This was our favorite meal in Hudson Valley! The staff was great tool. We also love the ambiance, beautiful historic building. The pasta and the duck dishes were incredible (so much flavor) and the desserts we had were unreal. We appreciated the hookup with the desserts too! They kindly let us try more than one as we couldn't make up our minds! This place was everything I wanted out of a farm to table restaurant in Hudson Valley! The menu changes often, we had the August summer menu. Shout out to Addison & Tim for being such amazing servers! Very reasonably priced too! read more

We arrived with a reservation we had made on the phone for 7:15. We did not check on it before we came, which we should have done. After a loooong ride to get here we found DID NOT have a reservation, we waited, standing near the door for one hour before being seated, it was chaos in the front, very disorganized, very frustrating. The staff were working very hard but there was no forward movement. When we finally sat to eat the food was delicious, our server was excellent but no apologies, no comping of a drink or desert, no relief from the chaos. I'm not sure we'd go back, but if we did we would TRIPLE CHECK our reservation before the 90 minute drive. read more

It feels like home. Super friendly atmosphere, great food! The only misfire is the fact that ketchup on hamburger night is apparently forbidden and I personally don't like to be told that it's not allowed. Why??? Don't you want to make your customers happy by giving them what would please them? read more

We enjoyed this upscale spot. In a town with limited option, this is one of the better ones. The hanger steak was great. Highly recommend order a few 1/2 orders of their pasta options to try more than one. Nice staff, clean and nice space. read more

I've been here many times. There was a time when they were exceptional, that time has passed. They are simply surviving on their reputation. The wine list is still great and the food is "good". The service is horrible. The hostess and the serving staff clearly do not want to be there. My date a had simple appropriate question about the menu and the waitress became confrontational. read more

Had the greatest New Years Eve Dinner at Swoon last night. This restaurant always delivers with inventive specials that fit the season, prepared perfectly. I selected the four course menu, starting with Pate de Campagne (that's country pate for you) the squid ink risotto with scallops, duck breast for an entree - this came with duck sausage, enoki, hijiki carrots and a cashew butter ...such a tasty flavor profile! My date loved her Dayboat Scallop Crudo with yuzu, miso and pickled vegetables (I stole two bites and concur - delicious!). She chose the pan roasted salmon, which was perfectly cooked, just past rare, with a celery root puree, roasted fennel and frisée, topped with an orange ginger sauce. This was just an amazing combination. "A very exciting salmon dish" according to my date. And for dessert? The most amazing apple crostata (compliments to the very talented pastry chef!). A perfect way to ring in the New Year. Thank you to the lovely staff and the chef! read more

We had dinner at Swoon one night on our recent visit in Hudson, but were a bit let down. Here's our experience. Although the staffs were really friendly but I found the service subpar. We had to flag down our server to ask for refill on water 3 times during our meal. Also witnessed another wait staff dropped a plate of new dish on the table next to us. We had high expectation but found our entrees mediocre. We start off with the Cheese Plate, and the Crispy Artichokes was pretty good. The Halibut Cheek was not bad I did enjoy it, but hubby thought the Duck Breast was bland. For dessert we shared the Flourless Chocolate Cake which was meh. We got the bill and there was a double charge on one of the item. When point that out all our server said was "okay" then proceed to correct the check. Wow, really? I really want to love this place, good vibes and inviting atmosphere, sadly our experience on that night wasn't too pleasant. read more

Restaurant in Hudson - great location, near shops and plenty of street parking available. Required a reservation; however, we did have a large group of people. Restaurant not busy for a Saturday night. Service was quick; however, our waitress, Diane, was unpleasant. She was condescending and was not accommodating (snarky comments, didn't clear silverware, or dirty plates). Saw ants on the windowsill, but not on the table. Food and drinks were great and YUMMY; unfortunately, was not the vibe. Menu was confusing in regards to what was an appetizer versus entree (condescending comments were made). Would come back if we had better service. read more

Extremely Disappointing Experience I had a very disappointing experience at Swoon Kitchenbar in Hudson. After consulting their online menu, I was excited to try several items -- but when I arrived, one after another was unavailable. The watermelon tomato salad was "out of season," the burrata was sold out, and the corn risotto was also unavailable. The only alternative was a spiced squash risotto, which the server said wasn't very spicy and that I could return if I didn't like it. I took one bite and it was truly unpleasant, so I sent it back. I then asked to order the house-made spaghetti, but it included almonds, and because I have a nut allergy, I requested it be prepared without them. The server returned to say that the chef and owner refused to modify the dish in any way. I tried a grapefruit margarita, which was $15 and tasted terrible -- harsh with alcohol and made with syrup or liqueur rather than fresh grapefruit juice. I didn't finish it. I later submitted polite feedback through the restaurant's website form and through the reservation system, requesting a refund for the drink. No one ever responded. To make matters worse, I had driven all the way from Baltimore, Maryland to Hudson, New York and ended up leaving without a meal. Even a simple slice of bread wasn't available unless I ordered a full "bread board," which feels unnecessarily inconvenient for a single diner. Overall, Swoon's lack of menu transparency, poor customer service, and unwillingness to accommodate a basic allergy made this a truly disappointing experience. I will not be returning and cannot recommend it. read more

Lose a star for the service. We did a weekend trip to Hudson celebrating a friends birthday. Our server was spaced out and she kept forgetting us, had to flag her to come take our order, bring our drinks and to get our check. Once we finally got our check, we were charged for two cocktails we didn't drink. Another 15 mins added to get a corrected bill. What a mess! The food however was pretty good. We enjoyed the cheese plate, fried artichokes, trout special dish and monkfish paired with a bottle of Sancerre. I'd come back here for a meal any day if their service was better. read more

Pretty surprised this restaurant doesn't have higher reviews because my experience was great. If you're look for a great burger in Hudson, this is where you come. Swoon is a bit of a hidden gem. The menu is eclectic but has an appreciable focus on each dish. The hanger steak was a uniform medium rare with a delicate spice rub that was complimented by the potato mash, the pan sauce was honestly unecessary with the steak standing for itself. The paparadelle is also a must, nice toothsome noodles with a rich and bold bolognese no notes. read more

Great overall experience!! We had just hiked around Olana which was 10 minutes away and we were HUNGRY which does help. I will say service wasn't overbearing by any means but the staff was personable, detailed, efficient, and genuine! We ended up having a 3 course lunch, everything was delicious. If I could give a zero start review I would. I went to this restaurant at a time when the restaurant was virtually empty. 1) We were placed on top of the service area looking at dirty dishes despite the fact that the entire restaurant was empty 2) Our server was one of the most surly people that I have had the displeasure of coming across and worst of all 3) they tried to serve us a warm bottle of $88 white wine. Then when we complained they basically said that because they opened the tepid bottle of wine, we were stuck with it. It would have taken 30 mins to chill it to a drinkable level. We basically got them to cork the bottle, cancel our order and then promptly left. We went around the corner to the Maker where they comped us a free meal as an apology even though it had nothing to do with them. They didn't want us to have a bad opinion of Hudson! Shame on you Swoon, really low class experience. Learn from your neighbors. read more

What a gem! Let's start with the amazing and friendly staff - what a breath of fresh air to be greeted as soon as we stepped in and treated so nicely. The bread board and cheese board were fantastic and we will be craving it along with one of the wonderful bottles of wine. The homemade pasta was cooked perfectly. We also took part in perfectly seasoned clams. Can't wait to go back and try more If you are a foodie, this is one place you certainly do not want to miss. read more

I ordered the Heathy Margarita that was on the menu and was asked if I wanted salt and my response was no. The drink showed up with salt on the rim, not a big deal I just wiped it off and took a sip and it's pure salt water. Absolutely disgusting. The servers response was she misheard me. Who puts that much salt in the drink regardless of what was heard? Risotto also missed the mark. An unfortunate end to an otherwise lovely day in Hudson. read more

The food was fine, and the ambiance pleasant, but, at a restaurant in this price range, I expect reasonably professional service. We had to ask for our water glasses to be refilled each time they were empty, even after our server came to the table when they were empty and left without filling them. I asked two different servers for salt and pepper, and both of them stood chatting about their lives at the bar for five minutes before I asked again and they finally produced the salt. When the server spilled my coffee into the saucer, instead of getting a clean saucer, she put a paper napkin in the saucer, and left it there, soggy and dripping, under my coffee cup. Their manner was generally short and unfriendly. When a service problem is this pervasive, I don't blame the individual servers. They obviously weren't trained properly and the restaurant doesn't prioritize customer care. In a town with many excellent restaurants, I won't choose this one again. read more

Having tasted other people's food I know that I made a mistake. I tell you this cautionary tale so that you don't order the salmon pate. It is overly fishy and doesn't register on the flavor scale. However the service was great and the ambiance was swoon worthy...see what I did there. read more

New Year's Eve dinner for two. Wow. Exceptional duck confit (we both ordered it and glad we did)! Would've appreciated some green salad with it at the $35 price tag but it was worth it. The chicken liver mousse with pickled red onion and crostini was also very tasty. I would recommend the Health Margarita as we ordered two and the table next to us also ordered it. The tie-breaking exciting dish was the Chocolate Bomb (next to the duck)!! I love dessert and this was a joy to eat. My boyfriend got the Tarte Tatin and he loved every bite as well. Service started out rough but at the end it got better. read more

Decided to stop in for dinner a little spontaneously. We're told you really need reservations, so we sat at the bar. An older gentleman was the bartender, nice but not attentive. We kept having to stop him for service and to order. Wasn't super hungry, however, really was drawn to the side Beet salad and wanted to add protein. The bartender said no we cannot do that. (Weird). I ordered it anyway plus the Salmon dinner plate. The beet salad was amazing, exceptional flavor! It did not disappoint. The salmon was pretty good, too. My girlfriend got the oysters for an appetizer and loved them. *Apparently if you go at happy hour (4-6pm) Oysters are $1 each!* She ordered the bok choy plate and enjoyed that as well. We also ordered the childcare cake and it was just 'meh. Really small and a tad dry. Nice atmosphere, but not sure I would hurriedly return. read more

Ambiance was very nice. Food was good. The crème brûlée was amazing. Nice wine selection. Beet salad was good, and bok choy was also good. My husband liked the steak dish. It was not a great start as we asked for a table not right next to where all the waitresses were congregated and chatting in a completely empty restaurant and the young woman that was the hostess had a bit of an attitude. No hello, no goodbye, very curt. It's such an easy fix and would make the place so much more inviting. Good customer service can go a long way in attracting and retaining customers. read more

Swoon is one of the longest standing restaurants in Hudson and by far my favorite restaurant. It's warm, inviting, the bar is beautiful and the servers are so nice. Unlike other places in the area, there's nothing pretentious about it. Love that they serve miller lite in a can and also have delicious cocktails and wine list. Life is about balance, right? Carpaccio is insanely good. The quality of the meat is *chefs kiss*. I can't go there without getting the chicken liver mousse. I've been here dozens of times and it's consistently amazing. I've never had a bad experience here. The house made pasta is delicious. I really can't say enough about Swoon. Thanks for being a quality neighborhood staple for all these years! read more

It is a cute place but most of the staff was rather rude and somewhat confused about where we should wait for our table, despite having reservations we just kept getting shuffled around. I cannot speak highly enough of the service and menu at Swoon Kitchenbar. We had our family rehearsal dinner there before our wedding. The space itself is gorgeous, light-filled and classy. The restaurant generously permitted us to book two tables for a large party, and the entire wait staff was beyond friendly, courteous, and warm to us. Diane, Mark, and Lisa did not stop checking in all night. They kept the wine flowing and were constantly touching base to check and see if anyone in their family needed anything. The food was absolutely delicious. Every single dietary restriction was easily catered to and the portions were generous. The variety on the menu and the freshness of the pasta (and OYSTERS) was exquisite. This was the best case scenario of a dining experience and I will absolutely be back. I am so grateful for their top-tier service; it made our night outstanding. read more

Had a great dinner with my wife. Food was excellent atmosphere was great. Drinks were amazing, just all around. Great time.

Stopped in for brunch. Socially distanced indoor dining felt safe. The burger was well seasoned but probably the winner was the crunchy tots. The egg sandwich was a big hit, salad well dressed. The bacon was devine! The artwork in the restaurant and design of the dining room was gorgeous. Would definitely recommend. read more

I really wanted the food here to be great! First dining experience in Hudson and as it wasn't too far from where we were staying we decided to give it a try. My favorite thing was the wine we ordered. Half bottle of a beautiful Sancerre. Other than that, nothing stood out. We ordered the bread described on the menu to be baked on premise but it was cold and hard. The veggies were a bit over done and maybe because most restaurants are closed out here Mon-Tues they don't put much into the service.. but yea. Wouldn't place this spot the places to go list. read more

While the photos of Swoon had me wanting to try it the reviews of Swoon suggested I'd be better off not. Then, when a popular, swanky place nearby had no seating and a shopgirl elsewhere recommended Swoon I threw caution to the wind. It was just a couple of drinks and I'd already tempered my expectations. The cocktails at the bar proved fine, no more-no less. The service level was sufficient if lacking warmth or welcome. When I went to the back to use the restroom I was relieved I'd done my homework. As attractive as the restaurant had appeared in photos, the dining area was one I'd not have enjoyed owing to the fact that there were a lot of children present, with all of the associated mess that entails. The place had looked more upscale until I went towards the back and I was happy to have limited my monetary damages to cocktails. Swoon Kitchenbar wouldn't really be my first choice for cocktails or dinner in Hudson but if forced I'd agree to cocktails at the bar. Anything more and you're missing out on something better in town. read more

Took a weekend trip up to Hudson and tried to get a reservation at feast and floret with no success. Had to look up other options in the area walkable from our Airbnb and the menu at Swoon caught our eye. We got a table on a Thursday evening easily (there was still quite a crowd) place was very charming. They had an impressive wine list. My date and ordered oysters and a roasted squash salad to start. The salad was so good, something you want to remember to try and make at home. Then for our main we ordered the salmon and the steak. I'm not big on mustard which the salmon was cooked in but it was the perfect complimenting flavor to the dish. The steak was exceptional, tender and marinated to perfection and the mashed potato side was creamy, the perfect mashed texture. We wanted to stay for dessert but had no room whatsoever. Only reason I'm docking a star was the seating was very small/no where to put my purse. I understand it's all aesthetic purposes but I'd usually prefer a more comfortable seating situation. We would definitely come back here the next time we're in town tho, need to try a few more items! read more
