Stopped in to Uncle Cheesecakes on Valentine's Day to pick up something sweet for my wife and I. Greeted by Uncle cheesecake himself, I was a bit alarmed to walk in to an almost empty cooler, but he quickly assured me he had plenty of fresh cakes in the back getting cut up and put in containers. He was very friendly, and quick to offer me their valentines specials, but I was on a mission and knew what I wanted. Knowing what my wife likes, and what I like, it was quick, to pick, a slice of peanut butter cup (not pictured) for her and a slice of Oreo cheesecake for me. Both looked fantastic, and after dinner, I was able to confirm they were even better tasting than they looked, creamy with the perfect amount of sweetness. Great visit, both my wife and I were happy with the sweet desert, easy to see how he made it on the Food Network's show Chopped! We'll be back, no doubt!

My wife and I were looking for a sweet to finish the Sunday (5:45 pm) and found Uncle Cheesecake trought Yelp. When we arrive we were greeted by the actual Uncle Cheesecake! He was so nice and in that moment prepare a blueberry cream for my wife, the options in the cooler were not her favorites. The slice was great and service excellent! We will come back for sure.

This is the place that made me like cheesecake again. I know what you are thinking... what kind of monster doesn't like cheesecake, and why is he in charge of Yelp in the Triad? Very simple. Every cheesecake I've had in my life was extremely rich, very dense, and mostly just in one very plain traditional flavor. The cheesecake at Uncle Cheesecake is different, and to me, in the best way. His cheesecake not only comes in a huge variety of flavors, but the cheesecake is more airy and light, it makes it so that a small spoonful isn't going to overpower you, I really enjoy it, though I am sure it is personal preference. My favorite is the Reese's cup cheesecake, which is no surprise, chocolate and peanut butter were meant to be together. Following that, it's the strawberry shortcake for me, which he says is his signature item. I can see why. It is so well balanced. This would be one I could order a whole cake, no problem. His store is mainly designed for take out, but there are a few tables inside and out. It's a great place to have dessert if you are dining at one of the many good restaurants in this area. Go see Unc!

Really good cheesecake! The prices have gone up, but again, really good cheesecake ! We got to meet the " Uncle " himself, very friendly and conversational. The cabinet was pretty bare, but we were there end of day, they still had our favorites, Oreo and Reese's slices, so we were happy customers.

I came here because a friend recommended it and I'm glad they did. For my first time there I ordered the Turtle Cheesecake and Bread Pudding. Both were delicious but I'll say my favorite was the Bread Pudding since I was in the mood for a warm dessert. Both desserts flavors were delicious. The Bread Pudding was moist and they poured caramel sauce on it when I bought it. The sauce it soaked in was perfect. The Turtle Cheesecake had a good Oreo crust to cheesecake ratio. I ordered my desserts early on a Saturday morning as I was close by. Thanks to the time I went there wasn't a line. I also ordered my desserts to go as I was out running errands. They do have indoor seating if you want to eat indoors. I plan on going back to try their other desserts and I'd recommend you try this place

This was a surprise treat for me, making it all the more sweeter! But I honestly did enjoy these cakes, especially the turtle brownie. The cheesecake was also nice, and I'd like to try other offerings from this place.

(3.5 stars) Greensboro firefighter Daniel Gray and his wife set up shop in this spot off Hickswood Road a few years back and have attracted quite a following since. If nothing else, the assortment justifies the hype. Uncle Cheesecake offers cheesecakes (including keto-friendly), cupcakes, bites, brownies, cake pops, dessert tacos (!!), lemonades, and slushies in a variety of flavors, several of which (such brownie bottom choco strawberry cheesecake and cherry Cheerwine cupcakes) are rarely found elsewhere. Anyone with a sweet tooth may have a hard time making decisions here. The cheesecake here is on the tangy side, which may surprise those expecting something sweeter. This actually allows the flavors of the toppings to shine, and in most cases the combinations work well. The cupcakes are more of a hit (the aforementioned Cheerwine) or miss (strawberry daiquiri - it sounds better on paper) affair, but the weekly BOGO nights are conducive to trying out different flavors. Inside, the bakery has little ambiance to speak of, which is hardly an issue given the amount of takeout business during a pandemic. Of a potentially greater concern: the number of maskless folks (owner included) you may encounter in a smallish space (though in fairness, this may not have been reflective of their norm). Alex Amoroso continues to hold the Triad's cheesecake crown, but Uncle Cheesecake should not be overlooked as an alternative. A multitude of fun flavors and dessert options make it worth a visit.

Cute cheesecake shop in high point. They also have cupcakes & cake pops. I'm not a HUGE cheesecake person, but these were very good. Really flavorful & creamy. Not overly sweet either. The space was clean the only thing was no one was at the front of house when I walked in but a nice young man came out to assist me. I think I will try the cupcakes next time I'm in the area.

I have never had this style of cheesecake before. The Carolina style as described is really fluffy and savory! I LOVED it! I am so glad this place exists! It will be replacing my usual my NY style cheesecake. Everyone should try this! I got the strawberry cheesecake (so delicious my mouth is watering just thinking about it!) and the Reese's slice- amazing as well!!

Updating my review from last time and bumping it up a star because of their cake pops. I think they need to scrap the cheesecakes and focus on other items. They do have cupcakes, which I haven't tried, but I did take a taste of my kid's cake pop and found it to be really good! Sweet icing, dense and sweet cake that tasted like it was soaked to keep from being too dry. They might have something there if they make that their focus. I don't want to make this review to dog on the cheesecake, but I maintain after giving it another go that it's not for me. I like all kinds of cheesecake. I am a cheesecake guy! I like NY style, Carolina style, Hawaiian style, Zamunda style (is that a style?)...I like it all! I'm sorry, but I do not understand the hype on the cheesecake here. It is creamy, yes, but it is also flavorless. It's one thing if you don't have a sweet tooth like me, but this is straight up bland. Even the caramel on my slice was flavor free. The crust at the bottom was a good texture but also no flavor. I finished my slice and Lace's because I have an eating disorder, but the cheesecake here is begging for some sugar. That would make a big difference. Do try the cake pops though! They're nice!

I could have eaten an entire cheesecake! Period. That is literally all this review needs to say, but I will go on. I have been to Sammy Gs a handful of times and never noticed this place sitting next door. I wish I had! It was incredible. Great service, clean location, and DELICIOUS cheesecake. I can't tell you how many times I have had cheesecake that was too rich and I couldn't eat it. I wanted to lick the box this came in, but I tried to stay classy! I picked up a piece of Reese's for my honey as well and he loved it. I asked if they offer their cheesecake in any local restaurants and she said she thinks they serve it at Sweet Ole Bills, but that was it. It's funny because Sweet Ole Bills is another one of my High Point favorites! Get your hurt to Uncles Cheesecakes, and I promise you won't regret it!

Snickers with peanuts cheesecake. The cashier told me it was like turtle cheesecake with peanuts, either way underwhelming.
    Myiah H.

This cheesecake was ok. I ordered two cheesecakes. The Oreo and the "Snickers with peanuts." The best part about the "Snickers with peanuts" was what was on top of the whipped cream and the crust. The actual cheesecake was pretty boring except for the huge chunks of peanuts throughout. The Oreo cheesecake had much more flavor and even though, purchased for someone else, I really enjoyed that one. Bc of the Oreo cheesecake, I'd return earlier in the day and try selecting from a wider range of options. I did come at 9:30 and they close at 10 so I guess options were limited I guess. Overall I enjoyed visiting the bakery bc I was able to read about his Chopped Competition and baking accolades on the walls.

They had offered samples of their lemon tart at the event, which stayed on my mind--so I came back and ordered the Lorraine-style quiche. It was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced by a fresh side salad. I paired it with a café au lait, which was equally well done. The ambiance is effortlessly chic--very much reminiscent of a European café--and it was lively during lunch. It's the kind of place where you can sit, linger, and people-watch... and SouthPark definitely showed up in style. At one point, several guests seated near us were speaking French, which added to the authenticity and overall experience. Service was warm and efficient, even with the crowd. The bakery itself is on the smaller side--you order inside and then head outside to sit and eat. I went on a Sunday, so it was very busy with a long line, but it moved quickly. When seating fills up, the neighboring restaurant allows use of their patio, which is a thoughtful touch. My friend enjoyed her quiche as well, and we both agreed it's a spot worth returning to--whether for a casual lunch, coffee, or a pastry break. I also order a few macarons to go and my family enjoyed them.

Review for Renaissance Patisserie…read more After relocating to Charlotte from San Francisco, one of the first things I searched for was a proper kouign-amann (pronounced queen-ah-mahn). It's a staple where I'm from, and when I discovered that Renaissance Patisserie carried it, I made the drive immediately. I'm happy to say--this place is the real deal. The kouign-amann here reminded me of the ones back in San Francisco. It wasn't quite as buttery or rich as some of the West Coast versions, but it was absolutely enjoyable--and most importantly, I finished every bite. That alone says a lot. Location & setting: Renaissance is tucked into the upscale specialty shops of SouthPark, in a lovely, polished shopping center surrounded by quality retailers like Williams Sonoma and several restaurants. Parking is plentiful and convenient, and once you step out of your car, you're welcomed into a charming outdoor courtyard that feels relaxed and refined. You'll immediately notice the bright yellow awning--it's cheerful and inviting--and inside, the bakery is just as charming. The black-and-white tile floors, small bistro tables, and beautifully arranged pastry case create a classic European feel. It's not a huge space--maybe six or seven tables--but it feels cozy, elegant, and thoughtfully designed. What makes it special: * A stunning pastry case filled with beautifully crafted desserts and laminated pastries * Skilled bakers and decorators--you can tell there's real craftsmanship behind the products * Friendly, efficient service * Apple Pay accepted (always appreciated) * Self-service water and condiments station * Clean, comfortable environment * A lovely outdoor patio that's perfect when the weather cooperates I do wish they occasionally experimented with more creative variations of the kouign-amann--perhaps seasonal fruit or specialty flavors--but even in its classic form, it's consistently a hit. I've brought these pastries to friends and gatherings, and they're always well received. What I appreciate most is that Renaissance delivers on quality and consistency. It may be a newer trend here in Charlotte, but these pastries have been a long-standing favorite in cities like San Francisco, and it's wonderful to see that level of craftsmanship available locally. Bottom line: Beautiful pastries, fair prices, great service, and a polished, welcoming atmosphere. This has become my go-to bakery in Charlotte, and if you appreciate well-made French pastries, you will not be disappointed.

It is located in a small strip mall off North Main Street with plenty of parking. The front of the Ice Cream Shop is decorated very lively and you can see how much they appreciate their High Point University customers from a large welcome sign they have up letting them know this. The first thing that got my attention when I went in, besides how clean and organized the place was, was the great variety of offerings they had. I've been in order Ice Cream Parlors that serve Hershey's Ice Cream before and was aware of the many flavors they have to offer, but here besides the 64 flavors, they seem to have a variety of ways to have your ice cream, as well as other items such as smoothies and frozen lemonade, just to name a few. And to motivate you to explore the different ways of having your ice cream, they have pictures on the wall showing them. Even though the place was small with very few tables and chairs, it was already decorated for the Fall with colored leaves all over and small pumpkins on the table, creating a festive ambiance in which to enjoy some good ice cream. A young lady greated me with a smile and gave me a warm welcome. Since I was in the area to attend a Dinner Party that evening, I didn't want to get anything large; just a medium size cup of a nice flavor ice cream. The employee was so nice and helpful that when I asked her about a flavor besides explaining it she offered to give me a try on a tiny spoon. I tried the flavor Road Runner Raspberry and I instantly loved it. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to read about what this flavor contained and see for yourselves how good it looked for a picture is worth a thousand words. I enjoyed having this wonderful flavor ice cream and the High Point University sign in the entrance made me remember my college years in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts, and how much I enjoyed going out with my friends for some ice-cream. I highly recommend this Ice Cream Shop and thank the owners of this family-owned business for providing this sweet spot where members of the community can come to spend some quality time with family and friends while they savor some good ice-cream.
