CMTC Wireless - Me in my car waiting for the police, who never came.

I was hesitant but thought since it was in the ghetto, people probably take off without paying so I went ahead and paid with cash. After an hour of watching him struggle with my phone, he hands me my phone and I leave. I get in my car and nothing worked. I go back in and the tech acted surprised to see me. By this point, I was upset so I just told him to get it fixed and I went back to wait in my car. About 20 minutes later he came out to my car. I had my window down from smoking a cigarette and he hands me my phone and said, "it's fixed." I tell him to wait while I examine my phone and of course, nothing worked. I hand him the phone again and he went back inside. 30 minutes later he comes out and tells me he needs more time to fix my phone and asked me to return tomorrow afternoon. I said no, just give me my phone and I'll take it somewhere else. He pleaded with me and said his manager was on his way over to help him fix my phone and promised me that the phone would be fixed by 7:30 PM the latest. BIG MISTAKE! I arrived back at the shop at 7:25. As I entered the store i can see that the manager has another phone screen attached to my red iPhone. He tells me that the home button is broken and they are attempting to somehow install the digital home screen button on my phone. Confused and at a lost for words, I asked why are you doing that? Just fix it. The manager, a Nigerian dude proceeded to tell me he cannot fix the broken home button that I broke and I stopped him and told him, No. My phone was working just fine when I brought it in. I told him to put my phone back together and return my money. He got aggressive and said I was not getting a refund after all the time they spent on my phone. I laughted and told him he was crazy because I brought in a working phone and i am not leaving with a broken phone. He then got out from behind the service stand and tried to fight me. I didn't have any way to call for help so I went outside and stopped a lady walking by to call the police for me and the manager ran up and locked the doors. With all the ICE protesting happening, the police never showed up so I drove to the police station and filed a theft report. See you in court.

I've been really pleased with CenturyLink. I have had their service for two months so far…read more I moved into a new apartment in Bloomington which had a CenturyLink modem pre-installed. This was a fiber-to-the-home connection, complete with a fiber optic cable I could actually look at in the closet. When I activated the service, which was really quick and easy, I got about 50 Megabits per second over the modem's built in wi-fi router. When I wired my laptop directly to the switch, however, I easily got the rated 500 Mbps I was paying for in an online speedtest. Don't use the built-in wifi router. I purchased high quality Unifi equipment, and I easily get 4x faster speeds than I did when I only had the built-in wifi access point.

I called to cancel my service when I finally had another option and it is nearly impossible to get a human on the phone. After hours of arguing with their chat bot I finally got a human who promised me they would stop further bills. A week later I got an email saying they were charging my account. I went through the drama of getting customer service again and they assured me I would not be billed. The next day I had $83.43 removed from my bank account for a service I no longer have access to as I long ago returned the modem. Now they are saying I can't cancel "mid billing cycle" and they won't refund the mon of service I don't even have access to. Bunch of liars.

8/23/2025 requested fiber optic internet upgrade…read more Interaction with online rep (I have full transcript): [REP]: I have great news for you! You qualify for 100mbps for $55.00 per month. This gets you the speed you need today for and for any devices you add in the future. Let's get the faster Internet ordered today. Ok? [ME]: Is that fiber optic? [REP]: Yes 100 Mbps is fiber optic. ---- [REP]: We make it easy to enjoy your Internet connection with our premium, all-in- one modem and router, specially selected for our network, that always includes in-home WiFi. You can lease this WiFi modem for only $15.00 per month or you can purchase for $200.00, which option do you prefer? [ME]: If the availability for a fiber optic speed upgrade comes, will this modem need to be replaced again? Or is this one capable of the 500 or 900 speeds? [REP]: It will be compatible for the any speed of optic fiber. ---- [ME]: Sounds good. Will I get an advance notice window before they arrive to install? [REP]: Okay, the tech will reach you 30 minutes prior to their coming or when they will be on the way. Paid $200 for modem due to promise of fiber optic speed and future fiber speed upgrades. Monthly payment increased $15/month for new fiber speed. Did not receive fiber internet. Not even available in my area and never will be by CenturyLink according to technician and confirmed by AT&T rep. Requested supervisor refund modem cost and/or revert to prior monthly rate. Was called a liar about speaking to a different rep who offered some attempts to waive costs before wanting to speak with supervisor to make them aware of initial misrepresentation. Despite full transcript of the company falsely selling me a product that they did not deliver and additional products based on that lie, the supervisor blamed me for not reading the fine print despite being directly told by employee something else entirely. Scam tactics, do not trust this scummy company.
