This is a great nail place for a relaxing pedicure and any nail treatment you can think of. They can get very busy on the weekends because they do such a good job so make an appointment. I LOVE T Nail! They're normally a 5-star salon, but yesterday's experience has me a little bothered. Between putting cuticle oil on my arm and scraping my polish off with her own bare, unsanitary, pink/inflamed-skin fingernails (while cutting and scratching my skin with them), this odd experience has me feeling very uncomfortable. Normally, I get the most amazing gel manicure. The ladies pay attention to my nails when they're filing off the surface of the gel. They gently wrap my nails in acetone cotton and foil to soak off the gel. They use great, sanitized tools to scrape off the polish and remove my cuticle. They always shape my nails perfectly, leaving me with a beautiful square oval nail. The polish is applied perfectly and only on the nail, and they take care to remove excess polish with an acetone brush. Finally, they finish my very, very neat and perfect gel manicures with a nice lotion massage. Yesterday was a very strange occurrence that I hope NEVER happens again. I sat down, my manicurist, who was wearing a white shirt with black polka dots, started filing the gel surface off of my nail. I started to feel my nail burn and the skin around my finger was getting scratched. I look up and the manicurist is not even looking at my hand. She's literally staring off into the front of the salon. She is now filing into my fingernail; there hasn't been polish to lightly file off for at least 10 quick passes of the file. The heat from the filing hurts so much that I pull my hand away and yelp. She doesn't apologize; she just keeps staring into the front of the store and absentmindedly reaches for my hand and moves to the next nail. She keeps doing this. At a few points, her quick filing slows down and stops with a few abrupt passes before slowing and stopping again. I look at her, and she's very, very lost in thought. She's not present at all. As I'm looking at her, she's still staring at the front of the store, and she files slowly again before stopping. I look back and there's nothing there; she's just really off somewhere else. She wraps my nails in foil and then starts squirting lotion on my arms. This has never happened before. Usually, this happens when the manicure is over. That part wasn't really that weird...until she squirted cuticle oil on my right arm and then left it there. Didn't rub it in, didn't wipe it off; she just left a 1x5 inch squirt of oil on my arm. ***This is the worst part.*** Not only did she leave the cuticle oil on my arm, but she also began scraping off my gel polish WITH HER FINGERNAIL. Not only that, but she's rough about it, forceful about it, AND that rough forcefulness digs into my SKIN when she slips off of my nail multiple times on multiple nails. HER UNWASHED, UNSANITIZED FINGERNAIL, which I discover HAS PINK/RED-SKIN AROUND THE NAIL AND COULD HAVE BEEN BLOODY, is REMOVING MY GEL POLISH AND SCRATCHING INTO MY SKIN. She didn't use the sanitized scraper tool AT ALL. All she used was her fingernail. I was so nervous after that. I washed my hands at the sink 3 times (I also washed the cuticle oil off of my arm) and hoped that the alcohol that she sprayed on later helped combat any transfers. On top of that, the nails were crooked, the shape is not cute at all, and there is gel polish over my cuticles and on my skin. I'm about to re-file them right now and clean up the edges. That part is fine; I can work with that. I can't work with a lady's unsanitary nails cutting my skin. At the end, she put lotion on my left arm, finished it with that oil again, and then on my right arm, she forgot the lotion and just put more oil on it. What has just happened? T Nail, I love you so much; PLEASE TEACH HER HOW TO BE SANITARY! read more

Yay! I am indeed a fan. Despite curb appearances, don't be fooled by the exterior as it doesn't echo the clean and lovely space inside this local nail salon. Welcoming walk-ins just as warmly as they did scheduled guests, I felt right at home as I perused the new colors for my toes. They offer a various line up of pedicure services at relatively reasonable prices. Always up for a solid foot massage, I landed on the $40 one that includes a scrub, massage, and hot stone and didn't leave disappointed. Especially, because they aren't stingy with the time they take to really pamper you. The staff and clientele had to be my favorite part, though. The staff - super sweet, and the clientele....well, it was hysterical. The lady to my left wouldn't stop chatting about her friend and her recent hospital visit, like I had known her my whole life, while the other young lady on my right brought in her own beers. I come to T nails every other week to get their basic manicure for $12. The girls do an excellent job and actually listen to what I want. The $12 manicure is a great deal equipped with a hand massage and hot towels. I also get my eyebrows trimmed/waxed here and always do an excellent job and actually take their time. The fantastic customer service and prices keep me coming back. However, this isn't a fancy nail salon where they charge you extra so they can pay for their pricy renovations. So if you're wanting a fancy salon with flat screen TVs and chandeliers then go across the street to the Luxe Spa where they will charge you more. If you want your nails to look great at a reasonable price then off to T nails you go! read more

Aww, hell no, y'all. If you want cheap mani-pedis, go to Superstar. They were closed one day a few weeks ago, so I wandered into this place. Their prices were the same, so I figured I would give them a try. I might as well have paid a 12 year old to paint my nails. OK, the folks were nice, and they could color in between the lines, but I'm not even sure they did ANYTHING besides soak my feet and paint my nails. I went home and had to slough the dry stuff off my feet myself. Sorry for that visual. Now you've got a picture of me wielding a metal file shaving giant hunks of dead flesh off of feet that should belong to an 89 year old orangutan. My feet aren't THAT gross, y'all. Ahem. Linda does an amazing job on my acrylic nails and Christine is super sweet and does wonderful SNS nails. This was my 4th time here! Look no further. This is such a chill, friendly, professional, and talented nail salon. I went today based on the awesome reviews and I'm quite pleased to contribute my own. Got an appointment very easily for a shellac manicure & she did a fantastic job. The woman who did mine was extremely attentive with my cuticles & for the color I got, she knew to do an extra layer to make up for the be-speckled look (lots of awesome color choices too) . The place isn't fancy but for $25 in north Austin I was satisfied. Only wish they did a true hand massage. She barely rubbed in the lotion all of the way. Otherwise, I'll definitely be back. P.S. I seem to be coming quite the girly girl as I have started getting monthly pedicure over the past year. I had never had one before that. I usually get the deluxe at the other places I've been, but here it includes hot stone massage and a deep scrub and wax treatment for $35. I hadn't had that before and it was amazing! My tired feet are so relaxed and as smooth as a baby's bottom! They were open today, on New Year's Day, which was great and much appreciated. I live south off Slaughter and make the drive over here to see Kathy every other week. She is absolutely amazing. She doesn't rush, she pays attention to detail, and super sweet. She knows I come to relax and she always takes good care of me. I usually have to mark off an hour to be here because she'll rub my legs and feet for so long! It's nice to not be rushed and have them acknowledge the meaning of pamper. They use warm wax on your feet at the end of the pedicure which I thought was a nice extra service they provide that not many others do. Leg rubs longer than 5 minutes is a plus in my book! I've been a client of this establishment for nearly 5 years. The last few times I have been in for the usual treatment, it has been a terrible experience - either cutting corners on their service, lacking in customer services, or simply not meeting a client's request. Today, they sat me in the pedicure chair within 5 minutes of being there and the proceeded to have me wait 45 minutes to only see 3 other clients who came in after I did be provided service, continually asking me to wait. I left, there is no customer loyalty in this space anymore. What a shame! I've recommend so many of my friends go there and recently they've all had similar experiences. The service is lacking and the business is suddenly slipping in cleanliness. Today, I left and will not be returning. I found another spa close by and had phenomenal experience for the same price. Best pedi I've ever had, and I've had many! They have a whole big list of a range of pedis they offer, and I got the Deluxe at $35. A splurge, but well worth it! I'm always self-conscious about my awful foot calluses but the woman who worked on my feet was VERY professional about them, not showing any signs of being grossed out and filing them off thoroughly. That meant a lot. The massage part was incredible too, as was the exfoliating scrub, foot waxing and rich cream finish that was scented with lemon! And the polish itself was awesome! It's hit or miss with this place. I went for a Spa Pedicure, and the nail technician tried to convince me to get the Deluxe, claiming that the Spa Pedicure does not offer a polish change. We read their price list with descriptions and it blatantly stated that the Spa Pedicure comes with a polish change. So I declined and she proceeded to angrily cut my nails crooked after I didn't take the upcharged pedicure. When I asked if she could fix them, she filed them down and made them worse. Then I tried to fix them myself and she yelled, and then threw my wallet into my hand when we were finished. I'm giving them three stars because my sister also came with me for a pedicure and her technician was incredibly sweet and did a fantastic job. In short, I would go with caution to this salon. I am very unhappy with my experience here. My toenails are crooked, even though I asked before I got them done to please straighten them out, and even asked towards the end. The massage on my legs was painful because of the woman's nails that was doing it. Also I got sns dip on my finger nails and they just look unfinished and one has cracked in the middle and it's only been 4 days. I used to love getting my nails done here until I had a really crappy experience. I came on a Saturday to get my bi-monthly mani pedi and everything was going fine at first. Then a couple came in an sat next to me. While I was getting my manicure in the chair, the older lady (I assumed she was the owner) began filing and clipping the gentleman's nails ON MY ARM REST. His nails were literally flying on to me. I asked to be moved to another chair to finish my services and they refused even though there was no one in the other seats. They instead had me contort my body to have my gel applied on the other arm rest. They allowed the man (who happened to be white) who came AFTER me to be perfectly comfortable and utilized both of his arm rests. On top of it, I asked for a design with glitter on my nails. The lady didn't seem to know how to do designs so I told her to just put the glitter on top. She instead put the glitter on half of my nails in an attempt to make a half ass ombre despite the fact that I told her not to. Then, when I corrected her, she sloppily placed the glitter coat all over. She didn't even attempt to make it look uniform. I've spent a lot of money in this place and have always tipped well. However, I guess their appreciation for my loyalty was nothing compared to their appreciation of his whiteness. I will NEVER come back. I don't pay money to be treated as a second class citizen. read more

NEVER AGAIN. I moved to the neighborhood about 2 years ago and have gone to T Nail about 7 or 8 times since then, since it's within walking distance of my apartment building. The first few times I visited were perfectly fine, but my last 3 or 4 visits have gotten worse and worse. This Sunday, things finally descended too far; I'm never going back. Every time I've been, I've gotten the $30 pedicure, which includes a paraffin wax, foot scrub, and foot/lower leg massage. And each time, the service has taken at least an hour for all procedures. This Sunday, though, several things went wrong. First, my attendant (I don't know her name, but she was wearing an orange dress if her boss is reading this), JABBED me under my big toenail with some sharp instrument; I literally yelled "OW!" and jumped in my seat. (As I write this on Monday, that toe still hurts.) This lady was also inattentive the entire time: staring off into space (i.e., not looking at what she was doing with her sharp instruments), chatting across the room, etc. The service was also very sketchy. For instance, she scrubbed the callouses on my right foot for about 30 seconds, then gave minutes of attention to the left foot---which wasn't any more calloused than the right. As for the wax: They put the hot wax in 2 plastic bags and place your feet in them, the idea being to get the wax over all parts of your feet to take off dead skin; in this woman's case, though, she shoved my feet in the bags, with the wax only touching my heels. She didn't bother working the wax over the rest of my feet. As for the foot/leg massage: Not only was this the most UNrelaxing massage of my life, the woman actually HURT! I'm not that sensitive, but her harsh pokes and prods made me wince in pain several times--not that she even noticed I was wincing! To top it off, about 15 minutes into the service, the lady gets a call and she tells them to come in in 1/2 an hour. Knowing that the service usually takes over an hour, I assumed that she'd just have them wait a few minutes. Nope. She had me out of the chair and under the nail dryer before they came in. I commented (non-loudly) on it, just so she'd know that I felt rushed: "That was quick! Usually the service takes over an hour." After which she began to lecture me on how she was quicker, but better, than other attendants might have had. (When I got home, I saw that there was polish on the skin at the sides of several of my toenails --- she was actually SLOPPIER than others.) A very unpleasant experience. After the literally painful "massage" she'd given me, I'd pretty much made up my mind not to subject myself to this place again. Her arguing with me made the decision 100% certain. read more
