This place still hasn't made "quality mall" status, but they have made some major improvements and are headed in the right direction. Back in 2011, I lived in downtown Silver Spring and I must say that this place was atrocious. Over the past few years, they have made a number of updates which really give the interior a contemporary and trendy feel. While they still haven't secured any major "A-List" mall stores like Macy's, an Apple Store, Victoria Secret, Bath & Body Works, Lush or Seohora, they krecently added Dave & Busters which is a huge plus, especially when your main "headliner" stores include the likes of Ross, Macy's & TJ Maxx. A major issue with this is that these 3 stores all carry a random mix of leftover and/or slightly imperfect clothes purchased from other stores. They rarely have sets of the same item for sell, so on the occasion that you find something cute, it's likely not in your size and it's the only one in the store (or it's mixed in amongst the endless sea of other random clothes, so you'll never find it!). The fact that they have THREE of these stores here that in all honestly could be consolidated into one store is a real turn off. Additionally, it seems that their selections are the WORST of all discount stores in the DMV. I've dropped by these three stores a few times, but always walk out empty handed. It's really a waste of PRECIOUS square footage that could be being used by an "A-List" store. The Dave & Busters is nice, but it's not enough to make this mall what it could be. They have added a Guitar center, but with it being a specialty store that caterers to a very small number of people, it probably won't bring in a high volume of traffic either. Now, the craft store Michaels is a wonderful addition to the DT Silver Spring scene, but again, it's still not enough to upgrade the status of this shopping center. On the flip side, the fact that there is an attached garage that is free to park in on nights and weekends is a huge plus. Also, EVERY SINGLE TIME, I use that elevator here, it's ALWAYS FULL TO CAPACITY sometimes where people have to wait for the elevator to come around again because there isn't enough space for them to squeeze on. They really should have at least 2 elevators. As much as I really want to like this place, they simply don't have the type of stores that would entice me to frequent it. Based on the stores ALONE, I'd give this place 2 stars, but add the parking, a craft store and a Dave & Busters..... I'll add another and make it stars!

Urban shopping mall on five or so levels with an elevator, stairs and at least one set of escalators that will bring you from the food court at the base through each floor of stores. Not particularly busy on this weekday evening, but I did see one anchor store still in the process of being remodeled and so it wasn't open. Most of the square footage here seems to be dedicated to the department stores with TJ Maxx and Ross and Marshalls and Burlington Coat Factory. On a dark day, I think that this place would be quite dismal.

In the heart of silver spring, this spot is a great place to reset from all the fun local community events in downtown. Shopping for gifts, you have your budget friendly favorites ~ Marshalls, Burlington. Lots of mini spas, massage, nail & hair salons. Dave and Buster's upstairs. Kid friendly atmosphere, they have the cutest play area. Loads of fun for toddlers & elementary students! Not a very large mall, so no fear of getting too lost. The downs are that elevator, having multiple levels. It is the slowest and the wait is forever. No matter time of day. There is limited lounging areas and no designated eating area or food court. Just places to munch like aunty Anne's Ben and Jerry's, Kung Fu tea & an Asian buffet downstairs. There are plenty of restaurants within the area. Overall, it's a nice simple mall for strolls with young kids, Meet-ups & budget friendly dates.

I was in the parade and I had to run in and out of the Ellsworth to keep from freezing to death. I've been here plenty of times and I find it to be a great little location. They have everything from Dave and busters to the newly added five and below. I use the adjacent parking lot on several occasions throughout any given week. It's different because the mall goes up due to the space instead out out like most malls. The outdoor stores and restaurants are pretty useful and I love the area.

Wheaton Mall is your classic, no-frills local mall--and honestly, it does exactly what it needs to…read moredo. They've got all the staples: JCPenneys, Costco, Macy's, Target, H&M, plus smaller stores like Five Below and Bed, Bath and Beyond. The food court is huge and continues to grow, with some older spots being replaced by newer options. I was first introduced to this mall in a pretty unconventional way--at a dance event hosted by Urban Dance Artistry. The space was large enough to host a big crowd and still allow for smaller performance pockets, which showed me how versatile the mall space actually is. As far as cleanliness goes, the mall itself is generally clean and bustling with a very diverse crowd, which I love to see. The only downside? The bathrooms could definitely use some attention. They can be messy and not the freshest-smelling at times. Although I do really like that they have a separate area for kids to wash their hands. I'm not much of a mall shopper these days, and a lot of the stores aren't necessarily places I'd go out of my way for. But as a parent? This place is gold. My son absolutely loves the play area. There's also a paid bounce house spot near it (which he thoroughly enjoyed), and they have the indoor train that rides through the mall--which is basically a core childhood memory waiting to happen. It's also a great spot for teens to meet up at. I love that they have a little photo booth to print out 4 pictures on a strip, very nostalgic vibes. It's also super convenient. The Wheaton train station is right there, but it's also a hub for a lot of buses, making public transit access incredibly easy. On top of that, you've got nearby restaurants, Party City, a grocery store, and plenty of other essentials within walking distance. There's even a CVS Pharmacy nearby. Overall, it's a solid, practical, family-friendly mall. Not luxury, not glamorous--but convenient, affordable, and full of things to do--especially if you have kids. Four stars from me.

I think PG's strength lies in its simplistic fashion with being able to drive to let's say Ross, Marshalls, Macys, park in the overcrowded lots, and go into the stores without having to bob and weave throughout the actual mall. The mall itself is only one floor instead of two. This can be a good thing but also a bad thing in terms of variety, flavor, and the dynamic experience of the mall. If the mall is going to be one floor, it has to be dynamic and interesting like Annapolis Mall. (I personally don't like Arundel Mills, Circle Mall of Death, so I won't use them as an example.) I have been an avid driver and known to hit many backroads in the DMV and Baltimore region, but hey when I just want to hit a close enough mall, PG is old reliable and has been for many years now. The Macy's is decent (I somewhat prefer Wheaton's for some things, but PG's is better for other things), DSW, Bath and Body Works, TJ Maxx, Target, and the food court are places my family heads to the most here. The food court is much better than Wheaton's in my opinion in terms of the quality and taste of the food. PG's Charleys owns Wheaton's Charleys in terms of a nice greasy, Steak and Cheese. (Yes, we have to watch our blood pressure and cholesterol I know.) I think PG's food court is a little more laid back than Wheaton's. I think the food is better than Wheaton's and Montgomery's food courts. (Neither of those malls can do a Charleys cheesesteak to save their lives.) I think parking behind PG where Macys and formerly were JC Penney is probably the most convenience or the side entrance going towards TJ Maxx and DSW. The front where the bridge is to the Metro station "Hyattsville Crossing formerly Prince George's Plaza" is too congested, chaotic, and a bit too fast-paced and unpredictable way too many pedestrians and cars trying to find parking and get in and out of the mall there, definitely not a fan of parking directly in front of Target. The surrounding restaurants are a nice addition and are better than the strip of restaurants on the side of Wheaton, although Wheaton's adjacent movie theater is much better than the neighboring tumbleweed University Town Center movie theater and mixed development next to PG. Olive Garden has been the most consistent sit-down chain restaurant next to the mall for folks to indulge in. There has been tons of gentrification and new development in this part of Hyattsville, so I have seen some changes over the years slightly with the demographics of the mall, but the heart and core of the clientele has remained consistent. All in all, PG has been that ole reliable for Hyattsville, Adelphi, Mt. Rainer, Greenbelt, New Carrolton, Chillum, other parts of PG, DC, you name it residents for a more casual, laid-back type shopping experience. Nothing too fancy, bougie, or over the top. Now folks into the hip-hop urban culture have numerous clothing, shoe, and accessory stores that cater to them here, so that is a niche and market here for the urban crowd, so the mall is recommended for that crowd. When I don't want to drive to Wheaton, Montgomery, Annapolis (No need for me to go out to Tyson's regularly I am not a mall rat like that) then PG is just that good friend that is there for you! It is a steady-eddy. It is consistent, the bowl of oatmeal and not the sexy meatball sandwich, it is the a little homely, quirky wife and not the supermodel, vixen girlfriend from college, yeah that's PG!
