It's Sweet Dough! It's Valentine's Day, and while I was out, I wanted to pick up a little something for the sweet thing in my life, and since I was on this side of town Yelp pointed me to this highly rated bakery nestled in the trendy new shopping center along NC-68 in High Point. When you enter this bakery, delicious smells hit you, and since they were busy due to the occasion, the smells were just awesome. It's very spacious inside, and I approached the counter to start looking at all the treats on offer. There was no shortage of selection, but I ultimately ended up on a big strawberry cupcake for my love, and a girl scout themed "thin mints" brownie for me. Both were packaged nicely by the woman behind the counter, and the price on both was good in my opinion as each were pretty large in size. Taking them home, I presented her the lovely pink box and she adored how everything looked! We both took a bit into ours, and while I would say both treats weren't a disappointment, we each agreed we have had better versions at other places in the area on similar items. Her strawberry cupcake was more just sweet than full of strawberry flavor, and my brownie while the icing and thin mint chunks on top were really nice, the actually brownie was slightly on the dry side. A glass of milk perked that up, but if I'm paying for a brownie, I want it to be better than what I can get out of a ready to bake box at home. Overall, it was pretty good, and I'd like to try some of the other items. They had some of the largest oatmeal creme pies I've ever seen, and that called to me for another date. Thanks dough! read more

Reasonable prices and so many options! We got a cheesecake and brownie. The cheesecake was so creamy and a good size slice. The server was friendly and even gave us a pair of Barbie inspired pink sunglasses as a freebie to celebrate 2 years in business. They also had a huge Barbie display and raffle prize packs. It made for a nice atmosphere. read more

My family and I have been back to Sweet Dough several times, and thankfully each time there has been a line. High Point doesn't need to lose this incredible place. We've added a new favorite to our list: the banana pudding! It's incredibly delicious and full of real banana not just plain old pudding. Our dog gets spoiled when we visit because she gets a pupcake when we come home. For whatever reason, it seems we have the same guy waiting on us every time. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful if we want to try something new or have questions. read more

Quite possibly the best dessert place I've been to. People are always nice and the desserts are all top notch. I haven't had a bad one yet. So many different options and each are packed full of flavor. Highly recommend!! read more

A friend recommended this place and all I can remember is "Sticky Buns". OMG! We got sticky buns, a chocolate brownie and an oatmeal cream pie. All I can say is 10 out of 10 for everything we purchased. There were so many good looking treats, I can't wait to go back. Customer service was great and the bakery itself is very nice, but simple. (4.5 stars) Lose one bakery, gain another. The same weekend that Amoroso's shuttered its Palladium location, Sweet Dough opened its doors a short hop down 68 next to Small Batch. Early impressions are favorable. Sweet Dough's storefront is bright and clean with plenty of seating. The bakery cases proudly display a variety of goodies from cupcakes and cakes to cinnamon rolls to pies to puddings. Though sold by the slice, whole cakes and pies are available, too. The drinks menu boasts hot and cold coffees as well as milkshakes and floats. For my first visit, I picked up banana pudding and a slice of key lime pie to share as well as a white chocolate mocha frappe. Pie prices run a bit high here ($5.50 for a not-huge slice), but there was otherwise no room for complaint. The staff were welcoming, and they will customize coffee drinks to your liking. Both of the desserts went over well. If "banana pudding" calls to mind a bright yellow, artificially flavored paste, prepared to be amazed by how much better an authentic version can be. Here, it's lighter and laden with real banana. The key lime pie was likewise legit, bringing just the right amount of tartness. Though its location's previous tenants didn't have much staying power, Sweet Dough's tantalizing selection of caringly crafted baked goods is reason to hope for greater longevity. read more

I've had a few things from here (a slice of the celebration cake, a regular and pecan cinnamon roll, a macaroon, and the cinnamon roll pound cake) and they've all been a little dry. Most recently, we ordered this pound cake with extra frosting (cost extra), but the frosting didn't even cover the entire outside of the cake so it was still dry (the bottom is the part of the cake that's the most dry/crispy so it was a bummer to see that that was the part that didn't have frosting). The moist part of the cake and the frosting are good. The service is always excellent at this bakery. It's also cute on the inside and they offer a lot of options. I just haven't been too impressed with the baked goods themselves, unfortunately. read more

I'd been meaning to check them out for a few weeks and I'm glad I finally did. It was difficult to choose from so many treats from sticky buns, macaroons, peanut butter pie and so many cakes. I finally decided on a sticky bun and pumpkin cream cheese cake bars. These choices were an excellent introduction. The sticky bun is generously portioned (it took me 3 rounds to eat it all) with its light bun, pecans, and delectable syrup that has a nice hint of maple. The pumpkin cake bar was HUGE..:it had to be 1/4 of a cake! This delight was pumpkin without being over seasoned with just the right amount of cream cheese so that they had a balanced relationship. My mouth was happy. The staff was very kind and patient and answered my questions. Even as it started getting crowded and I was trying to wait out the rush, they would still check on me asking if I had questions about something. They have a rotating menu with a few constants. The staff tells me sometimes the bakers get "in a mood" and a special guest star will appear. I will back again and again because I need to taste everything!!! read more

Pricing is worth the portion sizes. read more

I'm going to go so far as to say Sweet Dough is my new favorite bakery in the Triad area. They have so much to choose from and the variety is just incredible! From pies, brownies, cakes, sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, banana pudding, cruffins....I could keep going. My favorites thus far are the whoopie pie, banana pudding, dirt cake, oreo brownie and cinnamon rolls. Their prices are mind-blowing in comparison to other bakeries in the Triad, as well the size of the items themselves. The banana pudding is some of the best I've ever tasted. The dirt cake is so fluffy, creamy and just hits that sweet craving. The oreo brownie is dense, rich and literally one of the biggest brownies I've ever purchased. The whoopie pie is amazing. It's not as sweet as your typical whoopie pies and the icing in between the layers is creamy and pairs so well with the texture of the cake. The cinnamon roll really stands out to me. It can easily be shared by 2 - 4 people, depending on how much sweet you can stand in one sitting. The whole thing has this incredibly dense texture, and is marbled with crystalized cinnamon sugar. It really reminds me of the cinnamon toast my grandmother used to make for me when I was a kid, which is probably why this is my favorite dessert at Sweet Dough. There's something to be said for memories. Powerful things. Their staff has all been incredibly helpful and their prices reign superior to other bakeries. Everything, minus the pie slices, are under $5. As you can tell from my review, I've tried plenty and there really hasn't been anything I haven't enjoyed. Support local and try Sweet Dough. You won't be disappointed. read more

Serving up Goodies like Ciara and Petey Pablo the Sweet Dough Bake Shop is simply outstanding!! I can't get enough of that ginormous flaky cinnamon roll! It tastes like a honey bun with homemade icing! Love that fact that it's not too sweet. Better than Cinnabon imo. The banana pudding was light and fresh. The cool whip like mixture is definitely homemade. My cookies had a little crunch and the bananas were fresh. They've found the cheat code with this cinnamon roll bread pudding. I'm absolutely obsessed and it's an immediate DJ Cuisine the Food Guy fave! If you're in the HP area get your Fanny over there! 5 stars all the way! read more

Swet Dough has a bevy of treats: seasonal fruit cobblers, cake, sticky buns (massive!), cinnamon rolls, cake slices, brownies, cookies, etc. It's nearly impossible to get *just one* thing here! I'd high recommend the strawberry cake and sticky bun - both are incredible and super tasty. The two things I've had here that weren't stellar were the iced mocha and the snickerdoodle cookie. The iced mocha was predominantly milk vs coffee/flavor, and the snickerdoodle was rock hard (not crispy, almost like it had sat out for too long). Regardless, I will happily be back for the other tasty treats! read more

Fresh and delicious baked goods. The variety is awesome and the taste is even better. I got pineapple upside down cake, snickerdoodle cookies, and a blondie. The atmosphere is colorful and fun. The customers were enjoying theirselves and the music was just loud enough for conversation or easy listening. I will definitely be back for more delicious treats. I want to try their milkshakes next visit!!! read more

Sweet Dough - Tasty treats!!! - Bakeries Near Me - High Point, North Carolina

We went to sweet dough bake shop and ordered 6 cupcakes. 1) Red velvet: the cake part was a bit bland but the cream cheese frosting had a well-balanced flavor. 2.6/5. 2) Peanut butter chocolate: did not really hit the mark on the flavor profile. The chocolate cake base was a bit dry and bland and the peanut butter chocolate frosting was a bit too sweet..lacking the sweet & salty combination desired. 2.1/5. 3) blueberry lemon: this one was my favorite. The flavor was light but the frosting was nice and I recommend eating the lemon slice with it too! 2.9/5. 4) carrot cake: this one was okay. A bit dry and bland again. 2.4/5. 5) floral: not my style. Lacked the flavor profile one expects from a traditional sheet cake. 1.9/5. 6) death by chocolate: unfortunately, this was the worst of the bunch and I had the highest hopes for. The chocolate cake was a bit bland and the chocolate frosting tasted very...synthetic. 1.4/5. The service itself was nice! The bakery attendant accidentally dropped two of the cupcakes but replaced them right away! Overall, I would go back to try some of the other items because they looked amazing, but I'd pass on the cupcakes. I expected more from $4+ cupcakes. 2.2/5. read more

10 out of 10! So we come here occasionally for treats when we are in the mood, and it never disappoints. For my birthday party I told my husband and kids I wanted a cake from sweet dough, even though I've never had a cake from here. I just had a feeling the cakes would be amazing. My husband ordered me a chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting, my favorite combination, this cake did not disappoint. It was so good. Everyone at the party was so amazed at the flavor, and how moist the cake was. This was the first time I went back to my own birthday cake to eat it And still enjoyed it.
