The cosmetics area was in total disarray, with most items out of stock, which was annoying. (But it will be fantastic once it's done.) They do have an amazing new men's personal care department with full lines of products such as Creamo, Every Man Jack, etc. that I'm excited for my husband to see. The woman's clothing department looked like a herd of angry cattle stampeded through the aisles. Every other department was clean and maintained for the most part, which made it stick out like a sore loser. And they only had one actual check out open with an actual person helping customers. I ended up having to use the self check out. There's a live screen monitoring your every move, it's literally right in your face. Not a fan of that. Makes you feel like you're a criminal or something. I purchased a big floppy hat, so I asked the attendant to please fetch me a pair of scissors so I could wear it out of the store and also to wear it as I finished checking out. Before you know it, they'll have finger print or retinol scanners to check out with. Big Brother is watching! I think I'll stick to ordering online.

I needed sparkly sneakers for a Sneakerball, and Dillard's had the perfect pair! AMBIANCE: This store is tucked away in Beachwood Mall. The lighting in the store and the fashions make it feel like Saks or Nordstrom, not Dillard's. Meaning it's a lot more ritzy. It has pockets of high end brands, and the entire store presents very well. INVENTORY: Dillard's recently really started keeping up with the times. Compared to its competition, it's really fashion-forward. Around the holidays, I noticed that there are a lot of very trendy dresses in relevant colors and gorgeous fabrics. They are also very well styled with faux furs hugging the shoulders or sparkly boleros. There are also exciting party shoes - sparkly, with bows, and all the shimmer! You can really envision and build the entire outfit. I was really impressed with this recent shift of modernization. I even asked myself - Am I really at Dillard's? SERVICE: The service was truly five star. I was in a hurry (story of my life) and needed to quickly located the shoe department. I asked an employee at another department who provided me with very detailed directions. She was super friendly. Staff was pleasant as I made my way through the department store, smiling and nodding. My interactions at the shoe department were similarly warm. The sales associate told me she'll be right with me, immediately found the shoes I wanted, and was extremely friendly. I observed her interactions with other customers and she was providing very personalized service. It was probably among the best customer service interactions at department stores. Seriously great service. She was also as excited as I was about my sparkly sneakers with holiday lights purchased from Betsey Johnson collection. I will say that these sneakers were pricier here than at other retailers. I paid over $100. So many people complimented me on these shoes that it feels like I got my money's worth. I would recommend a visit to this store. The setup makes it feel luxe, the service is extremely cordial, and you experience can be flawless from start to finish. Honestly, couldn't find any fault in my whole time here. I plan to return shortly to look for New Year Eve dress. I'll have to first figure out what to do for NYE. Do I need Dillard's faux furs and bow bedazzled shoes? Or something more subtle?

This time the sizes were more organized in women's and teens categories. I was able to more expeditiously browse the inventory. I found some amazing deals like a really good winter coat for $15.99! Can't wait to wear it! THE BAD: The front of the store always has solicitors (inside the store). For instance, usually utilities suppliers offer you services. The workers always check up on me and make sure I'm good. When I need a changing room, bam! There they are! So they asked me for the card I used to purchase my order. They tried looking it up that way which didn't work either. The woman at the register said this has been happening a lot. So she called a woman who may or may not have been a manager, I'm really not sure but I'm assuming she was an associate because she was not helpful or polite. But then again, she could have been a manager. Who knows. I didn't want to waste anymore time trying to figure it out. I just wanted to be out the store. She asked for my telephone number associated with my account. I was sure that would work because I've been buying clothes from old navy for the past 15 years. Still didn't work. I showed them my order confirmation on my phone. Still was not working. So she told me she would have to refund me for the pants and then put them on a gift card. She had to put them on three separate gift cards for whatever reason. Still does not make sense but whatever. This has already taken up 15 minutes of my time when I should have already been done. Once she finished she told me I owed 2.35. I asked why since all I was doing was exchanging for a different size. She said because of taxes. Oooookkkkk. When I made my purchase I already paid taxes. Then the manager or not manager(still wasn't clear on who she was) said it was what the system was telling her. And instead of acknowledging that it made absolutely no sense and she wasn't sure why this was happening she continued to insist that this was their policy. So basically I figured out I was paying taxes for the gift cards that I did not ask to use. That was their idea because their system wasn't taking the order number which was right in front of them. I have them my card I used to purchase. My telephone number. My online order number. And the order number they pinned to my bag for curbside pick up. I didn't even want to come Into the store but I figured it wouldn't take long since I knew I was just exchanging. By the time they told me I owed money for taxes the line behind me was long because this store is always understaffed so I just paid them and left. But I will not be visiting this store again. Because both of them knew it made absolutely no sense. I will only shop at old navy online because every time I go into a store and this particular store, it is a complete mess and never enough staff.
