Came here a few weeks ago on a spur of the moment trip to Hudson. Sat at the bar and had a wonderful dinner. I wanted to eat lighter that evening and dandelion salad with walnut pesto and pickled beets, followed by a fluke entree with local corn hit the spot. Fiance had the porkchop which was grilled to juicy perfection. The wine list is pretty impressive, by the glass options included. I understand their menu changes often but if they happen to have a beef tongue appetizer on the menu - please order it; it is meltingly tender with just the right amount of acidity added to the garnish - one of the best dishes I've tried in a long time. The service was attentive and unobtrusive. read more

Very nice restaurant with warm atmosphere. Staff was very helpful and friendly and overall service was really good. For a starter we tried the bacon wrap dates which were nice but the bacon was the main taste of the dish. The main course was superb, we tried the risotto and the pappardelle and we found both to be really tasty and well cooked.the pappardelle was al dente with a nice sauce. For dessert we tried the apple cake with the ice cream which we also enjoyed except for the syrup. Finally we had a bottle of red whine which we really liked and found well suited with our dishes. Overall its a really nice restaurant to visit while in hudson however the dishes are a bit on the small side yet delicious. read more

Swoon my be the best dining in Hudson. I met Cynthia Nixon there one day ! The entrees are excellent and the atmosphere is upscale without being stuffy. I love the steak here. They always get a good crowd on the weekends and bar stools are not that easy to come by. Not inexpensive but worth the price. I think the small dishes however could be improved for the price. This is probably the place in Hudson to be for a special occasion or when you need to impress. Mark and Lisa provide great service. read more

Went for burger Thursday, homemade tater tots and a wide variety of toppings . However, NO KETCHUP, strict policy, WTF??? Food snobs better have the sickest burger in town and it wasn't !!! read more

It had probably been 5 years since my last visit to Swoon and boy did I miss it. First off I love the layout and lighting of the restaurant, very warm and welcoming. We started with a plate of mixed olives and a dry Sicilian red wine which was a little spicy but very good. Then the three of us each ordered a different fish entree; fluke, blue fish and salmon. All three were delicious, I had the salmon which sat atop beats and was cooked medium rare. The entrees are all just south of $30 but were well worth it. We then split some Italian mousse for dessert and I sipped a coffee. I was reminded why I missed this place so much and promise not to stay away this long again. read more

Swoon has great food and terrible service. The kind of service where we left talking about it after the fact. I don't know where the awful attitude comes from (Bad management? Poor hiring?) but it's a shame because the chefs are truly talented. There are plenty of other restaurants in downtown Hudson with lovely staff and comparable food. read more

I have no idea why this place only has 3.5 stars. Coming from NYC, this food is on par with any of the delicious restaurants we have. Ambience was wonderful. Very cozy and chic farm-like, which is what I want when I go upstate! Everything was incredible fresh. The pastas were incredible. I would highly recommend all the vegetable sides. I'll definitely be back. read more

The three of us had high expectations for this restaurant, but were disappointed. The fried green tomatoes were cut much too thick. The corn risotto was highly touted by waitress, but was not good. The farro salad was ordinary, with not enough farro. The pesto fusilli was good. The lemon genoise desert tasted like dry cornbread. I ordered a Sazerac and it was served with ice (yuck). The restaurant was so loud that I accidentally ordered another one (because I misheard what the waitress asked me). The crispy artichokes were the best thing we had, but not worth the rest. read more

It's become a ritual dinner for my wife and I usually Friday night... Never fails to be outstanding in every measure of a restaurant

The workers are sweet and the food is awesome. They use great quality ingredients for everything. Burger night definitely boasts one of the best in town and Meatless Monday is always great too (they do have a regular menu too, but the Monday menu is a great deal.) read more

My boyfriend and I went to Swoon Kitchenbar on Valentine's Day weekend, during our stay at a local B&B on Warren St. The restaurant was spacious and well-decorated, with a romantic vibe. The waitress was especially helpful in making recommendations throughout the meal - the steak entree and butter cake dessert were phenomenal and definitely did not disappoint. This was, by far, our favorite meal during our stay in Hudson, New York. read more

Popped in here for a cocktail and an appetizer before heading off to a show at Club Helsinki. The friend that I was with that evening had told me about Swoon and so we decided to check it out. Very chic, Brooklynesque ambience going on here. It is one of the many high end, farm to table restaurants that now dot the streets of the recently rebounded town of Hudson, it really is a great town to visit these days with so many unique dining and shopping experiences. As a matter fact the whole town is starting to feel like an upstate version of a Brooklyn neighborhood. The menu at Swoon changes on a daily basis utilizing as many local/seasonal products as possible. We shared the Country Pate and I had a special bourbon cocktail that was on the nightly menu. We really didn't have a lot of interactions with the staff, the bartender was friendly but he was also extremely busy as the bar was packed with locals and visitors. I do look forward to going back again one day soon to enjoy a complete meal. read more

I am now a devotee. Loved my dinner Friday. The cod with sausage was so delicious and innovative accompanied by the best broccoli. My friend loved the bluefish. I yearn for the best Margarita I Ever had. This is a gem!!! Cannot wait to return. The service could not have been better and Kim the hostess was beyond nice. I can't wait to return read more

I liked this place a lot. Interesting dishes, and friendly service. We went during a slow lunch hour - I've heard it can get crowded at dinner .... We ordered the oysters and a unique pickled vegetable dish w/ pork belly that I'd highly recommend. Another fave was the kale salad which had a crispiness to it that added great flavor. Got the steak and eggs as well and they were pleasant about substituting the fries w/ greens .... Decent drink menu and friendly people. I'd go back for sure. read more

Very good dinner here tonight. Heirloom tomato salad with house burrata, super bluefish pâté, excellent grilled swordfish and squid. Service was prompt and unobtrusive, as it should be. Would be happy to return. Only cavil--clumsy bowl-like cocktail glass. read more

Crispy artichokes, yes please! The aioli dipping sauce just as good, there wasn't a drop left! Shared the spaghetti with clams and the pork loin- both were delicious. We're had a really quick dinner and were in and out in well under an hour. I would like to go back during lunch to try a few more dishes and just relax a bit to soak up the ambiance because I didn't pay much attention to it this trip. read more

A really nice place. Waitress was lovely and told us all about Hudson, a really cool town. Had the grilled octopus and a kale salad, shared it with my wife and it was great. The drinks were also real good. Great atmosphere. read more

Went for brunch. Highly recommend Crispy Artichokes and Mushroom omelette! Beautiful decor and hipster vibe and I don't mean that as a negative! read more

We spent a fun week in Hudson and Coxsackie. Hudson city center is lots of fun. Little shops; original, not so original, but certainly entertaining enough for a group with a wide variety of interests. There was something for everyone. Swoon ending up being the best of the finds. Graciously accepting us a little early with our table waiting for us. The atmosphere was hopping, but the service was excellent. I loved the shoestring fries. DELICIOUS. Katsup would have been welcome, especially if you have a well behaved kid;) The pastas were divine. We were 11 and half of us had some form of pasta. Great place in you are veggie. Lots of options. Drinks were visually beautiful and tasty. Certainly worth it. And worth making reservations so you know you can experience this fun, delicious, gracious place to eat on Warren Street. read more

Although the service wasn't impeccable, the food was worth it. The duck liver pate was incredible and well priced. Just about everything was reasonably priced. There wasn't a single thing we didn't enjoy, and we tried a lot! I highly recommend steak, kale, fries and definitely the pate. read more

Had some time to kill before reservation at Crimson Sparrow, so stopped in here for a drink and something to munch on. Sat at the bar--decent sized with some bar tables, too--got my standard negronI which was well-made and picked at a cheese plate. Nice atmosphere, cool space and friendly people. Places like this ubiquitous in Brooklyn, but not in Hudson. Would come back again to try the food. read more

The three of us came late on a Friday night around 9:20 thanks to Amtrak and were pleased by the ambience, decor, and that there were still plenty of patrons. Our waiter was professional, knowledgeable, and deferential; the menu was close to the current online version, with items we were hoping to find, like the crispy artichokes (a hit), caramelized Brussels, roasted cauliflower. We passed these around and the yes votes were unanimous. We also had the pan seared salmon and the house made fusili, and sunchoke risotto. The quality of preparation was high, and i look forward to the next time we are coming through Hudson from the city. read more

Seeing as how most of Hudson's restaurants are spectacular, we had high hopes for Swoon..... and they sincerely let us down. First off, they sat us in front of the door, with no heater. Every time it opened, it was nearly unbearable as it was so cold out. We dined in our jackets and hats. The appetizer was a $14.00 cheese plate, with three small pieces of cheese and 5 crackers. The salads were delicious, however. The dinner was a monstrosity. The steak was way undercooked and chewy, and the stuffed squid was bland, at best. We sent those meals back and were comped for them, which was appreciated. They also gave us mediocre desserts on the house. My dinner companions ordered Tallisker Scotch, which was questionably even the true liquor. The server was okay, albeit slow, but polite and apologetic but after all of our issues and asking to speak to a manager.. guess who never came out? With a nearly $400 bill and unhappy patrons, you'd think management would want to come and apologize. Not a word. Save your money. There are far, far better places than this over-priced waste of good space. read more

Highly recommended. Besides being great chefs, the owners of Swoon do a great job of incorporating local and regional produce into their menus. There is a terrific meatless menu on Mondays, four courses for $25, which is terrific whether you are vegetarian or not. read more

The food deserves 5 stars for sure. Definitely went above expectations and I would totally go there again the next time I'm in town. However, I feel that the intimacy of the restaurant could be improved so that it matched the quality of the amazing food. The booth-type seating isn't very comfortable, and at a table for two, I felt like I was sitting a mile away from my companion. Not the best scenario for a low talker and a mildly-deaf person to have a conversation about anything without a bit of strain. That aside, I think this place is fantastic. Friendly well informed staff, amazing food etc. the dessert so far has been the least impressive on the menu, but we only managed to try the rhubarb strawberry one. Not bad, but not as exceptional as the rest. read more

People are being very hard on this place. Our server Drew was very friendly and helpful, food was amazing! We had the fried artichokes, and rib eye Carpacchio to start. The bone marrow toast with the carpacchio was one of the best items I have ever had. My girlfriend had a bluefish which was fresh with an excellent pesto sauce. My pork chop was excellent, and the house cured bacon was Devine! Will certainly be back and I highly recommend to others. read more

Food, ambience, service and wine all "spot on" this past Saturday for dinner. Likely the most expensive venue in Hudson but worth it. Moxie did a superb job serving the dishes with an excellent description of each. Wish we were closer to the place so we could try Burger night and buck a shuck Friday. Will tell friends about this establishment for sure. Wished that the chef had done a late evening walk by to extend sincere compliments. read more

I often recommend Swoon to NYC friends going to Hudson. It's a cute restaurant and the food is good. Super friendly owner.

We try to eat somewhere different every time in Hudson, the experience at Swoon has just put a wrinkle in that. We did not have a reservation but at 5:45 we got in and had a great table for 4 up front. Service was professional but not stuffy - I was even able to steal (well, borrow) my waiters reading glasses and made to feel that was just like asking a friend for a lend. From the perfect manhattans ( with the ubiquitous dark cherry) and martinis (dry, slightly dirty with 3 slices...) through the last bite - which came too soon....all was well in the world. You have to have the artichokes - fresh, light egg batter and perfectly fried, they are like nothing you have had. The Semolina with fiddleheads, fresh mushrooms, tiny onions and more was done just right, everything had its place and the baby bok choy salad was simple and refreshing. We each had a different large plate- Chipotle pork chops to my right, duck breast and pan seared salmon with peas, pea shoots opposite, and my favorite - the skate with mussels and fingerling potatoes- centered in front of me. Perfectly prepared, perfectly seasoned (all the courses- not too much of anything) - the chef has it down. The price for what we received was right, not inexpensive but for 4, with drinks, 2 courses each- plus what we share, just north of $200.00 ( remember in NY, tax was almost $19.00) We were happy, satisfied and sated. What could be better? read more

i recently ate at Swoon on a Saturday night in a group of four. We were walk ins and the place was packed so we didn't actually sit down to eat until 10pm (kitchen is open til 11pm). The staff was very friendly and set us up in the front next to the bar with a bottle of wine. The food was incredible. I had the pork loin and it was one of the best dishes I've had in years (and I eat out about 4 nights/ week in NYC). There wasn't a single item that we ordered that wasn't absolutely delicious-- down to excellent espresso (minor detail, but I find it often underwhelming in the US and it's the last thing you taste!). To top it all off, the staff is professional but completely down to earth. They're proud of the chef team and of their items on the menu. They knew where things were sourced not with pretention but with pride. Of course I was with great friends which helps, but it was one of the best dining experiences all of us have had in a long time. read more

Wanted to eat at the bar, but sat at a table to keep an eye on our dog, outside. Great ambience. Food was a 4, but service was a 2. Our server was rushed, and not too friendly/helpful. House made pasta with parmesan, speck, and mushrooms was excellent, perfectly chewy pasta. Pork chop was delicious, juicy grilled with cruchy spaetzle. I don't usually eat desert, but the churros were incredible! Light and fluffy, they were great on their own, but also dipped in the warm chocolate sauce with vanilla ice cream. read more

The name got my attention when i came up from Manhattan. Totally looking for a Hudson Valley experience. However right out of the gate, when i went to look for a glass of local wine....NOT ONE :( I was flabbergasted. If i'd wanted French wine, i would've gone to France. Sheesh. Food was fine. I'll make sure i choose restaurants that not only serve local cuisine, but local wines as well. read more

This is a lovely restaurant. Great atmosphere and really elegant dining. The food is inventive and delicious. Been there for occasions and just an ordinary Saturday night. Hudson wouldn't be the same without it! read more

Swoon helped kick off the idea of local good food in Hudson back when it was not such a buzzword and Muck boots were not yet a tired fashion statement. I am happy to rediscover that this Kitchenbar turns out simple, well executed food. There is the perfect mix of healthy and more indulgent choices. We had perfect oysters. Not a culinary achievement I know but they were well curated East Coast briny delicious.. A great take on Tete de Cochon if you are more adventurous. Well cooked duck and salmon. Wait staff are warm, prompt and attentive. So happy to see Swoon just keep rolling along. Here's to many more years. read more

Food was pretty good but service was poor. Upon arrival I noticed my drinking glass had something in it and I had it replaced. My coffee cup had four, four!, chips on the lip of the cup at least two of which could easily be seen and, finally, the door to one of the bathrooms did not lock. Oh, one of the main dishes did not come with the side it was supposed to come with. So, poor service. Having said that, the food that did arrive, and even the coffee I had in the chipped cup, was petty good. read more

Great date night restaurant! Menu is really unique and makes you want to try something new. Great cocktails as well. Overall would recommend if you come to visit Hudson! read more

Food not so great. All veggies, very little meat or fish in the preparation. Flavors very acidic. Chef needs to taste before sending out. Tiny menu. 5 entrees, 6 aps, two pates and 3 salads. Nice room but the hostess argued with us about when we made the res and tried to seat us at the deuce next to the front door in the front room which is Siberia. Wine list is yuge but illegible because it was presented wet and ink-blurred. This place needs some restaurant pros on staff. Three stars out of generosity. Server was nice but new. Didn't know the menu. read more

Good food. Nice setting, cool vibe. Not overly large portions and great flavor. Try sharing a bunch of apps and small portion pastas. Save room for dessert. read more

I definitely do not relish writing poor reviews of places but given the overall positive reviews here (which is what led me to dine here) and the relatively high prices, I feel like an honest review could be helpful to other diners. I was in Hudson alone for a week and decided to treat myself to a nice dinner on my last night and I was so disappointed. My server was really sweet but service was SO SLOW. And unfortunately it is my biggest pet peeve at a restaurant when they just take an eternity for each step (to bring your water, to take your order, to bring your drink, to bring the check). Ironically the one thing that happened quickly was the food coming out. Every dish I ordered was "meh." Sort of made me regret the calories and price of dining out. And then at the end of the night there was a $10 "open food" charge on my bill. I could not, for the life of me, figure out why. Was it for bread? If so, that's ridiculous. I had been there SO LONG though that I just didn't want to deal with it so I paid it and left. I don't want to be mean--it was a beautiful space, and the server was friendly, and maybe I ordered the wrong things--but the fact is I would definitely not go back. read more

Was delicious! Highly recommend the steak and the shoestring fries. The local greens salad was eh but everything else was great and service was top. Would definitely come back again read more
