We spent the weekend at the James Newbury Hotel, and on the recommendation of the front desk, decided to try Patrick Henry's for dinner. We were especially excited to see brick oven pizza on the menu, particularly the Rhode Island pizza, since we grew up eating that style and were looking forward to a little taste of home. The restaurant itself is small, with plenty of outdoor seating and a limited amount of indoor seating. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. The service was extremely slow. It took about 15 minutes just to receive our drinks after ordering, and our food took even longer. I ordered the jalapeño watermelon margarita, which was very strong and packed quite a bit of heat. My husband had an IPA draft beer. For dinner, we ordered the Rhode Island pizza and a pepperoni pizza. After taking his first bite, my husband--who is usually the last person to complain about food--looked at me and said, "This is by far the worst pizza I've had in my life." I had to agree. The pizza was incredibly thin, stiff, and lacked the chewy texture that makes a good pizza crust. The crust itself was completely flavorless. Calling it "Rhode Island pizza" was especially disappointing because authentic Rhode Island pizza is typically served on a focaccia-style crust. This was paper-thin and crispy--it honestly felt like eating pizza on a cracker. When our waitress noticed we hadn't eaten much, we tried to politely let her know the pizza wasn't for us. Rather than asking what was wrong or offering any concern, she simply responded, "Our pizza is amazing." Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience. To be fair, they were operating with a limited menu due to being understaffed, but that didn't excuse the quality of the food or the lack of responsiveness to customer feedback. We were really hoping for a great meal based on the hotel's recommendation, but this was one of the most disappointing pizza experiences we've had. If you're in the area, we'd recommend looking elsewhere. read more

What a really nice place to Eat in Athens, NY right by the water. Food was really delicious though there was a bit of a wait. I had a smash burger and was impressed by the taste, composition of the Pattie and overall presentation. The wedges were good and cooked right...Not soggy but not burnt and overly crispy. It was as good a burger as most good burger places. Sylvana was a nice server. She apologized for the wait as the manager obviously does not know how to staff but that has nothing to do with her service. She was pleasant, attentive within reason (she was the only one back in the back) and did a good job of getting us our meals. The wait though did get all the place to have one star removed but again that was on the manager...Next time get two servers out there. Ambiance is nice but maybe a table to squeezed in on the patio. Inside had more space and was had a nice old rustic look. Awesome meal, great location but poor managerial decision to understaff on a lunch Prevented this from getting a 5...Still, I would definitely come here again. read more

We were looking for a nice spot for lunch after shopping in Coxsakie and decided on Patrick Henry's. The interior and exterior of the restaurant is beautiful and has a modern meets old-world industrial feel. We were promptly greeted and seated by the hostess and she informed us our server would be right over. We sat there for 15 minutes and received no service. The restaurant wasn't even busy. One or two tables inside/outside were occupied and a couple customers at the bar. Staff were too busy rolling silverware, and putting away glassware. The bartender and chef were pretty much the only ones taking care of customers. My wife got up to use the restroom and noticed two burgers sitting in the hot window waiting for delivery and when she returned they were still sitting there. We all agreed this place gave a weird vibe so we decided it would be best to just leave before it gets worse. When we got up to leave, none of the staff said anything or tried to keep us there by initiating service. As we were leaving the burgers were still sitting sadly in the hot window while their customers were left waiting. If I lived in the area, I would be willing to give them another try but I'm visiting from out of town, so it while be a while before that opportunity presents itself. My recommendation is if you do decide to patron Patrick Henry's, grab a seat at the bar because it seems like customers were actually receiving service there. read more

What a beautiful location! Came for my 1st time on a Wednesday around 530 and got seated right away outside. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive. My husband and I got a drink and shared an order of the $5 pickled eggs which came with 4 whole eggs and were tasty. I had the tavern burger with added jalapeños and fries and my husband had the fish and chips with coleslaw. The food was fresh, delicious and all seemed house made. Can't wait to return! read more

My husband, toddler and I had a lovely riverfront meal at Patrick Henry's! Service was very friendly and fast and we really enjoyed the ambiance on the deck with the view. I asked for a cider and was informed by the wonderful server that there were many kinds of ciders to choose from. All were very unique! I got strawberry rhubarb and it was delicious. This is a really great spot for dinner and drinks. The outdoor seating has the best view in town, the service is great, and the pizzas are very good. The only downside we've noticed is the timing of the food coming out - if someone in your party orders pizza, they tend to be waiting a while after everyone else's food has already come to the table. read more

I had a black cherry mojito that was probably one of the best cocktails I have ever had. We order a pizza, an appetizer and a salad to share and everything was good. The young man who waited on us was absolutely charming and we just had the best time. It was the beginning of a girls weekend and really was a great way to start. What a little gem this is. We arrived right when they opened on a Friday afternoon . The seating doesn't really leave much to be desired for but I loved for the 2 of us that we had a big table . I started off with the Aperol Spritz. The cocktails are delicious and pleasing to the eye. We then ordered a salad to share, wings medium and tomato pie. The salad came with house dressing which was very good . The wings are on the smaller side which we love because most restaurants do not know how to properly cook "jumbo" wings . Even so, these wings were very good but could have been crisped up a little more . Finally, the pizza comes and it was perfect . I gave only 4 stars because zero views of the river , no coffee and dessert menu and the wings needed a little more . We will most certainly return though . read more

First time visit to Patrick Henry's and it was during Greene County Restaurant Week. Place was very busy for a Tuesday but we were seated immediately and we didn't have a reservation. We were greeted by an energetic and super friendly waitress (forgot the name) and were given both the normal menu and the Restaurant week offerings. We ordered a round of drinks including a Utica Club. For apps, my wife got the crispy cauliflower bites, I get smoked winds and an order of fries for our son. The fries came with bacon bits, blue cheese and other toppings but the waitress said he could have them plain so that was a great bonus. The cauliflower was amazing, tasting like General Tsos chicken and served in a skillet with tiny peppers. The wings were different and enjoyable and even the fries were great. I orderded the Ultimate-Roni pizza and they drizzle honey on it for a unique sweetness. Cooked perfectly as well and full of pepperoni. Our son had a plain cheese pizza (not in the menu but again this amazing waitress accommodated him). My wife had the meatloaf special with mashed potatoes. Not the prettiest dish in the world but very good and the mashed potatoes were a star! Her special came with dessert so her and the boy shared the peanut butter cheesecake. Each gave a thumbs up. Stopped in during an afternoon visit to the re-awakened Coxsackie. We love visiting this charming River town with really nice people. Patrick Henry's is a pub that's informal and welcoming yet, with plenty of lovely refinements to please everyone. We only stopped in for drinks this time and ---oh my! We chose the New School G & T" that made with Mermaid Gin, kumquat syrup, lime juice, Fever Tree Tonic. It comes garnished with a grapefruit wedge. Imagine one of the best gin and tonics that you've ever had. Now, add to that picture that you are sitting outside with beautiful view of green space and the Hudson River. Ahhhhhh.... The pizza Florentine was tasty. It was made quickly and the crust was thin and crispy. The service was attentive. However the menu options were limited and they don't have coffee. Was there for lunch after a chilly vigorous hike and would have appreciated a warming reviving cup of coffee. Probably won't return be returning unless it's just for a cocktail. read more

What a fun spot! I met a friend at Patrick Henry's and we both really enjoyed it. The staff was super friendly and attentive, and service was quick and efficient. My friend ordered the wings and was really happy with them! We each ordere a pizza, I got the margherita and she got the ultra-roni. We both enjoyed! I was expecting the mozz to be differen but it was still really enjoyable. The sauce was flavorful and I REALLY enjoyed the crust - it was thin and perfectly crispy. Let me tell you about the nutella empanadas. Wow. Just wow. Perfectly fried, perfectly stuffed with nutella. The only not perfect thing is it comes with 3 and I'd prefer like 10 or so but alas. And only $6! You must get these. I sincerely hope these are never taken off the menu. We sat outside and while it was windy and pretty chilly, I still really enjoyed it. The inside seems pretty small but has a good sized bar. Restroom was clean. I'll certainly make the drive from Albany to Coxsackie to visit Patrick Henry's again! read more

Normally, when I think of Coxsackie, New York, I don't think of dining establishments, but I am so glad that Patrick Henry's has opened here! Like with any new restaurant, there are always going to be things that need to be worked through when they first open, but I really love everything about this place and what they have done so far. Waterfront dining, a really warm and welcoming staff, an elevated beverage program and great upscale pub food at a very reasonable price across-the-board. This place really is a hidden gem, as word gets out. I think it is going to get even more busy, especially with the event center next door and the hotel opening in the near future. read more

The building is historically interesting, located next to the river in an area of small shops, a local hotel, few eateries and a lovely riverside park. The food was good but pricey ;for example, the pizza had a very thin crust and nice flavors, but it was expensive for it's small size. And surprisingly the place doesn't serve coffee. Of the 2 sided menu, one side lists drinks and the other a limited selection of food options. On the plus side, our waitress was attentive and friendly. Probably wont be returning. read more

I finally had the opportunity to try Patrick Henry's tonight; I'm sorry I waited so long! I had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, which came with thick cut seasoned fries. Everything about the sandwich was excellent. It was a huge thigh, cooked to perfection with a light yet crispy coating. It was served on a soft, flavorful, delicious bun. I couldn't even tell you what kind of sauce was on the sandwich, but it was really good. All the flavors really worked together. The thick cut seasoned fried were really good also. The hostess/server (sorry I didn't get her name) was friendly and courteous. I also had the pleasure speaking with the manager, Poppy... Had a smash burger....meh. Nasty oversized greasy fries. Bland, uninspiring not at all impressive. Sam Adams Summer Ale on tap had a little dishwater overtone. Service was enthusiastic but not quite professional or adequate. If it wasn't for the glass not being well rinsed and a weak beer selection I might go back. We went to Patrick Henry's on the recommendation of our hotel after learning that our first-choice restaurant was closed on Sunday nights (sob!). But it turned out great. Patrick Henry's is an unpretentious, lively local joint with surprisingly excellent food. We split the Crispy Cauliflower (excellent; but avoid the little red peppers unless you really like it hot) and the Caesar Salad (with real anchovies; the night before, I ate a Caesar that was not nearly as good, for twice the price). That would have been enough food for two hungry people had we known how big the portions were. But we had already ordered the Puttanesca Pizza, which was enormous. It was so good my husband ate two pieces--even though he was stuffed!--while I had a yummy sliver. Looking forward to finishing that pizza for lunch tomorrow! The drinks were also good: a perfectly made Hendricks martini for my husband and a Yuzu Lemon Drop for me. This was our second trip to Patrick Henry's. Not sure we will come back.We arrived before the dinner rush. We ordered a wedge salad and pizza. Our wedge salad and cocktails arrived promptly. After waiting for more 30 minutes and seeing pizzas delivered to people who ordered after us, we had to ask where was our pizza. We were finally told there was a "mix up" with our order, i.e. it went to another table. Bottom line, after 2 hours, we left with a pizza to go. read more

What a missed opportunity! This tavern is in a prime riverfront location, a captive audience from the next door hotel , a good menu and great bar options and execution. But that's where it ends ... service is terrible - we sat for a good 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging our presence while wait staff was standing around . I had to ask the host to send a wait staff our way. Service at this place means barely paying attention to the customer - take their order, deliver the food, bring the check. The pizza has the potential with great options but again, execution was terrible - the crust was burnt and dried , it cracked as soon as lifted from the tray. The mushroom was so dry, there was no taste left Yeah it's one of the few restaurants in this cute riverfront town so they know they don't even need to try. But beware of what you can expect ... a quick 28 min drive can get you a very different meal quality and service. read more

Last night we took some family members from out of town to Patrick Henry's. It was 7 pm and there were several tables available, so we were seated immediately. Let me begin by saying, that we have eaten here many times and thought this would be a good choice for a casual place to eat. Our waitress, barely greeted us, and walked pass our table numerous times before she finally took our order, which I had to tell her to do so. She did not smile once, the entire evening. Our appetizers came in a reasonable amount of time, but our main courses took over an hour! i don't know if there was a new chef in the kitchen or not, but our food was far from good. Our son's remark was " we are not going back there again". The meatball wedges , were basic, we don't think they were freshly made. The pizzas we ordered, Florentine, Four cheeses and sausage and ham were not anything to write e about. Sorry to say, it will be a very long while before heading back to Patrick Henry's to eat. read more

We enjoyed the General Tso's Cauliflower wings and Hot Buffalo wings. Bother were delicious. We also had the Signature burgers, which were tasty and satisfying. My daughter and I had lunch here on 11/4/23. It was a great experience from start to finish. I had my first espresso martini and it was amazing. We both had smash burgers with fries. The food was delicious and the portions were big enough that we had half of our meal for dinner. I wish I had gotten our waitress' name because she could not have been more attentive or sweet. On the evening of Friday September 22, we had the pleasure of dining with fellow AYC (Albany Yacht Club) members on the second floor glass enclosed porch of the tavern that presented great views of the Hudson River and other surroundings. The menu offerered many fine selections and we chose the "smasburger" that was prepared to perfection. Our waitresses were very cordial and did a fine job of accomodating our group. For a after dinner treat tavern owner Aaron Flach graciously permitted our group a tour of his recently completed beautifull convention/reception hall and hotel facilities. These facilities and their unique surroundings are a "must see" for anyone planning a wedding reception and/or other event. A special "thank you" to both Debbie Lagas fellow club member and tavern owner Aaron Flach for such a delightfull dinner occassion. We plan to return with friends. read more

This place had elevated bar food and had a very nice ambience. The staff was friendly, but doesn't necessarily know who Patrick Henry was when I asked our young server (lol). We got the fried cauliflower bites which were good at first but after a few, the taste got to be a lot. We also got the chicken wings which should've been fried or baked or something that would've made them not slimy. The dry rub on the wings was delish, but after a few it got a little too salty. Overall, food was 5/10. We really wanted to try the fried chicken sandwich but they were sold out so maybe other things are a little bit better. We saw pizzas come out, and they looked burned so we didn't order those but maybe they're fine because many people were ordering them. The ambience was nice with nice details indoors and a nice outside deck and a band playing on it. If they can improve some of their food, they might be a huge hit! read more
