I arrived at Table 23 Tally at approximately 5p.m. to relax after a long week of work. I was having a good time with my family & friends, eating appetizers before ordering entrees. A hostess approaches our table saying they have a reservation & if we can be done by 7:45, that would be great and allow them to accommodate their reservations. We were never told upon being seated that we needed to be up at a certain time. My party was still ordering drinks & had not yet ordered entrees. One person from my party approached the hostess regarding the request and was told that if we did honor their request we would be comped a round of drinks. Her mere assumption that we would be moved to vacate for something for free is problematic in itself. But adding further insult, we were the only party ask to leave, when other tables arrived at the same time as us, but were never approached. The hostesses also ask our waiter to get us to leave. I would never assume a person was racially profiling me, but this would fall into those parameters. When I ask the manager to handle the situation he brushed it over and in attempt to identify with my being black, he asserted his European heritage. While I could've given him a whole history lesson on Europe and Africa, i didn't have the intellectual head to even go there. I am professional in this city who has supported local businesses. We want to see our city thrive and continue to have spaces to relax and unwind, but what I will not be disrespected. The saying still reigns true, support those who support you. Table 23 has to be my favorite 'Sunday Brunch' spot in Tallahassee. The patio area makes you feel as if you're not even in Tallahassee. The atmosphere is always great. Don't get me started on the menu. They serve everything from Gouda Cheese Grits to Fried Oysters. There is such a variety, a wide range of menu options. My personal favorite is the Chicken && Waffles. They're served with Blueberry Sriracha Syrup. You have the option of getting regular old maple syrup but, who wants that! Very impressed with this restaurant! Friends and I went for brunch on a Sunday. The wait was pretty long but we ended up catching seats at the bar and ordering there. I ordered a Rosè Sangria, the Peach Cobbler French Toast and a side of bacon. Everything I had was amazing and unique to this restaurant, which I appreciated. Great atmosphere for a Sunday brunch! This is a great brunch spot on a Sunday. We sat outside in the garden. There was outdoor seating that was enclosed with heaters, but it felt way too crowded. I had the top shelf bloody Mary. The adorned garnish was delicious. The bacon was perfection. I ordered the Crab cake eggs benedict for brunch. The eggs were soft and light. The creole hollandaise was not overwhelmingly spicy. Found this gem on yelp. We're in town for a business trip and I was looking for something I couldn't get back home. This was a perfect choice! All of the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The vibe is kind of modern farmhouse gastropub, with great lighting and art. We started with the ceviche, the fried oysters and pickles, and cheese curds. We ate them all before I remembered to take pictures. The buffalo sauce with the cheese curds was sooo good. I had the shrimp and grits (no mushrooms) with a side of tots for dinner. Hands down the best grits I've ever had. Tots were crispy and good. My coworker had the burger and added bacon. Nothing was left when we were done. Highly recommend this place. Three stars because I had a one star experience that was removed from Yelp because I was too "mean". Second time I received five star service. It's all in the matter of attitude. You cannot have a nasty and rude bartender when their number one job is customer service. EXTREMELY rude and I'm pulling the race card here because it was absolutely intentional. My husband is black and I am white and we received completely opposite service from the all-white couple who spoke to her immediately after us with whom she was very polite. Terrible impression for our first time there on our anniversary which was almost ruined had it not been for Midtown Caboose as a second choice. Second time, the manager on duty accommodated a very important work dinner for me and even bumped off a regular high roller who had our desired table. Table 23 probably has one of the best Happy Hour specials in Tallahassee because 1) it's all the time! And 2) great wines/cocktails are discounted. For the most part I visit for their drinks and sometimes have appetizers. The complimentary bread rolls they give you are delicious if fresh and warm (only once has the butter been basically frozen so unusable). Otherwise the pimento cheese and guacamole, fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, Gorgonzola chips and the egg rolls with chicken have all been great appetizers to go with my drinks. Brunch is okay, but I will say the charcuterie is pretty decent. But as far as dinner goes, I wouldn't suggest anything other than appetizers for the price point. Even though it was graduation weekend we were able to walk in around 4:30 Saturday and be seated within 15 minutes. Menu was limited and they were out of several items. The coffee rubbed steak was tender and flavorful. The appetizers came out fairly quickly but our main course took a little longer than expected. Everyone in our party was pleased with their food. The large windows make it feel like you are dining al fresco and there is a lovely patio area with spots to take pictures. I'm literally drooling thinking about this place. Everything here is DELICIOUS. I've been a few times and I always get the gulf grouper which is absolutely unreal. The shrimp and grits is also great! The drinks are really yummy too, I love the pomegranate martini. You seriously can't go wrong ordering anything here. We started with an appetizer of fries green tomatoes with a remoulade, the tomato was ripe and firm with a great seasoned breading. The remoulade, thankfully! was not overly mayo, it tasted really good with the fresh tomato. Our lunch entrees, my salmon was perfectly cooked, I enjoyed the verde sauce (forgot the true name) and overly cooked truffled tots. I would have preferred an in-house ketchup, and of course not overly fried tots. My partners enjoyed the catfish and their sides, no complaints. I've been to Table 23 quite a few times for happy hour and brunch and have never been impressed. I realize now that I was ordering the wrong thing. Had an early dinner with a friend. We started with the pecan crusted okra. Delicious, especially with the green goddess dip (always a favorite flavor of mine). We made our dinner choices but were convinced inside to order the special of the evening, the cedar plank roasted salmon with homemade chorizo, broccolini and mashed potatoes. Everything was excellent! The salmon was especially flavorful and tender! Even though I was full, my friend and I split a slice of key lime pie that was light and not overly rich or sweet. This was my first time at this place and I am extremely underwhelmed. Let's start with the positives; the decor is very nice. I always say that a good indicator of the quality of an establishment is the quality of their bathrooms, and I'm pleased to report that Table 23 does have very nice bathrooms. Clean, spacious, and very nicely decorated. The lights and color palette are calming enough to give you a moment of peace away from the hustle and bustle of the eating area, but not so dark that you aren't even able to accurately assess whether your own decor looks as good as when you left the house. Now the cons-- the food left a lot to be desired, extremely disappointing considering I did come to actually enjoy nice food, not just to get out of the house. I started off my night with the "Sparkling Rosé Peach Sangria" and this should've been the first sign that this night wasn't what I was expecting. I don't know if I'm used to my sangrias being made by generous bartenders or if 23 was being stingy with the wine, but this cocktail had WAY too much peach schnapps in it. All I tasted was a sugary, artificial peach flavor, not at all ideal for a cocktail or the beginning to an evening, but the Avissi I ordered afterwards was actually tasty so I still had hope. I love coconut shrimp so I of course got excited when I saw it on the appetizer menu. Again, left underwhelmed. If I wanted mediocre coconut shrimp I'd just buy some at the grocery store. The coconut coating was nicely crunchy and actually tasted like coconut, but the shrimp was not a spectacular quality and again: what is the point of going out to eat if I can have better food at home? For my first entrée I ordered the panko crusted rainbow trout and was severely disappointed. One bite and it was way too dry, and even worse absolutely no discernible flavor. It might've been better with a sauce and seasonings but I shouldn't have to figure out how to make the dish taste good when I go out to eat. I'm guessing the cooks had the same opinion because I can no longer find it on the menu. I ordered the pickled beet and blue cheese salad on the side, and it definitely needed a touch of salt and pepper but it was a nice salad overall. The sweet potato fries were lukewarm when I got them but they still had crunch, and thankfully perfectly seasoned; since I was hungry I ate them while I waited for my new entree. I ordered the ribeye to replace the trout and was again disappointed because it wasn't tender enough. I've grilled ribeyes rare/medium rare and they were perfectly tender and juicy. Maybe grilling renders the fat differently? Either way it wasn't enough to satisfy me, and I wasn't about to wait even longer for a new entree. The potatoes were really creamy and delicious so at least I didn't leave starving. I am bewildered as to why this place was as crowded as it was; maybe people are just stir crazy and are just happy to feel some type of normalcy again-- of course, obligatory mask requirements aside. I didn't even think to take pictures of everything, but just think of the food like a trophy wife: it looks good, but that's about it. All in all, it's not the worst experience I've had but it was far from the best. Probably won't come back but if I do then I'll of course post another review with pictures. read more

Table 23 has always looked so beautiful from the outside, so when it came to a date night, I insisted this was where I wanted to go! We made reservations for a Monday night, and I'm glad that we did! The porch was beautiful, a bit loud, but beautiful. Our waitress was very kind and attentive! Don't remember her name very well, I want to say it was either Jessica or Jennifer? (I'm sorry I forgot ) I ordered the filet cooked medium rare (subbed the brussel sprouts with asparagus). It was delightful!!! The fingerling potatoes were also so flavorful and delicious. My husband ordered the NY strip (medium) and had brussel sprouts instead of the chef vegetables. He scarfed it down. We both actually cleaned our plates. So so yummy! Attached are photos of our yummy meals! Also, both steaks were cooked perfectly to order. Maybe the only criticism I could find would be food presentation. $30+ for each dish would usually have a more "pretty" factor, but that's not a big deal and this isn't some cooking show lol. Per my 12 year old daughter: Food's a 9, the service is maybe a 6. Our server had tables in multiple completely different locations in the restaurant. We sat on the deck and for 8 tables and each table seemed to have a different server. So thats a management/planning issue. I enjoyed my trout and my husband enjoyed the grouper. In retrospect we would have waited to not sit on the deck due to the heat/sun. The hostess did mention that the seating was in bright light before seating us. One of the best restaurants in Tallahassee period. I have been here on multiple occasions and the food is always amazing. I usually start with one of their Caesar salads. It can be a little light on dressing at times, but it is always fresh and tasty. You can also ask for bread to be brought to the table (free of charge). The bread is delicious as is the butter served with it! My favorite entree so far has been the Lucky Goat Coffee-Rubbed Ribeye. The ribeye gushes with flavor and has a great texture with the coffee rub around it. The cooks consistently prepare my steak to perfection as well. The house-made steak sauce is probably my favorite steak sauce I have ever had. I would suggest getting an extra serving on the side (it's that good)! The fingerling potatoes are also excellent. I can't speak on the asparagus that comes with the meal because I usually sub it for fries, tots, or some other side. Any of the sides I have had are very good. If you are looking for a great dinner in a great atmosphere, Table 23 is definitely the place! They serve the best steaks in town (in my opinion) and all of the entrees I've tried are incredible. After living in Tallahassee for a year we finally gave Table 23 a shot and it was well worth it! For dinner, we decided to try the coffee-rubbed ribeye, mac and cheese, fingerling potatoes, and tater tots. I'm very particular about how my steak is cooked and it was perfect. The coffee-rub gave the steak an excellent taste and texture. Paired with the homemade steak sauce it was delicious. We even had to ask for more of the sauce! Went to Table 23 last weekend for brunch and it was fantastic. This was my second time going and I must warn you they will be packed and you will wait a while. However to me the food is worth the wait. I was lucky that me and my friend were able to secure a seat at the bar so we cancelled the wait for a table. Me and my other guest got the unlimited mimosas and the bartender kept our glasses filled. For brunch we had the fried green tomatoes which were just okay, cause I have had better. For our meals I had the omolette which I loved and my guest had the chicken and waffles which were very good. I enjoyed the environment and the nice bar setup outside. I even met some other great people while eating and they gave me more insight on this place and how great it was. Plan on coming for dinner real soon. read more
