Another floor up and the messier, with less selection, we get. Honestly, from the moment you walked into this location, it was a mess. What should be a tip off here is the layout of the store, it is quite odd. The further back into the store you go, the worse it gets. From the mall area looking in, you are a bit deceived by this place. The front looks well stocked and organized and then as you go into the depths of this space, it is like everything went to hell. Especially the back back of this store. I assume that the mall overall use to be really busy as there was a rear entrance/exit, complete with registers and everything. Well that is closed off and the registers now appear to be a catch all for items that people didn't want and didn't get put back on the shelf. The registers also serve as a cutoff point for where this store just gave up on picking up items from the floor and cleaning. After I fought my way back to the front, and past several security people, I did find an item or two. Back to normal at the register, I paid and made my way out. Onto the next stop. read more

First, it's confusing to get into this store. I walked up stairs towards the illuminated ROSS sign just to be greeted by carts closing off that particular entrance to the store. Y'all couldn't have placed a sign at the bottom reading: THIS IS NOT AN ENTRANCE? Once you finally find the right way to enter, you'll notice immediately that it looks like a natural disaster struck the place. There's stuff everywhere and rarely where it's supposed to be. I will say they have a great selection of clothing and shoes. Everything else seemed kind of meh. The shoe section was annoying because I found boots that I absolutely loved. I thought they were my size, but because they were in my size's section. Nope! Just placed on the shelf, and this was the case with several pairs of shoes. The clothes were the same way. I don't know why I even continued to use the size markers. I will also say the staff was very friendly, but this store, like others have already mentioned, is a steaming hot mess. read more

I'm a fan of Ross! I mean who doesn't like a bargain?! This is like literally the worst location I've ever been to and I go to a lot of different Ross stores!!! I've come a few times but the selection here is never the best. It's almost like they're the forgotten child. Last week during my most recent visit (and it will probably be my last), I stopped by to do a return. And while I was there I figured I would browse.  Found a few things but nothing that I would brag about. The store isn't very clean nor organized! The selections are lacking!! Again, the forgotten. So sad!! The employees were not helpful nor friendly! I joined the line and usually they have a separate return versus purchase line, but not here. There were two cashiers and the line moved so slow! I finally make it up to the register and the cashier tells me she doesn't know how to do returns and that I will have to wait for someone else to do it. What a hot mess! Very disappointed in this Ross today, though based on prior reviews, I shouldn't have been. I had trouble finding the location, entering via Colesville instead of Fenton. Shopping was fine, but there were a lot of empty hangers. The biggest pain point was waiting to pay. The cashier ignored me waiting then the loss prevention man told me the line was on the other side, where another person were waiting. I had been waiting for 5 minutes with no indication I wasn't in the right area. I rarely do this, but I left my cart & walked out. I have never been treated so poorly at any Ross & I've been to many. I will never return to this location. read more

We went when the store was OPEN. We shop for an hour then go to pay. The security guard tells us there are NO CASHIERS. Why are you even open? He said there's only the manager and she's busy, come back later. No thank you. We will not be coming back. read more

Okay does the store generally look a hot mess? The answer is YES. However, every store has a purpose in eyes. I know if I need a dress for business and/or business casual purposes I'm going straight to Ross. Ross always has at least a few different options in terms of dresses and/or jumpsuits, this location included. There are usually a good number of variations from Calvin Klein. Anything else I find at this Ross I treat as a bonus. The shoes are usually in disarray but I have had luck finding some cute shoes here. Also, on the men's side for shoes there appears to be pretty good options if your looking for cleats and/or tennis shoes. I also usually have luck finding my favorite lotion here for less than in the grocery store. My general advice is to come when you're just casually perusing and not when you need something specific. Horrible service! Came in for a quick return and they are having returns and purchases in one line, essentially bc they feel like it. The line is wrapping around aisles. There were multiple employees free behind the return counter and walking around, but they are insisting everyone is in one line. This is bad management of the store. The whole process is slow and ineffective; another customer and I left. read more

I agree with Ayana. This store is a hot mess! And by mess, I mean the shelves are all in disarray, or way overstocked with stuff inconveniently jammed in. Their gourmet food section does not compare to the two aisles at TJ Maxx in the same mall, and they too recently opened. Here at Ross, the food is on two carts. Yes, carts. Right in front of the check-out lines, so it is awkward to step in front of people waiting to pay for their items, and hard to see what they offer. Clothing prices are higher than TJ Maxx too. Decent Ross. It's better than other ones within the DMV. But it's hard to want to come here when there is also Marshall's and TJMaxx in the same building. But then again, it's good to compare all options for the best bargain. This Ross closes at 10:30 on Friday's which is nice as most places close earlier. read more

The line today at 1:30pm took about 40 minutes to get to the top. Then to make matters worse the cashier, by the name of Kim, was extremely rude. There was another customer before us that asked for the manager after dealing with Kim. When we got to the top of the line she stated that they only had small bags and if we wanted. After the third small bag she began to fill up, I asked if we were being charged for all of these bags, she said yes 5 cents each. I asked if large bags were the same price and she said yes. I asked her to please make everything fit into the 2 bags she had already charged us for because that's messed up to keep charging 5 cents for small bags, when everything we had could've fit into one large bag. Instead of replying to me she started singing in her native language. I told her that was very rude and she continued to sing. On top of that we were asked to remove our own hangovers and to insert our credit card as soon as she started ringing the items up. What type of scam is that? Had the manager not been engaged with the previous customer who called her on Kim, I would've complained to the manager as well. I was just happy to finally get out of the store that only had 2 cashiers working when the line was so long it was going into the clothing aisle. In addition the lady working the fitting room was rude as well. Horrible staffing in here, and not one of them had on name tags. How convenient. That cashier could've lied about her name being Kim. I will avoid this Ross from here on out, never before at any other location have I experienced such terrible customer service. read more

Ross is the latest discount department store to make its way to Ellsworth Place. I visited on the day of the grand opening, and found a bright, open space, filled with everything one might want from a Ross. Which is everything. I love Ross, and so I love that it has joined Marshalls and TJ Maxx in this odd shopping experience. The Ellsworth Place rebirth still has a way to go, but stacking these three stores atop one another is a smart move. Ross was insanely busy today, as it was their first day open. Still, I was greeted and assisted in a timely manner, and the lines moved with assured speed. The store was a mess, because the staff was too busy helping to properly sort, hang, and fold the merchandise, but I have hopes that this will change in a week or so when the novelty wears off. read more

Great addition to downtown silver spring area! Store was little empty and out of stock but it had "enough". The line was really long with 2 cashiers. Lots of security staff around the store... but price is always good on certain merchandises. read more

This location hasn't even been open for two weeks and it's already a scattered, poorly stocked mess. It's not as bad as the Rockville Pike location, but I attribute that to the store still being new, give it time. Ross just doesn't do it for me. Of all the discount stores like it ( Marshalls, TJMax and Burlington), Ross has become my least favorite. Shopping here really is hit or miss, but mainly miss. Seeing as though this location is no different from others, pretty certain this will be my first and last trip. read more

Came in today after an advanced movie screening and a higher level associate named Lauren was rude and lacked proper customer service. She was speaking to an associate while taking customers which is rude and a waste of customers time. Not to mention we came in after 9pm and you close at 10pm. Help me help you leave your customer service job faster. But I can't stand when employees do this. Remember, customers in front of you are important and employees can wait. This store is a terrible mess and it has been getting worse every month since January. It looks like a disaster. The shelves and racks are semi empty. All clothes are messed up male & female, sizes, etc. But the worst part is the employees. They spend their time socializing and chatting with each other and their buddies. They ignore customers, show bad attitude and disrespect, and create lines. Most of the times only one cashier is available. Others are too busy stocking empty hangers. Occasionally the loss prevention guard will check you out because cashiers are away. This store needs a good manager who would care about the business and customers and train the associates to be efficient and customer friendly. read more

I haven't been to this specific location in over a year and I will not be coming back! The covid protocols are non existence! The cashiers call the next customer over before the other customer has even left and they don't clean beforehand. Every other place I have been to wipes down everything such as the counter and pin pad before calling over the next costumer the fact that they did not is ridiculous and the 2 registers that were open were right next to eachother so the costumers are within 6 feet. Also when I was leaving the man at the front told me to go out the other way while I was walking though that passageway I get it's your job but maybe make signs clear so I can know I was supposed to exit that way. Oh yea and then this lady cut in front of the line and just walked up when the cashier said next in line and started putting her stuff down which the other customer was still there gathering her things. The other cashier noticed she cut the line and said nothing to her so now lines don't matter either ok so covid protocols don't existence here and there are no rules for standing and waiting in line.
