3 stars because it should be illegal that they don't have a bathroom. Food is good, you order at the bar then they bring it out. I noticed after my meal, there was no bathroom and asked someone at the counter and they let me know sometimes around the corner you can access a bathroom but otherwise they don't have one for the restaurant.

We were greeted immediately upon our arrival, with the gentlemen being very helpful in our selections. The coffee was very good. As I the prefer more savory side, I had the Couve Club waffle which has a slice of havarti cheese, very thinly sliced turkey, thin slightly crispy bacon and a dollop of raspberry preserves atop. Wow. Just WOW! Every bite of this was absolutely delightful. The only slight preparation modification I would have liked would be to have the cheese a bit more melted. My companion had the JG2, which comes with a generous amount of fresh blueberries, heavy drizzle of lemon curd and real whipped cream. I was told this was very good. The dining area isn't huge and it got a wee bit loud as more parties came in, but they were playing great music that wasn't too loud and they helped a bit. There was significant road work being done outside, with the road completely closed off, but we parked around the corner and walked over and I'm so glad we weren't scared off by the street issues; it was worth a little effort to have this really delicious breakfast.

Visited here for the first time on a sunny Saturday morning around 9am. I would definitely recommend getting here early since the restaurant filled up quickly after we ordered. Lots of families with little kiddos and couples and friends catching up over some yummy fluffy waffles. It was a little smokey in there when we were there and they actually don't have a bathroom in the building they are in but the friendly staff took the time to walk me next door and gave me the ladle key to access the bathroom in the adjacent building. You order at the counter and when I ordered the small hot chocolate I was asked if this was for a child and if so they are able to make it less hot and put it in a cup with lid. What a thoughtful gesture and much appreciated by this toddler mom! My friend and I and my toddler ordered the Audrey (goat cheese, honey, walnut), the Mojo Jojo (Nutella, banana, whipped cream), and I got the original waffle with whipped cream as well. The Belgian Liege waffles were crispy and fluffy but just dense enough to fill you up! I loved the suggested combos but you can also build your own too! (Although I did think $3 for a few pieces of strawberry were a little steep as a topping) but I think their suggested combos are the way to go. I even brought the original waffle home and it was just ask good toasted the next morning with my own toppings. This was a nice treat on a weekend morning. Go enjoy some sweet or savory waffles!

Syrup Trap is a cozy and cute breakfast spot. We went at 9:30am on a Sunday morning, so seating was a bit limited, but the service was fast. I got the JG2 waffle and loved the lemon curd and fresh blueberries as my topping, however I wasn't too impressed with the waffle itself. It was decent, but it was much more dense than other liege waffles I've tried. My boyfriend got the Elvis waffle and enjoyed it, while also agreeing the waffle texture wasn't his favorite.

I'm giving this place five stars for service! They employees are so welcoming and helpful. I had a nice conversation with the person at the register and there is a great vibe in the restaurant. I wish the seating was laid out differently to make it feel less cramped into the small space. Nonetheless though they've got the theme down perfectly! The waffles were super crispy, I notice normally the waffles from other spots I've had are more fluffy. Definitely come down and try these waffles, just keep that in mind if you like a more fluffy waffle!

Mojo Jojo

Delicious and authentic liege waffles with the perfect balance of sweet and crispy outside and soft on the inside. We tried the second breakfast, the Van Clucky, and the Mojo Jojo. We ordered two lattes as well which complemented the waffles. The interior is cute and very clean. Service was quick and friendly. We will visit again.

We needed to stop somewhere for a quick bite and decided on Syrup Trap this morning. This was actually my second time here, but a first for my husband. He loves anything sweet for breakfast so I figured he would like some of the menu items here. When we got there, it was about 1pm or so. There were 3 different tables of other customers when we arrived. Not that busy. We ordered a sandwich and a plate of waffles with Nutella. My husband loved the mojo jojo and devoured all of it. My sandwich was just okay. The waffle was really dry and overcooked in my opinion. It was not that soft when I was biting in to the sandwich. Establishment was cute and small. It's a buss your own table type of place located in downtown Vancouver so it's all street parking.

Stopped in about 10 minutes after opening on a Sunday morning. Only two tables were occupied, so it was a perfect time to visit without a line. The inside is small with only a few tables and bar seating in the window. There were a few bistro tables outside the entrance as well. You order at the counter, they bring you your food, then buss your table when finished. They also have a complimentary water and creamer station for convenience. After reviewing the menu, we decided on the Swanson Sammy ($11.75) and The Original with strawberries, bananas, and nutella ($11.75). My husband also ordered a 12 oz drip coffee ($3.25) with free refills. The guy at the counter let us know it would be a few minutes for the waffles because the irons were still heating up. We didn't think a 'few minutes' was too long, so we agreed; however, a few minutes actually meant 20 minutes. The wait was much longer than we anticipated, but the waffles were well worth the wait! They were nice and crispy on the outside and sweeter than normal waffles. We didn't need or order any syrup. My husband thought next time he may order the syrup with the sandwich because it was a little dry. Mine was perfect! I may opt for whipped cream with the berries next time. I would definitely order the same thing. Overall, we enjoyed our first visit and look forward to trying other menu options. Would recommend!

The food was delicious! The staff not so friendly. Cute spot. My kid loved her CC waffle plate!!

Try the Swason Sammy...egg, ummy bacon, sausage, havarti cheese in a waffle. I put Organic syrup on mine delicious!

Food service ambiance all plus! Coffee is done right! I'll be back for more... I had this pop-up while I was leaving the comment here, in order to leave a comment on yelp you need to have at least 85 characters to leave a review.

Got the Leslie Knope to go, oh em gee, this is the best waffle I've ever had. Service was quick, they were so kind and the restaurant itself was clean, and pretty chill!

Update from my original review - I'm not sure when they changed this, but they now have syrup dispensers on all the tables, so you can have syrup on your waffle at no additional cost. Yay! Everything else from my previous review still stands, and I'm so glad they gave a gluten-free waffle option. I only wish they had a bigger location with more seating. Many times when we've wanted to come here they are packed with no open seats, so we end up going elsewhere. I'm glad they are doing so well!

Okaaayy Trap Queen! Serving up some strong' & loyal' .... waffles! You can smell the handmade waffles from outside! Small inside dining - plan accordingly! Came around 11:15 on a Saturday and it was perfect! The Nitro Cold Brew was smooooth - had to add some sugar. Wish there was flavor addition options. We split the Elvis & the Waffle Sandwich. The Elvis needed a 'WOW' factor in my opinion - with the bacon being so subtle. Still felt like a healthier version of the Waffle Window. The Waffle Sandwich was deliciousssss. If you want to go on an adventure - ask to use the bathroom haha. This has serious potential - have to come back for more to uncover!

There was only one table available in a small room with 3 other four-top tables. It was super loud with that many people in such a small space. They definitely try to make use of every inch they have. We're not really 'crowd' people, nor do we enjoy high volume environments where we can't have a conversation without raising our voices. That part of the experience left little to be desired. The staff was super friendly, helpful and attentive. Our water glasses were refilled promptly, and considering how busy they were, our food came out timely. We ordered the club sandwich with fries and a bacon Swiss burger with chili. The food was good, but nothing outstanding. They offer generous portions at affordable prices. Overall we enjoyed our meal, but given the loud and crowded environment, we're not sure it's a place we'll frequent in the future.

It always looked rather…read moreupscale, and as a chef myself, I'll admit that I'm not always drawn to food that feels a little too bougie. I know how much work goes into creating that kind of dining experience, but sometimes I just want to sit down, relax, and enjoy a great meal without overthinking it. From the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted with smiles. I'll admit I was a little concerned that, because there were only two of us, we might be tucked away at a tiny table in the corner where things can feel cramped once the food arrives. Instead, we were seated at a beautiful table on the left-hand side, and we immediately felt comfortable. Then came our server, Alyssa, who was an absolute delight! She asked if we were celebrating anything special, and we explained that we were new to the area and had been encouraged to try the restaurant. Alyssa has such a calm, welcoming approach to service. She was attentive without being pushy, and she made us feel genuinely cared for throughout the evening. As someone who works in the hospitality industry, I appreciate that balance more than I can say. We started with the salt-and-pepper calamari. This is one of those dishes that can be absolutely fantastic at one restaurant and greasy or disappointing at another. Amaro's got it right! The calamari was crunchy, delicious, and a wonderful way to begin our meal. We also learned that the restaurant features a signature risotto each night of the week. We ordered the chicken Parmesan with risotto, along with the steak sandwich. The steak sandwich arrived on ciabatta bread, and it was delicious. I ordered the pepper sauce on the side, thinking I might prefer it that way. Next time, I'll definitely have it on the sandwich! It was so good that I also used it as a dipping sauce for the house chips. Trust me, that sauce deserves to be enjoyed. During dinner, the general manager, Cora, stopped by a couple of times to check on us. At the time, we didn't even realize she was the general manager. She was simply another friendly face making sure we were enjoying ourselves. That says a lot about the atmosphere of a restaurant when the hospitality feels so natural that you don't even think about titles or positions. You simply feel well taken care of. While we were eating, I glanced over at the neighboring table and noticed someone enjoying the fried chicken. Let me tell you, that portion looked impressive! It's definitely going on our list for the next visit, and it looked generous enough that you could probably bring a friend and share it. We don't drink alcohol, but I did notice that the beverage selection looked extensive, with plenty of interesting offerings for those who do. Here's the funny thing about trying a restaurant for the first time: sometimes you walk in without knowing quite what to expect, and you walk out thinking, "Well, that was a perfect choice!" That was exactly our experience at Amaro's. I often joke that when you have a truly perfect first experience at a restaurant, you almost hesitate to return because you're afraid it might be difficult to live up to that first impression. But that won't be the case here. We already have a list of dishes we want to come back and try, and I'm genuinely looking forward to our next visit. By the time we finished our meal, we were absolutely stuffed! We couldn't even finish everything on our plates, but somehow we still had dessert. We had ricotta donuts with a caramel dipping sauce. Honestly, dessert is something I would normally do not order. I'm so glad we got to give this a try! They were absolutely worth having and provided the perfect finishing touch to an already amazing dinner. Sometimes it's the dishes you wouldn't ordinarily choose that end up being the most memorable. Cora came back over for one last check in We had a nice closing conversation. A very special thank-you to Cora and Alyssa and the rest of the team for making our evening so enjoyable. Alyssa, if you're lucky enough to sit in her section, you're in for a treat. Her approach to service takes an already wonderful meal and elevates the entire dining experience. And finally, my compliments to the chef and the kitchen team. As a chef myself, I know that a successful restaurant experience takes more than good food. It takes a team working together to make guests feel welcome, comfortable, and eager to return. Amaro's delivered on all fronts. We came in to try a restaurant someone recommended, and we left feeling like we had found a place we'll be happy to return to. Great food, genuine hospitality, and a perfect way to end a three-day weekend. Welcome to our growing list of Vancouver favorites, Amaro's!

Not bad, but they offered an alternative which was to take a table in their atrium seating which is an indoor area they use on the weekends when their patio is closed for the season. Sure, why not? It was great. Spread out, a lot of windows so we could see the beautiful premises, and great service from Karen. I was delighted to learn that they now have a new section on their menu that just came out two days ago that are smaller portioned meals. There are about a half dozen to choose from and I had the chicken marsala which comes with the same thing as the full plate, mashed potatoes, and a seasonal vegetable, tonight, French green beans. The portion was ideal and incredibly tasty just a symphony of flavor in the chicken and the marsala sauce. My dinner partner had the citrus salmon and enjoyed it very much as well. I like the East Vancouver and the Hazel Dell locations as well, but I think downtown might be my favorite. Main street is alive and happening and now with beautiful string lights running across the road as far as the I can see in either direction, it's just magical.
