This place was great. We rolled the dice on where to go and yelpers did not disappoint. You walk into this tiny diner and it feels like it is someone's house. The staff was busy so we were not sure if we should seat ourselves or wait. We decided to sit and did not have to wait long for service. The waitress was busy but very friendly and made sure we got coffee and water while we looked at the menu. I only got eggs and country ham but both were cooked perfectly. The ham was a bigger piece than I expected and was not dried out. My wife tried the biscuits and gravy and said they were pretty good as well. I am pretty sure we will be back to Murfreesboro in the near future so we will make it a point to return here for another great breakfast. read more

This is a follow-up to my previous review of Sylvan Park in Murfreesboro, Tn. Your unprofessional reply to my "average" rating for your little diner did not surprise me. I have been there twice in the last couple of weeks. You do not sanitize anything between customers. At best you wipe the table top with a rag that has been used on previous tables. You do not sanitize salt and pepper shakers, chairs, doors, counters, etc. My latest, and last meal, was average at best. My biggest problem was the attitude of your server. I asked why you were doing nothing to address the Covid-19 virus and there attitude was very flippant. She ended by saying, "If I get it, I get it." Sorry your sales are down and you feel it necessary to cram every person in there for that extra dollar, but most every good restaurant in the 'boro is taking extra precautions. Maybe you did things different in Nashville, but the folks here have a little more concern and compassion for their neighbors. As for your "dig" at me for bringing my drink in from McDonalds, the answer is simple. Your drink prices, along with their taste is the basis for my decision. Also, your diminished serving sizes, does not make dining there worth the money. read more

I got my dinner to go.. crab cakes, fried okra, mashed potatoes and squash. The food was tasty and good but they were skimpy and I ended up rummaging through my cupboard and eating half a box of cheddar crackers to fill me up. $11.00 and still hungry. I was going to get fried oysters tomorrow night but I've changed my mind. The veggies were so scarce I think I'll stop somewhere else. read more

I had breakfast at the Murfreesboro location on Saturday morning with a group of 6 hungry guys. I only wish I knew that very patient waitress's name. She had a wonderful attitude and made sure we were all happy with our service and the wonderful food. I had a "Mid-western" omelet, that is a western omelet without bell peppers, (ACK! Just ate lunch there for the first time with my son-in-law and my two granddaughters. The service was excellent and the food was exceptional. My 10 year old granddaughter had a cheeseburger, three vegetable plate and chess pie and she ate almost all of it plus part of my country fried steak with gravy(which was actually more like saulsbury steak but excellent), part of a cornbread muffin and part of her sister's peach cobbler. I plan on becoming a regular customer at this meat and three restaurant. Girls want to go back tomorrow for breakfast. Prices are reasonable and adequate portions. read more

Ate lunch here today - fried chicken, turnip greens, squash casserole and cole slaw. Overall, an awesome lunch. Fried Chicken- Some of the best I've had. Perfectly seasoned, crispy and not greasy. Squash Casserole- Good but not great. Needs something crunchy on top like crumbled ritz crackers. Greens - Good but could have used some ham or bacon to add a little smokiness and flavor. Sylvan Park is a meat and three restaurant that has been a long time favorite for many in Nashville. This place is packed for lunch and they are already talking about opening a second location in the Boro. The owner is very nice and she even gave me a free slice of chocolate pie for having to wait a little longer than normal for my to go order. If you go during lunch time be prepared to wait but it will be worth it. read more

My husband and I had dinner here last night. He ordered the fried chicken which the waitress let him know there would be a short wait as they had just started cooking the chicken. He decided to wait for it and he said it was worth the wait! I had the turkey and dressing and it was also yummy. Definitely better than the dressing at Millers Grocery. First I want to say the management and staff were very nice. The food is just okay. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans were good but the mashed potatoes were a little watery and not very tasty. My country fried steak was more like a Salisbury steak. I guess it was fried but I could not tell. It was more like a roasted hamburger steak smothered in an onion brown gravy. There are a few places around here that do this kind of food much better in my opinion. If it was not for the service I would be giving this place 2 stars. read more

Great local place right on hwy 41. It's a no-frills restaurant but that didn't deter us because we heard about the great food. We were there on Christmas Eve and found a place to sit right away. Service was prompt and courteous. Got a traditional breakfast of eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, and coffee. The bacon was maybe just a little too gristley for my taste but other than that, everything else was great! Can't beat the prices either. It came out around $6 a person! read more

They place is not made for parties of five or more. We arrived and the majority of the tables were dirty. We saw on table for four and a little table we slide beside the other table. The waitress was busy talking, so we were trying to help her. Apparently it pissed her off and told us they would close them down to move a little table beside the table for four. She took the next little table beside the other one and replaced it. We sat for a long time and she never took our drink order and ignored us the entire time. Four other tables arrived and were waited on right away by this waitress. Finally a young guy came out and took our drink order, he brought half the drinks and then got drinks for the other table. I am not sure if he was new or didn't care. We finally placed our order and got our food. The manager finally showed up and this rude female waitress got busy and cleaned off the tables. The young male waited messes up one order but he was trying. The manager was helpful and we made no comment to her about the female waitress. We did notice the female waitress pointing to us and talking about us, the waitress also pointed to another table and talked about them. Hopefully the manager will inform this waitress she shouldn't talk about customers. We had no problem with the naive male waiter or manager. The food was good but their dark haired, heavier waitress needs to work on her attitude. We knew she was ignoring us and we almost left. Our table of five brought more money in then the table of one and two she waited on, who arrived after us. I am not sure if we will return or not. They need to put a sign on their door if you have more then four in your party, go somewhere else. read more

So happy we found this little diner. Dinner Friday night. Ordered the country fried steak platter and the 3 piece catfish platter. Over the top quality and taste. Great service and friendly people. Save the breakfast menu and made plans to go the next morning. Top quality again. Ordered so that we experienced the major offerings. Bacon was highly recommended but just passable. Only thing that way. Grits, Biscuits, Gravy, Sausage, Pancakes, Home style potatoes, fried bologna and eggs all top shelf. Will be back as often as we can justify. read more

Had an early dinner. Seated immediately around 4:00. I ordered fried chicken, but none was ready, so I was told it would be a few extra minutes. I was hungry and they said I could get catfish faster. I opted for faster catfish. I was not disappointed. The food was great, the service was great and it was a great setting to talk with other patrons, which I did.
