I wanted to return a woman's sweater which I purchased online about three months ago. I did not have a receipt for the purchase, just the date of the purchase and my credit card information. Valencia in the woman's department had one of her managers help me - they both went out of their way to locate the purchase information and complete the return. Both Valencia and her manager were polite and professional and wanted to make sure that I was able to return the sweater. Valencia then assisted in our purchase of a replacement sweater. Hadn't been here in years and won't be coming back. I recently had to do an online return. I went to the closest register I saw. Stood in line with the return and get up to the register and the employee told me she could do the return but she's new and don't trust herself and sent me to the customer service area. There was a small line there but it moved quickly. The guy who processed the return was not friendly at all. I had the barcode on my phone to scan and he told me it was too dark. I asked if he wanted me to brighten the screen and he said it didn't matter. I read the order number out loud to him and he kept saying he couldn't understand me and pointed to my mask. No I was not taking my mask off. All that to say, not a great experience and I won't be coming back to this location for anything! Ever! read more

I don't know why I torture myself by coming into a Macy's anymore. It just doesn't hold the weight that it used to for me when I go out shopping. Especially since I know I can find a lot of items elsewhere for less than their sale prices. What I can remember was coming in here for the clearance and their attempt to save Toys R Us. Because, hey, you can't go anywhere else now to just be a kid. I admit the toy section is rather small and doesn't really offer a lot. But they do have the throwback toys for my generation now coming back out. With that itch scratched, I move onto their 'backstage' area. If I remember correctly, they had a massive section dedicated to the clearance here. It kind of sprawled out everywhere. If you want to browse this section, you will need a little time. Tip for this section, get your phone out, use the Macy's app, and scan the items yourself. That way, if there is an updated price you won't need to find a price checker or be surprised at the register. But also be wary of the items in this section. I swear either customers are dropping non clearance items here, or the employees are throwing in items that they only have one or a few left of. Some of the items in this section are not on clearance. I mean, I almost bought a high tech toaster because I though it was on clearance, but with the app I found out otherwise. No way am I paying over $100 for a toaster. I did lose track of time in here because I went through the backstage area with a fine toothed comb. Went to buy my sister a gift at the fragrance department. The service was good but as I went to pay the lady told me to apply for a macys gift card and she would give me a 20% discount. I applied and no discount. I asked her and she told me next time I would get the discount. & my application had already been sent. Just be careful they seem very deceptive there. read more

Alexa went out of her way to help me find what I need, and I'm very grateful. I don't shop at Macy's, but someone gave me a big gift card to the store for my birthday and I was trying to figure out how to spend it. I went online and discovered that they sell a face wash that I really like, so I decided to use my gift card on that. I'd previously been to another Macy's location and the sales associate told me that they did not sell that brand. I went back online and found that they sold it at this particular location. I went up to one of the beauty counters and asked Alexa where I could find the product. She said that she wasn't sure if the store carried it, but would look it up in their system. The system showed that there were seven bottles in stock, so she left her counter to go in the back and try to find them. A few minutes later she returned with exactly what I was looking for. She told me that she usually works behind this one counter so she's not too familiar with what other inventory the store has, but I appreciated her taking an extra few minutes out of her day to ensure that this was not a wasted trip for me. read more

Where do I start...? This is the worst Macy's ever! They conveniently have a register in every department, but everyone behind the counter is on the phone and claims the register does not work. So they send you to another department and when you get there they are so willing to walk away from their register while 4 or 5 other people are standing waiting in line. Why not call another person to ring? Because they dont care! So here we are waiting to pay while the cashier casually walks around with a customer and other employees continue folding shirts or just walk around without a care in the world! I specifically came for a pair of cargo pants & my visit turned into a hour as all the red sales stars were popping up everywhere....it seems across all the departments as well. Now if it was not for Paula, her outstanding customer service & assistance, I would have gave a 1 star due to my previous interaction with another employee Emily. Her attitude was rude as all get out & in need of an ol fashion checking. However Yelp & Light sustained me & in return I ended up getting some additional treasures at the register. It's Memorial Day weekend, why are multiple registers closed on the second floor? If I didn't need this shapewear for an event today, I would go put it back and leave! I'm not coming back here on any weekend ever again. I never fail to have a crappy experience any time I'm here. There's always THE RUDEST woman at the Lancome counter, and she honestly looks so gross so I pretty much lose all my desire to buy any cosmetics from her. You don't have to be a Barbie (that might be equally scary), but looking presentable and not spitting out stacatto sentences shouldn't be too much to ask. I thought she didn't work there anymore and was elated for about 4 months until I saw her again today, barking out "Hello" near the fragrances. Once at the Estee Lauder counter, a lady was incredibly stubborn and had no level of command of the English language - I told her I didn't want an item looked up since I had no time but she disappeared into some door where the shoe department is and didn't come back for 20 minutes. I went to go talk to a younger salesperson since I thought maybe she'd be more fluent. Nope. I asked her where I can file a complaint or a word and she said, "You want [a job] application?" I rolled my eyes so hard. I couldn't help it. I left in a huff. Then the other day I came to return a sweater I had gotten and a guy at one of the mens' registers said I could go return it at any one of the counters. Great! I got there and a male customer was talking while the saleswoman who was folding stuff. She looked like she was having the time of her life, listening to this man make small talk with her. Anyway, I hand her my sweater and she looks it over and then says, "Oh, this is womens? It has to go upstairs." I had to refrain SO HARD to call her out right then and there and literally cause a scene. Sorry I am a female and have no desire to make small talk with you which you clearly interpret as flirting. And her little "rule" was totally disproven today when I went to the Lancome counter to cancel an appointment and there was this couple who were exchanging and buying CLOTHES! At the cosmetic counter! Of course it took FOREVER since they don't even have the proper equipment to remove the security devices. And it turns out she wasn't even a Lancome sales associate, she was from Clinique but was filling in Lancome chick's lunch. Really? You can't hire more than just ONE person for each counter? They also have a very poor selection of sizes. I usually can't buy anything here as they don't have more than about 2 of the smaller sizes (ie. Small, XS), and the same goes for my mom. She loves Calvin Klein jeans but when the smallest size is a 6, she can't spend her money even if she wants to! The only times I've had decent experiences are with the shoe department. They're always helpful and even willing to lower some prices. I honestly don't know why I keep coming to this mall - though I admit the Target and Panera sure draw me - probably because it's, sadly, the closest one around. read more

The parking garage next to this store and the lot surrounding it is pure treachery to navigate by car and by foot. Everyone's too busy lurking around stalking people to their cars and trying to secure a parking spot to be bothered with paying attention to pedestrians in the crosswalk or other cars trying to get by. Once you get inside the store it's like pure chaos. I know, weekends are the worse time to go to any mall or store. But while the Tyson's Corner Macys seem to have some sort of art to navigating and providing some level of customer service amongst the mayhem, this Macys seems to accept it and wallow in its disarray like Pig Pen from Charlie Brown. Racks were maimed with hangers jutting out every which a way, merch on the floor, clothes scewed about and employees with a "DON'T MESS WITH ME" mean mug plastered across their face. The fitting rooms were a HOT MESS. I had to step over a woman sitting on the ground talking on her cell phone that was plugged into the wall. I thought it was just some random teenager or college kid getting a bit of juice on their phone so they can instagram their latest (maybe) party outfit but it turns out she was an employee. The sales rack were a complete and total miss :-/ I probably won't patronize this Macys again. read more

Honestly I used to like visiting this Macy's but after 3 visits with poor service and a lack of people to help closer towards closing and a slow set of cashiers, this is honestly ridiculous. This Macy's stinks. It just stinks. The people, including the management team, just stinks. First of all, they're understaffed and the lines are ridiculously long. I was going through my closet and I found a jumpsuit I bought a while back. I don't know what I was thinking buying it in the first place. Macy's allows online purchases to be returned in-store so I took it back to return at the Wheaton Macy's. After waiting for a good 15-20 minutes in one line, I gave up and went to the Bed & Bath dept. - I wanted to pick up a new shower curtain. I swear every last packet was opened! Ugh, what inconvenience. Anyway, back to my jumpsuit. I ordered it online and usually the order/shipment confirmation is sufficient for a return. But for some reason my order number wouldn't show up. I had my order and shipment confirmation that was sent via email, the same card I used for the purchase, and original tags were still in tact. The manager came and said she wouldn't even issue store credit. How awful?! In summation, it was a good waste of my time making the trip to this store. I am from Ohio and I am used to very good customer service, in Wheaton it's worst experience in Clinique with an Indian sales girl on Sunday June 30, I purchase $ 170 products but she forced me to buy unnecessary product,and she did not offer me any sample or any bonus,but if all that I shop online they give you good deal and bonus. This macy's is pretty straight forward. I love Macy's in general so my review might be a little biased. The last act is the greatest thing since slice bread. Although vultures immediately scoop up the meaningful sizes that you can actually fit, there some deals to be had, like buying an $100 piece of clothing at $25. I usually never go at peak times, so haven't experienced a super long wait. The only thing I can't stand about this and most other macy's locations that I've been to is when the store is closed, they will literally lock the doors that lead to the parking lot and only keep one open. I guess for security reasons, but would it really be that difficult to have a representative "man" the doors to let people out? One particular instance I parked on the, "let's say" east side of the building and that exit got locked. I got let out the South side of the building but there is brick wall preventing you from getting directly to the East. So I had to walk around the entire macys in the rain to get back to my car. My reaction to the Westfield Wheaton Macy's in the past has been fairly neutral--neither exceptionally good nor exceptionally bad experiences. But in the last 18 months or more almost every interaction with store personnel has been outstanding. From the shoe department to the ladies department to the jewelry department to accessories--"what can I do for you the customer?" Okay, the guy in home store was sort of lame, but I think he was distracted by the much younger, pretty young lady--and still that's a pretty good average for customer service overall. I really thought the selection in the ladies department was great this year--my style--tunic sweaters with just a little bit of sparkle, amazing sale prices, stylish outerwear. Every time I've been in the dressing rooms they're neat and the rest rooms are clean. The layout of the store is a little confusing--maybe to keep customers rotating through the merchandise? To me it's like they sent all the sales reps to the Disney school of Public Relations. read more

Nasty reputation with a Macy's employee. On the day before Thanksgiving, we had a macy's worker who was verbally abusive over the phone. The head cashier from the Sunoco told him to hang up and that's when the punches started flying. It turned out that the worker was a wanted man. I actually like this Macy's. Their juniors section is great compared to the one at Pentagon City. I always find something gorgeous and on sale. Hardly any of their stuff is full price. Picked up a great dress for $15. Skirts go as low as $10. Staff isn't the greatest. But fitting rooms are open and there's no limit on how many items, which is good for me. read more

This store started out okay, but they seem to have cut their staff to the bone, and it is hard to find someone to help you, especially in the women's clothing sections. One of the cashiers could not seem to handle a simple refund and had to start over several times--perhaps the training is lacking at this store. On two recent visits, the shoe department was so messy--trash left all over and no one to clean it up. I will head for Montgomery Mall and hope their staff is better trained and that the shoe department looks nicer. read more
