And I thoroughly enjoyed the blackened Redfish with smoked Gouda cheese grits. Perfectly cooked and memorably delicious. The food was not bad but also not fantastic....the carrots as an additional vegetable is never exciting had I know it was carrots I probably would have asked for something else they were not the best. In the past decade or so I've been traveling to Tallahassee, I've noticed a significant improvement in the food scene. Somehow, I never made it to Table 23, but on a recent trip enjoyed brunch with my family under the huge and picturesque tree. Parking was busy with Valet only, but they were quick and friendly. We didn't have reservations, but the helpful hostess said the wait was about 30 minutes, so we took a seat at the bar to enjoy a cocktail. The chandeliers hung with boat rope sum up the cool, yet casual laid-back design and we enjoyed the open-air environment, which was lively, but not too loud for conversation. All the bartenders were quite busy but friendly. Quick to make eye contact and let you know they were about to help you. Bartenders around town can take a tip from these guys. The cocktail menu was varied and unique and we all enjoyed what we had. If you enjoy spicy, make sure to try the Prickly Pineapple Margarita which had the perfect balance of heat and sweetness. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable, I only wish I could recall his name! Without exaggeration, we tried every single one of his suggestions and they were all great. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes, which honestly, we could have eaten another plate of! Granted we are here in the midst of summer, so you know the tomatoes will be delicious, but these were beyond good. Our table enjoyed Steak & Eggs, Chicken & Waffles and the Ciri Omelet, along with an order of Sticky Buns. I rarely order steak outside because I like it RARE. As in, kick the cow and season it, rare. I told our server this and they did not disappoint. The chicken and waffles had great flavor; however, the waffle was cold which took away from the dish. The omelet was fantastic, and every bite was eaten. And did we mention the Sticky Buns? They were ridiculously good. Soft and doughy with a toasty outside and tasted every bit homemade. They were devoured. Not sure why others have had negative experiences, but we had a great meal and were impressed with the attentiveness and friendliness of all the staff - from the parking lot to the table. The restaurant has a semi-sports bar-type vibe or seemed it while out near the bar, but the indoor part of the restaurant seemed a little more formal. I had the meatloaf which was fantastic and my wife had a burger which she also loved. The drinks were also pretty good. I loved the ambience. They played 50-60s doo wop music which is a personal favoriand the lighting was appropriate for a valentines date. The dress code was flexible to the point that you and your date could be dressed very differently and both parties will still feel comfortable and in place. Came to this place on my 30th birthday because it looked really nice. The atmosphere was great sitting outside with the lights and the heaters. The food and service left much to be desired though. I'm a big fan of grouper, so I was excited to see they had a grouper entrée. The grouper was not good at all (not sure how you can screw up grouper with crab on top, but they did), and the squash was completely undercooked. I let the waiter know, and he was like "well that is very disappointing to hear. Can I get you a desert?" The guy had the skill of a chili's waiter. BTW no free dessert on your Bday also. While the place looks nice, it's very expensive for the quality of food and service you receive. They also have no free parking. They have a parking lot but it valet only. If you are looking for a good nice place to eat, I would recommend Harrys'. They are $10 cheaper per entrée and the food and service are much better. Also Harry's only costs like $1 to park vs expensive valet here. I prefer places that focus on the food and customer experience, rather than places that try to nickle and dime you. read more

Table 23 is a GREAT addition to Tallahassee. I understand that a few restaurants existed in the spot prior to its existence, but I hope this business lasts. One of the best things about Table 23 is the ambiance! I LOVE that I can sit at a bar or in a restaurant but it be like a HUGE covered patio. Its covered enough where I can feel like I'm outside but I'm not...well (technically)....I don't recall there being too many walls. This restaurant is well decorated and classy looking even though the vibe is extremely casual. There is a great happy hour and an awesome Sunday brunch. So let's talk about brunch. For $13 you can get unlimited Mimosas (classic, cranberry or grapefruit) or Bellini's. I love that you can mix up the type and aren't limited to sticking to the first choice selected. I had 3 and was barely able to finish all three. Next time we may Uber there. :) SERVICE: The bartenders were super nice and personable. Their service was quick and precise. The last time I was there, we were just kind of chatting and wanted to drink a litter before ordering food and they were ok with that. We didn't feel rushed to order nor did we feel rushed to pay once we were finished. Our mimosa glassed were big and almost filled to the top....thus supporting why I was barely able to finish 3. FOOD: The chicken and waffles were AMAZING! I've never really been a fan of chicken and waffles. The concept of "fried chicken with syrup" just never set well with me. Food super fresh and seemed to be all done in house. I ordered the Grouper bites with hush puppies to help support the Pecan Old Fashioned I was sipping on. And I'm very particular about my Gulf fish, these tasted like we just caught it, went home, grabbed a beer and fried them up in the backyard. Homemade tarter sauce, again assuming based on taste. Hush puppies were yum. Great starter dish to nibble on with a beer or drink. I got the burger that came with caramelized onions and Gorgonzola cheese. Think it had a bacon jam as well. Either way the burger was smoky, salty, and sweet all at the same time. I did not get the cheese but that would have added a creamy element if your into that curd. I don't live in Tallahassee, but whenever I do come to visit, I try to get to Table 23 at least once. I really like that they have indoor/outdoor dining. My daughter and son in law asked what I wanted to do for Mother's Day and I mentioned going to Table 23 for dinner on Saturday. There was a problem getting an answer I order to make a reservation, but outside of that, I really enjoyed my dinner and the ambiance every time I've gone. They have good and attentive waiters/waitresses and I enjoy the coffee rubbed ribeye, with asparagus and fingerling potatoes , with hot wings as an appetizer ( that I usually take home (after eating a couple) for lunch the next day. Buffalo sauce is really good. I don't drink, but my daughter and son in law enjoy their drinks. Overall, I'd say, if you're in Tallahassee, stop in at Table 23, you'll enjoy it! read more

My and my roommates went to this restaurant for a 21st birthday dinner. We got the cheese and meats board as an appetizer which was very good. We cleaned the plate but pretty small for $20 and very small for 5 people. Would have been best for 2 or 3 people, maybe 4 depending on how much you wanted. Then we ordered the meals pictured below. The burgers were great. The filet was really good. The tacos were good. The fish was a little bit fishy tasting, possible cause of the crab. The cocktails were okay. The service was good. We did sit outside but it was nice. We also got the Mac and cheese which was pretty good but nothing special. I would not recommend the truffled tots. You can't even really taste any truffle. In anticipation of a fun Daddy-Daughter date night meal, I called and made a reservation for 7pm. When asked which I preferred, indoor or outdoor, I stated we would like to sit outdoors. It was, after all, a beautiful night in the upper 60's and they have patio heaters. When we arrived, 5 minutes prior to our reservation and walked to the host stand, they didn't ask if I had a reservation and informed me that there was no outdoor seating. When I informed them that I had made a reservation, the reply was that they had large parties out back and it would be a long time before they opened up seating back there. I then asked if she needed my name to clear my reservation and she dismissed the idea, and told me that the person seating us could take my name, if I wanted. We were ushered in to a relatively empty restaurant and seated right between the door to the patio and with a view of the kitchen. This was the best they had for us? Our server greeted us quickly, and in a hurried manner. After delivering that weird tasting Tallahassee restaurant water (it doesn't taste skunky at home, but many restaurants in town seem to suffer from it), she returned to our table to see what we wanted to order. We informed her that our water had a bad taste and she offered us "fresh water" but we ordered tea and a soda. We also ordered the cheese curds. In what seemed like only moments, and rivaled the speed of food delivered from some Mexican or Chinese restaurants, our cheese curds arrived. There was a huge pile of them, with the top half being cool and rubbery and the bottom half still warm. I am betting we got some lingering order that was sitting back there. A steadfast non-complainer, I decided to not mention it and push on through the meal The server came back about 5 minutes later and took our orders. I ordered the Beet and Gorgonzola salad with an add-on of steak tips. My daughter ordered the Shrimp & Grits. Food took a reasonable amount of time to come to the table, so no real complaints there. The salad was okay. The steak tips were of a various mince / cut size and the cooking of them was not uniform at all. The shrimp & grits had a side-salad worth of arugula piled on top, which seemed a bit more than was in other Yelp photos, but expected. We felt rushed through the entire experience. Even the check came really quickly. It was pretty weird to make a reservation and want to have a really nice dinner with my daughter to be back in the car in under 40 minutes. We both agreed that the food was a 7 out of 10 and that we would be willing to come back and try it once more, but this was a pretty disappointing experience for our first visit. read more
