Ms. Marian's Cafe was almost a tale of caution. So when we pulled into the parking lot, we noticed that the customer in the car next to us was getting out with food in his hand. That couldn't be a good sign. We walked into the restaurant and he was complaining to the cashier and cook that the food they gave him the night prior was not good and was seemingly not fried correctly. We didn't have to hear another word and started turning around. The customer came outside to the car and was like "naw don't leave! The food is normally really good. I just had a problem with my order last night but when the cook that's back there now is here, the food is really good." That was a different type of honesty and very refreshing because he truly didn't have to say anything to us at all. So we went back in and were thanked by both the cashier and cook for wanting to give it a chance. We ordered the mozzarella sticks, an 8 piece honey gold wing combo, a catfish plate, two Kool-Aids, and a bowl of banana pudding. I'm so glad we listened to the customer. That food was so good! The team made sure they went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. The only thing I had an issue with was the banana pudding. For me, it was too mushy. Food--not much different than other "soul" food/fried food restaurants. They have the Sunday "soul" food menu that offers common Southern options--meatloaf, chicken and dressing, pork chops, etc. The going price is $11 for a meat and 2 sides with bread. They also offer their regular menu--fried wings, tenders and fish. Regular menu options range from $6-9 depending on what you order. Entree only is lower end and if you add a side expect to add $2-3 more. Nothing stands out as absolutely better than anywhere else. Location--near campus so it can get busy when school is in. Limited parking if they are busy. Interior-also not spectacular but it does bottleneck at the door because it is difficult to tell the direction of customer flow since everyone stands at the door to order and wait. Customer Service--needs improvement/attention. This is an area that no business can afford to slip on. Greet every customer when they enter the door and make sure everyone is getting what they ordered in a timely manner and accurately is KEY!! While my order was correct, it took 45 minutes and that was because I asked about it at 30 minutes. That should never happen with a person sitting inside the building and making eye contact with any employee. When it is recognized that you slipped up, always offer more than just a "sorry for your wait". Doubt I will come back but I don't expect to wait that long for mediocre food. Too many other places serving that with better prices and service. read more

Wings are amazing, especially if you like breaded wings. They have homemade koolaid that's amazing as well. If you enjoy supporting local businesses that have a hole in the wall feel this is the place to go. The employees have an approachable energy as well. read more

Decent little place. They offer soul food on M,Th,Su. Fried chicken was delish. Green beans, slaw and cabbage were tasty. Pintos we're ok. Was disappointed a little either the ox tail. They did taste good. They were served cold. Overall really good. read more

Ms. Marian's Cafe... Stopped by at the spur of the moment trying to decide what was going to be for P.M. brunch and this was the place I chose. Ordered some wings however the menu has everything from wings, burgers, and fish, etc. Plus, sides to make it all the perfect meal. They do real deal soul food on Sundays and I will be trying it among the other selections the menu offers. This establishment is out by MTSU and easy to find. Allot of people pre-order and pick up. However, you can go in and order and the its not along wait time; actually its pretty quick! The service was great and the cashier was very friendly knowing this was my first visit, she went over the menu and specials, etc. That helped me allot... we visited Ms Marians again today for lunch. I love her wings and I'm trying to sample every flavor. My husband loves the fried chicken livers and fried okra. however everything we have tried is delicious. if you like home cooking that's cooked to order, you have to go there. My husband actually told me I could quit cooking and just call and order and he'd go pick it up. And that is totally fine with me. read more

Ive been wing hopping for months and l have been totally disappointed by the "wing" places around Murfreesboro until...... I finally found my one and only. They truly cook when you order, my seasoning was perfect, and the time I waited was just right. They not only have wings but have anything from burgers to fish with sides and desserts to make your meal complete. If the wings are that good I can only imagine how good the other things will be! l was also thanked for coming in by who I think was one of the owners as I left the restaurant. So first let me say I've been living back in the boro for 2 years now and I have struggled to find a place with some good wings. Wings are my comfort food and Murfreesboro has a less than stellar wing option. With that said, I discovered Ms Marians Cafe on a happy coincidence and good lord these Honey Hot wings are a blessing. 10/10 recommend if you're looking for some good southern homestyle wings. Good food. Good prices. Good people. My kids and I just took our first trip to Ms. Marian's. We were greeted and treated like family. I am excited that I got to take my kids somewhere that had the type of small-town charm I remember from the mom-and-pop shops I'd ride my bike to decades ago. (The fact that you can order homemade Kool-aid and fruit tea enhance this appeal tremendously.) The selection of wing sauces is nice, but it isn't just wings. The menu hosts a variety of food choices ranging from cheeseburger to chicken salad - all of which you can eat without making your pockets feel light. Really excellent fried catfish and delicious onion rings as a side. Got the fried pickles and they were definitely on the salty side for me but still very good. Everything was obviously right out of the fryer when I got my food. We ate there for the first time today because I love good soul food. I had the neck bones, sweet potatoes and deviled eggs. The meat was fall off the bone tender and delicious as were the sweet potatoes. The filling on the deviled eggs was too runny and they were impossible to pick up with your fingers and eat. My wife had the fried pork chops, sweet potatoes and green beans. The pork chops were paper thin and the breading had too much pepper. She did not like the green beans or sweet potatoes because of the seasoning. She said that the strawberry cake and chocolate chess pie were okay but these pieces of dessert were small and definitely not worth $3.50 each. My wife will not eat there again but I will because it is good authentic soul food. I want to try the oxtail, chicken and dressing and the chittlins. I probably would have given it 5 stars if the portions were larger. read more
