I was really disappointed with my experience at this BBQ spot. The food itself was good, but the way they handle their happy hour specials completely ruined the vibe. Apparently, if you want to order the happy hour food specials, you're required to sit at the bar. If you're at a regular table--even if there are plenty open--you're out of luck. This policy makes zero sense from a customer standpoint. Not everyone wants to squeeze into a bar seat just to get a discounted appetizer. Some people come with friends, family, or kids and would prefer to sit at a table and actually relax. For a restaurant that has the space, it feels unnecessarily restrictive and honestly a little unwelcoming. It also puts the staff in an awkward position because they have to constantly explain the rule to confused customers. A good happy hour should make people want to stay longer and order more, not make them feel like they're being forced into a specific seat just to participate. BBQ is supposed to be casual and hospitable. Unfortunately, this place managed to make it feel oddly rigid and inconvenient. There are plenty of other spots that manage happy hour without making customers jump through hoops. read more

After seeing many good reviews and some videos mentioning this place I came in a week ago to try it for myself. I'm a big bbq guy. Grew up in South Carolina , lived in Texas for a few years , Nevada for many years , and now Oklahoma. I've had so many regional bbqs and of course have my favorites of each when it comes to how the meats are prepared , rubs , sauces , sides , etc. I got a 2 Meat Plate consisting of Pork Ribs , Brisket , Baked Beans , Grits , and Sweet Tea. They had a Beef Rib Special and I should've gotten that. The table beside me 2 guys got it and myself and another table of guests were asking them about how good it was and looking at how huge they were. My Pork Ribs were skinny and kind of short in length. The meat had decent flavor , but were kind of dry. They have 5 different bbq sauces to choose from and I liked the Jalapeño on the ribs the best. Also I only got 3 ribs with the plate. Being as small as they were 4 would've been more appropriate. I got one slice of Brisket. It was decent size with some fat. It had a good smoke ring , but was a little lacking on the flavor and half was moist and other half a tad dry. The Sweet Red Bbq Sauce I liked best on the Brisket. If I would've gotten Pulled Pork the Mustard Bbq would've been my choice because the Vinegar Bbq Sauce was too weak and I prefer Vinegar with a good kick on my Pulled Pork. The Alabama I didn't like at all. One place in Las Vegas I went to a couple times surprisingly had a very good Alabama White Bbq Sauce. Baked Beans with pieces of brisket was okay , a little firm but not hard and not mushy. Grits were a disappointment. They could've been cooked a little longer , they weren't quite done yet. Sweet tea was fine. They have a large dining area , bar , and a semi- outdoor dining area. The restaurant was very clean and decorated nicely. My server was nice and informative. They have some cute small pies for dessert and several craft beers to choose from. They also give a 10 percent Military Discount. I would like to try again on my next visit. I'm a Pulled Pork Guy so I need to try it and of course one of those giant Beef Ribs. For my first visit it was okay , but didn't live up to the hype I've heard. Party of four went for late lunch/early dinner. We were warmly greeted by the staff. We ordered the family plate, 1/2 rack of ribs, extra brisket, pork rind nachos, fried pickles, banana pudding, and pecan pie. The pork rind nachos is a must try (whoever thought of this menu item is a genius)! I appreciate how anyone and everyone on staff was helpful...not the typical "that's not my table" attitude. We stopped by here to try some BBQ. They have a huge selection of meats and sides. We got the Smoked pork belly sandwich which comes with a side. For the side we got beans with brisket. In addition to that we also got a side sampler since the sides all sounded great. For the side sampler we got potato salad, hash and rice, corn pudding, Mac & cheese. The smoked pork belly was really good. Of the 5 sides, I liked the mac & cheese and corn pudding the best. Amazing bbq restaurant! The wings were excellent - we tried the hot honey and blue, the garlic buffalo, and hot honey mustard. But phew, were they spicy! Have some water on hand. I also don't have the strongest spicy tolerance. I got the beef brisket plate which came with two sides so I got the mac and cheese (creamy and flavorful) and the baked potato salad (not really my favorite, it tasted different than a traditional potato salad). The Housemade sausage was excellent but also very spicy for me. I enjoyed trying samples of sides people ordered at the table: the corn pudding was so yummy and addictive, and the hash and rice was so flavorful. The dining area was very casual, with brick walls and some booths and mostly metal chairs with wooden tables. They have a party room that can be rented for parties. Service here was attentive. You can also purchase their sauces to take home. It was great to have excellent bbq while on vacation down south! We ordered the special of pastrami sandwich with one side and from regular menu,a 1/2 smoked chicken with 2 sides ( coleslaw and beans with brisket) All tasty. Fabulous open area space with parking right on the street or there is a lot diagonal. After beaten path in Myrtle Beach, it's not swarmed by tourists and you can comfortably get a seat even at 6:30pm. Our waiter came right over and was attentive throughout our entire meal. Being that we were 4 we decided to get the family style platter. Skipped appetizers. For our sides we picked the collard greens, mac & cheese, and the coleslaw. Unfortunately, we could not eat the collard greens as they were simply too sour with vinegar. It could just be our taste, but we are not used to collard greens so just throwing it out there. The mac and cheese was so good we had to order extra to go. They bake it so there were those delicious pieces of topping amongst the creamy sauce. Coleslaw was also delicious. As for the stars of the dish the ribs took first place amongst our group. Ordered half a rack to go to eat at a later time because they were that good. The brisket was buttery soft and you could taste the meat. Flavorful and tender. The pork belly was my personal favorite. Half our party loved the wings whereas others rated them lower down. Turkey and pulled pork also amazing. Most of our group do not like a turkey but smoking it add a delicious dimension of flavor and moisture. Finishing in last place was the sausage. Fourteen hours. From New York to South Carolina. Fourteen hours of Are we there yet?, snack wrappers, and trying not to throw hands over the aux cord. We had the whole circus: me, the wife, our kids, their significant others, and enough emotional baggage to check at the gate. But Lord have mercy, the second we rolled up to this BBQ joint, all that family tension just melted like cheese on a hot biscuit. First of all, the meat. Brisket that pulled apart smoother than my credit score after Christmas. Ribs so tender they made my brother-in-law stop talking mid-bite. And the pulled pork? That pig did NOT die in vain. But here's where it got holy: the sauces. Sweet, tangy, spicy, mustardy--every table had a little rainbow of flavor salvation. I started dipping fries in 'em just to keep taste-testing. Pretty sure I'd put one of 'em on my cereal if no one was watching. The portions? Hefty. Like, bring-a-wheelbarrow hefty. The beer? Colder than your ex's texts. The vibes? Laid back, full bellied, and borderline spiritual. We laughed, we drank, someone might've proposed (hard to say, we were all in a food fog). My first visit to Swig & Swine was an accident. I Googled best deli subs in MB and it came up as the #1 restaurant on Trip Advisor. Got here only to find out it was a BBQ restaurant! That notwithstanding, the food was fantastic!! I had the Smoked Brisket Burger special and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had. My wife got the smoked turkey sandwich and it was excellent as well - moist, tender, and generously portioned. The sides and sauces were noteworthy too. Was excited to be back in the area and had a craving for BBQ, typically we go to Lewis in Charleston but we were staying the night in Myrtle and heeded the recommendation of this spot. It was the best decision! In a nice little strip of town there was ample parking in front of the restaurant which was more than ample as well. Stopping in during off season it was pretty empty and we were greeted and seated with ease. Our waitress an older woman was so amazing, she was friendly, thorough and very pleasant. We ordered beers and the 2 meat plate of beef brisket, pulled pork, fries and corn pudding. Everything was delicious and perfectly portioned for 2 and the price was fair. Came from out of state. Open table for more than 30 minutes so we thought it was for someone else. Hostess finally seated us at the same table that was open. Others in line seemed frustrated as well. We observed the hostess and the bartender wipe down some tables and with the same dirty rag used it to remove the top of the sauces and cleaned them off. Glad it wasn't our table. However the waitress we got made up for all of it. She was very knowledgeable, super friendly, attentive and upbeat! I hope she didn't have to share her tip because she deserved all of it!!! The location is somewhat off the beaten path and not on the main thoroughfare. Plenty of parking street side although S&S is competing with the neighborhood tavern. Plenty of seating in the restaurant and this night (as our luck) they were short servers causing confusion on who was taking us. Getting a little on edge I contemplated on walking out but my better half pumped the brakes. This pause payed dividends as our food was terrific. We had the two-meat platter (Turkey & pulled pork) with two sides (Cole slaw and Mac) and got some greens also. Those greens were banging and my smoked Turkey was super moist and the best I've had. Desert we got the Blueberry Bread Pudding which was very tasty. I will say that all restaurant workers were rolling. Fix the service and this is an easy 5 on Yelp. read more

Great southern BBQ joint in MB. It is located off of the beaten path and there's diagonal parking along the street. This could be an issue if super busy. Not sure of other areas to park in the vicinity. We went around 4pm and didn't have a problem finding a parking spot. The decor is on par with the down home southern BBQ joint theme. Very clean and cute decor. They have a bar area, a dining room (with a few booths), an additional room that could be used for a private gatherings, and an outdoor screened in covered porch. Lots of options. There are multiple sauces that live on each table. The menu isn't extensive, but gives a fabulous selection. You won't have a difficult time finding a good meal or a crafty cocktail. We ordered the pork belly platter, pastrami special sandwich (Friday special), a huge Dino sized beef rib, and a half rack of ribs. You can order meat by the pound without sides or you could make it a platter that comes with sides. There are lots of side options to pick from. We got cole slaw (creamy), baked potato salad, fries, and shells w/cheese. Everything was delicious! Regardless of the meat choice it was tender and moist. You don't need a knife or any sauce. The beef rib was beyond amazing. Pork belly - WOW. Ribs fell off the bone and had a terrific flavor. Pastrami was tender and delicious. Can't recommend just one. Maybe create a game plan where everyone in your group can order a different thing with different sides so you can try all the things. They actually have a family platter that includes a ton of food for only $78 which would be a great way to try lots of things. The portions and quality of the food is well above the reasonable prices. You are getting a bang for your buck. Everything that comes out has some of their pickles and pickled onions on the side. We actually bought some to go. They do have desserts too if you can fit it. We all had a to go box. They do cater! You can also buy the meat and the sides by the pound, quart, etc. Great idea for when you are hosting an event or after a long day at the beach! Grab quarts of meats and sides to take back to your beach house for a super simple and absolutely fantastic meal. This could be a great way to order the family meal with some additional sides. No hassle and super easy way to have a homemade meal after a long day. Service was great. Very attentive and explained the menu, etc. Always checked on us and made sure we had what we needed.
