From the moment Sweet Treets people showed up with the wedding cake at the venue it started to collapse due to structural issues. How in the hell does a wedding cake company not know how to make a structurally sound wedding cake??? Then when they took the cake back to the bakery and returned to the venue, South Congress wayyy past the eta time. The cake was broken and damaged. I am guessing because they had to take it completely apart and add an absurd amount of reinforcement. Once they were back at South Congress it was realized that the groom's cake was left behind!!!! Not only were they already late with the wedding cake but then they had to go back to get the groom's cake they forgot at the bakery. This, therefore, caused our entrance into the reception space to be delayed so they could then install the groom's cake. Everyone was waiting for us to walk in and make out the entrance and instead the two women who showed up had to walk in and add the groom's cake. On top of everything, we were not able to do a cake cutting because there is so much structure in the cake it was impossible to take any kind of cut through the cake. I was hitting structural elements and was embarrassed to not be able to do any kind of cake cutting at my wedding. If this was not enough the bride's cake looked unfinished, poorly put together, broken flowers, areas where the frosting was completely missing. As a designer, I could not IMAGINE presenting a product like this to a person. LET ALONE THERE WEDDING!!!! To know that they have ruined an important part of my wedding will be something I never forget. South Congress Hotel and the wedding planning company let me know that they will be removing them from the preferred vendor's list due to the complete lack of professionalism. Sweet Treets was very accommodating and was able to transfer our deposit for a 200+ person cake to use on 2 small cakes for an intimate event during all of the changes we had to make having a wedding during a pandemic. Was very excited to find a bakery near where I live, had visions of pastries and croissants and sundry "Sweet Treets" upon which I was ready to splurge my calorie allotment, and my money. So disappointed & unimpressed to find a large storefront with a single small display of a handful of different kinds of cupcakes. That was it. They didn't even look that interesting so I didn't want to wait for the one other customer in the store and one person behind the counter to buy some. Needed something to cure that sweet tooth after dinner, so walked on down to Sweet Treats. This was my first time at this bakery. It was a little pricey. I did like that there were both regular sized cupcakes and mini cupcakes. My true happiness came from the cake balls. Again, a little pricey for their size, but they were definitely delicious. I also wish there would have been more of a variety. A lot of the goods had chocolate on them or in them....don't get me wrong, chocolate is my best friend ; however, some other options would have been nice. Amazing! That's the word to describe Sweet Treats. We hired them to do our wedding cake. They not only were able to accommodate all of our requests, and we had a lot since my wife has several food allergies, they also went above and beyond. Little did I know but in addition to the main wedding cake we ordered, my wife ordered a special extra cake from Sweet Treats just for me. I make my own electric guitars, and was blown away to see a cake that looked IDENTICAL to my guitars sitting on the table at our wedding. It was was so accurate to my real guitars that they even made it look like it had wood grain in the icing. They even created a guitar neck complete with strings, tuners, and even our logo on the headstock! Truly a work of art. Their buttercream had a strange flavor which ruined the cupcake. We didn't even bother finishing them - why waste calories on something you don't enjoy? The cake balls are $1.75 each and are a ball of cake covered in chocolate. They were good but nothing that I would return for and definitely not worth $1.75 each! Overall, I would say this place is overpriced and so-so. Made me miss Hey, Cupcake! which isn't exactly the gold standard. read more

Cake was great but the design was so-so and a let down compared to the pictures on their website. I called Friday 2/20 for the cake to be ready 8 days later on Saturday 2/28. I read Sweet Treets Bakery's yelp reviews and visited their website and both looked really great! I noticed the website said a 2 week minimum on orders but they would make exceptions if they had availability (Obviously I only gave them an 8 day notice so I was grateful they could add me). They were busy and said the receptionist would call me right back and took my name/number. I waited 2 hours and called back because of the time constraint. I told them I needed a small cake for 8-10 people. They asked what design I wanted and I said, "I really liked a Reeses cake on your website or maybe something like the top layer looking like it was crocheted, as the person receiving the cake likes to crochet." They asked, "What about a ball of yarn?" I said...sure. They asked what color I wanted the yarn to be, what type of frosting/cake mix, and what the cake needed to say. They said it would be $74 and asked what date/time I could pick up the cake. They never sent an email or any confirmation that I placed the order...which did not seem professional. I had no idea what the cake would look like. Also, I noticed on their website that their largest round cake is 10" and is $58. So I was not even sure of the break down of cost, so that would have been nice to know. I picked up the cake and was disappointed on how simple it looked. Like another reviewer said, it looked like they spent 10 minutes designing the top part of the cake. Again, the cake itself was great, words spelled correctly, and was generally very nice, it was just extremely plain. So my recommendation to Sweet Treets Bakery is (worth 10 cents): 1) Send an email confirmation to the client with a brief description of the cake, time and date of pick up, and break down of the costs. 2) Maybe include a sketch of the cake in the email. While I was picking up my pie I eyed a custom cake chilling in the fridge of a cowboy boot being molded, too cool! One guest foolishly passed on a slice of pie but all the better for me. Sunday morning pecan pie breakfast with tea the next day was perfect for me.
