Wheaton Mall is your classic, no-frills local mall--and honestly, it does exactly what it needs to do. They've got all the staples: JCPenneys, Costco, Macy's, Target, H&M, plus smaller stores like Five Below and Bed, Bath and Beyond. The food court is huge and continues to grow, with some older spots being replaced by newer options. I was first introduced to this mall in a pretty unconventional way--at a dance event hosted by Urban Dance Artistry. The space was large enough to host a big crowd and still allow for smaller performance pockets, which showed me how versatile the mall space actually is. As far as cleanliness goes, the mall itself is generally clean and bustling with a very diverse crowd, which I love to see. The only downside? The bathrooms could definitely use some attention. They can be messy and not the freshest-smelling at times. Although I do really like that they have a separate area for kids to wash their hands. I'm not much of a mall shopper these days, and a lot of the stores aren't necessarily places I'd go out of my way for. But as a parent? This place is gold. My son absolutely loves the play area. There's also a paid bounce house spot near it (which he thoroughly enjoyed), and they have the indoor train that rides through the mall--which is basically a core childhood memory waiting to happen. It's also a great spot for teens to meet up at. I love that they have a little photo booth to print out 4 pictures on a strip, very nostalgic vibes. It's also super convenient. The Wheaton train station is right there, but it's also a hub for a lot of buses, making public transit access incredibly easy. On top of that, you've got nearby restaurants, Party City, a grocery store, and plenty of other essentials within walking distance. There's even a CVS Pharmacy nearby. Overall, it's a solid, practical, family-friendly mall. Not luxury, not glamorous--but convenient, affordable, and full of things to do--especially if you have kids. Four stars from me. read more

I haven't really had a bad or good experience. I usually come here for costco or target or the surrounding stores. I will say that when I went it felt like the air conditioning was not on so it was super hot and humid. Hopefully that issue has been resolved. read more

Costco is the only store we go to. It's been a while but we decided to explore more this weekend. Walked around and just experienced awful humidity and heat. No AC, no air flow except where the Macys, H&M and Target store is. Probably because those are anchor stores. When shoppers end up rushing to get out of a mall, that's bad for business. We chose not to grab lunch as the choice to leave was greater and nothing was making us want to stay and spend money. Costco continues to be our go to and the rest of the mall will remain deserted. read more

Elevators out with no clear alternative access -- major accessibility concern for their base building. Guest are to take 4 flights of stairs near a red trash dumpter. There is no ramp but a huge concrete step that anyone could trip and fall on. It has been out since last week. Doctor office is located on 4th floor for allergy and asthma. Somebody needs to figure out traffic management-- like it's never been Christmas before? Today they're routing two lanes of incoming University Avenue traffic into a right turn only. Good luck if you're trying to get to Giant, which is a left turn there. This brilliant plan has the intersection at University blocked and traffic lined up down University past Hillsdale. There are two hapless security folks who could conceivably be making traffic function if management had a workable plan. read more

All and all, this is a decent mall to visit if you kind of want to do all your shopping all at once. With that, this is the first mall I have been to that I have ever seen a Costco as an anchor store. Having a Costco really helps make this mall an all in one shopping destinations. What sticks out most to me here was the parking. Specifically the parking garage. I was lost when I pulled into the garage portion and ended up parking near what looks like a storage area for construction needs. What compounded this was that where I parked, I was kind of like between two entrances. I know, I could have chose to not park here, but listen, it was raining and I was being extra. Once I figured out which way in this maze I wanted to go, I ended up inside and on my way to some retail therapy. I really didn't need to come here and spend money, but I did it anyway. I took my time making my laps here to view all the stores inside. I went one way and then changed floors and continued. It was a few hours before I finished roaming around here and it was a pleasant way to spend a portion of my day. read more

The service at the kids was horrendous! We paid for an engraving on a hat. They messed it up and we went in to try to get it fixed and they yelled at us and were rude. Don't go here. They will mess up your hats and then say things like you can't do anything about it. Overprice and poor service overall. read more

This mall has a large food court but very few outlets to charge your phone. They aren't near any of the middle tables, only on a few posts on the perimeter, making it hard to charge your phone while you are at a table. Very few in the corridors either even though there are lots of places to sit. Large mall with Target, Costco, Macy's, JC Penney. Giant, DSW, and some other restaurants in the parking lot, movie theater in adjacent building. Right at metro and lots of buses and many office buildings. Across from new safeway and easy access to Silver Spring, so very convenient. read more

Standard mall. Nothing glamorous or exciting. Back in the day, this was maybe a step up from City Place (I'm a MOCO girl from long time). Would occasionally hear about a stabbing here so my mom would forbid me from coming here. I think since they've added the Costco, the traffic here has increased and that's good for business. This isn't my go to mall, but there are a few stores I like here if I need a cheap party dress or accessories (Forever 21, Olive Ole, and Charlotte Russe). I like that the movie theater was renovated and they added the Bar Louie. This isn't my go to mall, but it gets the job done. read more

Just your local big mall. They have a huge food court, JCPenny, Costco, Macys, Target, and other smaller stores like Footlocker, Windsor, Aeropostale, and much more. The stores here are all affordable compared to Tysons mall and Montgomery mall in which these malls have high-end expensive stores and expensive brands. They have an amazing perfume section at Macys. The store is clean, however, the bathrooms could always use some work cause they stink and are messy. A diverse mall but has more Hispanics and Black people. They have a CVS near by. Wheaton train station is also very close by. Lots of deals all the time as well read more

Has it come to this... I'm reviewing a mall... not one particular store... but a mall in general. That's kinda like reviewing humans as a species... they're pretty unique and special individually... but as a collective whole... we're kinda stupid. Does that make sense? No. Well... I don't know where I'm going with this. This mall is pretty basic as it comes btw. It had a target and a Costco which is what i usually come here for. The Sarku is pretty good here. Surprisingly, Spencer's is still around. This hasn't been upgraded as much as Montgomery Mall and seems like a memory trip back to the late 90s. 3 stars. This was my first time coming to Wheaton. I'm typically a Tyson's type of gal. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. Sure it was crowded but it was a Sunday afternoon. There were ample stores that I could actually find affordable clothing in. The H&M here is amazing! Everything is so organized and it's very large in comparison to Lake Forest. I was able to navigate the aisles freely and purchase my clothes with no problem. The Olive Ole here is HUGE! This is more of a trendy fashion nova type store. I used to frequent the one off of Little River Turnpike in VA so I was sooo happy to see one in a mall! Most of their clothes I would never wear but if you look hard enough you can find some gems at a very low price. The Macy's also shocked me. Usually they are small with frumpy dress clothing but I actually found some seriously cute work clothes here. If you're looking for a new bag, Michael Kors, is an designed as it gets. I didn't have time to check the other department stores. Parking was a pain and a little confusing. I ended up parking by Macy's & Target. How great that a mall also has a Target? Love it! I'll definitely be back to check out more stores! This may end up being my go to mall. read more

It wasn't very busy at all after the New Year's like I had thought it would be with all the huge discounts and sales going on after the holidays. Not my favorite mall, but it is improving. I mainly come just for Target. Last week On a Sunday afternoon, I actually walked around inside the mall. There are some stores worth perusing, but I prefer Westfield Montgomery. There are some major safety concerns here. I've come for the Costco pizza slices (no membership needed!) and Auntie Anne's pretzels (my Achilles heel). The food court doesn't really wow me. There is ample parking, except near Costco. I usually park outside Target which has entry into the mall. read more

Pretty standard mall. Wheaton's shopping center is more likely to have deals and cheaper prices compared to the other malls in the area. I don't like coming here that often because it is just so crowded. They have a Target, JCPennys, Macy's, and Costco here. There's a chipotle, Nandos, and Panera to eat at. One perk is that you can eat at the Costco food court even if you do not have a membership. If you are not coming to shop in Costco make sure you park by JCPennys it is less of a mess there. read more

This was not my first visit to Westfield Wheaton. We usually stop by on the way to some other mall or restaurant. There is one specific store that my daughter likes, so we usually stop by to see if they have anything new and appealing. The mall appeared visually clean. However, I find this mall very interesting. I have been to other Westfield locations, but this one is kind of basic. The first time we walked around and saw people pushing Target shopping carts within the mall was different. I found that kind of different because that is not what I am used to. As we neared the store, there was a horrible smell in the vicinity. The open space smelled like a dirty mall bathroom. We all smelled it. It was not pleasant and considering that the food court is only a short distance away made the thought of the odor even worse. I am certainly in no hurry to return. read more

This mall is pretty basic. It has a Macy's and JC Penney, as well as a Costco and Target attached to it. It's a good mall to get the basic things you need, but you wouldn't come here for high end stores like Bloomingdales or Nordstrom. They used to have a Filipino restaurant in the mall, but that closed down and so I don't come here often anymore. Now, I'm not sure why, but it seem to be the case that whenever I go to Wheaton the prices seem a tad cheaper than the same items in other stores across town. That said, I like going to this mall for formal wear that I'll only use one time. There are several stores here that sell gowns for fairly inexpensive. I also go to Wheaton for Costco. It is a little bit of a pain because it seems to always be more crowded than other Costco's. It might be due to the fact that you have to fight for parking in a parking garage and then still trek inside the mall to get to the Costco. I would rate Wheaton mall a solid three stars. read more

3/7/21 Time to explore the possibilities at Wheaton Mall. From what I have seen, the mall is fairly crowded with lots of teenagers dressing how I remember seeing some kids back in my day. Mask coverings were enforced, but every so often people like Donald Trump did not wish to wear their masks at all or wear them correctly. For the most part the mall fine and it felt a little strange to be around so many of my brothers and sister. Guess you could say I am use to being one the few and the proud (I am not talking about the Marines ) black men in mostly white areas. Guess part of my up bring has stayed with me. I did notice a lot if jewelry places in this mall. Most of the jewelry was flashy and unwanted to me. Still I admire the work that went into these pieces of jewelry. There is one section of the mall I did not see, because the mall was closing. It was where the target area is. I will check it out next time I visit. Maybe see the movie theater too. Finally on three separate occasions people seemed to thing I was an employee or a manager of the stores I visited. Guess wearing all back and carrying yourself well makes a difference. I did help the people who had questions to the best of my abilities. read more

So this is one of my favorite malls in the DMV area. I really liked the setup, the stores, the cleanliness of the restrooms and the total experience. I also enjoy that it is directly on a train line so I don't have to drive up here. But even so, they have plenty of parking nearby with multiple garages including one at the train station. read more

Suburban shopping malls are somewhat of an anachronism at this point. Wheaton is old school, with a bunch of generic chains. It's pretty accessible with a Metro stop nearby as well as abundant parking. I've come here a few times over the years hunting for various things, but I've rarely found them, including this last time when I came looking for a phone-even checking online inventory beforehand-to find my carrier was out of stock. The food here isn't much and it's a bit of a depressing place, really. I wouldn't go here by choice. read more

I wish Wheaton Mall better monitored the practices of its kiosks. I visited the "Phone Repair Shop" kiosk at Wheaton Mall on 8/27/23 and I had the battery in my iPhone 6 replaced and I purchased a cell phone case and a charging cable. I later found out that these items/services were grossly overpriced and that I was cheated by the man at this kiosk. I was chaged $60 to change the battery in my iPhone 6 (this was not even an Apple brand battery) when it should have cost $45 or less, I was charged $25 for a iPhone 6 case when this should have cost less then $5 and I was charged $30 (yes $30!) for a charging cord (that wasn't even an Apple brand cord) that should have cost less than $3. The man at the kiosk has manipulative selling tactics and he refused to give me a refund for the cable and case even after I pointed out how he charged me 10x the price for some of the items. He refused to give me his name or anything. Please do not visit this kiosk. I wish Wheaton Mall would better monitor who it allows to have kiosks. It seems that the kiosks can charge whatever they want and treat customers however they want without any consequences or oversight. read more

WARNING: Fruitflies the Size of Helicopters. The entire food court and Panera bread is infested with huge fruitflies hovering over your eating air space. Drinks or food with dark specs is not a good sign. The cleaning staff that change out the trash bins do their best, but's there not much they can do. The huge flies hang around the back of cooking areas and soda fountains. Yet, its the Westfield mall management that allows this infestation, since each restaurant can not eradicate this alone. So disgusting. Westfield management should eat at the food court and see how many times they have to swat flies like the rest of the patrons. read more

After a very long day, we needed some food and we weren't going to be picky about it. This mall is pretty close to where we were, so we decided to eat here. I hate malls. Can't stand them. The unifomity repulses me. Everything is the same and there is no variety. This is one of the many reasons as to why I can't live in Maryland anymore. It was nice as a kid, but as an adult, it blows. But beggars can't be choosers, and we were famished. I ate at the Greene Leaf Grille. They serve up decent salads. I was able to make a salad with romaine greens, carrots, eggs, cucumbers, tomatoes, shaved parmiggiano, olives, mushrooms, raisins and walnuts. It was a great salad and I felt very satisfied. Veggies always make me happy, so I am grateful I had this option. Now if only I could find a decent slice of carrot cake... read more

We were loyal customers to JCP. My wife and my daughter (5 years old) went to JCP to buy Fathers' day stuffs at the Wheaton MD location on last Friday and in between my daughter ranaway into the food court and her mom tried to get her at the gate but the alarm made a sound. The security guard disrespectfully hold my wife and daughter. My wife tried to explain the situation, but they disrespectfully mistreated my wife and 5yrs old daughter, SAD! We decided to return back the JCP credit card and cancel our membership with JCP, Costco & LA fitness!!! read more

This is the nearest mall to me love the Costco and that there bringing back the theatre and improved, however the family bathroom is discussing!!! There are small children using this bathroom a they should clean more often and most of the sinks don't even work. The chairs for breastfeeding are the most hardest chairs in the world, so uncomfortable. You should really think more about us mommys. read more

I was excited to see a new restaurant that had Japanese food across the aisle from Costco yesterday. I noticed they were promoting dishes with teriyaki, but I don't eat that much sugar so I asked if they had something else and then looked through the menu and did not know that the shrimp I chose was going to have teriyaki sauce. I also asked for no rice, because I eat mostly low-carb. I was given a very generous portion of vegetable mix as the bed for the seafood the mix contained mostly cabbage plus broccoli, and maybe some other things in it as I watched, they squirted oil on it a few times, and I don't like to eat seed oils, such as canola sunflower, Soy or Other vegetable oils, because they are inflammatory. I prefer avocado, olive or coconut oil. I ended up taking it home instead of eating there, and washing in a colander, and then reheating it in my own wok and I added my own generic Asian sauce to give it some flavor. It was fresh and good, but I don't think it was worth the effort of trying to avoid their seed oils by washing and reheating it myself. Next time I may try something different. If I can't avoid the oil, I will just skip this restaurant. I was really hoping for more authentic Japanese food, but this was the kind of food you could get almost anywhere. I wrote this review for the new Japanese restaurant Sarku, but it's more difficult to use Yelp on the phone so it ended up somehow in the generic Wheaton mall topic. (I'm going to talk about the mall overall, not individual stores b/c this is the Yelp page for the whole mall.) {TL;DR version: Good variety of restaurants and affordable stores; "atmosphere" is not the best} - Convenient because the variety of store types allows me to do several errands in one place, it's Metro accessible, and free public WiFi is available - Lots of choices for food and cheap women's clothes. - Mostly sells low-end to mid-range products. If you want to buy high-end products, you'll have better luck at Montgomery Mall or Tyson's. - I enjoy looking at the art by kids in local schools that's often on display. - Kiosk workers, especially Barbizon, are particularly annoying and aggressive IMO compared to other malls - There's a problem of individuals soliciting money/business within stores. (ex. In a clothing store someone, tried to get me to pay for a palm reading... ) - In my experience, there are many employees will leave you alone unless *you* come to *them* (not a negative for me but I know it is for some), some that are more outgoing, and none that are actively rude. - Many families come here w/ small kids and a lot (not all!) let their kids run amok. These kids almost collide w/ others b/c they run wild through the aisles/halls w/o paying attention to their surroundings. - The mall train and "Animal Riders" are in an annoying location IMO because they block aisles/halls that people are trying to walk through. Overall, despite its problems, this mall still gets 3 stars for having a Dippin' Dots and for being a reliable place to get different types of things in one stop. When I am looking for the most basic version of something for cheap I can count on this mall. read more

This mall has come a long way! It has great anchor stores here. Macy's, Target, Costco (yes, in a mall!), DSW, and JC Penney. This mall literally gets a higher rating from me because I can run more errands at once than just getting a new outfit. The food court here is pretty decent, but the food options go way beyond that. There is a Panera, Nandos (yesss... that is a whole separate review of yum!), Chipolte, and more. And to make things even better, you can get Costco food without having to step into Costco. The food area is outside the store, no card required. The play area does get over crowded....and yeah... it kind of smells like feet some days. Second thought, the whole mall gets crowded some days. The parking can also be a bit of a joke (Dont park by Costco unless you need to). Other than that, it's everything you need all in one place. So yeah, I'll take the extra five minutes to find a parking spot. And I don't mind the extra people walking around, because I just knocked out half of my errands in one trip and even had a decent lunch. read more

Since moving to Silver Spring MD in August of 2021 this mall has probably become my most frequent retail destination. This mall is a very busy place because of all of the popular stores on the malls 2 floors and the anchor stores that are attached to it. For starters there is Target & Costco. My daughter & son-in-law have a Costco membership. Their brand is called Kirkland. We have tried a lot of their large and prepackaged multi pack healthy meats including the sausage, hamburger & chicken. The price of the sausage is very good and the flavor is great. Their pizzas with cauliflower crust were smaller, not as tasty & a bit more expensive. My daughter often buys large containers of fresh berries at Costco & yet they still seem to disappear fast. They are very popular with my 2 grandchildren. And we can't forget the Kirkland toilet paper. Two other anchor stores I like here is Target and Dicks! It was at Dicks that I found myself a good quality pair of swim goggles for under $20 when everywhere else they were almost gone & $40 in the middle of August. As for Target I find almost everything I use on a daily basis here and at very good prices from produce, dairy, Homegoods & snacks to clothing! They have a lot of great sales also in addition to the Circle discounts and the 5 percent Target card discount! Macy's is another anchor store. At the T-Mobile store I had friendly & fast service when going there for a T-Mobile Tuesday promo event. The food court has a great variety of fast food options including Popeyes. With a separate entrance from the parking lot your order pickup can be quick & easy when your on the the go! My The grandchildren age 3 and 5 have enjoyed the mall play area when the weather is rainy and cold! There is a total of 183 stores here in all including a covid 19 vaccination and testing station, DSW Shoes, Claire's, GameStop, Finish Line, JC Penney and a Hershey's Ice Cream store. Target opens early at 8 am but the other stores don't open until 10 am. There are several parking lots so parking is usually not difficult but recently they put a row of truck trailers in a section of the Costco/Target lot which is the busiest one making the parking more complicated.
