WOW this place has pretty good Rolled Ice Cream. Well, I live close by and every sunny day I would see a long line up out the door. So, today I finally got to try the ice cream. I went at 7:45ish and the wait wasn't too bad. I ordered the matcha lychee. It was entertaining to watch them make the ice cream. But the combination of the matcha and lychee made the ice cream taste really good. There are 5 rolls in one cup. But the ice cream was pretty pricy for $8. I liked it and I finished it pretty quick. Also there are not much seats at Sweet Tooth. You might want to consider taking your ice cream to somewhere else to eat it.

Icecream and sign

First time visiting Sweet Tooth! Okay, I was with my fiance and 2 brothers as they also wanted to grab some ice cream after lunch. But as soon as they entered the store all 3 of them changed their minds(I'll explain more on why below). I wanted to still try their fried ice cream so I ordered the "Nutella and Chill" with pocky, brownies, and mini macaroon topping. The store was busy and it took at least 30 minutes to get ice cream. One thing my brothers noticed was that the store was quite dirty. Tons of icecream splatters everywhere that looked pretty old. And the floor definitely needed some scrubbing. The people making your icecream are not wearing any gloves or hairnets (or anything that would stop their hair from coming in contact with the icecream). Also, the person making my icecream dropped the the cup of the person before me and instead of changing it to a new one, she just used the same one anyway. The icecream itself looks super cute and the taste was good as well. Except some part of my ice cream had lychee in it. Which was the previous customers ice cream. And that would just mean that the surface was not totally cleaned before she made my ice cream. So, overall? I dunno, I'm not sure if I would come back. I'd rather visit another ice cream shoppe that is well cleaned and organized.

S'mores and Gotcha Matcha

Super friendly staff. Hard working by definition - they are literally chopping and scraping your ice cream as they make it fresh in front of you. We had gotcha matcha and s'mores. It is quite amazing to watch the staff make your ice cream from a mix of flavors and a jar of liquid ice cream on a super cooled metal plate. After making and shaping it into a thin rectangular slab, they then scrape it into multiple rolls. Then come the toppings and whipped cream. Yum! The ice cream is expensive at $8 each but it is a lot of ice cream.

Birthday cake

Sweeth Tooth was one of the first ice cream joints that "rolled" into town with the newest frozen treat fad. I'm kinda glad I waited for the hype to die down before we checked it out. Even on a quiet day where there was only a couple of people ahead of us, it still took about 20 mins or so to get our order (Birthday Cake and Gotcha Matcha). I can't imagine what the wait is like on days where people have noted that it's lined up down the street! The ice cream concoctions are aesthetically pleasing for sure (read: primo IG shots) and are tasty, but there's gotta be a way for them to be more efficient getting their orders out on a timely manner. If you're willing to wait, check them out. If not, you can live vicariously through the social media photos.

Purple haze ice cream rolls

Me and my.boyfriend went here. Beware the inside is smaller then it looks in the pictures online. We ended up getting the raindrop cake, and purple haze ice cream. The raindrop cake looked exsactly like the cakes you see on instagram. It was so pretty and neat looking. Get this the cake actualy tasted like rain... or water. The cake didn't have much flavor and we will probably never order it again. But everyone needs to try it at least once. It wasn't for us but maybe you'll like it. When we ordered our ice cream we didn't know you had to ask for extra toppings (nope we did not notice the giant sign) adding each topping is a little pricey especialy if you compare sweet tooth with places like menchies and tutti fruiti. Our ice cream was a little plain and a little expensive since we didn't have much on it. We do want to come back and try other ice cream flavors. It tastes like any other well made ice cream just watching it be made is so much fun. We will go back here.

Purple haze, yellow fever, and matcha. All amazing, like your kids. Can't decide which one you love more.
Jessie C.

A little taste of Asia is what this is. Never mind the fact it's in an old building in the heart of Chinatown. With flavours like taro and pandan, I really felt like it wasn't - 15 with snow on the ground outside. The yellow fever was mango and stuff, the owner (I'm assuming) suggested toasted coconut. Oh. My. God. This added the extra crunch that complemented the whole dish. Purple Haze was real taro mixed with taro flavoured ice milk. Very deelish, even my friends who've never had taro loved it. For $7.50 you get a good amount of ice cream with whipped cream. I think this is a different type of ice cream than marble slab. It's more of an ice milk, akin to Dairy Queen. Can't wait to go again, this actually added a "pro" to my "Move to Calgary or Not" list.

Having friends in Edmonton who have raved about the rolled ice cream truck, I was excited to discover that Calgary has a store in Chinatown. I did not believe them when they said the ice cream was made instantly and got rolled up like an egg roll. Boy was I wrong. Not only did the staff put on a show, but they seemed to enjoy every bit of the process. Environment - The parlor is situated in an old building in Chinatown. There is an elevation at the entrance that will test your footwork. The place was small with 2 tables and a counter, with not much décor or ambience. It's best to go in with a "grab and go" mentality. Food - I ordered the Purple Haze, which was a mixture of fresh taro, coconut, and whipped cream. The presentation of the ice cream was phenomenal and looked very appetizing. When you first bite into the ice cream, you immediately experience the medley of little chunks of taro and coconut. However, I felt the ice cream was not as smooth and creamy as other ice cream parlors in town. Perhaps because you need to roll the ice cream this necessitates a different consistency. Value - I felt the price justifies what you are getting. For $7, you get a decent amount of freshly made ice cream and a rolling show. The novelty is worth the price of admission. However, time will tell how long the novelty will last for. Overall - Definitely worth checking out.

October feature Pumpkin Pi Rolled Ice Cream (yes they named it Pumpkin Pi, not Pie)

The rolled ice cream at Sweet Tooth is as filling as an ice cream sundae. The size of their cup may look small, but it is deep and the ice cream is satisfyingly thick. I love that they have so many toppings!

After see the videos on YouTube/ Facebook Calgary has its own rolled ice cream hot spot! I Finally got my chance to go to this place with my friend. Was so excited to finally experience this ice cream. I enjoy the earl grey ice cream it supper creamy with a twist of infused flavours for a pleasant surprise of fruitloop crunch! Staff are really out going and fairly chatty for basically being food enterers. Making it more involving. Only down fall be prepared to wait for your order and there is no little spoons for sampling :( Over all I will definitely be going back !

Purple Haze - Taro flavoured

This place is so cute! My friend wanted to try it and of course I can't pass up ice cream. I will be heading to Thailand in less than a month so now I'm prepped for this ice cream (lol). I tried the "purple haze" and my friend had "my friends r nuts". Honestly they were both good. But purple haze is taro flavoured which instantly makes it better in my books. Added some coconut shavings. Yum. The staff there were really friendly and let us take a video for our snapchats! It was really cool to watch them make the ice cream and then spread it and roll it. Very cute. It was also busy AF and I can see why. I think we were there pretty late too and it was still open and serving customers. Great that it's open late - even on a Monday! I will definitely be back the next time I am in Cowtown.

Finally rolled ice cream has arrived in Calgary! The original idea originating from Thailand has finally arrived with spectacular fanfare. Came in on a chilly Saturday night and presented with a line of hungry people looking to satisfy their inner sweet tooth. The line moved quickly in taking orders with all hands on deck manning the 3 ice plates to make our delicious rolled ice cream as quick as possible. We ended up getting the London Fog which had in house roasted beans with crushed fruit loops. The presentation alone was something of instagramers dream; toasted marshmallow and teddy graham crackers sitting over a bed of whipped cream and hand rolled ice cream. The ice cream itself was sweet and gave you that little kick of childhood when you found yourself with some fruit loops. The staff was wonderful and friendly, we waited about 10 mins for our ice cream, quite reasonable given the amount of orders ahead of us. We were even able to witness some great customer service from the owners of the shop when a order was mistakenly delayed for a couple next to us. They were offered a free drink to compensate them on the extra 5 mins they had waited, something rarely seen from large chain restaurants and shops. We will definitely be back to try their specials and other items. Happy munching!

My friends r nuts! With toasted marshmallow and wafer

So happy I got to finally get my hands on some rolled delicious-ness! Sweet Tooth does not disappoint with this creative flavours, friendly staff and super lively vibe! My girlfriend and I went down on a late Sunday night and we were surprised as to how busy the place on a weeknight. They had so many different combinations that it was a little hard to pick one, however you had the option of adding on additional toppings if you wanted your rolled ice cream to be even more amazing. My girlfriend got the purple haze and I went with the my friends r nuts and added a wafer and toasted marshmellow. After ordering, we watched the magic happen on a cold marble slab where staff broke up and mixed our ice cream in front of us and then rolled it right up into the cup. You've seen it all over social media, but it's cool to finally watch it yourself. Not only is the presentation of the ice cream super instagramable, but it was VERY good. I love the late night hours, as they run until 10pm on weeknights and until 12am on weekends. Definitely will be coming back for some late night cravings!

Purple haze with gram crackers $9
Diana H.

Came here to satisfy my sweet tooth with my bf. The place is small with limited seating. There's two girls rolling the ice cream and it took about 15 minutes to be served. For $9 we got the purple haze with gram crackers. The ice cream was pretty to look at but the flavour was a bit bland. We found it taste more like condensed milk than taro. It was a hard to eat. When you tried to take a scoop of ice cream it crumbled. Overall it was fun to see the rolls being made but didn't satisfy my ice cream cravings.

I tried their north 49 honeyberry flavor (always flavors) and their matcha lemon cookie flavor (seasonal flavor). I really liked the north 49 honeyberry flavor because of the slight tartness of the ice cream. I also don't like my ice cream too overbearingly sweet so north 49 honeyberry flavor was a good choice for me. The matcha lemon cookie was a solid optional too for a seasonal flavor. I'm a sucker for matcha flavor and the lemon cookie complemented the matcha well. The lemon cookie also added nice contrasts in texture too. The ambiance is nice too, I like the open space and greenery. I feel like the thorough menu description beforehand was a good touch so I felt very confident in what I wanted when ordering since the descriptions for flavors were so detailed. Would recommend trying Village Ice Cream and there are several locations throughout Calgary!
