I spoke with a few staff members while placing my order, and everyone was incredibly sweet and helpful with my questions. I ordered six small (5") cheesecakes along with an assortment of cookies. The cheesecake flavors included crème brûlée, turtle, strawberries & crème, New York, white chocolate raspberry, and blueberry. I visited this shop after Art Crush in the Arts District. It was late and this was the only place open for dessert so late (past 9pm). They had so many options for everyone- not just cheesecakes! And even for the cheesecakes, they had so many different kinds. Some signature flavors and some seasonal. They moved the line along very quickly and the people at the counter were friendly. They had some indoor seating as well. The Kahlua espresso cheesecake was great! It had the consistency of NY Cheesecake, and tasted just like kahlua and espresso! I don't love when cheesecake has a mousse consistency and this did not. Would I come back? Yes!! My husband and I had a kid-free date night last week and we stopped in at Spotted Cow Steakhouse for dinner. We had to park up the street a ways and as we got out, I noticed we were across the street from this place called "Cheesecakes by Alex." As we were waiting on our food, I looked up this place and was amazed at the many types of cheesecake they offered (I included some photos, but couldn't capture ALL of it). They also were open until 10/11pm. I went to their Facebook where they were advertising that very day was National Cheesecake Day and all slices were only $3.50 each to celebrate. We stopped in as we left our dinner and we tried the traditional New York Style that has a bit of lemony-zing that I loved, as well as Chocolate Swirl, Strawberries and Cream, and a White Chocolate Raz. You walk in and order with one of the many lovely ladies and then pay at the register while they prepare your order. Everyone is friendly and attend to you immediately. The cakes and cheesecakes are delicious. They even have low or sugar free cheesecakes, so there is something for everyone. My only thing is that they don't keep creamers or milks for you to adjust your coffee, they only keep the sugar out. Wow!! Best cheesecake flavors I've ever seen and tasted. It's taken me a long time for some reason to try this place, but I'm glad I finally got here. They have an array of amazing flavors and what I didn't know is that it's pretty big inside and more like a coffee shop you can go hang out and they serve more than just cheesecake ! They have tarts, cakes, cookies, eclairs and muffins and so much more. A full coffee bar service as well. I loved the cool feel inside and the friendly staff. We went after dinner at the pub across the street , because even though you're full you have room for dessert! We mulled over all the choices and settled on the key lime and the strawberry red velvet. Both were awesome and creamy and had great subtle tones of flavor of each fruit. We finally made it here after I don't know how many months. While downtown we stopped to get some sweets for us and also for some friends who have been under the weather. We decided on Cheesecakes by Alex because we have wanted to stop here so many times and just haven't had a chance. So today was our big day it was pretty empty but we came in the early afternoon and there was a lot of choices to make. We decided on one that was pecans and bourbon those two things go to great. I think my wife and I agreed that the slice was a bit small to share. So one of two things needs to happen on our next visit either she at I need to get our own or a whole one to take home. Although this visit marked our first time in the store, it's not the first time we've eaten some delicious goods from here as we've had cheesecake by way of a family member's celebratory contribution to a party and other occasions. So we thought, why not see if we can pick up birthday cupcakes for my son on the way to get him from school. What an impressive selection too! Finally came here! Loved the flavors they offered. They have gluten free and Suger free options too for those who need to know. We shared a bourbon pecan cheesecake slice. Absolutely delicious. My only complaint is for almost $6 a slice, a bigger slice would have been nice. To me it was very petite. Their one pound boxes of cheesecake which are around $12 are a nice gift idea and come frozen so they are travel friendly. The one pounders have about 4-5 flavors to pick from, even pumpkin. When I got to Winston, I wanted some dessert before heading to work. I performed a Google search, and this came up. I stopped by here around 5PM on a Thursday afternoon. I've been to the location in Greensboro several times since I live there. I figured this would be a good spot to grab a dessert. This location is located in downtown Winston-Salem on Trade Street. When walking in, the first thing that I noticed is that it is much larger than the location of Greensboro. They also have a patio area. Honestly, I was really indecisive in what to get. I wanted to get something I hadn't gotten before. The regular cheesecake (key lime, New York, pumpkin, and pineapple) is $5.25. The special flavors (chocolate brownie, turtle, gluten-free, and sugar-free) are $5.75 per slice. The premium flavors of cheesecake are $5.50 a slice and there are multiple flavors. They have so many options beyond cheesecake including layered cake, cupcakes, muffins, cookies, coffee, etc. The prices went up some time ago but that's not surprising due to everything else rising including the cost of materials and ingredients they utilize. I ultimately decided to get peanut butter cup cheesecake at 5:07pm, as I don't think I've had that before. I utilized Apple Pay during checkout. After getting my slice of cheesecake, I stop by the restroom on my way to check out the patio area. They have two restrooms that are gender neutral, which is awesome. The restroom I utilized was clean. My only complaint with the restroom would be the discolored paint on the wall and the various patterns on floor that simply seem unfinished. However, I think the different blue could've been purposefully for Halloween. I didn't notice the locations until I looked back at the photo I took. Thats neither here nor there, tbh, lol. The floor in the bathroom matched the rest of the floor in the business. If the floor (everywhere) was more uniform then it will have a more aesthetically pleasing, to me. Personally, the condition and aesthetics of the restroom matters just as much as the rest of an establishment. The patio area was nicely shaded for this time of day. There was no one out there. I really wish that I had came with someone. It would've been great to sit and talk as it was a beautiful day. (Side Note: If you're reading this, and you need a food buddy, hit me up! I truly do need more friends in the area!). Nonetheless, There were three tables with four chairs. Two of the tables had umbrellas on it. There was also two chairs close to the back fence. I like the black and white artwork that was on the wall. I also liked the artwork that was on the wall inside too. I took my cheesecake and went to my job, which was maybe less than five minutes away. I slowly ate it over the next 1.5 hours as I did my session lol. While it was good and definitely gave the peanut butter flavor, I realized that a regular slice of cake would've satisfied my cravings more so that the cheesecake. read more

My wife searched for a dessert option and decided we had to check it out. We were only a few blocks away and were able to find a parking place easy enough. She had thought they only had cheesecake but when we walked in we saw much, much more! Oh my goodness, cookies, brownies, cakes, muffins, pastries and cheesecakes and everything looked delicious! Oh and the prices, wow - we were blown away - cookies, for 50 cents each (they are small but that just gives you a reason to order one of each and the ability to try them all), assorted cream pies for $1.50, assorted biscotti for 75 cents, cupcakes for $2.50, large muffins for $1.65 and slices of at least 20 different types of cheesecake for $5.00 per slice. This would be incredibly dangerous if we lived in the area! We also thought it was cool they offered seating inside where you could sit and enjoy your dessert while enjoying friends or family. I have people with allergies in my family and they refuse to show ingredients are even TELL YOU what's in the desserts. I'm a regular at the location on trade street, I saw Alex on TV the other day, I've never been more disappointed in a local business. I talk to a lot of people at the store, I know what happens there. As someone who's favorite quality is honesty, I'm disappointed in the blatant falsehoods he spread on live television. I understand that there have been small shoplifting incidents, but these issues are almost always due to desperation, of just wanting something to eat, or drink. And I did not see a single mention of the fact that one of his own employees was shot at right next to the store. Seeing as the cops only showed up 15 minutes later. If you want my honest opinion, I don't trust a business or a business owner willing to make up stories about the goings on, i think that's disgusting. And I will not be returning again. read more

I really wanted Cheesecake by Alex to really hit the spot. I've had Apple, strawberry and plain cheesecake from here and it all was just so light for me. I wanted to take a little lemon hint and big chunks of fruit in it but it just was not giving what I want it to give. I will have to try it again to see if maybe I am just trying the wrong ones but I have also gotten their lemon blueberries cake and again, I was expecting bold flavors from some heavy hitting choices for the cake. However, it just didn't. There were subtle hints of lemon but no strong blueberry flavor, mostly just the texture of them. It was a very pretty cake too it just not extremely flavorful. The store is very dark lit on the inside with red floors and or walls. There is a weave line, kind of like going to the airport through TSA. The line and be long but moves. The staff is always nice and ready to help but I'm going to try this place oneeeeeee more time and see if I can love it like the locals. Visiting friends in Winston-Salem and we went to dinner up the street and came here for dessert. For a dessert spot, the place was roomy which is good because they welcome dogs. I think I also saw treats for your four legged friends but I wasn't paying close attention. I liked the rustic decor and openness of the floor plan. My only problem was the number of cheesecake flavors to decide from. If I wasn't flying out the next day, I would have gotten several flavors but I had to decide on one and went with the creme brûlée. The cheesecake itself is thick and creamy and for the price, you get a nice sized piece. I didn't care for the flavor too much as it didn't taste like a creme brûlée but I tried someone else's turtle cheesecake and it was divine. I also had a taste of the peanut butter flavor and it was good too. I can't wait to return to Winston-Salem to try more cheesecake. Visited again this past weekend! Tried their low-sugar Kahlua expresso cheesecake and bananas fosters cheesecake. The low-sugar Kahlua expresso still had a good amount of sweetness that paired perfectly with the bold and bitter expresso. The crust seems to be made with a type of nut that gave a better texture that contrasted the creamy and thick cheesecake. The bananas fosters tasted exactly as it sounded, I was surprised to how accurate the flavor was. It has a tradition graham cracker crust and was very delicious. I've tried the coconut guava cupcake and a slice of the banana pudding cake. The banana pudding cake doesn't have near enough filling and the icing is too sweet.
