I highly recommend trying this gym out if you haven't already. Cassie the owner does a marvelous job of picking the exercises and going over them in detail. She is also very personal and knows everyone's name and pushes you up to your fitness level. The gym is very spacious and has everything you need. I signed up for ten classes and try to go 1-2 times per week based on my schedule. I push myself way more than I would by just exercising on my own which is why I choose to go here. The first class is free so go check it out and I think you'll be very pleased that you did. read more

Quality fitness and fashionable clothes for males and females I would recommend to anyone looking, to sweat adorably

If you like working out in a group and challenging workouts involving multiple pieces of equipment, you'll probably like this place. I do! A Sweat Health + Fitness class is a 50-minute long of high-intensity circuit training workout that moves you through a series of stations. It's challenge and it's fun! The stations change every class, which means you get to try something new every day. The stations can include body weight exercises, kettle bells, dumbbells, bosus, medicine balls, spin bikes, trx bands, and resistance bands. It's a great workout because the exercises are measured in time, not repetitions, so you really push it for X amount of time before moving to the next exercise. The stations are designed so every muscle gets used. It's easy to modify the work out to be harder or easier. I'm a fan! read more

I have been going to Sweat for the last few years and thought it was high time for me to tell others what a great experience it has been for me. Everyone has been great at Sweat. I would like to particularly thank Ashley and Jason for their expertise in understanding the human body, their natural enthusiasm for their work, and for the personal attention they provide to each and every client. They make working out a positive and fun experience. They are supportive, encouraging, and pay attention to each individuals needs. When clients have weaknesses they are quick to adapt the exercises preventing injuries. The classes are challenging and refreshing. read more

One word, Fusion! If you haven't tried this class then you're missing out. It's my new favorite workout- the combination of the spin and the weight work outs are amazing and the team @ Sweat does an amazing job to keep you motivated the whole time and energized for the rest of the day. Kudos to you. Cassie-Karl and Leslie for great workouts! read more

Please note that this is not your regular group fitness class!!!! Unlike other fitness studios, Cassie takes the time to learn your name and will push you on your own personal level. Her classes are no joke, you will work up a sweat and feel the rewarding soreness right after :) I used take Cassie's studio classes in the city and she is nothing short of amazeballs. When she left, I freaked out because her classes were the only ones I would take! Thankfully, her new studio is closer to where I live now and right in the heart of charming Rockridge. I can't wait to make SWEAT my new go-to studio! read more

Love this place...gotta say its pretty intense and hard to get myself to go because its hard. Of all workouts Ive done, this is probably one that I feel like is the most rewarding when done. All I can say is all the trainers are amazing, the vibe is nice, and its truly a workout. Do this regularly and I think whatever you do sports related...this will help with performance/endurance. Its definitely high intensity and honestly haven't felt this great in a while. It will test you mentally and physically....but all for the better. I don't mean for this review to deter you from going because its hard...but encourage any of you to try it and see if it works for you. You will will sweat, you will burn calories, you will get stronger...period. Thank you all - I think the staff here makes it fun to come to the classes for sure...great group of people hands down! read more

Just went on a mini morning shopping spree at SWEAT! I really needed some quality yoga/active lifesyle attire and they seemed to have some of the best and most stylish workout garb around. I easily found a pair of two tone black and grey workout pants by alo and and a alo wrap multi way sweater. I will definitely post some pictures of my cute new yoga ensamble.. Also! They carry Apothecary almond milks and elixirs. I bought all three flavours of almond milk and the ginger vanilla bean tastes sooo good. It reminds me of cream, actually. Best almond milks I have ever enjoyed. I just had stitches removed, but I will be coming back to utilize their workout facility stat. Thanks SWEAT read more

Sweat is exactly what the area has been crying out for and the space is fantastic with a really nice friendly vibe generated by Cassie and the team. The cooling cross breeze that can be generated in the space is a Godsend after round one of the workout (the name was definitely not chosen randomly) and all the equipment is brand new and top quality. Cassie is great at pushing you to do that little bit more (which I personally really need)and it's all done with just the right mix of fun and motivation. I also bought a really cool running belt thing to carry my stuff in when I am running outside and my wife has her eye on pretty much all of the fitness clothing in the place! Have already recommended this to friends who have come down and really enjoyed the studio so thought I would get on here and do the same. read more

Sweat is exactly what Rockridge needed! Thanks Cassie :) Cassie is awesome - she knows EXACTLY what she is talking about and can kick anyones butt (in the most fun way) no matter what their level of fitness is or their goals are. The space is great - open plan with everything needed for an awesome HIIT class/PT session. If you want a great, fun, motivational workout that will definitely give you results then Sweat is the place for you. I am hooked! read more

Finally, an amazing gym run by an amazing person, right on College Ave! Since moving here two years ago, I've been surprised at the lack of fitness options in Rockridge and was thrilled when Cassie, the owner, opened this great studio. The classes are a wonderful mix of cardio and strength training. I leave every class feeling like I got my heart rate up, and pushed all my major muscle groups. And because each class is different, my muscles and my mind are never bored! There are morning, afternoon and evening classes, so there is always a class that works for my constantly changing schedule. Cassie is also a fabulous instructor. She's encouraging, personal, and so supportive. She knows everyone by name and helps everyone work to their fitness level, whatever that may be. Love this place! read more

I was visiting my sister who comes here regularly and she brought me in. First class is free so definitely TRY IT!! I also went back for a second class the next day. I was a little sore but it's a good pain, I guess! (: It's a circuit type class with 10+ stations of varying work outs set up around the room. The instructor goes through each of the stations to show you what to do and demonstrate proper form. Then you start off doing some warm up and cardio (like mountain climber intervals, ski lunges, etc.) then you go through all of the stations. 45 seconds each with 15 second rest (enough time to get to the next station). You break for a minute or so and then do it again. You do the station sets three times. There's usually a cool down that, both days I went, were similar to the warmup. The instructors are really encouraging and use your name so you know they are talking to you. They walk around and give you tips like show you better form or a modification. I admit, by the second day in a row, I was modifying everything! I was so sore! Some examples of the stations include burpees with some type of jumping move, uphill cycle, TRX pushup or pull up, bicycle crunch, slam weighted ball, plank with kettle bell back row, kettle bell swing, box jumps or step ups, jump lunges, squat with shoulder press, etc. It varied both days..none of the exercises were exactly the same. I definitely recommend checking it out. Staff is super friendly and have some cute close to browse through to boot! read more

I've now taken 2 of the classes at Sweat and am very impressed. As an ex competitive athlete, I'm a big fan of interval training and the classes here do a great job of combining strength for many different muscle groups and functional movement exercises. I'm not in great shape these days, so the classes kick my ass and hit everything you need to hit. Cassie, the owner/instructor, is super knowledgeable, focuses on the right technique and pushes you just enough. She also goes over the details of how to move for each exercise so you are safe and working out the right muscles. Also, a clean, modern, open studio right on College. Perfect. read more

I've been coming to Sweat for a couple months now and I can honestly say that it's changed the way I workout. Most weeks, I'm in there at least four days a week, I have tons of energy all the time, and I'm feeling stronger and more fit everyday. The entire Sweat team is awesome and they make it fun and rewarding to be there working out whether it's at 6 in the morning or 7 at night. I have never been a group class person but now they are my favorite thing. The energy in the Sweat classes is awesome, the exercises are intense but also fun and different each time, and the 50 minutes of class time flies by which is nothing I used to ever say about a workout. I especially love the fusion classes that mix cycling and circuit training, but I also like switching those up with the cycling classes for variety. Can't say enough good things about Sweat, Cassie, and her whole team! read more

Sweat is the future of fitness. There is never a dull class! Everyday there is a new focus for the workouts and your not stuck doing the same exercise for long periods of time. I look forward to seeing what new challenges await me everyday I go to class. Whether your athletic or looking to get into shape sweat offers a fun and challenging experience. read more

Six stars. I was never an exercise class person, but Sweat has totally changed me. The instructors are great and the classes are tough - I don't care what kind of shape you are in, if you really push yourself in these classes, you will be panting by the end. That said, you can totally go at your own pace. The classes are full of people of all shapes and fitness levels and somehow it seems like everyone is in sync. Good vibe, team feeling, no judgment. I'm in medium shape and I don't feel at all self-conscious when I go there. You would think, given the small space and limited equipment, that eventually it would get repetitive, but really every class is different. I've been going about 2 times a week for the past 6 months or so, and I still find myself asking the instructors about certain exercises and get all sorts of surprises in how the exercises are grouped, paced etc. My only complaint about Sweat is that I can't afford to go more. Love it! read more

I've been going to Sweat for about 4 months now and am a convert to the HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout. I was in decent shape from cycling when I started, but was looking for a way to strengthen my core and upper body. The workouts at Sweat are intense, I really do sweat a lot, and I feel great afterwards. The instructors are all really good, and the owner, Cassie, is great. If you are looking for a good way to get in shape, or stay in shape, and enjoy working out in a friendly, non-competitive, atmosphere, I highly recommend this place. read more

I was looking for a new gym prior to starting a new job when Sweat Fitness opened right around the block. It's been a great experience. The space itself is really nice: uncluttered, open, airy and clean. Classes are challenging and varied with lots of convenient times, including weekends. The owner who runs the classes, Cassie, is positive and fun. I appreciate the encouragement and helpful suggestions so you get the most out of an exercise and more importantly, don't hurt yourself by using poor form. I'd definitely recommend checking it out. read more

I workout ALL the time and have tried just about every type of group class. I was starting to plateau and then in came SWEAT into my life! I have been coming to Sweat 2-3 times per week over the last year and have seen significant changes in my body. Even though I'm a regular, I've never seen a workout repeated in my year of being here. There are certain focuses (back/shoulders, abs/legs) on each day, but overall you will be guaranteed a full body workout and it's impossibly to feel bored because it's different every time. As someone who takes group fitness classes all over the bay, I absolutely prefer Sweat over a larger chain because it has such a community feel/personalized instruction. All of the instructors remember who you are, miss you when you're gone (YES they keep you accountable for working out) and treat you like a community member rather than another number. Regardless of your fitness level, you feel like you belong there and that's a really unique trait of a "boutique fitness studio". I hate the intimidation factor you feel at other gyms. I love this place so much. read more

I've owned a successful Pilates studio for 15 years so I know a great workout spot when I find one! Ive found my ideal fitness regimen in Pilates + HIIT + hiking. I adore Sweat! It's given my body and fitness and even my outlook on life a big, sustained boost. I go every day that I can (aiming for 3/week as a rule) and I'm finding that I love it more with time. Cassie hires excellent trainers: they are very fit themselves, clear at demonstrating, offer cues and modifications for alignment and safety, design new creative circuits for every single class, and are just fun, kind, compassionate people. I especially appreciate Ashley and Jason for the energy and rigor they bring to every hour. The gym itself is well-designed and operated: I love the choice and quality of the cardio equipment (bikes, Ergs, rowers) there are plenty of tools like Bosus, bands, weights, boxes, etc. and there is always space for each person because they know the limit to how many to admit. The atmosphere here is ideal IMO: friendly but focused - not chatty! No time for it! So this is where you want to be if you're serious about getting and staying in shape and want to sweat in good company! I could go on.....yay for Sweat! My only suggestion is that they get more 8 and 10lb dumbbells. :) read more

Sweat fitness is awesome. Every trainer is very knowledgable and welcoming. No matter what fitness level you are, the trainers are there to help you modify any exercise if needed. I have even seen people in class that have injuries and are able to benefit from the workout. I would recommend sweat fitness to everyone, I know if they try it once, they will be hooked like me. read more

The perfect workout. Tough, fast paced, lots of variety, and super effective for every part of the body. Lots of class times makes it convenient too. The instructors are great, and give good suggestions for modifying exercises based on ability or injuries. I had a baby 3 months ago and I was still able to get a great workout without feeling like a total weakling - really is great for any level. I think I am addicted! read more

I have tried - and been one and done at - a bunch of gyms in Oakland and San Francisco. I now regularly rotate between 5 places and Sweat is one of them twice a week. It has challenging classes, positive instructors, and a good community of people. The gym is clean, the equipment is new (and they've added free weights in the back room) and the space is nice and open for the workouts. The schedule is really good too with workouts on the hour every weekday/weekend mornings and weekday late afternoon/evenings. I'm always spent after any of the workouts because you really go hard for 50 minutes. On a practical note, except for the late afternoon weekday classes, parking is never an issue. Give this place a try...it's definitely worth it. read more

I tried out Sweat when they first opened and I've been coming regularly since then. This is the best workout that I get all week. Technically I could do many of these exercises on my own but realistically I would not work out this hard and in such a focused way without a class. The combination of group work, varied and changing exercises and expert instructors keeps things interesting and challenging. They continue to add new exercises, new machinery and make other improvements over time, so I'll keep coming back. read more

This is an awesome place to workout. The classes are always changing and you never get bored. The best part is that it always kicks your butt. All of the trainers are super nice and it is not meat market. They are also expanding and add in a spin area. read more

I'm coming out of Yelp retirement to recommend Sweat. I love working out here! It's fun, you get a lot out of the time you put in, and the routines grow with you. Cassie is so encouraging and knowledgeable and you get to work out alongside people who are focused but friendly. I hadn't worked out in about a year after having a baby but the classes here have pushed me to be stronger and to have fun with my fitness routine - much more engaging than an hour on the elliptical. I also recently completed a three-day juice cleanse that I picked up from Sweat too. One-stop shop! Love this place. read more

I'm new to the area and trying out studios in Berkeley and Oakland. I've had a great experience at sweat so far! Each workout is different and fast paced. The trainers are really conscious to make sure you are using proper form and always try to push you past your comfort zone. read more

If you like HIIT and community, you'll love Sweat. I started going to classes at the Oakland location about a year ago and to date have gone to 91 classes. Skeptical about class-based fitness, I primarily ran outside and lifted weights at a gym in downtown Oakland before coming to Sweat. My girlfriend convinced me to give it a shot and we both went together to a class on a cool October morning. Cassie was welcoming and motivating. I had never done a squat in my life before and I was nervous about picking up the lingo and not making a fool of myself. To my great relief, Cassie demonstrated each exercise and described the muscle group each one was targeting. During the workout, if she saw that someone was struggling, she would help them improve their form and stay determined to succeed. Needless to say, I was hooked. Cassie has hired a wonderful team of welcoming, knowledgeable instructors. It's a wonderful fitness community and I'm happy to be a part of it. It's a very diverse bunch of people, ranging from 20 to 50, of all shapes and sizes. For me, Sweat is about bringing together a community of people who care about being healthy and strong. Highly recommended! read more

I've been going to SWEAT since it opened last June and I can honestly say it has changed my life! You get an amazing workout and have a great time doing it. The trainers are top-notch; they know what they're talking about, they are enthusiastic and give great encouragement, and they make sure to know everyone's name. The beauty of this class is that it's wonderful for everyone - from exercise beginners to intense athletes. All of the exercises can be modified based on your needs/ability. I cannot recommend SWEAT more highly - I LOVE working out there! read more

I woke up on my 35th birthday and realized how out of shape and chubby I had become over the past 5 years. I also realized how tired I was feeling most of the time. I had been going to the gym here and there, but it clearly wasn't working. It was time for a change, so I decided to give Sweat a try, and I couldn't be happier! Here's why I love sweat: The trainers: I've had every trainer who works at Sweat and they are always welcoming, super friendly, motivating, and they make sure you are working out properly. They pay attention to your form and they always check in before the workout to see if you are dealing with an injury or any soreness. If so, they'll modify the workout to meet your specific needs. The workouts: They design a new workout each day, focusing on different areas of the body throughout the week. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays are fusion classes where you split your time between cycling challenges and strength circuits. The rest of the week are HIIT classes. I love going to both versions and I'm drenched in sweat by the end. I've been going 3-4 times per week, and since my birthday (about 5 months ago) I have lost a considerable amount of body fat while gaining a considerable amount of muscle. I feel amazing, physically I can see that I look better, I have more energy, and my sleep has improved. If I wasn't such a foodie, I'm sure my results would be even better, but overall I'm very happy. I feel stronger and healthier. The community: I've always had a positive experience with everyone in my class. The workouts are intense, so there's a sense of camaraderie as you're all in it together. High fives typically happen at the end to celebrate such an achievement. The folks who work out at Sweat regularly are such wonderful people-everyone treats one another with kindness and respect. Cassie and her team also put on team challenges from time to time. They are a great way to meet new people and focus on fitness goals for prizes! All in all, Sweat is the best, and going there has been life changing for me. I recommend it! read more

I love Sweat and all the trainers there! The studio gave me my first real exposure to HITT training in a studio environment. I was nervous at first, but everyone there is extremely welcoming, right when you step in the door. The trainers work with you to make sure you're feeling good, and help you adjust the workout if you have any kind of injuries. Everyone is highly skilled and professional. And to top it all off, the studio is fun! read more

We've all been there: you sign up for a gym or health club, you go a handful of times, and then for whatever convenient excuse you stop going. The key thing missing? Motivation. When I saw that Sweat opened right in the heart of Rockridge I had to check it out. And let me tell you, it delivers what it says on the box: buckets of sweat. Cassie is a badass coach, and she really does a superb job of guiding you through the short high-intensity exercises. In just two short months I've noticed a big change in how I look and feel. With manageable class sizes, lots of classes to choose from, and a large clean workout space, Sweat is a no-brainer especially for lazy people like me who need that extra push to get it done! read more

I've been going to Sweat for over a year now and love it! Every workout is a challenge and believe me you will sweat. Instructors are all great. Every class is different but the instructors go over all the exercises and are always willing to modify if you have injuries. They also will push you if you need it. I would definitely try them out if you are looking for a workout that will challenge you. read more

Sweat is awesome! I've been looking for a boot camp style workout on this side of the bridge and this place is fantastic. With my schedule, I was looking for something where I could get in and out and get an awesome workout without having to plan my own routine or do my own programming. I can just pop into Sweat, Cassie always has a new, challenging, and thoughtful class prepared. At other gyms and studios I've often felt the need to do supplemental work before or after but at Sweat, I'm demolished afterwards and feel completely satisfied with my output and that's greatly in part to how encouraging Cassie and team are when it comes to getting your Sweat on. Highest recommendation for the greatest new addition to College Ave! read more

Love Sweat. I go as many times a week as I can. Cassie and all the trainers are awesome. I would never workout for 50 mins on my own but this place gets me there. Be prepared for a intense workout but you'll feel great after. read more

Love this place. Challenging circuit class, good music, and fun instructors. Good combination of upper, lower body, abs, and cardio in every workout. Paid parking is available in front. I started out as a class pass member, but have now been doing personal training with Carl Harding for more than a year now. Before exercising at Sweat, I had taken about a four-year break from exercising, but now can confidently say I'm in better shape than I was when I was a regular at the gym on my own years ago. Carl really takes the time to understand your fitness goals and designs workouts to match what you ask him for. He keeps the routines engaging and varied, is extremely knowledgeable about diets and exercise, and really makes the time spent at training rewarding. read more

Cassie and her team are committed to making sure you have a great workout and that you see and feel results! SWEAT's workout format is based on high intensity interval training - you go through a circuit with short breaks in between. This is a TOUGH workout - be ready for pull-ups, high knees, TRX, free weights, kettlebell, bosu, and more all in the same visit! All of the instructors (Cassie, Nash, Lena) are motivating and make sure that their workouts are varied and keep you engaged (workouts change every day). The instructors at SWEAT will show you the modifications you need for your fitness level and take the time to make sure you're using correct form. The space is great, super clean, and has quality equipment. Cassie offers lots of class times, so, there's no excuse to miss your workout! Finally - the people I've met at SWEAT are really nice too. With the New Year around the corner, I definitely recommend you commit to making SWEAT part of your regular workout! read more

I love this place!! I have belonged to so many gyms, yoga studios and the like over the years and this in my all time favorite. It is so convenient to get to and classes are scheduled every hour so it is pretty hard to come up with the typical excuses to skip class. The classes last 50 minutes and they change everyday so it never gets boring. It isn't like a typical gym where there are all these machines that you mindlessly get on and listlessly exercise (you know what I am talking about). The instructor is there assisting you, challenging you and encouraging you the entire class. There is a lot of attention paid to form so that you won't get injured. And super important - Cassie, the owner, is a clean freak, so it is SPOTLESS. I just completed the 53 Day Challenge which consisted of coming 3 to 4 X's a week for 53 days and following Sweat's nutrition coaching. I lost 9 pounds of FAT and gained 5 pounds of MUSCLE. I lost 2.5" off my waist and 2.25" off my hips. I also just got some blood tests back from the doctor. My fasting glucose is down, my LDL is down and my HDL (The good stuff) is WAY UP! I am so much healthier since finding and joining SWEAT. Run or walk briskly into Sweat and see yourself change! read more
