It was a solid breakfast. I think the friendly server made the difference from 3 to 4 star. I thought what we ordered came out in a timely fashion, and felt fresh. I appreciate that they offer fruit plate vs bowl pf berries. Personally have a strong g dislike for melon and it ruins it for me so that would be a non starter. After my weekend I needed fruit. The smoothie wasn't very sweet, but felt like my body needed every nutrient offered. Wasn't a huge fan of the omlette, seemed like carton eggs. However surprised that I liked the chicken sausage and mushrooms. They didn't skimp out on those. I'll be back for more smoothies and to explore new items on the menu.
Went on a Monday for my boyfriend and my anniversary! We didn't expect it to be busy but there was also an insane storm so there were only two other couples seated inside, fun little private dining experience! There are no booths but we got sat at a table with super high back chairs and they had nice cushions and the chairs were next to each other which was cute. There were rose petals on the table which was a very nice touch!! We immediately were served water! Our server was very nice and recommended good wines (we got the red blend, quite delicious)! She let us enjoy ourselves and didn't rush our ordering. She also was very knowledgeable about the menu. I got the elote rigatoni with gluten free pasta and it was so good!! Tender with the perfect bite. The sauces are made to order so it was extra fresh and it was steaming hot. This is such a unique dish, I loved the sweet from the corn and the tang from the cheese and some heat from the chili crisp! My boyfriend got the beef ribeye because it was the most filling and he very much enjoyed every piece of the juicy and tender meat with the perfectly cooked asparagus and silky mashed potatoes. We were served a gluten free chocolate silk pie for our anniversary on the house - so nice and sooo delicious. My boyfriend isn't a sweet guy but he ate his half with a huge smile on his face. What a wonderful celebration with tasty food!
Came here for an anniversary dinner. The vibes were great - obviously the outdoor/fountain area is just beautiful, and everything was so nicely decorated for Christmas. Our server was fantastic- knowledgeable, funny, and accommodating. Food was also good. I loved the green goddess Caesar. Cons were that service could be slow; it took a long time for both our drinks and our food to come out. I specifically asked for blue-cheese stuffed olives but the olives that came in my martini tasted more like they were stuffed with ricotta. A nice place for a date night, but you're paying more for ambiance than for service or food.
What didn't go well tonight in a wonderful patio Arizona evening. I just love the Royal Palm vibe and the quiet elegance of this fine dining reataurant. Sat outside in the patio with a nice lit fireplace as the temp was unusually chilly for Scottsdale this time of year. Enjoyed a three course meal beginning with corn chowder and iceberg wedge. Both fantastically fresh and delish! We then moved on to the cherry covered pork chop and rib eye. Both cuts of meat were very tender and cooked perfectly. Dusted with fresh veggies and sauces that were perfectly seasoned. Onto dessert we wound up taking it away and enjoying f it for breakfast the next day. What a great decision as they were so scrumptious with a great cup of coffe in the am. We enjoyed walking the property, having a pre dinner drink in the cozy bar. Just lovely! The wait staff, the ambiance, the food. All 5 star! Highly recommend and will be back.
T Cook's is located in the Royal Palms hotel which is such a beautiful boutique hotel in Phoenix. The restaurant is also beautiful and elegant. Our server was great and she said everything on the menu was good. I started with a delicious drink called the Influencer with vodka, passion fruit, vanilla bean, and a champagne sidecar. We tried the Spanish octopus and Caesar salad which were very tasty. I also worry about ordering octopus because it can be overcooked or chewy, but this was cooked just right. The lamb pops were flavorful but I thought the lamb was too fatty. For our main dishes, the steak was cooked well but a bit dry and could use some additional flavor. I liked the rigatoni, which is house made, although it was a bit spicy. I didn't finish it so I took it home and strangely the next day the meat smelled and tasted funny so I had to toss it. That was disappointing considering how much I paid for it. Dessert was tasty. Everything on the menu sounded good but we settled for the gelato and cookies and pistachio chocolate bar (is it supposed to be the viral Dubai chocolate?? That's what my kids thought it was!) The presentation was wonderful. Overall it was a good experience. Food is pricey but it's a nice place and the food is generally good, just disappointed about my pasta. Next time I'll try a different one.
For our anniversary this year, my wife and I enjoyed a stay at the Royal Palms Resort where we enjoyed two delicious breakfasts at T Cook's along with a wonderful dinner to celebrate. For the dinner, we arrived to a decorated table with rose petals in the shape of a heart, which was a thoughtful gesture when they knew we were celebrating our anniversary. I ordered a tasty steak dish with corn, potatoes, and sauce, all which complemented each other greatly. I would certainly order this again though the menu has changed and new steak dishes are being offered. My wife ordered a salmon dish with sauce, greens, and potatoes, which she really enjoyed. Also offered on the menu are some incredible desserts which now include maple bread pudding, chocolate peanut butter parfait, poire noisette, royal tiramisu palms sundae, limoncello creme brulee, and house made gelato and cookies. For our anniversary, we received a complimentary special chocolate cake with a special message in chocolate sauce. For our breakfasts, we had the choice of lighter brunch options, many breakfast entrees, soups, salads, sandwiches, and lunch entrees. For both days, my wife ordered an omelette while I had a breakfast burrito while we both ordered juices and shared a fruit plate. Many hotel reservations using the Hyatt Priveé, American Express's Fine Hotels + Resorts, and Hyatt Globalist programs include complimentary breakfast for two. We made reservations for breakfast and dinner using Open Table, which recently awarded T Cook's with the Open Table Diner's Choice 2024 award. There are indoor and outdoor dining options. Brunch is served daily from 6:30 AM to 1:30 PM while dinner is served daily from 5:30 PM to 9 PM (though on Fridays and Saturdays, it closes a half hour later at 9:30 PM). A fun thing to notice is that the dining room has the original Royal Palms trees right there which go right through the roof. There is also a nice, outdoor patio. We also learned that T Cook's supports the Mix Up Bar, which offers mixology classes and also the Cabana Cafe by the pool. Cabana Cafe includes shared plates, salads, entrees, kids' meals, cocktails, and other drinks. I'll write a separate review for the Mix Up Bar later, which was also a favorite spot of ours on our visit.
We came here to eat after looking at Royal Palms for a wedding venue. The service was quick other than initially waiting for a staff member to sit us. The mimosa flight as pictured is full glasses and very delicious. I got the breakfast sandwich which sounds plain but was absolutely delicious as it was flavored with jam and thick bacon. I would definitely go back to try so much more.
Staying at the Royal Palms and decided to dine at T Cooks . What a beautiful restaurant and we were greeted warmly. Nice table and excellent server. Good and wine were wonderful. I will look forward to returning soon. I think the winter will be wonderful with the fire going!!
We enjoyed dinner here as we were staying at the resort and I loved the room and decor. The cocktail menu has many options and I opted for the orange grove which was similar to a spicy margarita but less sweet. We shared the spring pasta and the salmon. The salmon was delicious, as was the pasta which was a large serving. It was a bit rich for a "spring" pasta and may fare better with a different pasta shape than spaghetti. We were too full for dessert but the options looked delightful.
Got the chicken piccata and it was delicious. The dining room has some palm trees inside and it's honestly my favorite part. Salads and desserts were good. Our server was fine, nothing to write home about but maybe they were short-staffed? No issues just not as warm as I'd expect for a finer dining establishment.
We are staying at the Royal Palms hotel over the holiday as our grandkids are here visiting and we have had the opportunity to have breakfast here during our stay. We are our daughters guest of honor as a globalist, so breakfast is included each day. I have had both the avocado toast and the spinach and sun-dried tomato tomato quiche and they are beyond fantastic. No boring breakfast foods here. My husband has had two egg breakfast and this morning he had the eggs Benedict And both were fantastic. Their potatoes are absolutely perfect crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. The service is impeccable, your coffee cup will never be empty and it is a peaceful ambience early in the morning. They do bring you a Nutella filled beignet, little mini ones to have with your coffee. How special is that? Highly recommend, especially if you have benefits, as it is quite pricey, if you do not!
I was in search of a place that offered a nice outdoor patio where we could celebrate my mother's birthday. Brunch at T. Cook's fit the bill because it wasn't a buffet - you could order individual breakfast or lunch entrees and the ambiance is beautiful. As you would expect at a fancy resort like the Royal Palms, service is wonderful. Our server made us very comfortable and was attentive. Everyone else in our party of six enjoyed their entrees. Unfortunately, I was the only one who was disappointed. I ordered the turkey sandwich and was let down in a few areas. The bread is listed as housemade peasant bread. It's really too thick and bulky for the sandwich, overwhelming it and falling apart. The turkey was a generous portion but I found the flavor to have an odd aftertaste to it. I didn't want to keep eating it, it was so off-putting. I really should have mentioned it to our server as I'm sure he would have made things right. However, I knew the table would have to wait longer for me while they brought a new entree. (That's on me.) T. Cook's is a lovely restaurant located up against Camelback Mt. in the Royal Palms resort. It's a really great place to soak in the Arizona atmosphere. I'd be willing to go back and hope my disappointing turkey sandwich was just a fluke.

I stayed at the hotel by the restaurant for a 5 days work conference. I had almost all my meals at this restaurant. I love how elegant it looks and how amicable the staff is. The food is the delicious and they will make sure you are happy with your meal. My favorite: best benedict i ve tried, mimosas for lunch time were just perfect. read more

Came for our 15th anniversary! I LOVE their in-house ginger beer. It is a-ma-zing! The food was delicious as well! I highly recommend the crab fried rice while it is available. So good! The young man working valet even waited in the rain to open my car door since my husband was pulling the car around and it was pouring. He deserves some massive kudos and accolades for that! read more
I was visiting family while in town and they suggested we go here for one of my last nights before heading back home. I was definitely not disappointed of their suggestion because this restaurant really delivered and the meal was delicious. It has a nice southwestern motif on the inside and a slow pace to it but at the same time being upscale. I chose the bone marrow and escargot to start (bone marrow is one of my top favs) and it was velvety smooth and delicious. I then followed up with their house specialty the paella. I have been to Spain more than once and ate paella each day each time I was there as well as all over the United States and this ranks as some of the best I've ever had in the United States. Incredible breakfast/brunch! I try to stay away from ordering Avocado Toast when I go out for brunch, but I just had to have it here, and I had absolutely no regret. The Avocado Toast here was one of the best I've ever had! The toast was packed with flavor from plenty of avocado, fluffy scrambled eggs, tomatoes, burrata, and greens - truly perfectly delicious! The bowl of fresh berries and fresh fruits were truly fresh and delicious. I loved that the fresh fruits included dragonfruit, which is rare to see! The Greek yogurt with berries is equally delicious, with all the same fresh berries from the Bowl of Berries with the Greek yogurt to add more flavor and to fill up your stomach a little more. I really appreciated that this restaurant uses Greek yogurt instead of regular / sweetened yogurt like many other restaurants. The entire meal felt very healthy and light while keeping us full, which I was happy about! Oh, the two eggs any style was definitely a filling meal, which is perfect for a day full of hikes. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I never got to try the dinner here, but I bet the dinner is incredible! read more

Fourth or fifth time to T Cooks last night and this restaurant never disappoints us. Great for a special night out. My wife and I took three friends and everyone was thrilled with everything, from the cocktails, gem lettuce salad, beet salad, bread and entrees. Three had the scallop pasta, one had the short rib, and I had the pork Osso Bucco - each delicious and a generous serving. But the pork belly appetizer I had was the highlight for me.. And the Acadia Orange Cake was so beautiful and delicious - it was a showstopper! (The other two desserts were very nice as well.) read more

This is one of our favorite spots in town. 3 reasons: great food, outstanding customer service & beautiful romantic atmosphere.We've done several dinners including their Via Cappello (intimate lovers) dinners. If you want to impress that special someone, splurge for the Via Cappello where you'll get special corner just for the 2 of you. Food - always cooked to perfection. My fave is their Spanish Octopus. Hubby usually goes for their steak. Never had a bad meal so I don't think you can go wrong with any of the dish. Bourbon lovers - they have great selection of bourbons at fairly reasonable price, including some of the unicorns. Trust, my husband selects his restaurant based on their bourbon menu! I want to do special shout out to their staffs who always take good care of us. Sasha is our fave! I planned a special 'we are pregnant dinner' for the hubby and it couldn't turn out any better. Our waiter was excited for us and my husband ended up hugging him first before me!! Lol .....that's just to show you how passionate their staffs are. Atmosphere - there's not many other places that scream ROMANCE like the Royal Palms. read more

A friend and I visited on a calm Friday evening. I arrived 15 minutes early and grabbed seats in the lounge area. It took a long while for someone to service me. I'm passing, a guy asked if someone had helped me. I stated no, but i was waiting on someone, so no biggy. He stated that he would grab drink menus and let a waitress know that I was ready to order. I asked for water as well. He returned promptly with the menus and waters, then stated that someone would be over soon. A young lady arrived a short time later and took my drink order; a cocktail. A longer period lapsed, no drink or waitress. My friend arrived. The first guy returned and asked if anyone had taken our order, I stated yes for me, but advised that my friend wanted a glass of wine. The guy noted the kind of wine and left. A short period later, he was back with three drinks- two cocktails and a glass of wine. He asked me if I ordered 2 drinks. I stated no, only one. The waitress came around for a well-check. We inquired about music and was advised that it would start soon in the bar area. We asked if we could move into the bar area. She accommodated with ease. The one-man band turned out to be amazing! The lighting was a bit bright. When asked if the lights could be dimmed, staff stated that normally they are, but the incorrect bulbs were installed and there was no way to dim them. Bummer. We ordered the charcuterie board, hummus, burrata, and a couple more drinks. It was all delicious! We drank, ate, danced, and enjoyed the music. Valet parking. Beautiful grounds! read more

T Cook's....boy do u know how to make a customer feel special! Took my fiancé here for his birthday & we totally got the royal treatment! See pic below of his Royal Highness in his royal chair! Our meal was definitely good, but not the best ever. The wagyu beef hot stone was delicious and sinfully worth trying, but u pay a steep price of $23 for 3-4 very thinly cut small slices of beef. The lobster bisque was ok. It was a little on the salty side, so I ate the very small amount of lobster in it and left the rest of the soup for a happy drain somewhere. My branzino wasn't as flavorful as some of the fish I've had during my recent trip to Asia. I had a little piece of my fiancé's beef short rib and didn't particularly like the sweet flavor of the rib, but the rib was cooked to perfection! For our sides, the sauteed forest mushrooms were a hit, but the brussel sprouts were stale & just boring. God, I'm becoming one of THOSE critics! Forgive me!! My 4 star rating is mostly influenced by our exceptional service and T Cook's staff going above and beyond to fulfill a young man's dream of having his favorite bread pudding dessert brush the sides of his lips, then move towards the entirety of those soft luscious lips to end in a voracious gulp of pure bread pudding bliss! My fiancé didn't think he could ever enjoy bread pudding again, after being diagnosed with Celiac's, but T Cook's delivered a gluten-free bread pudding fitting of his royal Highness! Hats off to T Cook's chef and staff for making us feel like royalty!!! read more

Valet was frustrating: Upon arriving there was no one at the valet. after sitting there for a minute I started driving around to the back where I saw the only parking lot with "Valet Only". Right when i saw the sign, a young man appeared and pointed me to the back of the parking lot and said to park over there. When parked, he directed me back to the front where I was waiting for the valet to begin with...so what is the point of the valet? When I left he couldn't figure out how to start my truck (no idea why). He handed me my keys and said sorry.. i paid him anyways. Food - I was excited about seeing what looked delicious on their Yelp Octopus. The picture I saw had two large portions. When it came out it was one very small piece cut into two, the one side that was the tip was burnt to a crisp and even the thicker side was no bigger then a dime around. Very disapointed but with the way things are now i let it slide and was excited for my main course. The server recommended braised short ribs, pork chop, and lamb chops. I told him I was very hungry for some protein and asked what the biggest piece of meat was. He looked a little concerned and told me to order the pork chop al la cart and to get a side if i was very hungry. When it came out, the pork chop was pretty good, but no larger than 9OZ. I don't care about price as much as I do quality and portions. This is not the place for me. I had to fill up on an entire side of mashed potatoes. Wine list was good at least. Server was good too. Beautiful views. Overall I was pretty let down at what they had to offer and how it all came out. I can spend the same amount and get something truly special somewhere else. I just was not WOW'd. Such a fantastic dinner, beginning to end! We were celebrating my daughter's birthday, and this is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. The mussels were my least favorite, the sausage and broth were fantastic; but some of the mussels were undercooked. Next the entrees. I ordered the lamp chops, which were cooked perfectly and we so delicious! I can't remember what the puree was, but OMG it was so tasty. Loved the dash of tang from the pomegranate seeds. So, so good! I snuck a taste of my daughters dishes too. The striped bass was fish perfection! The Mediterranean Paella was also really good. Finally, they brought my daughter a really great dessert sampler. This place is not cheap, but great for a special event. read more

While I agree T Cooks is a place we all grew up with, coming with our parents and kids. I wonder do we still come here out of nostalgia? Or because we truly think this is a place better than any other in Scottsdale. While the food and service is still amazing, frankly the place is feeling 'old'. The furniture the patios, bar areas are all a bit worn. Could a renovation reinvigorate this place? Absolutely!!! Could they go on to serve the next generation? Might be a good idea to update a bit. A fresh coat of paint won't cost too much. read more

Food was good but not knock your socks off. The price was a bit high for the quality and the service. We had a tough time getting plates cleared and coffee refills. Overall the food was pretty good. The buffet had a great selection of smoked salmon, fruits, cheese, meats, pastries, shrimp cocktail, and the best part was the crab claws (no warm butter). You get access to the cold buffet, an entry from the menu, and dessert buffet. Lots of options and a beautiful resort. If you are looking for a romantic brunch spot this will definitely meet the expectation. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat this is not your place. read more

Not the T. Cook's people expect. Staff was friendly enough, but never cleared anything unless we asked. Brought out dinner, but didn't take the empty appetizer plates from the middle of the table. The food was meh. Salads and appetizers were good, steaks were rubbery and fatty, paella was oily and had empty shells and literally 1 piece of chicken and 1 chorizo in the whole thing. Restaurant was dirty, especially bathrooms. Wet dirt on the floors, toilet paper on the floor and no towels of any kind to dry your hands. 2 baskets of over flowing used towels under the sink. I don't want to go too hard because it's probably difficult to keep staff right now, but a little bit of noticing could go a long way. read more
Since my last review the menu and chef has changed. T Cooks is an upscale Mediterranean Restaurant located at the Royal Palms in Phoenix. This once was a winter vacation home of a wealthy New York Person and now it's a beautiful Spanish Style Resort and Spa with T Cooks Restaurant. The dining room is very dramatic with high ceilings and very mature palm trees growing threw the dining room. They start everyone off with tasty rosemary focaccia and fresh pesto. It was restaurant week fall 2018 3 courses for $44.00 so we ordered off that menu. I started with Moroccan Spiced Carrot Soup. It had delicious warm flavors, a rich mouth feel and pops of sweet raisin in it but was painfully salt forward to me. I did tell my server and he insisted on having the kitchen fix the soup. He took it back and they watered it down and when he brought it back it indeed was less salty. (*****this is highly unusual) My husband had the Butternut Squash Agnolotti. They were very similar to ravioli with nice well made thin pasta skins. They were generously stuffed with sweet seasoned butternut squash. They were described to be in a sage brown butter sauce but if you take the time to view my photo it's more like they were in a parsley melted butter sauce.....This dish ran on the sweet side. For me and my husband our favorite bite of the evening was the Pan Seared Glacier Sea Bass. The fish was very fresh and was cooked to perfection. The beet/bean puree and almonds were tasty. The Tomatoes were very salt forward. The Petite Filet my husband had did have nice grill marks and was also prepared to his request (M/R) but lacked salt and pepper. White Cheddar Grits with Bacon wrapped haricots verts were excellent. Of the two desserts one we loved and one we didn't. The Butter Croissant Bread Pudding was heavy and very dense. I didn't care for the flavors either. The Crema Catalana had a nice not burnt tasting thin hard shell and contained cream that was smooth and DELICIOUS with a sort of bitter kind of orange taste. Wow. Just wow. I've traveled around the world and dined in world-renowned places such as the French Laundry, but I have to say T.Cooks is now at the top of my list for favorite restaurants. Every single dish my wife and I tried were exquisite. Items were beautifully prepared and things tasted even better than they looked. This was the first time I can recall having octopus that didn't taste like fried calamari. It was perfectly marinated and cooked to create the most wonderful texture and flavor. Will never have octopus again without comparing it to T.Cooks. On top of that, the mussels, lamb, paella, and desserts were all absolutely wonderful. And that pesto with bread at the beginning? Don't get me started Oh, and bfast the following day was just as good! Whatever those special donut holes were (off menu), please add them to the menu, or continue offering them in some form. Truly the best donut to have ever graced my mouth. Without a doubt, we'll be back, and will tell our friends to stop by. read more

T Cook's was such a fun experience. I have to say, the star of the show was the pesto + focaccia that is served prior to each meal. So good, so different. The dining room set up lacks the privacy and intimacy that I would expect from a meal this pricey. The starter salads we had were well dressed and delicious. I would definitely recommend any of them as a starter course. I had the bolognese, which was average at best. It lacked the deep flavor and sauciness i was craving. The ricotta really elevated the dish. The lamb chops were tender and flavorful. Would definitely order again. Overall, I would absolutely dine here again, and recommend it to others. I was most impressed by our excellent service by the entire staff. read more

What a great experience. First of all, the property is beautiful and everyone from the valet to the hostess to the server was incredibly nice and professional. We started with the CORN BISQUE (Freeze dried corn | creme fraiche | chive) and BABY GREENS (crow's dairy feta | compressed watermelon | persian cucumber | sunflower seed | honey lemon vinaigrette). One of the major sins that restaurants commit is serving soup that is lukewarm. Not here - the soup was piping hot and delicious. The dried corn was a little odd, but that was the chef's choice. The salad was also delicious - the honey lemon vinaigrette had a nice sweet and sour thing going. Excited, we continued to the main course. We started with the SKUNA BAY SALMON (Lemon buerre blanc | corn | scallion | garlic parmesan potatoes | red bell pepper | chimichurri | pea greens) and PASTA ALLA GENOVESE (Rigatoni | short rib & bone marrow ragu | white wine | pecorino). The salmon was perfectly cooked and the parmesan potatoes were delicious. The rigatoni were clearly homemade and considerably longer than a traditional rigatoni. It didn't have a heavy sauce, relying on the deliciousness of the short ribs. While incredibly rich, it was delicious. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert, but they sounded delicious. read more

This review is for brunch...4 1/2 stars for sure! We were among a small group seated outside on a beautiful Sunday morning. Brunch is a set $46 per person. You're paying for quality and quantity. You are presented with a menu from which to pick an appetizer and an entree. In addition, there's a small buffet that includes excellent shrimp cocktail, crab claws (my fave!), caesar salad, marvelous cheeses, pastries (I loved the blueberry), fresh fruit including an assortment of berries and pineapple, and other items. And the price also includes two mimosas and coffee or tea. The most intriguing part of the menu imho are the tapas: Beef Tartare, Mushroom Crepe, Foie Gras w/French Toast, Hummus. All of which our table got. There was also a Tomato Bruschetta option. I must admit I was disappointed in the Tartare. It really needed some acid or something to brighten it up. The Hummus was delicious but way too much for one person. Foie Gras was very rich. I'm not sure I'd call the bread that was with it French Toast, but that and the berries were a nice balance to the liver. Husband really liked his mushroom crepe. As for the entrees, we had our choice of Grilled Smoked Ham Steak with Eggs, Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes, Spanish Chorizo Benedict, Paella, Fried Chicken, Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Chimichurri and Fries, Eggs & Pupusa, Scallops, or Sea Bass. I headed straight for the Scallops while Husband did the Steak. Both of our entrees were really good. Loved my perfectly seared scallops with cannellini bean puree, carrot and bacon. Mmmm! Husband was happy with his steak and fries as well, but it has to be the first time I've ever seen him waste a lot. It was just too much. If you make it to dessert (and I suggest you do), they are thankfully small. We shared a teeny lemon meringue tart, and a key lime dessert. There were also chocolate and raspberry desserts. Service was entertaining and enthusiastic, which I really like. Husband was kept topped up with coffee, but I never got a re-fill on my excellent iced tea. If you live in the area and can take home some of what you can't eat (if they allow it), it would sure make me feel better, because I hate to waste food! With the buffet part, we can control what we choose and only pick what we can eat, but when presented with the appetizer and entree in large portions, it can lead to too much waste, imho. Solid spot for a hotel restaurant. We stayed at Royal palm and ate several lunches here. After monsoon rain, the flies and mosquitoes are rampant which makes outside seating pretty impossible. I sat inside for most of the meals where occasional mosquitoes and flies will still do a fly by. BETTER DISHES: sea bass tacos - fresh fish. Best to ask for some salsa to put on these tacos for extra flavor. Corn chowder - creamy but not heavy. A cup is the perfect size. Hummus with flatbread- great starter for sharing. The garlic inside the hummus gives an extra kick. Served with Warm toasted pita bread. SKIP: farmhouse omelette- typical. Large portion. So so. Tomato and burrata with greens - the greens were ok. We ate at T Cooks as part of a Royal Palms staycation package. We had both breakfast and dinner. The interior is really beautiful in the mission style with dark woods, iron chandeliers, earth tones, but contemporary vibes from the sleek wine fridge and tile work. We were seated in the middle of the dining room. For better views, request a table at the back of the space. Our server, who was very knowledgeable of the food and wine menu offered great advice--the menu used to be more Mediterranean and those dishes are still the highlights. I ordered the tomato and burrata salad and the scallops as a main course. The burrata was amazing--much more authentic than what one usually gets in the states. The chef made me a dinner portion of the scallops, which are usually an appetizer. I was served four perfectly seared scallops served on sautéed spinach and forbidden rice. It was to die for. Best thing I've eaten in years. It was also too rich for me for a main course--I should have stuck with the appetizer portion (two scallops) but I have no regrets. My partner ordered off the two course summer menu ($38) and got the corn chowder and oven roasted chicken. His dishes were much more rustic than mine but no less delicious. I would have devoured his soup if he'd have let me. We were also brought pesto and rosemary focaccia before the meal and it was delicious. On the downside, we sat for close to 15 minutes before our server got to us--I think there might have been a mix up on whose table we were. I also found the service a little on the chatty side, but it was friendly so no real complaints there. I was less impressed with breakfast. We ordered lattes and a sticky bun, the Mediterranean Benedict and the avocado toast. The coffee was great--served with raw sugar lumps and biscotti. Our server also brought coffee cake muffins. The sticky bun was heaven. My eggs were cooked perfectly, but were served over left over focaccia. I felt like the rosemary from the bread overpowered the flavors in the hollandaise and don't mesh well with the smoked salmon. My partner had similar blah feelings about his avocado toast--it wasn't great. Dinner was worth making a return trip. T Cook's is too pricey for a regular stop for us, but as a treat it is great. read more
