know I was about to be OD disappointed.
We kept things pretty basic and got a plain croissant, along with their holiday special hot dog croissant, which was shaped like a little dachshund. Honestly, it was pretty cute! The two items came out to around $13, so not the cheapest snack, but not the worst either.
Food: 2/5
I'm not gonna lie to you, I didn't even think a croissant could be THIS plain. The outside looked perfect, and the texture seemed like it was going to deliver that flaky, buttery goodness you expect from a good croissant. But then I bit into it, and the inside was just... bread. Plain bread.
Like, how is this even possible?! How did you manage to get the flaky texture and everything looking right, but somehow have so little buttery flavor? It was giving me more of a basic dinner roll than a croissant. I was genuinely confused.
Then we tried the hot dog croissant special. Unfortunately, the pastry itself had a slightly burnt taste around the tip, which wasn't ideal. Luckily, the hot dog saved it a little because it added some savory flavor and made the whole thing more enjoyable than the plain croissant.
Would I intentionally come back just for these two items? Honestly, no. Maybe I ordered the wrong things. Maybe the fruit desserts or cakes are what people actually come here for, and I just completely missed the point. But based on what I tried, I was pretty disappointed.
Vibes: 4/5
I will say, the bakery itself was super cute and had that very trendy Flatiron vibe. It was also PACKED, so clearly people are coming here for something! The place definitely looked the part, and I can see why it catches your attention when you're walking by.
All in all, I'm a little torn because the bakery was cute, the pastries looked promising, and I really wanted to love it. But when your plain croissant somehow tastes like plain bread, it's hard to get excited about coming back.
Maybe I picked the wrong items, and I'd be willing to believe their cakes and fruit desserts are better. But am I going to make a special trip back to find out? Probably not. For now, it's a 2/5 from me. Cute bakery, trendy vibes, but the croissants just weren't doing it for me!
