This TJ Maxx location is a hit or miss! Sometimes they have what I'm looking for and sometimes they don't. The sections are organized throughout the store. However, the items are subpar in quality and value. Over the years, I've been able to find a solid coat during the winter, seasonal home decor (candles, throw pillows, etc.), and journals/planners for myself and gifts for friends. No complaints with the customer service if I need to return something, and the lines are never too long. If you're reading this before January 3, 2026, everything must go so stop in to see they have anything while everything is an additional 30% off. This is their last week at this location. read more

In general, I thought this Tj Maxx was a little smaller compared to other Tj Maxxes that I have visited over the years, but it has a decent selection of common items. In fact, I actually picked up a couple of things that were not on my list (e.g., a few scented candles). For my visit, I primarily wanted to pick up a few bedding and kitchen items. I had no problem finding the things that I needed (e.g., mainly pillows, regular towels and dish towels). Like other Tj Maxx location, I thought the prices were fine, especially for the area. This has been my most favorite TJ Maxx I have been to in this area. Every time I enter this location I always end up walking out of here with an item I have either needed or wanted. I have found so many things in here that make my apartment feel complete. Out of all the locations this is by far the cleanest and most well organized one so far I have come across. Everything has it's place and they are plenty stocked on what they do have on the shelves. With it being so well organized it made browsing so much easier and I contribute that to the reason I have purchased so many items here. I mean I walked out with an automatic water bowl for my cat. I didn't need it, and she doesn't use it, but it was presented so well that I bought it. Customer service here is great. I have been treated with respect by the employees. The only thing that they could improve on is the amount of registers they have open at any given time. read more

This T.J. Maxx is smaller than others in the area but still has an adequate number of items in each department. My friend and I had some time before a movie so we browsed the items here, which ranged from a lot of XXL size clothing to picked-through home decor and accessories/accents to random novelty gift items. Because a lot of the items they carry are unique and in a quantity of one, maybe two, the store has the feel of a thrift store, with shelves not logically arranged with like items, frames and glassware in disarray and poorly organized, and a messy feel overall. There was a Christmas clearance area toward the back of the store that caught my attention, particularly a lighted LED branch accent that was clearanced down but still overpriced for what it was. My new favorite TJM. It's clean, organized. The entire store looked like they restocked on everything, with the exception of bath decor. I think they have poor selection overall at all TJ Maxxs. The color selections that they have for bathrooms are dull and lackluster. I see this at other locations too. Many they need new vendors. Theres no bright earthy colors. Who wants gray bathmats? Its spring last time I checked. Wheres the greens, oranges or yellow merchandise? The towels are of cheap quality. Other than that, I have no gripes. Other locations need to take notice. I love TJM, for my home decor needs. I was able to get everything here. They have an extensive selection on pantry items. I found Teavana Peach Tranquility for $3.99 and other herbal teas that you would pay a lot more at other chain grocery stores. The times that I went, it was late in the evening, not many associates in the store, however each encounter with an associate, it was good. They were friendly. Checking out was no problem. They seem to get you out fast, after they hound you if you want a TJ Maxx card. read more

TJ Maxx opened today with a special ribbon cutting ceremony at 7:30 am. I wasn't there that early, which is too bad, since I missed out on the gift card hint throughout the store. There were many bigwig company employees there, and everyone was really friendly. Where were the giveaways that were promoted? I think they had reusable bags, but I wasn't offered one with my purchases. However, they did make a sizable donation to Shepherd's Table. This store has the same stuff as the TJ Maxx in Hyattsville minus the free parking on the weekdays. I got stuff for me and my pooch. I hope folks can get pass this being part of City Place Mall. If you enter by Ben and Jerry's, you can take the escalator downstairs and walk straight to this store. I'll be back for Christmas gift, but most likely only on the weekends, when parking is free. read more

The reason I go to t.j max is that they sell good stuff for the fraction of the price. I like coming here and I spend some good amount of money here from time to time. This store has lot of orignal stuff and many brand and different things for a fraction of the orignal price. One thing I dont like about this place is that whenever I shop the security guard or lost prevention team guys are always following me around the store from a distance and somehow i feel unsafe and very uncomfortable. Also the fitting room lady, I think she is Ethiopians she is rude. Today when I wanted to try some pants she checked the tags and price before I went in and after I finished but she DID NOT do so to my friend I think because he was....I will let you guess why. My son purchased perfume at this store. When his girlfriend opened the perfume in front of all of us -- the bottle was damaged and empty. We promptly tried to return the item and we were told that this could not be true. T.J. Maxx lost our family and more as customers due to this lack of honor and good customer service. I am going to make sure and tell everyone I can about this problem. read more

This store works for hubby and I. He looks for kitchen items and I look at handbags. There were more handbags than kitchen items. This isn't my favorite mall. There are always questionable characters around. But there is seating throughout the mall and I think merchants are making an effort to breathe life into this place. We like nearby restaurants and T.J. Maxx is a way to pass the time. There is limited staff in the store, especially the jewelry counter. read more

Came into the store this past Saturday and when I first walked in, there was a storage bench next to the front door that I liked but had no price. When I inquired about it, the manager on duty told the associate to recreate a price tag for it but I told her I was gonna think about it and possibly return, now that I knew the cost. About 30 minutes later I did return to purchase and got another associate, who was pretty young, maybe 18-20 and kind of rude. I told her I wanted the bench, told her I knew it had no price (sticker still hadn't been created), gave her the information from the prior associate who helped me, and asked to keep the bench at the store until I was done shopping at the mall. Once I was finally rung out, I was confused as to how anyone was going to know who I was when I came back to pick it up, because the associate wanted to just hand me my receipt and let me be on my way, she didn't write my name down or anything. Finally, I convinced her to print a gift receipt and attach it to the bench so I could prove my purchase upon return with my original copy. When I asked her how to get the bench to my car, which was parked a few blocks away, she basically told me she didn't know. I asked if they had a loading bay I could drive up to, but she said I could maybe take the elevator that was in the mall to my car. When I asked where I should park, she said maybe the garage. When I asked what level she said she didn't know and maybe level 3 or 4. She didn't know, didn't care to find out and I ended up leaving, feeling like she was pretty unhelpful. About an hour and a half after my purchase, I went to try to move my car to the associated garage, but it was full (and security refused to let me in to park to get the bench). After mindlessly driving around the whole complex for 20 minutes trying to figure out how I was supposed to get to the store in another way, I gave up. I ended up parking 2 blocks away and went back to the store to return the bench. The store in downtown Silver Spring doesn't leave a lot of options for leaving with large purchases and I was throughly disappointed. In fact, to even enter the store you need to either take 2 escalators, or go through the mall. When I went back inside, the associate I talked to originally helped me to process my return & the manager was called over to approve it. Neither person offered a different solution, or even an apology for not being able to help get it to my car, giving me a suggestion of where else to park to get it there or anything. I get that my purchase was pretty nominal to them ($200) but it's still pretty frustrating to me. I'm left days later still wishing this could have been worked out somehow (how does the store even accept deliveries?). No other TJ Maxx, Home Goods or Home Sense I've been to as been this unhelpful with assisting people to get large items to their vehicle, so I wanted to pass this along. read more

I thought that their neighbor had a better selection of menswear but TJ Maxx has the bigger shoe department. So there's that. I did not see anything here that caught my eye in my size. Lots of elastic in the larger sizes and not much that I was interested in purchasing. read more

Today 12/22/20 I went to the silver spring location around 3:50 pm and I felt so discriminated by the guy that was giving the shopping carts. He said something really offensive about Hispanic people; he thought I didn't understand but he was wrong because I do speak and understand English. I hope the manager does something about it so people don't ever feel like I did. read more

How nice to have TJ Maxx as part of the revitalization of City Place Mall, which has been renamed Ellsworth Place. This is a small store in comparison to other TJ Maxx stores I've visited, but the only department that suffers is the furniture, which really isn't the focus of this style of store. TJ Maxx is an all-in-one discount department store. Everything from infant clothing to housewares, with name brands an easy find sprinkled throughout the store. Though the inventory changes every day there are a few constants. I love the selection of plus sized business casual clothing, which is a sometimes difficult thing to find. I also love that I can walk in looking for something specific and find what I need, or I can go in with no plan whatsoever and find what I didn't know that I'd needed. It's just that kind of store. Because this location is so new, and because they opened just in time for the holiday rush, I find myself unable to judge the service. There were associates everywhere I needed them to be, but they were mostly busy keeping chaos at bay, and were unable to do more than just smile reassuringly. Not a bad experience, just a holiday shopping experience. I look forward to many more visits. read more

The manager at this store is rude and unprofessional. He blamed me, the customer, for an error with a receipt from another TJ maxx store and threaten to give me store credit for their error. That's all nonsense and I won't be returning there since they treat their customers like trash. read more

Terrible company both in stores AND online, is worse. In store sales persons have no idea what they are doing -Silver Spring, MD store- and ordering online is worse. Placed an order April 10, but my order has still not been processed April 16? Wish I had read all the Consumer Affairs bad reviews prior to ordering. Never again! I really like this T.J. Maxx. It's relatively new. It's cleaner than other T. J. Maxx stores, so it's easier to shop in. Every time I have gone, the lines have been short because they keep at least 4-5 registers open. Employees are nice, with the exception of one cashier who is ghetto as she wants to be. read more

Don't bother! I can usually find some good stuff in these stores but this location is a waste of space. Beyond limited! Kids items, adult items, it doesn't matter. I've gone in multiple times for simple items like pants or a top and have come out empty handed every time. They need to get a larger selection of quality items. read more

I love TJ Maxx and I'm super happy about the revitalization of City Place ("Ellsworth Place"), only 15+ years overdue. So I'm thrilled that TJ Maxx is here! This location is not as large as some other locations, but the aisles do feel a bit more spacious than the Rockville Pike store so that's nice. Their clearance section is almost non-existent (I suppose because they haven't had time to amass clearance items yet?) and some other sections seem oddly light (where are all the pretty dresses?) but for the most part everything's there at the great prices you'd expect. Another nice thing about a new TJ Maxx is that it is CLEAN. We will see how long that lasts, but I'm enjoying it for now! If you aren't lucky enough to live a short walk away from this new location (yay!) you can park in the Ellsworth Drive parking garage, and either take the walking bridge or just walk across the street into the mall. Parking is free on weekends, but it is pretty cheap even on weekdays. read more

I never thought in my life I would ever leave a review for a TJ Maxx, but in this case it seems warranted. I buy tons of odds and ends from here as I just relocated here from New York City. I purchase a simple $6 tea cup with plate for food photography and once taken out of the package it appeared broken and glued together. While not heinous I took it back as it will break again for sure. The cup also had sharp breaks on the bottom and it put a gash in my hand. I returned to the store to return it for a non broken one and received the energy as though I had the audacity to buy a cheap cup, break it, and return it lol. I nearly died. Poor customer service, even complained to the company as I returned to buy kitchen items and got home to realize they were used. Disgusting. They sent me a $4 gift card for my troubles. If a customer goes out of their way to explain a poor experience, and you provide a $4 gift card. Gross. Don't go here to buy used broken items and be accused of breaking them and gluing them together lol. What a joke. read more

I wish I could give ZERO stars! I highly doubt I will ever come back. The staff completely ruined my experience. I completely regret my purchase and will probably return it. Trust I will make sure my family NEVER shops at this location. The cashier was very incompetent and Patrice was rude. One of the items (i.e. set of makeup brushes) I was considering (priced at 16.99) had a missing piece. Patrice took off 99 cents. Why tf would I pay, basically full price, for an incomplete set. Then, I was going to purchase a two-piece makeup palette set. Patrice swore up and down that the set did not go together even though I showed her that they were connected by your companies equipment. I find it very ironic that Patrice could individually price the items but not take off more than 99 cents (which is what she said). Lastly, when I asked to speak with her she acted as though it was a problem and I could hear her say "well what does she want." If my patronage is not appreciated, I definitely won't be. read more

The Marshalls in City Place customer service is as poor as service can get. This morning I stopped in. Not a single person in line ahead of me. Four women behind the registers, yet not even a movement to help me. One actually told me that she was spraying the counters as the others pretended not to notice. They are right. I have no business spending my money there. I left my planned purchases on the counter. They apparently really like putting merchandise back on the racks. read more
