Went here for Mother's Day brunch and had a very disappointing experience. The pre fixed menu was $175 per person and the choices were very basic... and not well executed. The website claims a decadent experience but for $800 our family of 4 got oily scrambled eggs, chewy bacon, deep fried frozen potatoes, French toast and a few shrimp cocktail. My husband did get a ribeye but it was just so-so. It was the most "decadent" thing on our table and definitely didn't justify the cost. I reached out to the manager because it's only fair to give places an opportunity to right a wrong before posting a review and his reply was condescending and less than apologetic. You could spend a quarter of the money and get really delicious food at so many other places! Such a bummer since the restaurant itself is beautiful and our server was so sweet. read more

On a most recent visit, I was disappointed with the Sunday brunch offering. The buffet is no longer, and the presentation of the dishes on the menu is truly lacking in terms of refinement which is no match for the gorgeous setting on which The Royal Palms sits on. The eggs Benedict ordered was nothing special, served on a lousy slice of turkey instead of Canadian bacon. The mountain of potatoes served on the side was atrocious to look at and would look even classier at your average diner ! All in all, with two entrees, one glass of wine and a glass of juice, our total excluding tip was $ 67 which is extremely expensive considering I didn't even finish my entree. The service was welcoming, friendly and efficient which was the saving grace! My only wish is that the Royal Palms would bring back the lovely buffet which was the star offering of the resort, or please refine the plate presentation of the dishes instead of having them look worse than your average diner offering! WARNING FOR PEANUT ALLERGIES: there are ground up peanuts in the smoothies and it is not listed on the menu as ingredient and the server just told me it was "fruit, ice, and natural sugar" in the smoothies. We all ordered one, trusting her, and when it arrived it looked thick and milky. I asked if it was dairy and she said "no, it's a protein made from scratch in our kitchen", so I had her ask what the protein is made up of... apparently they grind up peanuts in the kitchen and add to all the smoothies. This restaurant can do a MUCH better job of allergen labeling or at the very least, educating their servers. If my children (or anybody with a severe peanut allergy) had ordered one of the smoothies (I would never suspect smoothies had peanuts), they would have stopped breathing. The location is beautiful, the dining room is very nice with comfortable chairs and a gorgeous tall ceiling. The 3 of us ordered 2 brunch items (power bowl and frittata) and a regular entree (salmon) ... the salmon was the favorite. We had a private room for our family New Year's Eve. The room was great for our group, with 2 toddlers and a baby ! When we were there, we had a prefixed menu with several choices for each course. My Boo has been telling me about this place ever since we relocated to Phoenix a year ago. He said he remembered it being very nice & special so we decided to celebrate our anniversary here. One of the frustrating things about this place is not being able to talk to a live person when calling in but leaving messages. We did make our reservation on line but the day of we were running about 15 minutes late, I tried calling but got voice mail. When we walked up to the hostess stand & I explained "I'm sorry we tried to call" the hostess said absolutely nothing to us, no "Good evening" or "that's OK" or "Would you like to sit outside" NOTHING! She told the other lady at the desk where to sit us but there were plenty of tables & we requested the tables against the window with nice high back wing chairs. I did mention it would have been nice to be acknowledged & later that hostess came to our table & handed me a long stem rose & apologized. We waited & waited & waited & finally asked a waiter that walked by "Can we get a drink?" We had been there 25 minutes BEFORE a waiter came to our table! We ordered drinks & an appetizer of mussels. We got the mussels before we got the drinks! That is so BAD. Finally the mussels came & they were delicious! Some of the best we've had. They are big & juicy in a very tasty broth which is seasoned w/lamb chorizo! Served with yummy thinly sliced grilled sourdough. Next we had salads, we had the burrata & Kale Caesar, again, really tasty and refreshing. My entree choice was the rack of Lamb & Boo ordered the Branzino! Both were really good. My Lamb was a bit rarer than I prefer but I decided to take half home & savor the next day a bit more cooked. The bus boy was the most attentive of our servers & boxed up my Lamb. When he brought my To-Go bag he said "I added some extra bread & pesto sauce". Great! The Pesto is light & bright and the herbaceous Focaccia was so tasty. I put the bag next to my chair. For dessert Boo ordered the orange chocolate dessert. I had a bite & it was very good. At this time our waiter also told us our cocktails were on him since we had to wait so long for service. Ok, good idea & timely since we were getting ready to pay. I excused myself to the ladies room & when I returned noticed our to-go bag was gone! WHAT!! Turns out the guy seated at the table next to us had taken our bag. What's crazy is I had heard them take part of their dinner home as well so they left w/two bags. We were frustrated! So my fiancé took me here for valentines dinner, he's from the Valley and I am not so we always check out different restaurants around scottsdale. We did the pre fixed 4 course meal that was supposed to inciude champagne as well. We had a family emergency come up right after the apoetizers. (We shared an arugula salad and some oysters) the oysters still had sand particles inside so they were still very ocean tasting and grainy. Right after appetizers were served, my mom called and we had to rush home for a family emergency. The staff was very understanding. Boxed up our entrees and desserts and the remainder of our wine. (We never received our second course or the complimentary champagne) Flash forward to the next day, my fiancé eats his prime rib for lunch and gets food poisoning within minutes. A few hours later I try some of the desserts and the same thing happens... definitely not going to be trying the monkfish still in the refrigerator. All in all it was mildly disappointing. The staff is great, the food made both of us sick, and if we're paying $500 for dinner I shouldn't have crunchy oysters, skipped courses, or food poisoning from two separate dishes. Took my husband here for breakfast for his 40th bday. It was wonderful! It was my husband, our 2 daughters, 8 and 15 years old. We decided to do just breakfast and NOT brunch buffet Bc we do no eat a lot. Didn't feel like it was worth paying for brunch with the kids. For sure will do brunch just the 2 of us in the near future. The food was amazing. Husband had the flat iron steak, potatoes and eggs. It came with bacon as well which was phenomenal! I had the corned beef hash and eggs. Wish it had a tiny bit more beef...but that's just me. I love my meat. Our older daughter has eggs, bacon and potatoes which she enjoyed also. And our little one has pancakes that she finished which usually doesn't happen...so I guess that was bomb dot com as well. Service was wonderful! I wish I remembered our waiters name. I've been to many a brunch in my days, and T. Cook's is by far one of the best! The atmosphere is unique and sets the tone for a beautiful and intimate dining experience. We were offered a seat in the main dining area but decided to venture over to the conversational, less busy, lounge area. We found a table that had a love seat and two oversized chairs and the arrangement was simply perfect for our brunch date. We ordered a bottle of bubbly and began indulging in the buffet of foods from fresh salads, seafood and Paella, to cooked to order omelettes, pancakes and crepes. The architecture of the resort itself was alluring and kept us there a bit after we finished eating. We walked the grounds and admired the courtyard until the rain had us back inside, were we enjoyed a French 75 before departing back to the hotel. Last year we went to the Sanctuary for New Year's Eve, this year we found a table at the Royal Palms restaurant, always with a pre-fixed menu ($165/person). I have to say that overall it was a pleasant experience but still not top notch. Food was great, perhaps the aspect they took care of the most. Service was so so...not with the standards of one of the best resorts in Phoenix. Entertainment was absolutely zero. Absent. I'm a bit mad because I specifically asked to the lady I spoke to over the phone, if they had entertainment/music/fireworks...you know!! Some sort of things that reminds us it's not an ordinary dinner, it's the New Year's Eve dinner! Maybe to get us as customers she said "yes". But it wasn't true. And if we knew that, we would have looked elsewhere. Anyway, upon our arrival at the table, our waitress took quite awhile to take the order. Not biggie. But again, are we in a resort?! I'm paying a lot of money for a pre-fixed menu, I expect to be served right away. The three courses were exceptional. Artichoke bisque to die for! My bucatini with the poached egg and truffle so good! We also appreciated the lemon sorbet intermezzo. Our reservation was at 9 o'clock, and we noticed that by 10:30 or so, the night was already dying. We paid our bill, and sat outside at the fireplace with a drink. There was live music, but what we didn't know was that the music was "reserved" for a private event. I felt scammed. If you tell me that there's live music, I understand there's live music for everyone! Not just because there was a private event already booked. That's not right. Thankfully the band that was playing did the countdown at midnight. Otherwise not even the countdown was included. No fireworks. Nothing special. Definitely not coming back for New Year's Eve dinner. What I'm saying is: if I pay a lot of money for a menu just because it's New Year's Eve, why can't you include some sort of entertainment? I would have paid even more than $165/person (that with the wine, gratuity, taxes, tip and tap ended up being a $600 bill), but please include some sort of a sparkling atmosphere. Waitress seemed she was making a huge effort to bring us some "party favors". Again, food was a 10/10 Service 6/10 Entertainment and quality/price 3/10. I give four stars out of five just because I know that in other occasions, like Sunday brunch, here it's fantastic. read more

But, this restaurant does not try to make it self classy by leaning on the beauty of the resort and natural surroundings. The restaurant itself is warm, classy but not stuffy at all, with high ceilings, beautiful fixtures and lighting, warm woods, spacious, soft, somehow modern yet with classic warmth and style, tables are beautifully set with quality components and everything you need is at your fingertips, it's extremely comfortable. Heavy wood chairs with soft padded seating, super comfortable to stay for hours and relax. Service: The server and assistants ensure you have everything you need here. They are knowledgeable and prompt without hovering. Such a great feeling to experience wait staff that seems genuinely interested in your comfort and experience. Everyone working here was clearly happy to assist, even if they weren't "assigned" to your table. Extremely service oriented. Excellent! Food: outstanding! The four of us all thoroughly enjoyed our appetizers, the delicious bread they serve while you wait for your entrées, and our entrées themselves, as well as the adult beverages. Every detail of every morsel was prepared with high-quality ingredients and a chefs touch. All foods were well balanced, flavorful and seasoned perfectly. Served at just the right temperature, without long waits and with solid, high quality,, comfortable, flatware, silverware, and glass. Appetizers, meals and even the drinks are plentiful and delicious. The entire "food experience" was excellent. Value: in my opinion, your truly eating at a five-star restaurant, with outstanding, chef prepared meals, served by staff who are mature, knowledgeable, friendly and attentive, in an environment that is warm and comfortable and inviting. It's hard to beat for the appropriate prices, which are reasonable for the excellent experience, quality and quantity. There was one thing I really didn't like and it started off our experience with an uncomfortable bump, it was the valet and parking situation. I fault the resort for this more so than the restaurant. I was driving a high horse power convertible sports car that night and prefer not to let valets drive it (scary flashbacks of Ferris Bueller's Day Off), so I asked to self park. Once I did, the valets fake friendly, interested demeanor immediately changed to being dismissive, uncaring, "Oh, I'm not going to make a few bucks off of you and I can't drive your nice car? Then I could care less!!" I found myself cramming my nice car into a small spot in a very, very small, dark parking lot with no more than 15 or 20 spots. In hindsight, I should have parked between the palm trees around the traffic circle in front of the restaurant like I noticed others had done when we left. This was not a good start to our experience at the location. Again, I'm choosing not to fault the restaurant for the parking situation at the resort. I highly recommend T Cooks for all reasons stated above. Honestly, I can't wait to go back, it's one of my new favorite places. My only regret is that I didn't find this place is much, much sooner. read more

Throughout the past 25 years my wife and I have celebrated many life events at T. Cook's and had never been disappointed. Until now. My wife and I booked a room at the Royal Palms Resort for our 25th anniversary, including dinner at T. Cook's. We decided to have two close friends join us for dinner. We were excited to introduce Julie and Mike to one of our special places. Now, I recognize that lots has changed due to COVID-19, but our experience last night was truly disappointing. Cocktails were ordered 10 minutes after we were seated, but we spent 20 minutes waiting for them to come out. Drinks in hand, we ordered our formerly favorite Lobster Bisque. It was NOTHING like it had been in the past. The soup was fishy, has no lobster meat in it, and tasted less like bisque and more like dead fish. Additionally, we ordered the Grilled Octopus appetizer. Meanwhile our server asked if we wanted to order wine with dinner, we did. She said she'd be back to take our wine order. Dinner arrived at our table, but our server was nowhere to be found, neither was our octopus appetizer. They forgot it. The portions were petit at best. There was nothing remarkable about any of our meal, except for the fact that there were enough servers for the size of the dinner crowd, but ours was nowhere to be found. We started eating dinner. Our server showed up and we finally got to order our wine. It arrived halfway through our meal. We would have ordered a second bottle, but it came so late, we still had half of a bottle left when we finished. A little later came our dessert order, 1 creme brûlée's, a 2 chocolate cakes. They delivered 2 creme brûlée's and 1 chocolate cake. So they went back and grabbed another chocolate cake. The creme brûlée was terrible. The top was caramelized perfectly, but the rest of the desert was awful, the texture was firm like tofu, not creamy like a custard. The chocolate cake was sandy, almost dry and gritty. We retired to our room for the night and hoped that our Sunday breakfast would make up for Saturday night's dinner. We arrived on the patio shortly after 9AM and met our friends for breakfast. They were seated before we arrived and had ordered some muffins and fruit for the table. Mike was hungry and asked to order as soon as we arrived. The restaurant was not overly busy, but as we were drinking our coffee and waiting to order, a large party arrived on the patio, perhaps 10 people. Within a few minutes they placed their order. Meanwhile, we couldn't find anyone to take ours. We asked a bus person to find our server as we needed more drinks and were ready to order. A few minutes passed until our server arrived and our order was placed. A full 45 minutes passed before we found another bus person to hunt down our food. The large party not only had all their food, they were finished with their meal before we saw anyone. The manager came out and said our food would be right up. It eventually arrived and we finished breakfast at 11:15. Between a $500 dinner and a crappy breakfast that was included in our room fee, we spent almost $1,000 bucks at Royal Palms this weekend. It's $1,000 bucks wasted, in my opinion. If I could get a do-over I would, somewhere else. read more

We have had a handful of wonderful experiences here. Thankfully, this time we did not bring clients. The rude haggard "hostess" with a offensively short loose t-shirt dress (but over 55yrs) was less than appetizing. Following covid, the experience should be on point.. extra efforts made, but instead, the "Hostess" was militant about paper Masks (although no other customers had masks). I cannot wear one, however pulling my shirt over my face apparently made me "safe" until I reached the magic square of my table. She vengefully sat us by the kitchen door & Our server made an effort to be helpful. Unfortunately the wine was terrible- (had to reorder which I've only done twice in my life), my husband's short ribs were bland pot roast (so we traded), the creme brûlée was rubbery and hard... love spending $400+ to have an inappropriately dressed hostess act like an "enforcer" on a power trip ... incidentally "masks" are the only mandate she intended to "enforce".. (there were people carrying firearms in the restaurant, which is not allowed apparently).. but "masks enforcement" for the 15ft walk towards a table is of the highest priority. Then we received a few extra snide comments followed by a sub par anniversary dinner. All our other anniversaries in years past included some rose petals on on the table and a sweet message in chocolate on our dessert plate- nothing this year. Overall, the most underwhelming dinner experience we have had at The Royal Palms. Not sure how you'll earn our business back, there are so many other excellent choices in the valley. read more

Recently stayed at The Royal Palms and decided on making breakfast the main meal of each day at T.Cooks. I ate alone but no one made it too awkward for me. The service day 1 was fabulous, day 2 was ok. Most importantly the food- top notch options. Granted I typically wouldn't pay $14 for a piece of toast with avocado but I was all about trying as much as I could. My favorite was the Mediterranean Eggs Benedict, I'd say it was the best option on the breakfast menu and absolutely scrumptious! The fresh squeezed juices were also delightful and a good non caffeinated or alcoholic option. The decor was beautiful and service was quick. If you're ever in the area, check it out. It's been a few years since I last dined at T. Cook's. I love this place. From the moment that you pull into the Royal Palms driveway you know you are in for a special treat. The old world Tuscan design is charming and romantic. The food is great, the service is detailed oriented and not over done. The menu is simple and well crafted. The wine list has a few gems and is reasonably priced. The lamb was great, and if you like grilled octopus you'll like their take on the classic dish. I would say a 4.5 would be a fair statement to make. The Royal Palms is a beautiful resort with a rich history; However! Certain things need to be slightly updated (the spa and the villas) stay tuned for my resort review. The ambiance in T Cook's probably has received the most TLC as it is a renowned restaurant but we have a tiny bit more to do with the interior (not a full on facelift but maybe a small tuck) I understand the history of the resort so I am not suggesting an industrial theme like wall to wall steel and cement floors but little things can make a difference. BRUNCH! Started with the Maine diver scallops, so fresh with bacon bits and spinach. It came with a carrot ginger purée, I am not a fan of carrots but the hint of ginger complimented it nicely. We ordered the fresh berries and the vanilla yogurt, the berries were so fresh and visually stimulating and the yogurt was the best I've ever had (he agreed as well) Huevos Rancheros delicious! Probably the freshest Avocado I have ever had, the corn tortilla perfectly crispy. ONLY CON: My over easy egg was perfect when I cut into it, oozing just as it should, my friend said his egg while delicious was slightly over cooked. My complaint is the time it took to get our food. 7:30 reservation and we didn't get our main course until 9:15, 1hr 45 minutes shows that they were over booked for what they can handle. Honestly the best brunch in the valley. The Hostess was a complete sweetheart, very friendly and helpful. We went right before Christmas, and got to see the great wine cork decorations she's made. Our waiter was also really good. We've been twice and both times had great service - the second time they were super busy, but we still had good service. The buffet has normal breakfast offerings, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. But my favorite part of it was the seafood! Fresh oysters, shrimp and mussels and crab legs. So good. They also have a very nice salad bar, with all kinds of things on it. Then there is a small dessert buffet (which I honestly avoided so I can't even tell you what it's like.) On top of the buffet, you get a breakfast Entree. I had to take mine home with me...I was too full of seafood to eat it! I had the breakfast burger, and it was really tasty. Very good beef, prepared exactly right. My husband had the Chioppino, which was very good, super flavorful. Take my advice and order your entree to go...and enjoy the buffet! read more

The restaurant couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating to our family. We scheduled the private dining room given we had three young children. We had attentive service and excellent food for Christmas Eve. If there was something not 5 stars it was probably the desserts, however overall with a full table of many different dishes we all left very satisfied and in holiday cheer! Similar situation with recent reviews. Food came out within minutes of ordering. The food must have been pre cooked and sitting around. Someone in my party got very ill from eating the food. Place was pretty, service was good but they have real issues in the kitchen. read more
