Asian Star is a casual spot for Chinese takeout/delivery....And, hands down one of the best in the…read moreFt. Washington area! Just my luck. I happen to stop here before heading back to DC for lunch. I was craving Chinese carryout .... Something quick and simple ....like Chicken Waangs & Mumbo sauce. Yes, don't judge...Lol. This is something you know you can just about find a dime or dozen...on every block at various carryouts in DC, but I noticed that Chinese carryouts are definitely far and few in the Fort Washington area. So...Thank goodness I found this place before heading back home. It is located in a shopping center off of Route 210 & Old Ft Road. Although, not much to look at on the outside or inside, this place is legit. The food is the bomb and hellacious!! I walked in and was greeted by a lady behind a plexiglass counter and asked if they had "Waangs and Mumbo Sauce" of course they did not. I almost started to turn away and leave, but so glad I didn't. Instead, I asked about popular dishes that they were known for and she mentioned the salt and pepper shrimp was popular, the egg foo young, and typical dishes like chicken with broccoli and combo lo mein. So I decided to order the salt and pepper shrimp, combination, egg, foo, young and a general Tso chicken. The order was prepared relatively fast and well packed for my long drive back to DC. WELL....Let me just say this right now..... I knew the food was going to be bangin' (good) just from the smells alone coming from the bag before I even left the store. The smells and aroma of garlic, salt, spices, gravy and peppers....were screaming through the bag! I couldn't wait to get home. Each dish was well prepared, fresh and super-seasoned! I was quite surprised both by the layers of flavors in each dish. The food even remained hot and most of the fried items remained crispy...not soggy or mushy. I must say I did not expect much from this restaurant at the time of ordering, but they proved me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed everything. In all, Asian Star gets "Two Thumbs Up!" from me! They offer a large menu selection of items including appetizers, noodle/rice dishes, vegetarian options and chef's specials. Given the customer service, large menu selection, price point and taste of their eats.... You can't go wrong with this place. It rivals any popular DC carryout any day.....hands down!! I definitely recommend this place and will be back when in the area!

This was my favorite restaurant until about 2 months ago. The food isn't the same. New cooks??read more

Omg this place is absolute trash. I usually don't give one star reviews but yey.. I was In the mood…read morefor some Chinese and I just moved to the area . I was driving by and said to myself let me give this place a try. I ordered the triple delight it's supposed to have chicken shrimp beef. I felt like I was eating a frozen entree from the grocery store to be honest . First off my food was ready in less than five minutes. How can you cook shrimp chicken and beef in less than five minutes then the veggies um pretty sure there was something in there that I couldn't identify . Also they didn't ask me did I want any kind of sauce they just handed me a bag sealed and yelled my order number out and I figure it's pretty standard to get soy sauce and utensils atleast well not here buddy. I don't know but I just feel cheated and also I have had really bad gas since eating here like literally just laying In bed farting. So no I will never eat here again . I'm pretty sure Hong Kong has no affiliation with this carry out because it's terrible. I wouldn't order from here again with so many other carry out options . Plus it was almost 16 dollars and I get it I ordered a triple delight but bruh my meal was a triple fright -gas -no sauce-utensils-napkins -barely any meat but hey you live and you learn smh

Food was quick and tasty. Your typical carry out and they do have Half and half...if you know you…read moreknow.

Staff is super friendly and attentive. We ordered the spring rolls, pad Thai, and red curry. The food was presented well and tasted amazing! The best part for me is that the food came out piping hot and remained hot while I was eating! Highly recommend! Very informal place, but neat, clean, and tasty food! Tip: if you have a seafood allergy be careful some of their spring rolls do have shrimp in them so you have to specify and ask for vegetable spring roll.

Good mix of meat and veggies with a super flavorful sauce. The "char" flavor of a flame wok was just right. I kept eating more even after full for that perfect last bite! Goong Kao Poad Aan: This was good too. Very heavy on the baby corn which my kids love. The sauce was flavorful but a little thin however, it soaked into the white rice nicely. Overall, we are looking forward to try more dishes from here. My kids are horrible about eating leftovers but when I went to get some for myself they were all gone. Thumbs up from the whole family!

This was my first time ordering from Hunan Manor in Fort Washington, MD. I purchased Gen. Toi…read morechicken, wonton soup, scallion patties, pork fried rice, fried dumplings, and shrimp egg rolls. To my surprise, everything was delicious. The portions were large for the prices. Gen. Toi was well seasoned and slightly crunchy like I like it. It's sauce was genuine. It gets an "E" for excellent! The soup gets an "E" too. They used a chicken stock, not broth. Cooks know the difference and I am a cook. The dumplings were fried well, brown on one side and the pork filling was delicious. The pork fried frice was delicious. The rice was properly cooked with onions, bean sprouts, and fried egg. They made it the original way, no short cuts. The scallion patties were new to me. It was a little greasy and could have used a little seasoning. I heated them in the microwave on a paper towel and seasoned them with a little salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powder. Then it was really good! I will make this restaurant my favorite Asian restaurant for now on because their flavor meets my own

While the menu is expansive, many of the dishes are very similar, i.e. they have the same brown sauce as a component. Nonetheless, all the dishes we have tried are good. I'm partial to the wonton soup. I also like the moo-shi pork (though they would be even better if they heated the moo-shi pancakes before putting them in the foil). Orders are always ready for pick-up within 15 minutes. Service is very friendly. I haven't used the online ordering system because it is so easy to just call in my order.
