Baguettes Tradition. Raspberry Choux, Coffee Choux and Mango Choux. Hazelnut Roll Cake. Cappuccino and Hot Chocolate.

One of the best bakeries in town! It's located in Bridgeland, one of the most trendiest neighbourhoods in Calgary. It's a very quiet, small and quaint bakery. Their staff are very friendly and patient. Their drink menu has the standard hot and cold beverages such as cappuccino, tea, juices, etc. Their pastries are very unique, flavourful and visually speaking, cute. There's a French influence in this bakery so you'll find that their pastries are mostly French ones. Their baguettes are not bad at all. They have 2 types of baguettes: traditional and sourdough. Their choux is delicious and very well done! However, it can be pricey. I recommend this bakery if you ever find yourself in Bridgeland.

Being well-known for their choux I knew I had to go here. And it did not disappoint! The pastry was soft and the cream fillings were flavor explosions. Of note these are bite sized so not great for splitting each choux so make sure to get enough!

Super delicious baked goods. I have tried their blueberry roll cake and the matcha choux and the hazelnut choux. Everything here are super delicious. So far one of my favorite bakeries in Calgary. Right now, I can't get the choux in Vancouver. I have been here couple times already and I am constantly coming back. Their pastries and cakes are super flavorful. Everything here are freshly made on the day. The roll cakes are super fluffy. When my sister came to Calgary to visit me, I had to bring her here to try Mari Bakeshop. She liked it too. I highly recommend visiting this place. I am definitely coming back. If I have visitors visiting me, I will bring them here. That is how good their cakes are.

I've been meaning to check out this bakery in East Village forever, and I'm glad I did! The interior was bright and inviting and the staff are friendly. This place is known for their choux and roll cakes. The choux are around bite sized and are $2.50 each. They have quite a large selection and apparently have some rotating flavours as well! I split half a dozen choux with the people I was with and we tried the passionfruit, hazelnut, coffee, coconut, lemon, and raspberry flavours. Everybody liked theirs! Mine was the raspberry and it had great flavour without being too sweet. We also got a rose lychee roll cake to split ($4.50) and it was fluffy and creamy. Everyone got a round of coffee drinks at the table and they were your standard coffee shop quality. I enjoyed my latte. I would recommend this place to anyone who doesn't like desserts that are too sweet! I would definitely return. I'd love to see them have some kind of point card like a buy 10 get the next one on us kind of deal!

Strolled to the Mari Bakeshop. Very clean and fresh environment. Good baked goodies - 6 kinds of Choux and roll cakes like Swiss Rolls. Ordered the Chou - delicious! Roll cakes- coconut and Matcha Green Tea- delicious!!! Will be back.

Touring the city on bike, and a friend suggested we stop in here for a sandwich. It's located just south of the river paths in Calgary's new and up and coming East Village. It looks welcoming right from the outside with its big windows and bright yellow sign. The inside is bright and clean with simple modern decor. The display is amazing with all the varieties of sandwiches and cakes and tarts. Of the three of us we each tried a different sandwich. Roast Beef, Turkey and Montreal Smoked meat. Regretfully we didn't try the desserts (shame on us). That said the sandwiches were well made with good quality meats and bread. I could have ate 2 or 3 of them! They are around $9.00. They have a full espresso drink menu as well with drink sizes from 4-12oz. I think this is a great spot for a bite or espresso if you're out enjoying the East Village.

Lemon meringue tart - top marks for execution and taste.

Darling daughter wanted me to see the $4-5/slice roll cakes so see them, we did. I did not order any as I'm not thrilled by Swiss rolls in general. There's a bakery in Toronto where we can often get an entire roll with fresh mango chunks -- we don't pay the equivalent of $4/slice. How does one justify such a price? The lemon meringue tart also cost $5 and was a much better value, imo.

Raspberry roll cake and a chocolate rollcake, both equally delicious. A moist, fluffy, light cake with a creamy filling.

Mari Bakeshop is by far my favorite little bakeshop in the city. Their selection of baked treats, sandwiches and breads are amazing. I honestly cannot choose a favorite flavor of rollcake as I have by now tried them all and love them all. They also have a selection of delicious deli sandwiches, my favorite here been the turkey sandwich. The freshly baked smell of the bread catches you as you walk by and as I live very close I often go down on a Saturday morning just to purchase a freshly baked crispy, fluffy baguette to accompany my weekly breakfast fry up. I 100% recommend Mari Bakeshop for a tasty treat of a selection of breads, sandwiches and cakes at very reasonable prices. Thank you for coming to East Village, you have a customer for life.

I really like the roll cakes here, but they are totally expensive! $5 for one slice of roll cake seems excessive. They are good slices and have lots of cream inside but I just think they are bit overpriced. I tried the coffee flavor and it was delicious. I dont like the cream puffs (choux) at all. Theyre way too small, and too hard and for $2.50 per puff, I expect alot better! Id definitely come back to try more roll cake flavors though.

Delicious latte! Perfect way to start the day!

Delicious latte! Other pastries and breads as well but we were just looking for a warm drink.

Mari is a cute bake shop that opened recently in the east village. For roll cakes they are amazing! Every once in a while there is a new flavour that they bring out that are fun to experiment if you are feeling adventurous with dessert. Their service is great as well. They are always smiley and if you are planning to enjoy your dessert at the cafe, they bring everything to your table. The tea service is very cute and their selections are quite good. I believe they source it from an England based company. We really enjoy going to Mari and have become somewhat regulars, always bringing friends and family. You can order full sized cakes from them as well! I have on a number of occasions brought Mari roll cakes to parties and they have always been a hit!!

Vanilla and banana cream-filled choux pastries with a chocolate chip brioche.

It's our second time visiting and their choux pastries were amazing as always, especially the vanilla and raspberry flavours. We arrived right when they opened at 10 am hoping to get first selection on their roll cakes. However, none were available and we were advised they might be ready at noon. Other treats and tarts were also not available until later in the day as well... A little disappointing!

Ever since we had kouign amann almost a decade ago in a French patisserie in Quito, Ecuador of all…read moreplaces, my husband has been on the hunt for the best kouign amann wherever we travel. The bad news is, there is no good kouign amann in Seattle or anywhere in the western US (so far, by our calculations). The fantastic news is that there IS stunningly delicious kouign amann in Calgary! I first balked at La Boulangerie because I had bookmarked two other bakeries to try. But I'm so glad we came here. Walking up to the storefront, I took in the quaint outdoor tables and the people enjoying a coffee and brunch. The first language I heard outside was French, which only added to the idea that we were in the right place. It wasn't busy when we walked to the counter at an off hour during the week, but I could see this place being slammed on a nice weekend. Do yourself a favor and take the time to look at all of the treats in the case. I had no idea which one to pick, but I'm so happy I went with the pear marzipan croissant - something I wouldn't easily be able to find at home. The savory breakfast crepes were tasty but could have been enhanced by a sauce on the side - the ingredients inside were a little dry. The Nutella latte was AH-MAZE-ING. Sweet, hazlenutty, but not overpowering. I immediately looked up a recipe for a future attempt to recreate it at home. The standout by far was the kouign amann, which comes in more than one flavor (insert mind blown emoji here). My husband chose a vanilla-filled one. Holy lamination. The layers, the glaze, the crunch. The vanilla cream filling was somehow both fluffy and delicately flavored yet sturdy enough to survive a day in the car. If I could fly back to Calgary every weekend just to buy a single kouign amann from this place, I would. Service was wonderful and we were surprised that that instead of calling our number, the staff walked each component of our order out to us. Highly recommend. Please visit and fulfill all your kouign amann fantasies!
