I hired Synergy for work in my home, and the experience was extremely disappointing and costly. The work was never completed properly and required multiple return visits because of incomplete and defective workmanship. After removing the acoustic ceiling in my living room, the crew left the ceiling exposed with visible water damage and walked away. I ultimately hired someone else to finish the work because I did not want the crew returning again. During the process, my home sustained additional damage, including a kitchen cabinet being ripped out and left in my driveway, damage to my kitchen floor, electrical wiring being cut (which required a licensed electrician), and custom drapes and blinds being torn down and balled up even though they should not have been removed. An oak cabinet was also disassembled on top of my washer, rendering it unusable. These issues were documented on site by their own representative, who expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of the work. Despite causing documented damage, the company refused to reimburse for my custom drapes, sheers, and valences for seven windows. They rejected estimates--first claiming it was fraud--without providing any alternative valuation. To this day, my window treatments have not been replaced. To make matters worse, the company attempted to bill me for a disputed balance while threatening a lien, even though the damage caused far exceeded the amount they claimed I owed. My rental house had a major fire and I needed an asbestos abatement company to remediate the hazards and remove fire debris. Between the insurance company, tenant and the city agencies, it was not an easy process. I chose Synergy as it submitted a substantial lowest bid among 6 or so companies I contacted and it was also recommended by a business associate. Amazing company, the estimator came out quickly and was professional. The quote came in very fast and was many thousands less than a couple other companies from out of the area, it was a bigger project. You really need to shop around when looking for this service. When they came, the guys were very nice. They did seal all the windows and doors with plastic and tape and it appeared they were wearing the proper PPE. I had synergy come to my home to remove my HVAC ducting and heat registers because I was told they had asbestos. At first I was very happy with the work that was done. Until, I went under my house for myself. The crawl space had remnants of the paper that supposedly has the asbestos in it. They failed remove the return that was on the floor, it also had asbestos. This made me very upset. I had no way to properly remove or dispose of it myself. When the company came to install my new furnace they found asbestos they as well. When they gave me the price and told me that all of the asbestos would be removed and that I would receive a certificate of clearance, that's what I was counting on. That didn't happen. If you're concerned about your safety and that of your loved ones, please avoid having this company do any kind of work for you. In fact, if you have gotten any kind of abatement work done with these guys in the past, unless you witnessed proper protocol being followed yourself, (based on my experience) it's likely that it wasn't and your safety might already have been compromised. If they furnished any kind of sampling results, please go back and look at the results carefully. To give you a few examples. 1) One of the basic protocols of this work is proper encapsulation of the work area. The crew that came out to do the job did not build any kind of encapsulation around the vents, actively scrapping the asbestos lined ducts. I immediately sensed something was off - and the worker assured me that this is how things are done. I also immediately called the project manager James (who assured me of the same) As it turns out later in the day - this is a strict violation of the protocols that are supposed to be followed and me and my family had to spend multiple days outside of the house while they admitted to wrong doing and worked to (supposedly) remedy this situation. 2) I have reason to believe that this company engages in fraudulent practices. They supposedly collect a post abatement air sample and send it to a 3rd party lab for clearances. In my case, the air sample report that was sent to me has the time-stamp of the air sample as collected 'after' the crew had left the premises. I also didn't witness any kind of testing material being carried to the attic. Very suspicious. While at first their cost might seem reasonable - they openly flout protocols and don't seem trustworthy at all, compromising the heath and safety of everyone involved, through grossly negligent business and abatement practices. After all of this hassle - they (supposedly) cleaned the house and furnished some final reports to me and are trying to completely absolve themselves of any accountability towards the same and are now ghosting me when I'm asking questions about what's in the report. So many alarm bells here. read more

WTF. They dropped chunks of ASBESTOS and left them behind in our crawlspace when removing ductwork in our 1950's ranch home in El Cerrito. When I asked them to return to fix their mistakes they came back to clean-up and did little to nothing. After their clean up attempt I found more asbestos which I paid to have tested at T.E.M. labs in Berkeley. The hard lesson learned here is: When removing a classified carcinogenic contaminant from your home, hire the most expensive contractor to do the job, NOT THESE CLOWNS. Pay a few bucks to get your own air-test done. Pay another $40 to your own soil sample test done. read more

Synergy EE removed the old insulation that was on the hot air ducts in our home. They arrived on time and Aldolfo and his assistant worked efficiently and carefully to seal up the heating duct outlets, doors and air vents prior to removing the insulated heating ducts. They assayed the air for asbestos fibers, carefully packaged the material they removed so there was no contamination in our basement and provided post abatement air sampling. They then cleaned up the work area, and removed all of the covers over the heating outlets so the new furance could be installed the next day. They were courteous and explained everything they had done before leaving. There service was a great value and the documentation/certification provided by the company after the waste was disposed of will make it easy to sell our home when the time arrives. read more

About 3/16/22 I spoke with Millie at Synergy. I was calling about a SMUD program for my condo & I needed to get an appointment with Synergy. I found Millie to be unprofessional, occasionally accusatory, & grossly unprofessional even as I tried to help her to be a better employee as I figured out pretty quickly she wasn't too bright. The home visit was scheduled for 3/24. The following week I learned that Millie accused me of swearing during our conversation & Synergy communicated this to SMUD. While completely untrue & slanderous SMUD told me my appointment was canceled with Synergy. I've tried to reach Synergy management twice via telephone but I've received no response. I've come to the conclusion this is 1 pretty sleazy company & I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau & SMUD. read more

Two guys came to my house, lifted the plywood sub floor, exposed the mold, showed me. They treated it by sanding it down and spraying anti microbial fluid. We used Synergy Enterprises to abate asbestos-containing roof shingles on an historic church, with ~3,000 sf. roofed area. It was a difficult job, as most of the work was performed on a steep 12:12 pitch roof. Working around the schedule of an active preschool within the same compound, Synergy was able to schedule work to accommodate the safety of our tenant. Avoid this company at all costs. We called them in for lead tile clean up. After their work, we had the work independently tested, and it came back positive for lead. We had them come in for re-clean and test. The test was done on Tuesday, and results were promised on Friday because of Thanksgiving week. It's now the following Wednesday, and we still don't have the result. The only communication I have received from them is an email asking me to make a payment, no communication about when the results are expected (the other company took less than a day to process results). Their representative has completely ghosted me, not responding to my texts and calls about an update. Their back-office has said they'll send me the results when they come in, and refused to provide any other updates. read more

While I didn't do the hiring, the attic insulation company did...I can say I'm pretty impressed so far so unless something comes up when the insulation is laid down, it's 5 out 5 for them. While I didn't get a call for a confirmation of the abestos removal, the attic company did say that they would be here in the 8am-10am time slot and they showed up just a few minutes after 8am. After a few questions and a general walk-through around the house for inspection, they were pretty quick to set up and go. The work at a glance looks good and they removed about half a dozen bags from the attic and when finishing, they were very clean even to the point where I had a duct in our kitchen fall partially open (not from this company, but years ago when we had our air ducts cleaned,one side/screw sort of got stripped and loose). Anyways, they came into the kitchen and vacuum the small debris that fell and even retightened the duct. Albeit, this is only the second time we had to use an abatement team, but I'm pretty impressed so far and would probably hire them again if something came up. read more

The contract was vague and we were expecting them to remove asbestos from 2 different furnace rooms. They successfully removed it from one area, but took too much so that the heating/cooling company had to add some back in to connect the pipes correctly. They never did the 2nd area. I had to change my ductwork and HVAC company had a tie up with Synergy company. My HVAC sales person told me the amount to remove ductwork ( he knew it based on recent work and number of vents) but he contacted Peter ( from Synergy) to get estimate. He got the estimate for 11 vents but later on I told him that we have only 10 vents and the estimate was supposed to be $200 less. He asked me to contact Peter so I texted him few times but he never responded. HVAC sales guy said its between me and Synergy and I can always choose another company but I know it doesn't go well if you have company other than your contractor prefers. Anyway, I got the synergy contract and talked to the person but she refused to change the amount though I told her that we don't have same # of vents. On top of the amount, Synergy charged me 3% fuel surcharge which was never told to me the beginning but they said its standard for them ( well, I couldn't do much here as I had HVAC guy scheduled for next day). On the work side, I don't have any complaint and the 2 guys who came home did a great job removing the ductwork (and five star to those guys). I wanted to give overall 5 star rating but changing the stand on price and not charging the customer right amount doesn't go well. After checking all the duct system they told us that we need to remove all the system and install new one . We had 8 duct and they ask for $2200 to remove them ,I didn't except that because I think it's a lot . I contact other company and when they arrive they told me that I have 6 duct and they told me to remove all $1500. We contracted with them to clean out our attic -- both the air ducts and all of the old insulation. When they were "done" in a few hours, I found out that they had removed the air ducts, but that insulation removal wasn't in the contract. I double-checked the contract and saw that technically they were right. So I asked how much it would cost to complete the job. Instead of working with us to solve the miscommunication, they tried to slap us with a huge bill to remove the insulation. Although they were correct that it wasn't in the contract, the insulation removal was mentioned verbally. And I'm just wondering who would want to remove the ducts but not the nasty old insulation? We wound up using a different company that completed the job for less than what Synergy wanted. read more

Rob came to my house to give a quote on removing the popcorn ceilings, which I thought has asbestos. He suggested that we do a patch test for $50 to confirm it actually was asbestos. He just had a hunch it wasn't asbestos. Turns out that he was right and he saved me a ton of money by doing the patch test. This means that we won't end up hiring Synergy to do our removal because it's not asbestos but I had to write this review to let everyone know how honest they are. :-) We got another quote from another asbestos removal company (Quality Asbestos Removal) that didn't offer the patch test and went straight to giving us an exorbitant quote for removal. UPDATE: Rob came back to my place to do patch tests in every room. They all came back negative. I would recommend Synergy to everyone for asbestos testing! read more

This company has no concept of customer service and therefore I would not recommend them despite the fact they completed the service of asbestos removal. I have made several phone calls, sent emails, asked for assistance from the referring company and asked for support from the billing agent over a period two months in order to obtain a correct invoice so I could submit payment. NO ONE has bothered to communicate with me at any time. In addition, they emailed the incorrect invoice to me on the same date it was due - not even close to reasonable. read more

I will start by saying that I had a painter who made trouble in terms of retexturing the ceiling after Synergy had done their work. It created confusion. However, Robert was cordial and flexible in helping me sort through this issue. Upon further investigation, the issue was due to the error of the painter, not Synergy. That said, Synergy was willing to adjust my fee reasonably to reflect a last minute change - I had requested they leave up the plastic rather than dispose of it because it would save me money on prep work with the painter. Robert was willing to credit me to reflect the time I spent on clean-up & disposal of plastic due to this modification. He was also patient with receiving payment. Synergy wanted me to be satisfied with the work when I paid. I will also say that my ceilings look beautiful. What a difference in space and light. I highly recommend to anybody that they remove asbestos or popcorn from their ceilings. It is supposed to be one of the most cost effective ways to raise property value. I had used a company in the south bay, recommended by insurance. it was not good as I would like since I did not select it in the beginning. this time, I was referred by friends. This company was strongly recommended by our real estate agent to do asbestos removal for our rental property. The experience dealing with them was very stressful to say the least: (1) they would never answer the phone from Friday til Monday morning. There were few urgent situations that I needed to talk to Synergy but no one was there to help. All other people or my contractors do work on Fridays and we needed Synergy to corporate. This is 4th Friday that we called and we still could not reach, Jake, their person in charge. (2) Synergy did not have permission to throw our bedroom closet metal-door top tracks away and they did. The antique metal-door tracks were irreplaceable; we had to have our contractor to purchase doors from Home Depot to replace the two bedroom closet doors. Again, WE COULD NOT REACH JAKE, the Synergy person in charge. (3) I have sent email, made phone calls, from Wednesday, Thursday, and today (Friday) trying to ask the reimbursement of the doors only. Jake said that he will check with his boss yesterday (Thursday) morning. Jake gave me his direct line number which I thought was nice. I have called his direct-line Thursday afternoon but only be able to leave a message. Today (Friday) I still could only leave messages on his direct-line. Synergy completed our work on Thursday June 3rd. Today is July 9th (Friday) We still have not got a clear answer from Synergy and may not be able to talk to Jake until July 12th (Monday). That is almost 6 weeks of unsolved problem; this is a very stressful situation that I don't wish any customer to experience. read more
