Rostad never disappoints. I had an award event to attend and I wanted something different to wear. It was a daytime banquet therefore I did not want to wear a gown. For two months I ordered dresses on line and all came in cheap and fitting. With less than 4 days to go I went to the mall. More disappointment. Finally I got some sense in my head and took that out drive to Rostas. In 10 minutes I was shown this dress. I knew it was the one. The fit and style was so classy. If I could give 0 stars I would - We were in line waiting for Marilyn Manson concert - it was pouring rain and I had my 3 year old daughter with me. I'm assuming he was the owner - he came out and harassed my daughter for blocking the door - we were barely blocking it. Mind you, he didn't have any customers and it was pouring out and we were just waiting for the concert. We were all soaking wet and cold. He yelled at us to move away from him door and threatened to call the cops on my 3 year old daughter, but there was no where to go because we were all trying to stay out of the rain. I have never been here before but I will never ever be coming to this store for the harassment this man did. He harasses little girls and was extremely rude to everyone that was around us. You go to a USMC ball you will see a lot of red dresses. But not one in 2019 had this one. Loved the dress, price was just under $150 and it fit like a charm plus held up without wrinkle after falling off the hanger in a dress bag for several hours. Lost this dress in a move and have been sad ever since that I can't find another until I'm back in silver spring, md. Go to here for the dress not as much for the service. I am a Black woman and I have shopped here for over 20 years. I find that the owners are so responsive and helpful whenever I go there and the people I sent there all have been pleased. It is a store my 28 yr. old daughter and I In my sixties both can find some thing to wear. Often when a known client comes in they can go downstairs and shop without a chaperone ,however new customers Will be escorted. You do realize the times we live in. Candidly speaking over the past 20 years I can count how many Caucasian people I have seen in the store on one hand. Admittedly they have had some less than charming staff , but as a business owner I believe we all have had some oops that has have not reflected our firms as we would want. I was visiting again and decided to stop by on the off chance I could find something for another wedding. I did. I went in the shop because I was curious. The dresses look so elegant from the window I wanted to see what they had inside. Upon entering, a few items caught my eye, but unfortunately they did not have my size. I continued to look around. I was so enchanted from some of their items that I failed to notice that the sales person was trailing me. Wherever I went...she was there. I continued to walk around and she says,"We have clothes downstairs too". I said, "Great!"When I look downstairs, I could see that there was a Caucasian couple browsing...unattended, meaning shopping freely...by themselves. They were alone. When I went downstairs she followed me everywhere, pretending to be fixing garments staying at least a yard away. She continued to trail me until I left. When I walked out of the store, I felt a certain way. Read the other reviews. The owners, workers.... DISCRIMINATE against minorities. When I googled the shop and read how others had been treated, I knew unmistakably that I had been discriminated against. As a consumer, regardless of race, I should have the right to shop anywhere I choose freely without prejudice. Please beware!!!! I went with my niece to find her a prom dress. It was completely unwelcoming and the staff was very disrespectful and made it clear that they did not want me or my money. First, no one acknowledged our presence. Man at the counter just kept on eating his food and didn't say a word to us. We picked out a dress to try on. A women approaches us if we need help. We said "not yet, we'll let you know when we need to try something on, thank you" and she reached out to get the dress I was holding. I assumed she was going to hold them until we were ready. She goes "what size are you looking for? This one you have is 10-12" (label said XL and it stretched) She goes "the dresses run small" We just stare at her and say I think it will fit. Again she goes "but they run really small" I said "are you implying she's too big to try on?" She just looks at the dress then looks at us "they run small" We said so I guess you don't want us to look. She doesn't say anything. We start walking away. I told the man who was eating "you guys don't want business from us?" Thinking maybe he'd be interested in addressing the situation or explaining. He goes "thank you have a good day" Never will I enter nor recommend this place to anyone. I hope they learn to NOT treat people like this or people of color. I felt discriminated. Please learn about customer service and treating everyone equally. Learn to value customers and make them comfortable. read more

This is definitely a FANTASTIC women's boutique with BEAUTIFUL party gowns & dresses for every occasion with truly AFFORDABLE prices!! Ever since I found this boutique in Silver Spring back in early 90's, I refuse to shop anywhere else for my one-of-a-kind elegant party dresses. I've brought many of my friends & relatives to shop here -and they all love shopping at Rosta's, too. Their personal attention to every customer is SUPERB! Their polite & patient staff always take their time to assist you while trying on their clothes for the perfect fit. Their newly relocated & remodeled store on Fenton St (off Colesville Rd) looks so high-end with their huge crystal chandelier & gorgeous marble fireplace, that it sort of makes you feel like entering a boutique on Rodeo Drive or Madison Ave... but without hurting your wallet. They also bring new (trendy & classic) merchandise -at least weekly, so there's always lots of variety. I just love, love, love their clothes!! DISGUSTING BUSINESS! I went to find a prom dress with my friend. I wear an XL and she wears a XS. My friend was able to try her dress on- no issues. She waited to pay while I went to try. I had about 5 dresses, all of which would fit (and we're potentially Too big!). I asked the owner (a man) where the fitting rooms were since I didn't see my friend go in and he grabbed the dresses from my hand. I thought he would take them to the fitting room for me. Instead he begins reading out the sizes and telling me it won't fit and they're "too small". I told him I'm certain they will and he refused to give them back to me. Absolutely horrifyingly rude. I left and so did my friend. Absolute asshole owner obviously discriminates against plus sizes. DESPITE stocking plus sizes and he and his wife both being plus size. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! read more

Dont second guess yourself after going to 3 other places looking for a prom dress this was our last which should have been our 1st stop. No small sizes. :-( I drive by this store almost daily and have always admired the window displays. Well, I finally had an event that gave me an excuse to visit the store. I was shopping for cocktail attire. I found two lovely dresses and one dressy pant jumpsuit. I went to find my size and no luck on all three items... I really like all three items and all three were great continders for the event. I wear a 4 and the smallest size that I saw was an 8. They should expand their sizes. There are a lot of tiny teenagers and prom season is close. I likely won't go here again for this reason. But they do have very nice clothing. read more

I went here today to look for a dress to wear to a wedding. When I walked in I was not greeted by anyone or acknowledged the whole time I was there. That fact aside, this store clearly focuses on prom type outfits. The vast majority of the dresses were covered in sparkles and way fancier than I feel like a normal person would wear to a nice event. Rostas has some amazing stuff that i find really beautiful. With that being said the last time i was in there i experienced my first bout of profiling. I walked into the store with my two coworkers and we were all black. we aren't greeted its cool i don't mind. we walk around the store then we go downstairs we are downstairs looking around and the saleswoman comes down stairs asking if we need help im like no we are ok. she lingers around us following us as we go around but still keeping her safe distance from us she stays downstairs until we leave then comes back up and still follows us around upstairs asking us if we need help...there are other people in the store who are not of color and no one is following them around seriously I've never experienced this before when i walked into any place or at least i never paid any attention to it i saw some cute stuff there and i was going to buy it but best believe those people are not getting my hard earned money Unless they improve their customer relations then I will not be going there anymore read more

I have never been treated to rudely in my life. Picked out a few dresses to try on and mind you, I have curves. One dress was more form fitting in the waist so it wouldn't zip up all the way. No big deal, it happens with different designers and styles. The short, older minority woman who was helping us, took all the other dresses and put them away once she realized the dress I tried on wasn't going to fit. Not just took them to hang back up but moved them to the back storage room so I couldn't try them on. When my friend went to ask where the dresses were so I could try them on, the woman said I was too fat and that they wouldn't fit me. My friend asked if we could still try them because if I liked one I could always order up and the little woman said no we were too fat to try them on and even if they did fit, we couldn't afford them. My friends and I both have government jobs with great benefits. We also are Hispanic but apparently this woman thought that minorities cannot afford anything and continued to call us fat. This woman was a minority who should uplift woman in her field of work by trying to assist them in finding a dress that not only fits their unique body type but embraces it in a way that compliments a lady's features. Instead, she bashed and belittled us in such a manner that I believe she seemed to be enjoying it. Like she got her kicks from being cruel to other women. I would highly recommend skipping this store altogether. Hardly have any dresses in larger sizes, or multiples of the same dress in different sizes. My friend is a size 6 and was called fat. The woman (not sure if she was the owner) was rude and insulting. Normally I would prefer to shop at small businesses because the experience is wonderful but this lady ruined it for me. I will be shopping at a chain store to get my formal gown. After visiting this place I will be glad to pay $$$$$ because this place doesn't deserve my business. read more
