I LOVE everything about XCORE. I signed up for their unlimited newbie special and I strongly recommend getting this membership if you're first starting out as you get to experience different instructors and take both xBurn and xClimb classes. They have so much availability (morning, noon, evening) on their schedule making it easy to schedule out my weeks ahead of time. The instructors genuinely care that you're having fun, enjoying the moves, and feel comfortable in your body. It's a challenge, but they will push you! I've taken a couple of their xClimb classes and oh my, that is SUCH a workout. Great music and you feel amazing after class. Parking has been pretty easy at this location! Sometimes there are events at the chapel down the street making it difficult to find parking, but that's quite rare in my opinion. Overall, I'm super grateful to have found this studio and community. I absolutely love everything about XCore from the fun challenges for participation to the instructors phenomenal instructions. I don't really fall in love with reformer Pilates until I came here. I started in November and have been coming at least 4-5x's a week. Every instructor is amazing with their own style. You will leave feeling stronger, for sure. This studio also has versa climber workouts. Do yourself a favor and start with JL's class. He always has a fire playlist to get you through it. I've been taking X'Core classes since 2021, after the birth of my kiddo. The teachers provided really helpful modifications for both a beginner level and post-partum. I enjoyed the classes so much that I've continued to take them over the last 4+ years. The teachers are incredibly approachable and friendly, and provide optional hands on adjustments. I've found the class schedule to be accommodating, with options in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings. The biggest challenge is getting into a class when you forget to book early. I'm not a fan of being filmed in the gym. I realize that people film content in the gym, but per their own policy, it's only allowed if explicit consent has been given. Apparently the instructor was filming for content, yet no one mentioned that at the start of class or asked for my permission. Just started filming during the middle of class which was distracting and uncomfortable. So I guess the policy doesn't apply if you work there? This actually the 2nd time this has happened, and the first time I reached out directly and was told it shouldn't have occurred and wouldn't happen again, yet here we are. I know that some people don't think it's a big deal, so maybe have a class *specifically* for content or offer a free class as a trade. It's not appropriate to film people who are paying for a class without their permission and I'm honestly disappointed. read more

I was introduced to x'core by a friend who is also an instructor at the studio and let me tell you... my life was changed. As someone who used to weight lift and thought that Pilates would be too easy or just "stretching", I was so wrong. This studio and the instructors will challenge you to your limits. Instructors that I love: Bibi, Minh, Elizabeth, JL, Tamara, Jaycie and Armstrong. Each instructor is different with their workouts but you will leave the studio feeling sweaty and good. Bibi and Armstrongs advanced classes always has me regretting showing up but feeling sooooo glad I did afterwards. Only thing that sucks is the parking. Found this location on classpass and I dont regret it at all. I booked a 9 am climb class with Marcella. When I first walked in Mya was so helpful she explained everything introduced me to the instructor and showed me the lockers. This class was new for me and I took one of the harder instructors but it was so worth it. The vibes were there the room is dimmed and at some points dark. What I did love is the instructor introduced me as being new which worked out because the advanced people look out for you. I loved that the music was mixed as well. Overall 10/10. Been a member here for 2 weeks and have tried 6 instructors so far: Elizabeth, Sue, JL, Sarah, Miname (Emeryville) and Mason (xClimb). All of the instructors have been great! JL is a vibe if you're looking for some good energy, Elizabeth has excellent hip hop playlists, Sue is excellent for a more challenging class and Mason will absolutely kick your ass in xClimb. Instructors are great at correcting form and encouraging you to keep going as you, or at least I, am slowly dying inside from the burn I'd highly recommend this company as there's great flexibility in going to studios across the east bay, the city, and Marin and it's very diverse. read more

I began attending Cat's class a few months ago, and she is by far my favorite instructor; very motivating, helpful and kind. If you're new to this type of Pilates, you'll want to start off with Cat's class. Her classes are not easy, but let's be real - you're not here for a picnic. Fair warning - you will be sore, but that's how you know it's working. There's plenty of parking on Pleasant Valley, and a little cafe across the street from the studio if you need a caffeine fix before class. The studio itself is clean, modern and well-lit. The only class based instruction I've taken is yoga and HOTWORX (video instructor based) and I never thought I'd get into it. My friend convinced me to go because she's been at it for a year, and I love it. I bounce between the Emeryville and Oakland locations. The Oakland location is on Piedmont avenue and has versa-climbers. As a trail runner the versa-climb classes have improved my PR on the trails and increased my VO2max. The instructors and community members of Xcore are awesome, friendly, encouraging and knowledgeable. The studios are also always clean. Awesome and challenging experience every class. read more

I joined for the new student special which is a pretty good deal, just to check it out. That was 2 years ago and I'm hooked. I had never done Pilates before so can't speak to how it compares to other studios, but my friends say it's relatively pretty tough even at the beginning level, but I love the format and consistency even though there are a wide variety of instructors and styles. Lots of ways to level up or down so I always get what I need. The versa climbers are a completely unique experience and the short classes allow you to push past a cardio peak and then bounce back quickly. XClimb was killer and so rewarding if you make yourself stay for the whole class. I tried it through Class Pass and I wanted to walk out after 5 min. I'm extremely disappointed by my interaction with Rebecca. She was not my instructor, yet treated me and my guest with unnecessary rudeness and impatience. The front door was locked and no one was at the front desk. The only accessible entrance was through the Lagree Pilates door. Upon entering, Rebecca immediately snapped at us, telling us to "hurry up" because we were "interrupting her class." I maintained decorum and chose not to argue, out of respect for the others in her class--but her behavior was completely unprofessional and a poor reflection of the company she represents. What's most frustrating is that I've had nothing but positive interactions with every other instructor, even those I haven't personally trained with. Rebecca, however, showed a complete lack of people skills and basic courtesy. This wasn't just disappointing as a customer--it was disappointing on a human level. Do better Rebecca. read more

Classpass lead me here on my newfound search of getting back into shape. This location is the only one that offers the xclimb class so I said 'why not.' I like the classes are 30min, which is short enough for what sounds like an intense workout. The downside of this location is the limited and metered parking. Signup was a breeze on the app as there were a few spots left. I've noticed their popular classes and times do fill up fast. As I enter, I can hear the current class jamming to the beats sweating it hard. Vida the instructor was great to walk the newbies through the advanced version of the stairmaster. Imagine 15 poles all conveniently condensed into a room. It's cozy enough to fit the machines and maximize the room space. Once the class starters we just start climbing and stepping nonstop. Grooving to the beat. Towards the end of the class I was quite sweaty. Overall I'd say I got a good workout. read more

As someone who has worked out my entire life, XCORE is absolutely no joke. I have a repetitive knee injury from my childhood that prevents me from doing heavy weight lifting and many forms of cardio, along with giving me hip and lower back pain -- doing Pilates has all but eliminated it for me. The XCore Versa Climber classes are a perfect accompaniment to the work I do with my trainer. XCore offers Pilates and versa climber classes. There are far more Pilates classes offered and climb classes are only offered at the Piedmont location. I really enjoy climb. The classes are short but intense. The music varies depending on who is teaching. DJ Lady Lu has a good playlist and I really like Amy's classes. I hope more classes are added and i hope climb becomes available in Emeryville. I can walk from home to that location. A few things that make me rethink getting a reoccurring membership. Some days the room is very hot. Really hot.. and it's small and dark with no windows so it feels oppressive. Parking is a nightmare and someone from the neighborhood parking committee keeps putting notices on my car informing me of a petition to tight up on "resident parking" My biggest issue is that many times the classes start early. I'm not sure why. You cannot be 1 minute late. I understand anything over 5 is disruptive and disrespectful but Yo...... A few days ago I reserved my machine and fought parking, entered the class 2 minutes late literalllllllly at 5:32pm, the receptionist said, "you're good, go on in" i head in and there was a guy on my machine who said the instructor moved him there. He was hesitant to move so I had no idea what to do. I felt all eyes on me so i left feeling like an idiot for driving over there etc. Im going to give it another few visits before I make the three month commitment. Wish me luck. read more

I was recommended the Pelvic Floor Workshop w/ Karah from a family member who found the class online to support me during my pregnancy. The class is advertised as including breath work, movement, meditation, and discussion, as well as ear acupressure treatments. Unfortunately the entire class was all discussion and very little breath work, no movement, meditation, or ear acupressure. The facilitator was knowledgeable and passionate, but I left the workshop feeling extremely disappointed, particularly that my expectations were so misaligned with the experience. If you are looking for a prenatal experience with movement, this may not meet your expectations. read more

XCORE has been my go-to workout studio since January and I've just finished my 80th class! I've tried all the workouts: from at home programs, SoulCycle, Barry's, Peloton, etc but nothing has gotten me in as consistently as XCORE. I'm currently on the unlimited plan and have never felt stronger. I love that the Pilates classes are low impact workouts that are still challenging. (Context: I'm not new to reformer pilates, but I was new to xCore.) People seem to love this place. You might be one of them! However. They don't demo the moves. (???) I tried two beginner classes here with different instructors, and neither bothered to provide a visual reference for students to follow. Instead, they shout multi-step instructions behind you while you glance at the person next to you, hoping they're performing the move correctly. If you're a visual learner - or if you care about precision - you're SOL. Instructors should demo moves in beginner classes. read more
