We called ahead to determine if they could handle our party of 10 and they confirmed it would be no problem. We arrived and found a seat outside during some really beautiful north Florida weather. Our waiter was super sweet but had a hard time remembering what he was running back and forth to get. (I had to ask several times for silverware- we ate all the appetizers with our fingers which doesn't seem like the end of the world but it was messy) He took our drink orders and it took a very long time to get them all delivered - with again a few reminders of what was still missing. When our food came and they asked if we needed anything else we again asked for silver ware which he then brought right out. At that point he did a pretty good job checking to see if we needed anything else. The food was great. We ordered several different menu items and I heard no complaints which is pretty much a miracle when you have a party of 10 that included 5 years to 62 years in age ranges!! Note - the fried Brussels are fried dark. I personally love them that way but they might be a little too dark for some tastes. I ate the PoBoy like I was starving but it was fairly bland so just know that if you're expecting some spice. Despite our servers challenges, we had a great time and enjoyed the heck out ourselves. People come here to drink socially and eat what they're served. Food that is lower than subpar, 85% of the time (unless it's pasta, the pasta is great). Most of the service is good during slow times, find a GREAT server like Stephanie, Alexis (gone now with some great others) Belle or Jake who will actually provide great service slow or busy, and you will have at least a 50% great experience. The other 50% depends on who the cooks are for that shift. Listen to me, it WILL take about 45 minutes OR LONGER to get your food after ordering, 9x out of 10. And, typically, unless you have that GREAT server, it will be about 10 minutes before your food arrives, that you receive your drink order. Onto the actual food: The wings have been undercooked. CHICKEN WINGS. Burgers have been consistently burned & charred lately. We love coming here for the outside seating and normally decent food (a year ago, and maybe twice recently). After today, we know, the current manager doesn't appreciate knowing when food is undercooked or too salty, so be careful. If this place would listen to the "bad" reviews, online or in person, and work on it, then I believe the business would have a complete turnaround, and we can't wait to see it. Love Bumpa's. Had a wonderful recent visit here to celebrate the hub's new job. Chris was our server and he was amazing! We came impromptu on a Friday night and our party of 3 was seated right away. Everything we ate was good! The salad was fresh. The raspberry vinaigrette dressing was also good. The blue cheese Mac was tasty! The wings were cooked well, were a good size and the sauce was quite tasty. We also enjoyed nibbling on my son's chicken tenders and fries. The mixed drink upsize for $12 was worth the upgrade and we all enjoyed the carrot cake. read more

The normally amazing food and service wasn't great tonight. While the waitress was nice, it took a long time to get the food and it wasn't busy. The food was almost refrigerator cold. It was tasty as usual but there is something to be said about 'hot' wings being temperature hot too. The flavor was there as it always is but it was cold. We let the waitress know and they did take some off the bill which was nice. We will come back but it was disappointing compared to our usual experience. read more

This was my first time dining here. I thought the menu had some unique selections. I love burgers, so I chose the Cheddar Bacon Ranch burger and fries. The sweet tea was excellent, not too sweet. I ordered my burger medium, and I feel as though they cooked it to order. The burger had good flavoring. The bacon was good, how can it not be. The house-made ranch was decent. I have had some lately that were too sour. The burger was also nice and juicy. The fries were good. The seasoning on them was better than most places as it wasn't just salt. My server was amazing. First time visiting and the experience was pretty good. We sat at the bar and it took a little minute before someone approached us. It wasn't particularly busy and multiple waitresses and bartenders passed us before someone actually took our drink order. We got the wagyu sliders as an appetizer and they were really delicious. I ordered the shroom sandwich with crispy brussel sprouts and my partner ordered the blackened shrimp po' boy with house made chips. Everything was cooked really well and super flavorful. The brussel sprouts were extra "crispy" and could've been taken out of the oven a little sooner but otherwise the flavors were there. I am a fan of Bumpa's. It's a place I like to take friends who are in from out of town. I like to sit at the bar, drink a beer with my meal and maybe get an Old Fashioned after. My favorite entrees are the Pretty In Pink (seared tuna sandwich with pickled ginger and wasabi) and the Bologna Sandwich (a seared slab of bologna with sauerkraut, romesco and melted white cheddar). The Bumpa Rolls make for a great appetizer, and the fried Brussels sprouts are my favorite side. How are they doing, from a customer's perspective, during the pandemic shut down? Hours: They're operating 7 days a week from 11am until late at night. Can't ask for better than that. Menu: They're offering their full menu, including beer and the hard stuff. Ease of ordering: If you want delivery, you do it through BiteSquad. If you want curbside pickup, you phone in your order. I always order over the phone and haven't had any issues. Contactless service: Like many mom-n-pops, Bumpa's does not shine here. If you're picking up your food, the positive is you don't have to get out of your car. Great food and nice atmosphere. There were some mishaps but the manager made sure to resolve them. They were busy and I did overhear a staff member say they were short on staff which seems to be the norm at all restaurants. Highlights for me were the eggrolls and fried ribs appetizers. Food was fantastic but the service could use some improvement. Great spot to hangout with good eats and drinks however don't be in a rush. The manager did however talk to us and made me feel better about the areas this place was lacking. Last night I had dinner with a friend whom I have not seen in almost 20 years. I had suggested this place because I passed it when I was going to work today and thought it looked interesting. Tonight was trivia night and I have to say very interesting questions. Kendall was our waitress big shout out for her, she was excellent! Very customer centered, asked open ended questions, was able to talk about the various things on the menu and make Suggestions that were spot on. I have to start out by saying I've never had fried brussels sprouts and garlic sauce however she suggested it and I have to say what a winner! That fresh brussels sprouts were so full of flavor I could've eaten another tire bowl. Speaking of which though this was a side they give you a tremendous size portion! The Portabella mushroom burger was out of this world! I don't know what sauce they put on it but it's just enough to give it a rich blend of spices without being overpowering And does not trip on your hand. My friend had to hamburger which he said was excellent. Having never been there before he said he would definitely go back for their burgers. Overall this was a great evening. Well I'll be darned! I wrote this place off back when they first opened in February after someone posted some pics of the menu on Yelp. My reaction was that they took forever to open and that simple, uninteresting menu was all they could come up with? The few less than pleased reviews posted to Yelp shortly thereafter made me sure I wouldn't waste my time. Then, a couple of weeks ago, a friend raved about their fried bologna sandwich, brussel sprouts and sweet potato tots and I decided maybe I should check them out. Sure am glad that I did. The bologna sandwich is a creative delight. Thick slab of fried bologna, pickled jalapeños, sauerkraut, sharp cheddar and a roasted red pepper spread make for a taste combination that is spicy and very pleasing. You may not taste the bologna by itself, but the blend of tastes will make you happy. The sweet potato tots were good as well. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside with just sweet potato for the taste. Only thing missing was a drizzle of honey and I did that with some leftover when I got home. The brussel sprouts are fried but the result is the same as roasting them. Nicely seasoned with browned edges made for an enjoyable side. We also ordered the Lavash appetizer, a treat we discovered many years ago in our travels. The version here is very good with the crunchy, saltine like lavash covered in a melted havarti that had a little sweetness to it. A very generous portioned appetizer that will please many. The service was very good and attentive for an afternoon after 2 pm. The dining area is a large space with plenty of booths, tables and counters. They have lunch specials that include a side and save you a little over the regular menu price. They also offer several of their appetizers at a reduced price for Happy Hour from 2-7 M-F. read more

Food was fine - not great - and it took over an hour from the time we ordered it until the time it arrived! We were there at almost 2pm on a Sunday. So it shouldn't have been at a time when it's overly busy. The meal salads came out about 20 minutes before the other food (which was just simple stuff, like chicken fingers). Great food/great atmosphere. I've finally made it to Bumpa's to check it out. I've driven by here I don't know how many times, plus I've heard nothing but great things about this place. I chose to grab some food and watch some college championship football games in the process (wanted a spot with lots of TVs and a full bar). Bumpa's met the challenge. I ordered the Bumpa's burger with sweet potato tots (see the menu pic). This is now my favorite burger in Tallahassee! It was cooked perfectly and came out fairly quickly. I chose the "Tallahassee Donkey" for my beverage (very good). I can see me coming here often to explore the menu and watch sports. Bumpa's has consistently fit whatever mood my taste buds are having and appealed to even the pickiest of eaters I have had in tow. Whether I be dropping into Bumpa's for a dinner or lunch with friends or my husband, there is always something to share or feast upon while watching games or being entertained by karaoke (pre-pandemic but I hope it comes back!). Their Tokyo Drift wings are unique with a bit of Asian flare and a tinge of spice to help tickle the taste buds of the more adventurous foodie. Their fried brussel sprouts soak in some sauce or marinade that could be poured over various items on my plate and indulged upon with its savory nature and speckling of cheese. The pimiento egg rolls are a pleasant surprise, but beware because they are quite filling! I recently tried the Reuben and was pleased with the lightly toasted rye, fresh kraut, tender corned beef, and just the right amount of Thousand Island dressing. Do NOT skip out on their onion dip and homemade chips to start a meal as this is a crowd pleaser. Not on the menu, but quite delightful, is the cheese they use for their Philly (more of a homemade cheese whiz-esque concoction) poured on top of their homemade chips to serve as their version of nachos. I have plenty more to try and look forward to doing so. If craft beer is your thing, they have local and some other craft beers on tap with the domestics available in the bottle. read more

FSU Fans ~ Bumpas Does Not Like You We went to Bumpas today for FSU vs Miami. We asked for the best spot to see the game and the hostess sat us under a giant tv. When the game started, they switched every tv in the place to the FSU game and everything was great. We got dinner and several drinks. Midway through the first quarter, our tv suddenly switched to the Tennessee game. When we asked the male bartender to switch it back he told us that "his guys" asked for that game. He also told us 'it's on other tv, just look at one of the other ones.' The problem was the other tv's with FSU were farther away. When I looked at "his guys" I discovered it was some waitresses and waiters who just got off their shift at Bumpas. When I asked for the manager, the bartender said none was on duty. We then paid our check and left and enjoyed the rest of the game at a nearby sports bar. Bumpas does not value their FSU customers and will dump you for off duty staff members. read more

It took a little longer than over an hour to receive our food. I would understand more if the restaurant was packed, but it wasn't. The food once it did come out was delicious. When I got to Bumpa's the menu had me frazzled because the choices were amazing. After about 10 minutes of deliberation, I settled on the Fried Ribs and Macaroni & Fried Brussels Sprouts. The fried ribs were AMAZING, I should go back tomorrow. The fried Brussels sprouts had good flavor but were inconsistent throughout the entire dish. A solid local hangout spot on the Northeast side of town! Bumpa's has a sports bar/biker bar/american legion hall feel all rolled into one that actually seems to work for them. The whole place is relaxed and let's you enjoy a beer and burger with your buddies while chatting or watching a game. I went with the pimento burger with roasted brussel sprouts last time I was in and loved them! Pimento adds a great creaminess and zip to a burger and the South just knows how to do a burger right! The meat itself isn't really spiced, so it needs the toppings to add the flavor. The brussel sprouts, with garlic, oil, and parmesan cheese, make even big kids want to eat their vegetables and are a solid, unique side. The beer selection is pretty extensive, with quite a few local brews in addition to other popular national and Southeastern beers. I will say though that service was nice, if a little distracted, not seating us quickly after we walked in, since their hostess didn't come in that night, and then forgetting one of the sides for our order. They ended up bringing it out later and comping it after a reminder, though. So, overall, I think it's a solid spot for an evening out in the area with some great beer and food! read more

I know it's a popular establishment, but i find it has too many drawbacks for me. First, if you're needing gluten free, do not try to eat here. The GF choices are a salad and broccoli, and that was my dinner. The salad was nice, but the dressing was nothing more than Basalmic vinegar and definitely not a vinaigrette. Instead of broccoli, the waitress brought me fried brussel sprouts which she had told me were not gluten free. Then she said, oh that's right, I'll bring you the broccoli. About 10 minutes later, broccoli arrived. The broccoli was nicely cooked, not mushy, but completely bland with absolutely nothing on it. Beyond the food, this is a noisy place and impossible to sit and talk. I found nothing pleasurable about this place. read more

Chase was our server today and he made it his mission to ensure that we were satisfied throughout our meal. Congenial guy - and I suspect Bumpa's hires accordingly. From the host to the server to the busser, we felt as though there was genuine care and concern for us. 2. Food. Straight-up, this menu features unexpected options - not just from a Sports Bar - but from ANY restaurant. I went with the Bologna Sandwich (the signature sandwich, I would suspect) and Dad went with Tea's Fish & Chips sandwich. The Bologna Sandwich is great - and rich as hell. Seriously - it is not for the faint. My father's "Tea's Fish & Chips Sandwich" was a genuine surprise. a single piece of perfectly battered and fried cod, bunned up and fully hand-held. I've seen less fish in a traditionally newspapered order of Fish & Chips. The fish was moist - tender - downright delicious (and I'm not one to drone on and on about Fish & Chips...). 3. Ambiance. Impeccable, spacious, well-lit, fully-screened (as a Sports Bar ought to be). No expense was spared in converting the beloved CJ's that previously occupied this spot into a fully overhauled Bumpa's - the first of what I predict will be a growing number in the South-East. Bumpa's is a MUST for those who are seeking a place to: 1. watch the big game, 2. want to take the path-less-traveled in terms of menu options, and 3. enjoy a clean family-friendly atmosphere. read more
