Struggled with the rating. I could have gone 3 stars but decided on 4. The deciding factor was how cheap the drinks were. Located on Front Street, right in the heart of downtown. The Rooftop bar is on the 5th story of the building it is in. There is an elevator, but if you are a glutton for punishment, you can take the stairs. The drinks are very reasonable. 3 beers cost me $10. Not a huge selection of draft beer, but many others in cans/bottles. Bartender was very good, friendly and efficient. The bar is in the middle, with seats all around. You can also take you drinks to seating outside with better views of the Cape Fear River. One section gives you a great view of the battleship across the river. There are criticism in other reviews about the views, which I get. The Southside views are mostly looking at the rooftops of other buildings, not that they can change that. There are other obstructions they can control if they wanted which would improve the viewing experience. The bar is very laid back, with a mixed crowd. Recommend. read more

What a cool venue, you feel like you are in Prison looking through the Fence to Freedom, Man put a Little money into it. Some much better places with Roof Tops with better unobstructed view of the River and City. They have a bar but dont ask for anything too fancy they will let you down. This spot has been around for a few decades now. I have many memories here. The view is beautiful except for all of the construction. The major downfall of this place is the 5 story walk up to the bar or the scary as all get out elevator. The elevator holds like 4 people and is so hot and slow. Came here around 7:00 on a Friday night. There were only a couple other people but I'm sure it gets much busier later on. It's located on the 5th floor of a building on Front Street right by the water. They had the bar sectioned off with glass doors and you could still go outside and see the view. They had heaters inside which made it very cozy. Friendly service and great view, pretty basic, but great vibes would definitely come back here! read more

I've been coming right past this place without stopping for the last 35 years. So, we were in town for my daughters college orientation. We were walking by as usual and for some reason when they guy out front on the stool invited us in, we accepted and I'm glad we did. It is a dive and an old looking place, but once you get past the slow elevator to the 5th floor the views are really nice and the drinks are priced right also. We definitely will be back again. We did not get any food and didn't see anyone else with food on the rooftop bar, but it is a great place for a drink or two. We were there on a Saturday afternoon. read more

We lived in Wilmington for 4 years and visited Level 5 ( now Rooftop Bar) all of the time. We had 2 "Wetting Down" parties there and always had a great time. For those of you who want to bitch and moan about the place remember you are not in NYC or someplace with super high drink prices. It is a fun place to hang out, dance, and drink. How many of you have parties and use crystal glasses. From the reviews I read, I would say not many. Take it for what it is, enjoy the view, and relax. Last time I came here in 2019 this was an amazing place to dance, great view of the city, no cover for ladies - but apparently things have changed in a big way since we waited 45 minutes in line last night and paid $15 only to be told we couldn't go in because we had a LEGAL delta 8 cart on us. Security were total assholes and screamed at my girlfriend even though she wasn't aware of any rule about bringing in carts. Although it has the best view in town and pretty typically drinks, it always seems dirty. However, it may have the grosses bathroom rooms I've ever been in. Last night, only one stall locked, wet seats, toilet paper everywhere, one toilet overflowing onto the ground, and we had to ask the staff to please provide soap. Stopped in for a drink and rest after walking the Azalea fest. The bar was not crowded when we got there. Barmaid (Mishell) provided the paper work to become members so she could serve us. Paperwork was completed, we received our membership card and then she totally ignored us! Sat there for about 5 minutes and she would not take our drink order. Four people walked in after us, she gave them the paperwork and took their drink order and served them. Then, two groups of about 6 walked in....she prepared their mixed drinks/served them beer and would not even make eye contact with us. This continued for the rest of our time there. Needless to day, after about 20 minutes, we ripped up our paperwork and left. I usually only leave positive reviews, but she was awful and I think overwhelmed. Too bad, because the place has an awesome view and atmosphere. They just need a replacement for "Mishell". But at least we got a free membership! read more

I would have given it no stars but you had to choose at least one for the review. The place serves drinks in plastic cups and has a horrible atmosphere. Drab and stinky from restaurants exhausts. If it wasn't for the view we would have left right away. Really have to say horrible. There is not enough seating and the seating that they had was trashy. Could be a great place if they put some comfy chairs and nice bar tables and use glass to serve drinks. One positive is that the drink prices were good but really plastic cups! read more

1st time in Wilmington, NC. Drove down from Charlotte for the WellsFargo Championship game. After watching the game all day decided to go back to my hotel on the river (Hilton Riverfront is fabulous by the way). After refreshing and relaxing for a bit I decided to take a stroll downtown. While walking downtown I couldn't help but notice one of the historic buildings roofs were lit up. As I got closer the curiosity intensified. As it so happened it was a rooftop BAR! Just what I was looking for after a long hot day. Up the elevator I went, I met a nice young man named Cam. He was very knowledgeable about the area and give me advice on what I should check out while in town. The few cocktails he made were awesome, not to mention the view of the bridge in the background. I would def recommend this spot as a must see while visiting Wilmington. read more

Excellent spot to relax with company and a few drinks. The prices are extremely reasonable and ambiance undeniable. There is ample space to dance and a dj spinning contemporary beats for the crowd. You do have to climb stair to get there so don't think there isn't work involved. read more
