I know my nieces love treats, and when I was picking up my youngest from school I just happened to pull up Yelp and see what was around. My sister and her family are vegan, so we did scope that out before going, and they have a vegan and gluten-free chocolate chip cookie. It's huge! The dairy options are much more diverse... I ended up deciding on a s'mores cookie and sticky toffee banana cookie. Let's break them down: S'mores - it literally had chocolate bits, melty marshmallow in the middle, and it was covered in Golden Grahams... I haven't had those since I was a teenager!!! What a treat. Sticky toffee 'nana - banoffee is what I hear some people call it these days, but that's the kind of cookie that it was, and it was amazing. Vegan GF chocolate chip - I was excited to have an option for my sister and niece's, but we all agreed that it was rather plain. I tasted it after having my other cookies and I was like "that's it?" I have been here more times than I can count. This time I couldn't control myself and ordered 5 cookies ($34). I ordered the chocolate chip, cookies n cream, s'mores, Bailey's Hot Cocoa, and the crispy mallow. The s'mores and crispy mallow were pretty similar, but the crispy mallow was much chewier. S'mores has been one of my favorites for years, but I think the crispy mallow just creeped ahead by a little bit on the favorites list. I love coming in to try the seasonal cookies, but I was disappointed by the Baileys Hot Cocoa cookie. It was heavy on the baileys and light on the everything else. The baileys flavor was intensely overwhelming. I couldn't eat more than 1 bite unfortunately. Service was quick and friendly as always! This place is absolutely dangerous for my wallet b/c I think these cookies are top notch. Anything with s'mores or marshmallows- I am signing up! The s'mores cookie was great and I am not embarrassed to say that I demolished this before I arrived to the bus stop. Based off of the s'mores cookie that traveled from NY to Seattle and then in to my belly. The cookie held up really well, super crispy edges thanks to the golden graham coating, soft gooey chocolate center, marshmallows...yum. Every bite was good. I found the center a smidge too gooey but that's a personal thing, it wasn't so gooey that it would fall apart in my hands like some places. Cookie isn't too sweet and has great texture. I think the only thing that could "maybe" make it better would be if the marshmallow top had been lightly torched for the fire/toasted feel. Overall, one of the best s'mores cookies I've had and can easily say I found my new favorite NY cookie- especially since city cakes closed. Tried the shortbread and it was fine, had a hint of lemon. Funny Face Bakery is such a cute bake shop known for its cookies! For my dietary restriction folks, there is only one type of cookie available which is the vegan gluten-free chocolate chip cookie. The cookie itself has a really thick inside with a gooey texture and tons of chocolate chips. I think it's a great quality cookie! I do wish some of the decorated cookies were vegan, but I know it's probably difficult to make. It's still really cool to see all of them in store!! I usually go to IPIC across from Funny Face Bakery, and typically visit after 8 PM, so this bakery has always been closed by then. However, I had an earlier booking recently and finally noticed this bakery. The decor outside was so pretty, I had to go in! Once inside, I was greeted with great music and a spacious layout. They didn't have all their cookies on display, but it was still a cool place to take photos. I was curious to try some cookies, and the cashier was super nice. She asked if I was looking for something in particular, and I asked which cookies were soft and which were hard. She explained that the hard cookies are the ones with designs of celebrities or dogs, while the soft ones are just regular cookies. I also asked if the display cookies were the ones I'd receive, and she reassured me that the cookies are baked fresh in the back. I ended up buying mini cookies and was really impressed with how cute the store was--it's definitely Instagram-worthy! There were people coming in and out, and I even asked if there was another location since I hadn't noticed this one before despite going to IPIC every week. The cashier mentioned there's another store in Manhattan, and that this location has been open for over three years, which really surprised me! We took the cookies to the movie theater to enjoy, but unfortunately, they weren't fresh--they were hard, not soft as I had hoped. I had specifically asked if they would be soft, and the cashier said yes, so it was disappointing. I came closer to closing time, so maybe the cookies were fresh in the morning but had become stale by night. I'd love to give the bakery another try and plan to visit earlier next time. They also offer custom cookies, which would be adorable for a birthday party or gift. Overall, I recommend stopping by earlier in the day to get the freshest cookies. Okay yes, I agree - the BEST chocolate chip cookie I've had in a while. It was even good the next day. The Chocolate Chip cookie has a very thick consistency, moist, and rich in chocolates (the chocolates are more on the sweeter side, so I'd say semi-sweet milk chocolate lol). We did also get the Drake sugar cookie - taste wise, it's alright just a normal sugar / shortbread cookie.
