Syrup is a great addition to Algonquin. Food was good, but they have some problems. We arrived at 10 AM. No one greeted us. We waited about 10 minutes before anyone paid any attention that we were there. Once seated our waitress was very attentive. The ladies washroom was disgusting. Dirty floor, water on the vanity top, no place to put your purse down. It makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is...... read more

Definitely will come here for my breakfast again. There always busy but the service is fast you don't wait long for a table. There bacon and home made syrup is great. read more

This was our first visit to Syrup. Eating areas were set up in compliance with Covid standards, the restaurant was clean and tastefully decorated. However we found the service to be slow, yet congenial and was not impressed with our menu items. I ordered the lemon blueberry pancakes. I don't believe that there was lemon in the pancakes as did not taste it the blueberries were less than generous. The pancakes (2) appeared to be part-cooked, the texture was nit fluffy, rather heavy and moist. read more

I was eager to try this new place because I was a fan of colonial cafe and was disappointed when I heard they were closing. My friend and I grabbed brunch with my 18 month old today. The decor is beautiful inside. They did a great job with renovations. It was very packed and I know a lot of people complained about not following what they believed to be acceptable social distancing but if you're that concerned then don't go out to eat.... We ended up waiting about 45 minutes but I expected the long wait because it was a Sunday around 9:30 which is typical around here. I gave 3 starts because although the food was decent I was a bit underwhelmed. I had pretty high expectations with losing colonial cafe and seeing the renovations and the pricing. When our food arrived I noticed my daughters plate was not present. Our waiter came over right away to ask if everything looked good and I informed him my daughters food did not come out with ours. He stated that. "Sometimes there is a cliche in the computers and adult's food comes out before children's. " Which is crazy to me because most parents get their kids set up to eat before they even touch their food but it was not a big deal because her food came out within minutes. For my daughter's side I ordered her a fruit bowl which had one piece of pineapple and the rest was just two different types of melons. I was hoping for blueberries or strawberries at least. I ordered the cinnamon French toast. When it arrived I noticed a big component was missing. A nice manager came over and asked how everything was and I asked him if the French toast came with syrup. He informed me it could and that a lot of people do not want that because it is already pretty sweet. I knew the menu stated it came with syrup but I found it ironic that the restaurant is called Syrup and it was missing. He brought over warm syrup right away. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict and mentioned there was way too much arugula and ended up taking more than half off. She also ordered a side of pancakes with special syrup which came in a tiny tiny bowl. Overall I was disappointed. My friend and I discussed that we would come back again because it has such potential! I found it odd that each employee had an excuse for everything as if they were trained to be ready for the complaints instead of just apologizing and fixing it. read more

Yum! Love this new spot in town!! Cinnamon roll French toast is my fave. Service is great and it's our new fave breakfast spot!

First time we have been to Syrup. We had great service by Marco. We loved the farm to table food. Large portions. Next time we look forward to going at breakfast. Yum!!! read more

This spot is AMAZING. From farm fresh produce, to COVID respectful limitations, to INCREDIBLE tastes - this place has it all. I came with my father back in September and had the utmost pleasure of having Alicia is our server. When my family came back in October for breakfast, we immediately knew who we wanted to serve us to complete our journey. Alicia is knowledgeable of the entire menu, provides spot on recommendations for your taste buds, and is fun and exuberant from start to finish. She's one of a kind, and I've been in the service industry for years. Make Syrup your new food spot, and support local/small business during this tough economic time! read more

Most things we had were great! Good waffles, good chicken fried chicken. But the loaded potato pancakes tasted how a cadaver lab smells...like formaldehyde. Super disappointing and unappetizing. read more

Love it love it especially the special sauce that comes with the waffles and pancakes so delicious. Always fresh. The bloody mary is delicious and that candied bacon yummmmmm definitely worth the wait. read more

More like 3.5 stars, but I rounded up. Nice interior decor, quick seating and food came out in good time on a Saturday morning. Food was good, but I'd hesitate to call it great. I ordered an omelette that came out incorrect, but I still ate it. At 5-eggs it was massive, however the quantity did not outweigh the quality. The cheese was stuffed centrally, so many bites near edges went without ingredients ordered. Also, this place up charges for things you'd find standard at many other breakfast places, including Burnt Toast which is right across the street. Example; to get pancakes with your omelette you're paying a few dollars extra for 2 very small pancakes whereas adding pancakes is a standard at Burnt Toast and you get 3 large pancakes. In fairness, it looks like Syrup's specialty waffles, pancakes and French toast is where this place excels, and the next time I visit that's the route I'll go - it just won't be before I go back to some staples in the area. read more

My husband and I came here on Wednesday (9/16) for a late breakfast, we were seated right away and our waitress was extremely attentive. The food came out quickly and everything was perfect. The food is delicious and I would definitely come back! Even the manger stopped at the table a few times to check on us. I highly recommend. :) read more

Hit or miss ver poor chicken selection for there breakfast options that include chicken very rubbery stringy cuts of meat

Food was good, however they charge way different prices that what the menu they give you says. Each item was several more bucks more then listed in the menu. I get that prices are changing, but at least let people know. Food was good as mentioned, but it's about principle. Don't say you charge one thing and then charge another. read more

Breakfast potatoes were very bad. They were soggy. Veggie burger was very bad. No mayonnaise or ketchup on the side or burger. When asked waitress for mayonnaise she started arguing that there should be mayonnaise there already in the burger. My wife showed her the burger and then she was shut up. For coffee we had to remind the waitress few times. For hot sauce asked the waitress but never got one. Never had such bad service at any place. i will not recommend it to anyone. Please don't waste your money and time. read more

Just ate at Syrup in Algonquin. I ordered the Butcher omelette. When I got it, it looked like scrambled eggs with all the ingredients cooked into the eggs. I got less than half way through this meal and the eggs were not fully cooked. I mentioned it to my server and all that he said is I will mention it to someone. I barely had enough time to get home to go to the bathroom. My wife and sons meals were fine. I would recommend staying away from their omelettes. read more

We loved the place. Great food and plenty of it. Service was exstrodinary. The employees very kind. We are definitely going back.

Great menu and good quality food. Servers helpful and polite too. Specialty coffees were delicious and well blended. Bright and light is appealing for breakfast but can't say chairs are comfy. Better chairs would make the dining experience worth returning. Besides the good beverages the food was really tasty. read more

Menu is very large and confusing. Food was good and I would have gave a higher rating however our service was down right terrible. Our coffees were only filled because we flagged someone down to do so... we were not given anything we needed for our breakfast (ex: salt pepper silverware syrup etc) our server was down right rude and it seemed as if we were a burden to her the moment we sat down. This was my first time dining here I probably will not return. read more

The hostess seated us quickly for a table for two. Lots of larger groups were waiting, so that was nice. Server was great also. Food was ok, a bit on the pricey side. My omelette was huge, as was the serving of potatoes. Omelette was $16, but was big enough for two. Pancakes were good. Would go back, but would probably stick with pancakes, and pass on omelette. read more

Syrup was great! I passed by recently when driving in Algonquin, and have wanted to try it out for a bit. I went with better half today before going to church, and the food was delicious! We tried the breakfast platter that came with bacon, eggs, potatoes and french toast, and the lemon crepes with strawberries, blueberries and mascaropone sauce. Wow! Delicious. I got my eggs scrambled, very fresh and well cooked, the bacon was delicious (I love bacon!). The crepes were also delicious, very fresh and light, the fruit was fresh and generous. Great combination between the fresh fruit and sweeter mascaropone sauce. Menu items were well priced, around $12 and coffee was $3. Our server was friendly and helpful. The ambience is modern, very clean, and we were seated right away - which was awesome because there came a rush of people soon afte rwe got seated. They have some other food that seems really good, and I am definitely going to be back and try some of their other menu items. They also have outdoor seating in a seat for extra room. Definitely recommend! Great addition to lovely Algonquin! read more

See all

My husband and I went here for his birthday breakfast and it did was delicious! We see the lines outside the restaurant on the weekends so we have stayed away but it was wide open on the Monday morning we went. The inside is decorated really nice and it is bright and very clean inside. The portions are huge and I ate my breakfast for the next two days. Everything we had was amazing. Service was perfect. We will definitely be back! read more

Stopped in for Brunch on Tuesday. We were seated immediately. Wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Coffee was great. We ordered the Santa Fe omelet and eggs Benedict. Both were absolutely delicious. We were only able to eat, half of each meal. Made a great breakfast today. I'm doing the low carb thing and the waiter gladly substituted a salad for the potatoes and toast. The manager was checking with guests to make sure all was ok. All and all a great meal, great service. We'll be back for more . read more

First time, here. Took out. Fantastic! Yummy Benny, Crabby Cake, and side of Billion Dollar Bacon.

I haven't found a single thing on the menu that wasn't delicious! The staff is always great! My favorites are the mega-rito and the banana bread French toast. The mango smoothies and caramel macchiatos are also a favorite. Take-out or dine-in, they always impress. read more

Our FAVORITE place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. The chilaquiles are muy delicioso! The waffles and pancakes are like nothing else. Great options and tasty flavored lemonades. read more

I've been here once with the hubby and 2 kids. I expected better for the amount of people that frequent this place. The chilaquiles, huge portion, but they don't wow. The coffee tasted funny. Our meal was interrupted by a little commotion. Apparently the bus boy cleaned a table while mom went to the bathroom with her kids. They obviously, felt bad for it,but it definitely disrupted our visit. read more

It's breakfast but don't expect it to be amazing. I was disappointed with this place. My review may seem harsh but only because it was just one thing after another at this place. First, I counted several employees who had their masks under their noses the entire duration of our breakfast (an hour or so). Next, our server stood right over us while we ordered - no personal space in time of COVID, alright then. Then, she messed up our drink orders but charged us for the more expensive drinks she thought we ordered. When we tried ordering food, she didn't have a clue about the food items on the menu and it was a hassle trying to get grits instead of potatoes. She kept saying the potatoes came in the breakfast burrito on a skillet so it couldn't be done. Food arrives and the potatoes are a literal side. A different server dropped our food off, but not before being confused which table she had to go to. This seemed to happen non-stop with food being delivered to the wrong table. It also happened with our wrong drinks. Then our server never came back to check if we needed anything (utensils and napkins would have been nice), if the order was correct, or how the food was. Then when it comes time to pay, guess who comes back and decides to hover again? The only thing I liked was the iced latte with almond milk. read more

This was such a beautiful place. The atmosphere was vibrant. Our waitress Alica made this experience absolutely unforgettable. She gave us plenty of options, the food was delicious and, the serving size was surplus. 10/10 cant wait to come here again. read more

My wife and I ate breakfast at Syrup 5 times during a recent visit. We were staying next door at the Holiday Inn Express and it was a short walk to get there. For all 5 of our visits, service was excellent and attentive - we had a different server each day so they are obviously doing an excellent job of hiring and training their staff. We tried a variety of items (oatmeal with fresh fruit being our favorite), all of which were excellent, which would explain why we kept coming back 5 days in a row. Prices aren't cheap, but the options, service, presentation and freshness are worth their higher prices. As a previous restaurant owner, I can appreciate when things are being done consistently and being done well. Great job, Syrup! read more

We have visited Syrup 4 times since it opened. We love the food and the management. We've always had good service and Kimmie, the owner is very responsive to concerns and open to suggestions. In fact, we were told that the delicious Reuben Panini was being taken off the menu but because of us and other diners who love it, Kimmie decided to keep it. We love it! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. Food was amazing and staff was great. Best breakfast I have ever eaten!

Delicious food. Amazing menu. So much to choose from. This is our go to breakfast and lunch place.
