get much better food elsewhere and for cheaper. My husband and I dined at Table 45 for Valentine's Day to use a gift certificate I win at an auction a few years ago. We love Bruell restaurants, but this experience disappointed. When seated, the manager gave us a choice of a table shoved in a corner or one next to the exterior door, despite at least a dozen open tables in the dining room. After I hesitated a moment, he offered us another option closer to the center of the room looking into the kitchen from one side and onto the beverage station from the other. Fine, but it still got a major draft and I witnessed (and could hear) another manager yelling at a line cook. Not exactly romantic ambience. Our beverages were excellent if not a little overpriced (smoked old fashioned for him, Stoller Pinot noir for me). Then things took a turn for the worse. While taking our dinner order, our server visibly was trying to communicate with someone across the room, shaking her head and mouthing something. Finally, as she asked my husband how he wanted his venison (that night's special) prepared, she walked away from us mid sentence. She didn't return until several minutes later. And she picked up where she left off without acknowledging what happened earlier. The whole experience made us feel like we were second-rate guests. Food was fine but not worth the price point. (Thank goodness for the gift certificate.) I started with the sweet potato soup that was too heavy on the spice for me but I chalked that up to personal preference. My husband's Caesar salad was fine, though he said the greens were a bit wilted. The beef tenderloin ($55) was cooked to the right doneness but not all that flavorful, and my asparagus was just ok. The twice baked potato accompaniment was excellent and piping hot. Husband's venison was overdone - he ordered medium and it had only a touch of pink and was tough. Portion was small for him. In all, we said we'd have been pretty upset with the evening had it not been for the gift certificate. Wouldn't recommend coming and paying full price. We've dined here once before and had a remarkable evening and experience but this fell way short. read more

We ordered deviled eggs and they were excellent perfectly savory. The plating was gorgeous! We also ordered Naan which I could not taste as I am gluten free due to celiac disease but the plating and presentation absolutely on point! I will definitely return! Hospital bars need to be standard service feature if medically allowed! Table 45 is eons above a hospital cafeteria! It was a great experience! The only thing that keeps my review from reach five stars is that the contemporary French flair of his sister restaurant perhaps raised the bar too high. Nestled into the decadent Intercontinental Hotel, a romantic ambiance is set that if anything can border on a bit excessive. This restaurant is convenient for lunch or happy hour if you work in the area, however the service is really slow! On multiple occasions, I would have liked to have ordered something else off the menu, but there was no server in sight for 30 minutes. It's also a pain when you are trying to leave but need to wait and wait to flag down a waiter to get the bill. So, anyone can see based on my previous reviews that I'm very selective in reviewing and usually it's in regards to customer service. In my opinion good food can be ruined by bad service but the experience of good service can enhance the food. I've eaten here for the last 3 dinners and food is good but not 5 stars. I've had the Calamari, soups, table 45 roll, spinach salad and the short rib for those 3 dinners. The dinners were good but in the lounge, the attention and table touches (Chris/John) one gets, were awesome and does not leave you in wanting. We came to enjoy the chefs table for my birthday celebration. We regularly do upscale dining. This was absolutely exceptional! I loved everything about it. Head chef Zack and all of his kitchen staff were amazing. The multi course meal we enjoyed was superb in both taste and presentation. We had cocktail pairings with each meal course that were expertly crafted by the bartender John! And I can't forget to mention our server Mark. He helped make the whole experience more enjoyable. We tried to get into L'Albatros on a Saturday night and they were just too busy, so we decided to try Table 45 since we were going to a Jazz event at the Intercontinental Hotel and I have to say we were very disappointed. Located inside the Intercontinental Table 45 is a sprawling space which struck as as sterile and off-putting. When we walked in at about 9pm on a Saturday night the place was nearly empty with no energy at all. The service was slightly off the whole night, from a hostess who was too busy on the phone to greet us and who didn't know who the chef was, to a waiter who wanted to over describe dishes, this was very disappointing for what is suppose to be one of Cleveland's better restaurants. The menu is a bit hard to figure out with a mix of different cuisines; Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Mediterranean are just some of the influences. This can be exciting and innovative when done right, but it seemed to us to just end with uninteresting dishes. We started with the Eggplant Fries, which were strips of eggplant panfried with chickpeas and with a side of spiced yogurt; the dish was ok, with a slightly Indian flavor, but it was overall bland, no tang or spice to my taste. I had the Walleye entree, a nicely prepared square of mild fish served over a potato and edamame hash with what was described as a dashi ponzu vinegar. While the fish was nice, the hash lacked any real impact and the sauce did not have any acidity or flavor profile like it was described. When I spend $28 for a fish dish I expect something interesting and impactful, what I got was OK, but that is not sufficient. Over the years I have heard good things about Table 45, what I found was disappointing on almost every front. Overall Table 45 seems to have run its course and is desperately in need of a redesign both for the room and the menu. There is no energy or buzz for this restaurant, and with all the new places opening up it is time to try something else. read more

Atmosphere: I really think they missed on the "modern" feel. The bar area at least, resembles the boarding area of an airport. Maybe that's the look they were going for. I didn't like it at all and felt it gave a weird vibe. They did have another dining room which looked comfortable and cozy. We were sat in between the two in front of the sushi bar and kitchen area. Is this place dressy or casual? I went thinking it was dressy --- it seemed half the patrons were dressy and half were casual. The wine offerings also confused me. They had bottles on their wine list that you could purchase at Giant Eagle. They have expanded their offerings at GE, so maybe this is not as weird as it sounds? I don' know. We had a big group so I was lucky enough to try a few different things off the menu. Onto the food, AMAZING! Everything was great. We started out with the Naan which was accompanied by 3 delicious sauces: hummus, olive tapenade, and some sort of spicy mayo-y sauce possibly. The naan was perfectly cooked and served warm. Of the three dipping sauces I preferred the spicy one and olive tapenade to the hummus. We have the Table 45 roll which was delicious. Followed by the Arugula Salad --- with pine nuts!!! I love pine nuts so that was a great addition and the light citrus vinaigrette was a great balance to the bitter arugula. Entree wise: I ordered the short ribs. WOW! They were packed with flavor and fell apart like butter. I didn't use a knife at all. The mixture of the squash and potatoes was pretty good. The short ribs were really really great and I'm salivating thinking about them. I also tried the duck. It was excellent - packed with flavor. Cooked to perfection. It was my dad's entree and he enjoyed it more than the duck he ordered from Lola last weekend. Needless to say, food was delicious and we will definitely be back! Our normal Christmas Day restaurant is now closed, and our search for another place to dine led us to Table 45. No Regrets!!! The prime rib was amazing! So tender and flavorful! The waiter's wine selections were excellent. The Dark Chocolate Bread Pudding was scrumptious. We may choose to go back next Christmas even if the other restaurant reopens! Regarding COVID procedures, all staff wore masks, patrons were spread out (it wasn't very busy anyway). Our temperature was taken before entering the restaurant. We were in town and had limited immediate options for dinner close by Cleveland Clinic. Well, we were so pleasantly surprised and satisfied with this place. From the sweet server, Camille caring for our every need to the fantastic salads, frise and pear as well as the warm kale. Both delicious. The short rib and blue cheese grits along with the Lolly pop lamb chops, both fantastic. The drinks were very good, unique and tasty. Highly recommend this cute little place. First night in Cleveland wanted to hit up something good & gluten free which was close to our hotel (Intercontinental). Found this joint on Yelp and took a shuttle from our hotel to this place which is located inside another Intercontinental hotel. This restaurant and bar is decorated very cool, and has like a shoot a music video inside of here feel to it, none the less first impressions of a Cleveland restaurant were legit. Real sleek and elegant and good views, the bar is pretty large itself. The bartender however lacks basic drink mixing skills, 3 cocktails he made completely sucked. Appetizer: Pork Wraps, these were pretty decent, tasty, and gluten free. Appetizer 2: Lady got the naan bread appetizer and liked it. (not gluten free) Main Course:Burgundy Braised Short Ribs (GF) which was pretty tasted and had a good beef stock juicy flavor to it, id order it again. The carrot side mixed with the sauce was nom nom. Dessert: Creme Bru Le which was a little cold and not really a toasted top but none the less was tasty. Service: Our lady was pretty decent for being a dead restaurant, however at check out took a few minutes to find her. If your in the hotel's around here and looking for a decent bite to eat with a slight tough of class this place will do it for you. read more

Cleveland is blessed with talented chefs. Our usual go-to is Michael Symon, but we've had a few great meals at Alley Cat and heard good things about Zac Bruell's other restaurants, so for my husband's last birthday we gave Table 45 a try. Long story short, we had a good meal, but it didn't live up to the hype or our expectations. The food: --Caesar salad: we don't get any points for creativity on our order here, but they don't get any points for extra effort, either. There are standout Caesars out there, and while this was tasty, it wasn't memorable. --Short ribs: my entree was the best thing we ordered. The short ribs were fork-tender and the sauce was excellent. The polenta had a wonderful flavor, but could have been thicker. The portion was huge, and I enjoyed this one twice. --Grilled beef tenderloin: my husband's steak was very good, but not $58 good-- there's more impressive cuts of beef to be had in Cleveland. They did a good job making it medium rare, but could have seasoned it a bit more. They were a bit skimpy with the brandy cream sauce, but it was delicious and they did eventually provide a little more sauce upon request. --Creme brûlée: very good. Service: friendly and professional, but not as responsive as you'd hope for at this price point. Atmosphere: odd. This is in the first floor of the very modern InterContinental Hotel in the Cleveland Clinic, and instead of feeling chic, it ends up feeling kind of sterile. It's also distracting when hotel guests use the restaurant back door as an entrance to the hotel; hotel guests have every right to be comfortable in gym clothes and hoodies, but it kind of detracts from the fine dining vibe the restaurant is going for. "A-OK" is three stars, and that sounds about right. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but it didn't discourage me from wanting to try more of Zac Bruell's creations, and I wouldn't discourage you from going if you're staying at the hotel or visiting the hospitals or university. read more
