The ambiance was lovely, the desserts looked delicious, until I noticed a mouse come running from behind the front desk to the kitchen. I walked out immediately. read more

It was good. The desserts were excellent. The macarons were excellent. Their website showed more "food" than they actually have. I was hoping for a French croquet madam. The staff was very nice. And the shop is cute, but non de script. I would definitely go back if I needed a dessert for an affair. read more

Great pastries. The frozen pain au chocolat are out of this world.. A bit out of the way but worth it. read more

One of the original Calgary dessert places. Used to come here all the time at the old location, damn that was nostalgic, now not so much mostly due to the high prices and industrial location is more out of the way personally. Now, only a couple times a year I'm here at the most. Still excellent quality. 4/5 overpriced but good. read more

Stopped by on Saturday 4pm to pickup dessert on the way home. A small, unassuming shop from the outside that is part of a corner plaza. There's a small cafe section to sit down and another section up a few steps where the tasty desserts are held. At that hour, much of the daily items had been sold. That's a good sign! They had biscotti, cake, pastries, cookies and quiche. I've been in search for a dense, decadent chocolate cake and think I've finally found it- the chef's chocolate cake is a rectangle piece of moist (but not spongy cake like out of a Duncan Hines box) covered in a velvety icing and topped with mousse. It's heavenly!!! I like that it is a single serving size as many bakeries only offer this decadence in a 9 inch cake or larger sizes. The chocolate was not too sweet and was so rich. I could have cut it into half and made 2 desserts out of it but where's the fun in that?!? My son had the panna cotta with lemon on the bottom and hubby had the hazelnut mousse. I had a taste of both which were good but was mesmerized by my own chocolatey delight We will definitely return here to try more items! read more

Éclair de Lune - Chef's chocolate cake, panna cotta and hazelnut mousse - Bakeries Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

Found this place over the weekend and WOW! I will be making my way up there more. The best croissants I've ever had, the turnovers amazing, plus all the other treats we had are equally delicious! read more

Who doesn't love a bakery? Honestly. They smell delicious, they have appealing treats, and it saves (trying) baking at home. Eclair de Lune is no exception to that. It's a great little bakery located at the corner of Northmount Drive and 40 Avenue. I first wandered by in search of something to munch on for breakfast, but ended up buying more than necessary. They had these appetizing looking croissants on the counter - I bought three - as well as milk bread. What is milk bread, you might ask? Well, that's what I thought so I did ask. The nice French baker helping me explained it to me, and it sounded so good I even bought a roll. The guy behind the counter really was passionate about baking. You could tell when he was explaining what each pastry was. He was able to fully explain, to my understanding, what each thing was, and made everything sound so delicious! I enjoyed spending a few minutes learning about all the things he had. They had available an assortment of different breads and baked goods. There were full apple tarts for sale, as well as pre-made ready-to-bake creme brule. The most appetizing looking item had to be the chocolate eclairs he had. I do love a good eclair, and these looked so tempting I had to buy some... so I got two. It would seem as though only half the store is functioning, since there was an empty display case on the other side of the store. As well, I'd recommend bringing cash since their debit machine is extremely slow. We actually had to ring through my purchase twice because the first debit transaction didn't go through since someone was calling the store at the same time. I'm glad I bought more than I needed from Eclair de Lune because now I've got extra yummy pastries at home. It was a great bakery experience and if I'm in the neighbourhood anytime soon, I'll definitely be heading back. read more

Éclair de Lune - Bakeries Near Me - Calgary, Alberta

My lady and I popped into Eclair de Lune bakery one afternoon to pick up a sweet treat. You could smell the inviting aroma of baked goods out on the sidewalk - how can you not go in? The first thing you see when you walk in is a display case featuring different flavors of croissants and meringue cookies in pastel colours. We both opted for a lime and dulce du leche cookie that had an authentic name which I tried to pronounce but the lady just giggled so I guess I botched it pretty good. After picking up a coffee, we dug in. The cookie was crunchy and had a nice citrusy overtone, so it wasn't too sweet, which I appreciate. I would definitely go back here on another occasion to pick up some of their speciality bread, which is likely where that heavenly smell was coming from! read more

Good place to check out if you are looking for good pastries and desserts to enjoy but don't want to drive downtown to pick any up. The pricing is similar to many of the downtown pastry and dessert shops. I wasn't a huge fan of the macarons but I enjoy some of the more unique savoury pastry rolls that this place had to offer like the honey garlic roll. read more

Review #8 of Yelp's 30 Day Challenge 2012 Been awhile since I visited this little bakery. It's a mere hop, skip and a jump from where we live and my kids school. They have the most delicious pastries and treats that I want to take one of everything home!! When I stopped in it was over lunch and so I decided to buy a chicken & vegetable quiche. I further tempted my palate with a pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) for desert (because I've been good, right?!). I brought them home so I could heat up the quiche and devour everything without anyone watching (tee hee). Oh la la I was brought back to France for the duration of my meal. The quiche was light, it was fluffy, it was buttery, it was full of flavour and it was flaky. How is it even possible to find a pastry that meets every expectation? (it's a good thing!) And oh my word the pain au chocolate was out of this word. Flaky, buttery, delicious. YES I remember when I was here the last time.....it must have been logged in the right lobe because memories of buttery, flaky pastry came flooding back to me. Fantabulous. If you haven't been here before Run...don't Walk. read more

Absolutely delicious. Affordable prices, a massive selection, bilingual, and made with care right in front of you. The quintessential French café and bakery in the YYC NW. Hands down. Every time I have come here I have not been disappointed, whether it's with their tea, sandwiches, pastries, baguettes, or anything else. Service with a smile to boot. Bravo! read more

Eclair de Lune has the best croissant in town, tasty, fresh, big! The display is showing more and more nice pieces: mousse, chocolate cake, tarts, salty snacks, etc... Colorful and very attractive, it's worth spending some times to choose one or more pastries. Give it a try, the baker is passionate about what he is doing and always open to hear about your tasting experience. read more

I can't believe this only has 4 reviews. This is my favorite bakery in Calgary. If you like flaky, buttery pastries, there is no other. The cheese sticks, the ham and swiss croissant, 3 cheese croissant are among my favorite choices there. I have never met anyone who does not like the cheese sticks. I stop in every other week for a treat. It's not really a sit in place so I usually grab my goodies to go. Also be sure to give your croissants a quick nuke to melt the cheese a bit. I got this really fancy chocolate cake there once which was excellent and I don't really like cake so that says a lot. They have a large selection of desserts like creme brulee, fancy creme puffs, fruit tarts, meringes etc. I prefer the savory stuff. My wife likes the sweets. The selection changes pretty frequently and depending on when you get there, the choices can be limited. But that's part of the fun, stopping by to see what they have. This is by far the best bakery to go to get your "fancy" snacks or if you want a heart attack and empty wallet. :) read more

This is one of my favourite bakeries in the city. It's a small mom and pop french bakery. I've tried many things here but my favourites are the ham and cheese croissant, pain au chocolat and the Croquant- Noisette is to die for. The quiches are also very good. If you want one of the croissants, you should drop by early; I find that by around 2pm, they are usually sold out of the croissants. The ham and cheese croissant has been featured on must eat lists in Calgary before. read more

Definitely among the top pastry shops in town! Their creme brulee is masterful with the sugar coating caramelized to order (offering this simple gesture speaks volumes to the chef's integrity and care for his craft and customers). They make a classic éclair with a flavorful and proper vanilla custard filling (no whipped cream here!). Their croissants are flawless; light and buttery with the most delicate crust. Their tartelettes are simply amazing...so much flavor in them damn little cookies and baked perfectly! The tiramisu is exceptional, however, I'm a little greedy and would've liked just a tad more savoiardi. The chefs here are seriously talented. No gimmicky offerings, just the classics prepared at the highest level. My first time trying their desserts was at the Farmer's Market on Blackfoot Trail where they run a small booth. Thankfully, they have a brick and mortar place where I can get my fix during the week! I'm still waiting to try one of their traditional fruit tarts with the vanilla custard...may have to just request it. When their cafe opens up next door, I'll be able to enjoy a proper cup of joe with my desserts! UPDATE...I normally just review the food but the customer service here deserves praise...I've been here 3x in the last week hoping to find their fruit tarts for sale but to no avail...so I called in for a request and they were able to make them within the HOUR...now THAT'S customer service for ya!!! Unfortunately, the tarts are average at best....most people will enjoy them but I simply prefer a much richer custard. The tarts, themselves, are beautifully prepared, but the custard lacks color and taste. Surprisingly, most of the fruit tarts I've had around town are prepared this way, with a lightly colored custard and taste...call it sophisticated or refined, but if I had the choice I would still prefer taste over looks. I was in Paris recently and took the opportunity to hit as many pastry shops as I could and nearly all of them offer that rich yellow custard. Nevertheless, when compared to others around town, Eclair's tarts can hang with the best of them. ;) read more

We walked in this store one afternoon hoping for a relaxing chatting time based on the great review. What we found is pricey treats, OK selection, and difficult parking to maneuver in. The store did not look very appealing from the outside or inside. Would not come back. read more

Walking into their unassuming bakery is like walking into a bakery in France- the selection of baked goods is extensive making it almost impossible to chose just one item to try. The 3 cheese croissant was unbelievable- so much so that I bought a second! Very impressed with the quality of the food, and the prices. A little hard to find but worth the search! read more

The desserts are just crazy good. Not to sweet but very very tasty. Have been swinging by and getting some of the Quiches to reheat at home for lunch or dinner and have been really pleased. I went to the bakery for lunch today and am very disappointed with the experience ..they have always been a favourite of mine but today has me rethinking that. I ordered the salmon quiche and was unable to eat it and the sandwich my son had tasted bland. The deserts usually so good were also not up to par. If this were my first experience I wouldn't go back but because I have had many good experiences I will give it one more try. read more

I came here for the first time hoping to pick up a few pieces of cake for a birthday. As I was afraid they'd run out of pastries, I stopped by around 2pm. A woman working at the drinks counter looked at me as I entered but didn't bother greeting me before returning to her work. I went up the flight of stairs to their pastries section and was quite disappointed at the nearly empty display cases. The woman working back here came out to help me and when I asked about the possibility of more selections coming out that day, she told me to come back after 5pm. After running a few errands, I returned to find two flavours of tarts, an eclair, and two different chocolate cakes available. I decided to grab a couple of tarts and a chocolate cake. I didn't get a chance to try the fruit tart but the lemon meringue tart, which I liked, was tangy with the right amount of sweetness to balance it out. The chocolate mousse cake was not quite what I was expecting though. It was super dense and rich so after having about 1/3 of the piece, I had to put it back in the fridge for later. I would like to come back again to try more cakes but seeing how they seem to have trouble keeping their desserts in stock, I might end up having to look elsewhere for treats. read more

I am visiting family from out of town and was looking for a good lunch place. My sister recommended this to me, and I was very impressed. Awesome selection of pastries and desserts. For lunch, I had a sausage roll and a quiche, and both were very well done. The pricing was very reasonable as well. C$23 for three lunch items and three desserts of high quality. The service was friendly and attentive. I ordered each item one at a time and sat outdoors to enjoy. Then I came back in and ordered plenty of food to take back to family. read more

Second time I try pastries / cakes from this bakery - ABSOLUTELY MEMORABLE! The quality of ingredients shines through the flaky, airy, elegantly flavoured creations. I have enjoyed their tarts and petit four, which are the perfect afternoon indulgence. I have also gotten their cakes and I can say they are among the best I have ever had. Their hazelnut praline mouse cake is incredible. This recipe is often so rich and overwhelming in other bakeries, but not here! The praline is crunchy and perfectly hazelnutty, the mousse is not too sweet and perfectly airy, the chocolate cover was simply elegant. I have also tried their roaster veggie sandwich on a delicious milky-buttery bun. Totally amazing. The owner is friendly and the space is pleasant.
