This TJ Maxx used to be the best in the area. The selection is good, but not as good as the ones in Burtonsville. It's cleaner and neater there. The one thing that bothers me the most is the cashiers' insistence of me opening a TJ Maxx card. Everyone asks once except for one guy who asks me 5 times. At least 5 times. Each time I shop there he is relentless. He doesn't take no for an answer. This is worst than the super long lines. Not going here again. Don't recommend. read more

Great finds overall (home, adult apparel), but I wish there were more options for kids clothing and kids shoes.

4.26.22 Compared to other TJ Maxx's, this one is less than satisfactory. The restroom and fitting rooms were dirty. There were dust bunnies in the fitting room and the restroom stalls had paper on the floor and the seat covers were not properly secured in the stall. Selection of merchandise wasn't as stylish as those in my local store. I only stopped by to kill time while I was waiting to meet up for happy hour nearby. Don't think I would come here again if I was in the area. read more

The visit was mediocre. This TJ Maxx has been in this shopping center for years, and I've only been here a few times since. I visited last night, around 8pm. The parking lot in front of the store was full, which is surprising for a Thursday night in a small, suburb location. I went inside and immediately groaned at the very, very long checkout line. I had a return from a few months ago, and my mom informed me that the store accepts returns beyond 30 days and issues a store credit so I was thankful for that. I stood in line for about 10 minutes, got called up by a friendly and unassuming gentleman, and mentioned that I needed to return a product. The employee immediately called the manager Marina over and she frowned when I mentioned that I have a return and that because my printed receipt had faded beyond legibility, I always take a photo of my receipts and have a backup digital copy. I asked her why she made a face; the receipt was still scannable and was essential the same as the print version. The return process was quick, the employee competently completed it, and handed me a store credit. The store itself has surprisingly very little decor for Halloween--one small table at the very front of the store, an endcap with some items, and half an aisle with some more. I was disappointed in the selection. The store is also very messy and hard to enjoy shopping in, but this is common with TJ Maxxs. There is a large clearance section in the far left rear of the store. The bathrooms are on a lower level. We ended up departing without buying anything. Apart from the successful return, the experience in this store was bland. I would not return to this location. read more

The selections here are always hit and miss. Fortunately, the racks are pretty consistently stocked. You can absolutely find great quality and comfortable clothing. The back section has cool household items and accessories. The clearance racks and section can be a pleasant turnout. I'd recommend, if possible, to avoid this location on weekends until the later day. The lines get insanely long. You can expect to wait easily 20 minutes on any given day. The customer service can be hit or miss. It depends on who is managing and how many cashiers are available. The bathrooms seem ok, stocked, and clean for the most part. read more

I absolutely Love this TJ Maxxxx! I come out to Olney to get my nails done twice a month and always have to stop in here to see what's new and poppin! This store never disappoints!! And, I'm usually in and out in a flash! Just in time for my nail appointment just 5 mins away :) They have so many cool pieces of furniture and other odds and ends. I also find that this location has a really good selection of women's dresses as I've purchased several cute and unique ones, all at very reasonable prices! The staff is also very friendly and helpful. It's a definite "must stop in" if you're in the Olney area! BTW - I purchased some super cute night stands from this location that all of my home visitors absolutely LOVE and ask from where I purchased. Don't sleep on this spot! It's just a hump to get to if you aren't used to coming out this way, but well worth the trip! read more

Short staffed even the day before NYE! You gotta be patient to sort through the shoes because only size 6 is organized. The displays without clothes are messy and have various random items all over the place. The only good thing was the clothes I picked out had the correct plastic size label. If I didn't need these items, I would get out of this long line and leave like many other people did. read more

I love TJ Maxx, but man oh man this store has the worst lines!! I don't understand their tactics for handling the lines, because as soon as the line gets short they cut the majority of people from cashiers? Why? Just let the line be short! There have been so many times where I have gone here and found everything I want, but just can't stay in line for 30 minutes. Over the holidays I opted to go to stores where I could rely on knowing I wouldn't have to spend hours in line and just spend a little more money. read more

Long lines in registers. Can't tell is its the cashier's slow or too many customers ? I been there twice this year. Did not buy anything after I saw the line by register when I walk-in. I was looking for a matching furniture yet they have extremely limited pieces due to HOMEgoods right across the parking lot. Its was also messy shelves and items seems just jammed to be in the shlf. Great selection of clothing. Need patience to peruse the many clothing racks in order to find the hidden gem. Prices are reasonable compared to department stores. I like the variety of brands available in one store. No need to travel from store to store in search of the best brands. The store could use an update (sometimes the front doors do not automatically open) and be ​slightly more aesthetically​ pleasing. read more

I was very impressed with the customer service, in particular, James S. He was very helpful in bringing an ottoman/storage bench from the back of the store. He brought it to the curbside and placed into our van quite deftly. I tried to tip him, but he refused it. A very nice young man. It's so refreshing to meet such cheerful people. First waited to get price on earrings. The clerk appeared to be racial profiling because she waited on those who came up after me and I had credit card in hand. After she showed me the price I told the clerk I wanted to show them to my husband. She never spoke but threw them back into the case where he could not see them and she was too busy with another guest to show them... OK... I'll shop and come back... Went to restroom and only staff that said hello was coming off the elevator... Had $60 in merchandise in my hand to purchase. In line more than 10 minutes while employees shopped, worried about breaks and sorted racks. Only 2 cashiers. Line had at least 10. I left with NOTHING... Cute items for cheap price however the line is usually very long and they have a big stealing problem. The phone cases are at the front of the store and the big brand ones like otter box, speck and case mate are usually stolen out of the box or even replaced with the stealers previous phone case. It's very frustrating they need to do something about it. read more

I appreciate this store coming to Olney. At first, they stocked some very quality brands and fibers at great prices. The staff is always pleasant and well demeanored. Anything, underhanded about their business practices I was unaware of, or ignored. Great selection of clothes and home goods. Associates are friendly. Yes, the checkout lines can be long, but I've never waited longer than 10 minutes. Clean, bright dressing rooms, nice variety, new stuff every time I go. This store has been such an asset to Olney. This is the best TJ Maxx in the DMV. It is one of the best TJ Maxx I have ever been to. It is hidden away in Olney and it serves as the only place to go shopping for clothes in Olney. They have a wide variety of different brands and styles. You can get excellent clothes or shoes for both genders and all age groups. They are a great purse section, home decor section, and health/beauty section. I have gotten great priced designer perfumes here as well. I love this TJ Maxx and go here to shop for myself and gifts for others. Great prices and great brands! read more

This is the worse TJ Maxx I've had the misfortune to give my money to. The lines are horribly long and the manager Ida is rude and needs intensive customer service training. I stood in line with 27, yes 27, other customers waiting to contribute to these employees' salary, yet despite there being 5 employees behind the register fiddling with random items, only 2 registers were open moving at a snails pace. My cashier David was bubbly and very friendly, however this is one of the few times I've had a positive spending experience here. It took me 12 minutes to purchase one small item when there were more than enough sales people to get the 27 paying customers on their way. I've spent far too much money here over the past few years for such piss poor service. I wont be back. Ironically, the Home Goods next door has impeccable service and is quick to address long lines. read more

This is good place to shop when needing something for the home or clothes for anyone in the family. They sell name brand items at discount prices. Recently purchased bar stools form this store that were a lot cheaper than what I was finding online. The store employee even discounted a stool after noticing a blemish on the seat. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I will definitely shop here again. read more

This is hands down the best TJ MAX in this area. As is the Home Goods next door. Both of these stores on Rockville Pike give me anxiety, even just thinking about them. In this TJMAX the dresses are where the dresses should be, the shoes are in the size category they should be and there is always a whole host of people working diligently to organize merchandise and put things away. Always able to find some gems in here, super expensive handbags for less, Tumi luggage, the list goes on. And, you're able to FIND the items because the staff here really keeps this store fabulous and neat. read more

This was the first time I shopped at the Olney, MD location. I bought two pairs of men's house slippers for my sons. Within 3 days, the started to fall apart. I know they have a NO return policy, but I took them back with the receipt. The customer service person basically insinuated that I did NOT buy them from that store. They shoes did not come in a box, they were loose an connected with a plastic tie, She retrieved a pair of "similar" shoe and insisted that all their shoes came in boxed.
