We decided to try another local establishment for dinner tonight. Our menu consisted of Flounder Baskets (one with baked potato, the other with fries). They said the flounder was good along with the fries, the baked potato was a little under cooked. We also had the Cod in the fish and chips which was very tasty. Their tartar sauce was good. We also ordered a house salad with shrimp which was excellent. The order took awhile as the server was also the bartender and cleaning staff. The menu is pretty extensive and has a great variety of different types of food. If you're in the area, give them a try. read more

This place is not a fancy or high end restaurant. It is located in Longs, about 20 minutes from the ocean. I was surprised to find that they charge $4.50 for a bottle of domestic beer. I can go to ocean front bars and pay less. Murphys on the ocean (MOTO's) only charges $4.25 for a bottle of domestic beer.I know the place is for sell, but if they continue to raise their prices, they are going to price themselves out of business. We love Salt Water Grille. Simple meals that satisfy and friendly staff. We were first excited that they offer Prime Rib Fridays and Saturdays. They started a Thursday night all you can eat BBQ buffet. Ribs, pulled pork, chopped pork and BBQ chicken. The sides change a bit from week to week but favorites like collard greens, sweet potatoes, beans, squash, potato salad, fries and hush puppies are some of the fare as well as rolls and a cobbler or pudding. They have other buffet days (I think Sundays too-check schedule) There is a bar attached and you can eat at either the bar or restaurant side. There is usually the news or sports on the televisions on the restaurant side. In the summer you may need a light sweater as by dinner the air conditioning finally catches up with the heat during the humid summer days. Nice family restaurant read more

This restaurant is designed only for the Caucasian aka White people in the area. They don't respect African American nor Hispanic or Latino..I dined in there for the first time last week and I was treated like my ancestors during the Jim Crow era. I was seated and for a whole hour, I was never checked on, drink cup wasn't filled or even paid any attention. I'm a hard working Black Man and I've never fully had this kind of blatant racism brought directly to me in all the days of my life. I will never eat from such fish established and the food taste like trash. Lettuce is the best thing you could get when working in there. read more

We had a fantastic experience from food to service! Upon arrival we entered on the dining/buffet side of the restaurant. There was only one table of diners at that time and the buffet was not open. We decided to head over to the bar side and it was poppin' . We grabbed a couple tables close to the bar for our party of 8 and we were greeted by a friendly server. We went for a motorcycle ride since the weather was so nice. We saw this place and decided to try it out for lunch. It is a popular "locals" place which quickly filled up for lunch. They have a buffet or you can order from the menu. The buffet changes daily. We wanted to sample a little of everything. The fried chicken was very good. Crispy and not greasy with moist meat inside. The chicken and dumplings and beef stew was also good. I tried the fried chicken gizzard which I never had before. Not really something for me. For sides we tried the potato salad, mashed potato w/gravy, mac-n-cheese and pasta salad. Also very good. There were vegetables as well but we didn't try them. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Prices were also good, buffet today was $13 per person. We will come back again when in the area. read more

We're vacationing in Cherry Grove (North Myrtle) and found Salt Water Grille on Google. We are so glad we did. This place is a true gem that is away from the hustle and bustle of Myrtle, and so worth the drive! The service was so friendly from the moment we walked in the door. Everything we had was delicious. The hush puppies were delicious and were served with amazing butter that tasted like it had cinnamon and maybe a little bit of honey. So good!! My sons had the kids grilled cheese sandwich and kids chicken tenders and they both loved their meals... That speaks volumes because my kids are so picky! I had the grilled pork chops and they're probably the best ones I've ever had. They tasted like they had been marinated because they were so moist and so tender. And they were huge! My husband had a grilled chicken breast, which he enjoyed. My dad had a BBQ sandwich and my mom had a BLT, which they both said were very good. We had no complaints. The prices were very reasonable. We will definitely be back on our next vacation. I highly recommend this place if you're on vacation anywhere near Myrtle Beach! It's a must try! read more

Recently new to Conway South Carolina and noticed this little gem right down the street from my new home. I had one of the neighbors tell me that he and his wife stopped in to eat & did not like his experience. In my mind they were looking for a high end restaurant. I always take people's comments with a grain of salt. I prefer to make my own assessments. I had a friend from up North visiting and we were driving by and she said Hey let's check this place out. Upon entering the bar was full as well as the few tables in the bar area. I did notice that the bartender on duty did not even acknowledge us? As a bartender myself, I feel its great for business to at least acknowledge someone when they come in. It just let's them know "I see you, welcome & I will get to you as soon as I can." Out of nowhere came a waitress, super friendly & welcoming - I wish I coukd remember her name. She directed up toward the dining area for a table. The dining area needs a little ambiance & if very much like a cafeteria set up, but doable. Our drinks were spot on as well as our food. Portions were just the right size. We met one of the owners and she was super friendly & welcoming. As we were leaving she said thank you very much for stopping by & welcomed us back anytime...and we will be back for sure!!! The food and service here were both fantastic! This is a cozy off the beaten path place. They start you off with a large basket of the best hush puppies around! My wife got the fried shrimp and Flounder. I ordered the hamburger steak. Our meals came with potatoes, coleslaw, and Texas toast. The portions were large and the prices were small. Our waiter (Derrell) was fast, friendly, and attentive. The cook here does an amazing job too! We drove in from N.Myrtle, the short drive was well worth it. First off, when we walked in we were greeted by Derrell and told we could have a seat at whatever table we wanted and he would be right with us. It is a hole in the wall type place, there is a bar attached with karaoke on Saturday nights but the restaurant was not loud and not busy. Derrell was very attentive and apologetic that they were out of baked potatoes (we got there late so understandable). We asked if he had hush puppies to which he replied, "oh yea, we do but I'm sorry we are out of the honey butter I make for them", again very apologetic. He brought out an order of the hush puppies and they were amazing! I got the seafood platter with flounder, shrimp, and stuffed crab, everything was excellent! My husband went with the 12oz ribeye and he was very pleased with it! So overall, the food was great but we mostly enjoyed talking with Derrell! He has a wonderful attitude and customer service skills! We are in Myrtle Beach every fall for a conference. We will make a yearly visit to Salt Water Grille! read more

My husband and I had dinner there a few Fridays ago (January 5, I think), and we were very impressed with the quality of the service and specifically, our server, Courtney. Admittedly, the restaurant was not very busy during our visit with only five or six other occupied tables, but she was the only person on the floor. Courtney was very attentive, but never intrusively so, and her attitude was so pleasant! I could visibly see her scurrying between tables, but anytime she spoke with us, it was calm ad kind. Our drinks and food both arrived very promptly, and were both good for the price point. I went with my Aunt & Uncle - seated ourselves and after 10 minutes were given utensils without a word. They seemed to be busy and we weren't in a rush, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. After 25 minutes, we still hadn't been spoken to or even given menus (which a sign says not to take yourself). After another 15 minutes, a waitress finally told us she'd be with us soon and turned to take menus and drink orders from a table that had just sat down 10 minutes prior (but seemed to be regulars, they chatted with other tables). As we were deciding whether to just leave, another customer overheard us and came over to tell us service is horrible and the food wasn't even that good. Based on previous Yelp reviews, we came here for the Sunday lunch and everything was fantastic! Southern style offerings and supposedly the Sunday buffet menu changes from week to week. When we went, they had chicken and dumplings, beef stew over rice, BBQ, fried chicken and a huge assortment of sides like salad, Lima beans, baked beans, corn, cabbage, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, biscuits and more. They also had a homemade peach cobbler that was divine. Your tea is included with the meal and the prices were incredibly reasonable. ($12- adults, $11-seniors, $5.50-kids) While we were there, the family that owns the business was out and about, helping refill drinks, talking to the patrons...just an overall super friendly, laid back place with great southern style food. There were tons of locals in there; we may have been the only people in there where they didn't know our name (and the place was full)! They made sure to make us feel welcome though. They told us next time we come, we need to try their seafood (which is not offered at lunch on Sunday). I can't wait! Would definitely give them a try.
