    a bar with neon lights

I didn't know quite what to expect with this bar, but whatever I was expecting was exceeded! They're like an upscale dive bar. You go in to socialize, there's live music, it's loud, there's a pool table, but the cocktails are hand crafted with care like you would get at a fancy lounge. The bartender was super friendly, and made each drink perfectly. Definitely recommend!

We had such a great time last night. The live music was exactly what we were looking for. The bar is nice and dark allowing you to chill and relax while sipping on these gorgeous cocktails. My husband and I went down the list trying to taste drinks we've never seen at other restaurants. Needless to say, we put a damper on the list and we're not disappointed at all. The later it got throughout the evening the busier the bar got but the bartenders rolled with it and there wasn't more than a 5 minute wait from bar to table regarding your drink. All in all we throughly enjoyed the atmosphere is this bar and loved the live music on this Friday night! We tried the following drinks - Hers: Black Magic - My absolute favorite! This tequila espresso drink was so smooth and delicious. It had the perfect balance of sweetness to balance the bitters. It had a lovely smokey flavor from the charred and smoked cinnamon that's paired beautifully with the mezcal. This is a great sipping drink. Bourbon Breakfast - this has a lovely balance of bourbon and espresso. This is very similar to the Black Magic but with Bourbon and not smokey. My husband who is not a bourbon drinker loved this drink and asked to switch with me so he could have it. Lady in White - I am not a gin drinker but this was so smooth and delicious. Very similar to a refresher. The white chocolate gives it the perfect level of sweetness without making it overly sweet. Lemon Meringue Martini - last drink of the night for me, and man did this hit the spot. This reminded me of my husbands grandmothers lemon pie. It was the perfect balance of tart and sweet. My husband said had I started the night with this, he would have ordered it all night long. His: White Russian - he really enjoyed this. He normally enjoys coffee drinks at the house and doesn't venture too far out of his comfort zone. He was pleased with the coffee flavor and that the alcohol flavor wasn't over powering. Spice of Life - too spicy for him so we switched drinks and he drank my breakfast bourbon drink. This has a great heat from the chili and the lime flavor balances it out well. Not a sweet drink, more similar to a spicy margarita but with rum. I am not a rum drinker but it didn't over power the drink. Barking at the Moon - I took a tiny sip of this and it was a little too sweet for my taste, however, they use one of their house infused liquors to make this drink and the husband said it didn't disappoint.

This is an interesting cocktail bar with a very "roadhouse" feel to it... Concrete floors, pool table, really run down and needing updating... But with a killer cocktail menu! Definitely not the "speakeasy" looks and vibe you'd expect (and hope for) with this interesting menu. The staff was friendly and helpful... Funny too! Drinks were good! If the venue looked better, was more comfy and slightly (ok, a lot) more upscale, I'd definitely return.

This gem was located across the street from our hotel so we thought we would check it out! Walked in and ALL the bartenders were super nice and were ready to serve! We ordered drinks and started a tab. We were here on a Friday night, so there was live entertainment. He was really good and sung songs from different genres! They also have a pool tab with 2nd floor seating. On the 2nd floor you can still look down and see what's going on, on the first floor. The great thing about this place, is they ONLY serve drinks so you can bring food in if your like - that was great! Were here for a few more days, and we will definitely be back!

Cute and cozy bar that was surprisingly very spacious on the inside. Fresh, handmade cocktails by the super friendly bartenders really completed the vibe. There is an upstairs area with a pool table and a little balcony where you can get a good view of the floor and stage. There wasn't live music when we went but we'll definitely be back for a gig!

Came for a drink after dinner. They have a nice extensive cocktail list so I decided to try something new and ordered the That's My Jam - super tasty! My husband ordered something with grapefruit and rum - totally blanking on the name but it was also great. The first floor was starting to fill up so we wandered out to the patio and had it to ourselves for a while. Overall, great drinks. Very eclectic crowd. I'd return.

    Honey I'm Home

One of my favorite bars in Wilmington because of their craft cocktails and cozy environment. They're reasonably priced for the Wilmington market, especially for the quality of beverages provided. They have live music nights, karaoke nights and occasional private tickets events like comedy shows. Check their social media pages for info on those. If you're like me, you have a go-to drink but you're open to trying new options to see if the bartender can wow you with a nifty new flavor combo. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (WTF) has a vast amount of curated cocktails on their menu and I've tried a good handful of them by now, but the one that surprised me the most was the Fired Agave made with habanero infused tequila. Take lemon sorbet on a hot day and add a few dashes of cayenne pepper. It's confusingly refreshing with a dash of "my throats on fire." I wouldn't pound them down all night but definitely worth a try. Another new thing I've been into is egg in cocktails and coffee. WTF has a seasonal drink right now called Honey I'm Home which has tequila and egg whites in it, amongst other things. I could not believe the texture; It was so fluffy and went down so easily. I had to ask the bartender twice if it was really egg and tequila I was drinking... two things I never thought I'd combine on purpose. They also have vodka based dessert shots/drinks here that make you question why you've ever had any other form of post meal sweets. WTF is currently partners with RumCow, a restaurant and rum bar next door which also has great craft cocktails. It's located on a side street in the heart of downtown. It's two story with the bar and lounge downstairs, patio out back and pool upstairs. They have restrooms and close street parking. It's a little classier than I'd say your average neighborhood bar but still jeans and sandals accepting. Would recommend for groups, dates, bachelorette parties, etc. Definitely a Wilmington cocktail gem.

If I could drink a "Barkin At The Moon" every night, I would. This drink is PHENOMENAL!! And Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is one of the chillest, while still being fun and upbeat, spots downtown. The drinks are a work of art. That being said, the drinks do take some time to make, so you may be waiting at the bar for a few before you can order. The bartenders are super friendly and attentive, and they get to you as soon as they can. The wait is never ridiculous or excessive, but if you are impatient or time conscious, this may not be the spot for you. There's an upstairs area with additional seating that overlooks the main floor and stage, which also has a pool table. There is also a small outdoor area guests can explore. Music is kept to a respectable decibel; however, live bands do perform, though I don't know the schedule, I'll get back to y'all with that, and those nights can be a little loud. But going back to the start -- if you like a semi-sweet drink with a hint of bitterness (like your mother-in-law), order a "Barkin At The Moon".

Delicious drinks, friendly bartenders, good prices for how well the drinks are made. Loved that there were several options of tequila drinks, berry with tequila was a favorite. Highly recommend.

By the bar is an indoor theater where we sat at and had our drinks for the pub crawl. The creepiest place in our pub crawl tour was at that theater area by The Rooftop Bar. We used a tiny elevator to go up to this bar. There are stairs to go up and down the floors to the bar if the elevator is too cramped or too long of a wait. The server at the bar was pretty and kind. I was in awe of the views behind the plexiglass and the sunset over the water in Wilmington and the USS Battleship North Carolina. This is a bar I would definitely go to again just to see the spectacular views.

The Rooftop bar is on the 5th story of the building it is in. There is an elevator, but if you are a glutton for punishment, you can take the stairs. The drinks are very reasonable. 3 beers cost me $10. Not a huge selection of draft beer, but many others in cans/bottles. Bartender was very good, friendly and efficient. The bar is in the middle, with seats all around. You can also take you drinks to seating outside with better views of the Cape Fear River. One section gives you a great view of the battleship across the river. There are criticism in other reviews about the views, which I get. The Southside views are mostly looking at the rooftops of other buildings, not that they can change that. There are other obstructions they can control if they wanted which would improve the viewing experience. The bar is very laid back, with a mixed crowd. Recommend.

What a fantastic evening at Dram Yard…read more We were a little concerned we might miss our 5:30 reservation after getting delayed by a seven-car accident on the bridge, but we arrived just a couple of minutes late and it wasn't an issue at all. From the moment we arrived, the experience was relaxed, welcoming, and exactly what we needed. We chose to sit in the beautiful courtyard, and with temperatures in the 70s, sunshine overhead, and a gentle breeze, it couldn't have been a more perfect setting. The outdoor gazebo bar creates a wonderful atmosphere for enjoying a cocktail before dinner, and if the weather isn't cooperating, the indoor dining space is equally inviting. A special thank you to Sarah, whose service was outstanding. She was cheerful, attentive, and genuinely seemed happy to be there. The restaurant wasn't crowded, which made for a peaceful and unhurried dining experience. For drinks, I ordered the Ghost Town, while my wife enjoyed the Venus Flytrap. Both were beautifully prepared and easy to see why they're among the restaurant's popular cocktails. The food was equally impressive. I had the Spaghetti Carbonara, and it was exceptional. The kitchen even accommodated my request for extra freshly cracked black pepper, which took an already excellent dish to another level. My wife ordered the Little Gem Salad with shrimp, and it was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We also shared the Tuna Tartare Tostada, which was outstanding--beautiful presentation, fresh tuna, and a great balance of textures and flavors. Adding to the experience was a bottle of Albariño that paired wonderfully with the meal. What stands out most about Dram Yard is its atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can settle in, slow down, enjoy a handcrafted cocktail, and forget about the stresses of the day. Whether you're looking for a date night, an evening with friends, or simply a quiet place to relax, Dram Yard delivers. Excellent service, creative cocktails, outstanding food, and one of the most relaxing outdoor dining spaces in Wilmington. We'll definitely be back.

This was the 3rd time we've been here. The first two times we did not make it to the table because…read moreof the service. They generally do not care about the customer at all. The star of the show is definitely the food. The chef is super proud of his food, and he should be. The only reason I'm giving this a 4 on food instead of a 5 is because there was no iced tea (in the summer in the carolinas - not really forgivable) the water was nasty and the biscuits on my Benedict were towards the burnt side on the bottom. Honestly, everything otherwise was amazing. What was really great: The restaurant itself is AMAZING! It's like being transported to a Parisian cafe. I love that when you walk in, you immediately see the fully in view kitchen. I'm assuming a chef owns the restaurant and designed the layout. The patio is quaint and delightful and surprisingly private for a downtown sidewalk restaurant. The eggs on my Eggs Benedict could not have been more perfect. I'm not a fried potato person; however, the pan fried potatoes here are mostly whole and they are out of this world. They were exceedingly crispy on the outside and completely soft on the inside. My son ordered the dutch baby. It was delicious. The accompanied fruit was perfect and truly ripe. I feel like they would have to toss a lot of fruit to get the ones that were truly that perfect. What did not work: The water - it was about 85 degrees out and humid. There is nothing here refreshing. Water is served European style meaning no ice and out of the tap. Warm tap water on a hot day in South Carolina is just nasty. It's ironic that while Europeans visiting the US for the World Cup are posting social media reels raving about ice in drinks in the United States, meanwhile The Dram Yard is insisting on pulling all of the worst parts of eating out in Europe into their restaurant. I truly dislike restaurants that serve canned and bottled beverages. It screams, "nickel and dime". If you bought your cans of soda at Costco and charged $4.00 for a can, I'd have to drink 9 cans before you're losing money. There is literally no reason to limit beverages other than driving higher profits. I hate price gouging. At the very least get a fountain and serve iced tea. SERVICE - the service staff simply makes you feel like they're doing you a favor by being open. Don't expect anything after that. When we arrived, the restaurant was at about 25% capacity with 2 food servers, who also double as the hostess. After waiting 10 minutes to be seated (yes...even at 25% capacity), service truly went downhill from there. It wasn't that the staff was rude. They were just not present and extremely slow. It honestly seemed like they were doing everything they could to not be seen. We needed salt, a refill of the water carafe and our check. That was it. The staff would come to our part of the dining room but then not even glance around or come by to see if we needed anything. I'm giving them a 2 because they were exceedingly slow and not present. When we did chase them down, I felt rude asking for help. The chef delivered our food. He was very proud and should be. However, here's the rub. The chef needs to learn that being in the restaurant business is not only about creating great food. It also requires front of house service and an overall dining experience that people are happy with. Right now, I'm walking away feeling: 1. great food and great atmosphere 2. terrible service 3. nickle and dimed me on drinks 4. doesn't have the sense to serve iced tea in the Caronlinas So - as much as I loved the food - there are too many restaurants in Wilmington that are good enough to overcome 2, 3 and 4 above. The Dram could be fixed so easily: 1. hire servers who want to be there and smile a little 2. put ice in your water 3. serve iced tea - at least in the summer months 4. get a soda fountain - it's 2026 Unfortunately, we won't be back because there are simply other options that, at the very least, hit 1, 2 and 3 with good food.
