3 pieces Shrimp Tempura HH. Nicely battered and fried.
David G.

So many restaurants in Cherry Creek North are overpriced and underwhelming. It is really nice to stumble upon ( thank you Yelp) a great restaurant like Sweet Ginger that is the exact opposite. Great HH with a great selection of appetizers, sushi rolls, drinks, and beers. Nice ambiance. Even though it is located downstairs there is plenty of natural light ( don't dig the disco edm version of pop songs....but we cant get it all? right?) Service was warm and friendly. The food was really good. I liked my tempura, wings, rolls....it was all good. It aint Sushi Den ...wow...but than again it is not Sushi Den Wow....how much was the bill (WTF?) Highly recommend and will be coming back over and over. Thanks guys.

I really like this restaurant. The staff here are all very nice. The food is very fresh. After each meal, I always have a drink. Please stay for a while here!

Snow crab, toro, volcano roll

The atmosphere at Sweet Ginger is honestly lovely. I sat on their outdoor patio, and the setting couldn't have been more perfect--beautiful flowers all around and ideal weather. It made for a really relaxing environment. Our waiter (I wish I remembered his name!) was friendly, attentive, and answered all of my questions patiently, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. I came in really excited to try their sushi, but the quality of the fish and crab was shockingly low. The fish had a strong, unpleasant smell that hit before it even reached my mouth--not a good sign. The toro (fatty tuna), which is usually my favorite, was especially disappointing. It was the worst I've ever had--mushy, off-smelling, and just hard to eat. The only thing that was somewhat enjoyable was the peach martini, which was light and refreshing. As much as I wanted to like this place, I wouldn't come back. With sushi, freshness is everything--and sadly, that was missing here.

Freaking delish! They have a good assortment of sushi, viet (pad thai), chinese.... all was really good and the Washburn was actually hot yes! Service was awesome and every dish we had got demolished. Also order chicken fried rice togo just to see. Way more reasonably priced compared to near by competition, to us, no competition! No comparison, walk another half block!

Used to love this place! However, I ordered sushi to go tonight and got home to an interesting looking sushi roll. When I called them to let them know they told me my food was supposed to look that way. ‍ Anyway it may be safe to eat but it doesn't look good so I ended up throwing everything away. this place used to be top notch in my eyes but has gone downhill. If you do order to go just ensure they properly package your meal and don't put hot items on top of raw food. Hope this helps.

This review is based on a takeout order- however I will start with saying that the restaurant itself is very quaint, I'd love to return and experience their wait service. I love the low-lighting atmosphere. Everything is fresh, and I could tell that by the taste. I've had a hard time finding good sushi in Colorado, and this place really hit the mark. The sushi did not taste old or fishy at all- very fresh and delicious. I also tried a side order of fried rice, and it was amazing. It tasted just like hibachi rice, which is a huge plus for me. They were quick and friendly with my order. I'll definitely be back!

Great food! The server was quick and attentive! The patio was very nice with plenty of space and umbrellas.

I was absolutely in love with this adorable place. The patio is so cute! There were so many options, as well as a decent lunch menu. I was very impressed with my Shashimi!

Sashimi Dinner

One of the best restaurants in Cherry Creek! Service was good and food was excellent. Love the location and the patio area too. Highly recommend!

I've now been to MAKfam Meta Asian Kitchen twice, and I can officially say this place has moved…read morefrom "really enjoyed it" to "I should probably stop pretending I won't be back again soon." Let's start with the jianbing. It's built on a scallion pancake base, which is a bit thicker than the more traditional version I'm used to, but honestly, I'm not mad about it. It's sturdy, flavorful, and generously loaded with steak. This is not a dainty, whisper-thin breakfast crepe. This is a confident, well-fed jianbing that wants you to be happy and full. The pork belly deserves its own moment. Actually, maybe a standing ovation. It's incredibly tender, deeply flavorful, and clearly treated with care. I had it in the spicy noodles and again in a bao bun, and both times it was excellent. Rich without being heavy, indulgent without tipping into too much. Pork belly doing exactly what pork belly is supposed to do. Now let's talk about the mala wings. These wings are spectacular. Like, "what every chicken wing dreams of becoming when it grows up" spectacular. Crispy, bold, numbing in all the right ways, and dangerously addictive. If you order one thing here, make it these. If you don't order these, I gently question your life choices. I also really appreciate MAKfam's unapologetic embrace of MSG. No fear, no fuss, just smart, thoughtful use of an ingredient that exists to make food delicious. And guess what? It works. Everything is savory, balanced, and satisfying without feeling overdone. Bottom line: this is a genuinely fun place to eat. The food has personality, confidence, and heart. From an Asian fusion perspective, it absolutely delivers, and it's easy to see why they've earned their Michelin mention.

Told 35-40 min wait to start the night and ended up waiting for slightly over an hour. This led to some subpar dishes ordered such as the Boa buns with stewed pork & spicy noodles that weren't spicy. The highlights were the scallion pancakes (small portion despite paying typical price) and the wings which were 5 out of 5 with big flavor & came ripping hot. Don't understand the hype on this place at all. The line got to 29 parties and the food is fine at best (besides the wings). Personally would not come back but the wings saved the night so GET THEM

The buns were good- but the mushroom sushi was out of this world!! I could have eaten a dozen more! For my main, I had the veggie curry ramen with tofu. Oh wow! So delicious! We were a party of 6 and placed in the corner on the other side of the restaurant. As it was an impromptu idea, we did not have reservations but we showed up right at 5pm and were seated immediately at the bar. Open kitchen experience so it was nice to watch the chefs preparing plates. We started with the eggplant bao which we liked. The bao was soft while the eggplant had a crispy exterior. Next up we got the oshizushi salmon in hopes of finding a closer location other than Temaki Den to enjoy the delicious bite. Temaki Den does it best. This is a close second that would satisfy the craving, to give it credit. My husband got the Jira ramen. It started out ok but then the arugula became overpowering. I got the Shio which was actually kinda spicy. It wasn't melting but it had a sharp spice. I wish there was some greenery in the bowl. The pork belly was a bit too fatty and had an abundance of bean sprouts which I don't like that much. I will say, I think I just ordered the wrong ramen. Overall, our experience was ok but we were not blown away. I would eventually come back to try more of the menu.

Karma Asian was the setting for another first date. I seem to have a lot of those lately, which…read moremeans I am becoming unintentionally qualified to judge restaurants not only by the food, but by the mood. Can you talk here? Does the decor help? Does the service make things easy? Do you suddenly regret needing the restroom halfway through the conversation? That's where Karma gets complicated. It's right on Broadway, in the middle of everything, and it clearly has a loyal following. The room is dark, funky, and full of objects, screens, carved wood, fish tanks, statues, gongs, and a general kitschy style. There is a version of that I usually like. Older restaurants can have character. A little weirdness can be charming. But dated and cared for is one thing. Dated and not especially clean is another. The service was genuinely friendly, and that deserves credit. Everything came out quickly and hot, which is always a big plus. The food itself was fine. The edamame was predictable and perfectly acceptable. The gyoza were not especially exciting and were rather bland, though apparently not bland enough to stop me from eating more than my share because, well, carbs. The pad Thai with tofu was decent, a little sweet, and a curious color. Not offensive. Not memorable. The bigger issue was the condition of the space. Some of the photos show it better than I can describe it. The vents were giving off some serious ick, and a few areas felt like they had not been updated, cleaned, or loved in a while. I do not need every restaurant to be shiny and new. I usually prefer places with a little history. But cleanliness matters. A lot. And then there are the bathrooms. To get there, you pass through a doorway with beads, which feels like it should lead you towards your destination. Instead, you enter what may or may not be a storage closet, and it is quite dark, there are chairs stacked everywhere, and suddenly you are on a questionable journey. You zig. You zag. Eventually, you find the toilet area, and the sink is shared outside the two bathrooms, which adds another little layer of "what is happening here?" It was not quite portable-toilet-in-a-Denver-public-park bad, but it was close enough that I thought about the comparison, and that is not where you want your mind to go. So yes, Karma has personality. Yes, the staff was kind. Yes, the food arrived hot and fast. And yes, plenty of people clearly love this place. For me, though, cleanliness is a big deal. A restaurant can be dated and still feel taken care of. Sadly, that was not my first impression here. Friendly service helped. The food was okay. But the overall condition of the physical space made it hard for me to imagine coming back. As for the first date? Stay tuned...

I had a cocktail with Empress Gin, Creme de Violette, Blue Matcha and Agave. The drink was creative and tasty. After that I had their spicy, crunchy roll with tuna along with a Tempura Bento with Shrimp. The Bento came with soup or salad. I went with the salad which was supposed to have Ginger dressing. However the dressing was a deep orange color and really tasted weird. I had the wife taste it and she also thought it was weird. The Tempura was decent but nothing special. All of the dishes we had were served on modern plates to give the dishes a modern flair. Our server was very friendly and attentive and the food was decent enough. So why the 2 star review? Well a couple of hours later my stomach felt upset and I ended up on the toilet the rest of the night. As this was my only meal of the day since breakfast, I'm pretty sure that Go Fish gave me food poisoning. Had this not happened I would have given this place 3 or maybe even 4 stars. I'm not sure what did it as the wife had some of the same roll I did and didn't get sick. I'm thinking it was that weird tasting salad dressing.

Our server Marvis was great, he greeted us so quickly and talked through his recommendations for cocktails. I ended up trying the Yuzu margarita, which he said was the best drink on the menu, and I absolutely loved it. My friend had a lemon drop and also thought it was perfect. We started with the magic mushrooms appetizer - I almost looked past this but It wasn't mushrooms at all. (Thank god). It was really unique and yummy. The nigiris were the standouts of the evening. - we tried the seared Ahi tuna, the grilled scallop, and the Unagi. Words cannot describe. If I could make a meal out of Nigiri alone, I would but with just two pieces per serving. It definitely adds up quick. We also got the big kahuna roll and the Pittsburgh roll. The big kahuna was delicious, with a spicy kick at the end thanks to the jalapeño. had a lot of depth of flavors and good texture. We finished off with the Ube crème brûlée, which was really rich and very Ube forward, definitely a unique and yummy dish. Prices are pretty standard for the area, for all this we each ended up paying about $80. Can't wait to come back and try more, and hopefully sit in Marvis' section again!
