This bakery has the best donut I have ever eaten in my life! I had the strawberry cream donut. The donut was so soft and fresh and the cream filling was light, fluffy and absolutely delicious! Check your bill before paying I have had wow bakery on my list to visit in calgary for a while now. Once inside there are endless options for desserts. I went straight for the cakes and got a matcha chiffon and cheesecake. Both were $34.95. The matcha chiffon cake was light and airy but mostly tasted like whipped cream. It was good but i didnt feel like it was anything special and i probably would not order this again. The cheesecake though was a hit and is very delicious and creamy. I also got a matcha croissant and Japanese mochi cheese pastry. Somehow those two items were $15!!! What a ripoff they over charged me somehow and I didn't notice until I got home the huge price gage. For this I was left with a sour taste in my mouth and won't be coming back. When I bought the cakes they offered me decorations for it and I asked if they were complimentary. They said yes and obviously I was charged!! Check your bill before leaving this place! WOW Indeed! One of the best bakeries have ever been in Calgary! Love this bakery so much. Just bought assorted pastries and bread from here for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed their offering. The bakery is clean and so cute! They had all sorts of green tea pastries, red bean buns, and other specialty bread. It's hard to say which pastry was our favorite, but we definitely loved their sweet garlic bread, strawberry cream cheese danish, and their sausage bread. I didnt get to try their red bean donut, but I am already planning on coming by soon and that is my favorite pastry of all time. They also offer cakes and special order cakes that you need for events. Definitely coming back and recommending WOW Bakery to friends and family! read more

My first time trying their earl grey cake and I fell in love!!! I couldn't believe such a simple basic looking cake could taste so heavenly! The cake is so moist not too sweet but perfect flavour and the cream is the most lightest airy cream that really pulls the whole cake together every bite I need a little bit of cream! Those other cake places that make beautiful designs and over the top looking cakes all taste worse than Betty Crocker inside so I really wish wow bakery could make amazing shapes and designs with their cakes because I would order this everyone's birthday! read more

The cake is decent but the service is awful. Almost like we are causing inconvenience to them by being their patrons. My husband, my son and I went to the Marda Loop location to get a birthday cake. At that time, the store has one table outside with people eating, no one inside and one family of four ( parents with two young kids) was behind us. It was just before noon. The family of four could order while we are looking but they seem to need more time to decide as well. I went up to the counter to tell the young female staff that we want to get the whole strawberry shortcake after spending maybe 3 minutes looking at the display cooler. "We will take the whole strawberry shortcake, please." The girl said something but I could not hear her well through her mask. "I am sorry?" Then she repeated again without changing volume. "I am so sorry but I could not hear you. are you asking me about writing on cakes?" I took a shot guessing since that was a common question I got asked a lot buying cakes. "HOW....WOULD...YOU...LIKE...TO....PAY...???" She finally raise her voice and asked me very very slowly like I could not speak English at all, with an attitude in her voice and without presenting the cake I asked, state the amount of purchase or saying anything else. " You have to order a day before to get writing on cake." she throw me that piece of information and turn around to the back to get the cake without hearing my reply. I did not want to ruin my husband's birthday so I finalized the purchase without saying a word and left. Went home and wanted to give my two cents about this experience since myself had been running a small retail business and always like to receive feedback regarding my staffs. While I was writing my review, my husband told me about a similar experience he had with his friend at WOW chicken. Did a little research and realized they are owned by the same owner. Long story short, the food is decent but the service will depends on your luck. There are other awesome places in Calgary that offer great Korean style chicken and Asian style cake with great service. And I will never want to take my chances with them anymore. read more

Great find in a somewhat strange location north of Chinook mall. This is a Korean bakery so they've got some traditional Asian-inspired baked goods that appeal to most. I haven't tried many of the treats here...except I keep coming back for the same cakes -- the green tea and earl grey chiffon. Yum! (Or should I say WOW -- haha). If you're looking for a light cake that's not super sweet and covered in luscious whip cream delight (hopefully I am making it sound as good as it tastes), this is a great option. We special order ours every time as we find they taste more fresh -- I've had a single serving cake from the display before and the cake wasn't nearly as fresh, soft, puffy and light!! What a great find, I was In the Same plaza as Wow bakery and decided to walk in, and now I'm hooked, the baguettes are frickin amazing, and the sweets pastries are delicious and yummy. I bought a couple cakes recently for my friends birthday and they were very good, very light, tasty and full of flavour. WOW, really delicious cakes at WOW Bakery! A recently opened bakery just north of Chinook Centre, WOW offers a plethora of baked goods. Upon entering, your senses are flooded with a warm, welcoming, carb-y goodness. This is a Korean bakery so you'll find some Asian inspired flavours like matcha and black sesame amongst the usual bakery suspects. Clean and bright, there's a wide variety of savoury and sweet pastries, cookies, macarons, Danishes, rolls and breads. But their beautifully decorated tarts and cakes are my favourite. We have gotten the Strawberry Swiss Roll, Fruit Cocktail and Chiffon cakes and all are fabulous. They use fresh and in-season ingredients for desserts that are light, not too sweet and perfectly moist. (And who doesn't love moist things.) Call ahead for the full-sized cakes and tarts although they have been able to accommodate last minute dessert emergencies - they'll even give you complimentary candles and a disposable knife for the cakes. There is a bit of a language barrier but they are so gracious and kind that those details are easily worked through. The ladies are so sweet you'll want to take one home too, but that would be a felony. The individual bakery items can be hit or miss. I have found some to be too dry (perhaps a one-off loaf) or too adventurous for me (like a corn and hotdog curry bun). But good lord, skip the kidnapping and go for the (moist) cakes! read more

If you're korean or you've been to a korean bakery then you know how legit Wow Bakery is. The bread here is so good and no other bakery in YYC does it like them. It reminds me Paris baguette but actually way better, and TBH the prices are pretty reasonable (though they raised their prices a little bit) My favorite is the cream/red bean bread. Also their cakes are awesome, the earl grey chiffon, chocolate cake, sweet potato cake are all top notch. Come early to get a good variety, the location beside Chinook is my favorite! read more

Nice bakery but go early as they sell out of a lot of their pastries by later in the day! A big change from the typical Chinatown Asian bakery where everything is high quality and presented beautifully. It is a Korean and Japanese bakery, more expensive but worth it and still reasonable. Everything here is delicious, before closing they usually have a 20% off to 30% off on pastries just to sell everything to make sure nothing goes to waste! Spicy croquettes are a must have! 1 star off as they microwave their baked goods in plastic, so we usually just ask them to heat them up in the paper lining in the trays which work perfectly fine read more

I think my favorite so far is the Rocky - a giant sized flaky croissant but shaped like a muffin. I can't decide if it's a brioche or a cruffin - but it's worth the trip. I started going here about 2 ish months ago, their pastries and cakes are DELICIOUS. I've never had something I didn't like. The quality is consistent and very well made. Although this is where my problem starts. Everyday at around 6pm they put the fresh pastries on sale and a couple times a week I would go down and purchase these delicious treats. Depending on the price of the item they'd be on sale for 2-3 dollars. Then one day I come it to buy my sweets and the store was busy, everyone was buying what was on sale. I realized that they changed the price to 3$ for all of them. But then today I went in and as i walk in I see they changed it again but this time to 20% off... 20% off is hardly anything, especially compared to what the sale prices were before. I'm very disappointed that they care more about making money than keeping their customers satisfied. They saw how many people were coming in and enjoying their food so they've cheaped out. I'm really disgusted especially since this is not the only thing that they've done to disappoint but I have gone 2 times between when they listed they were open and they weren't there, it was 10 am and they open at 9- they were closed. It was 6:30 and they close at 7 and no one was to be seen. Anyways all of this just shows me they really couldn't give a fuck about their loyal customers, and that's what's truly disappointing here, they just want money. read more
